This has become one of our favorite "treat" places to go. The food is so well prepared and made from mostly local ingredients, so it is fresh. They pace the reservations because their kitchen is small. It's overlooking the John Wayne Marina so there's always something to see and sometimes even seals. I have no idea what Jean had in this comments section but I have been there many times and never had a bad flavor or experience with the staff. Their seafood is stunning, everything is prepared as if the chef is serving his own family with each meal. The service is professional and kind. They have abbreviated hours noon- 4PM and reservations are a must. We drive 30 minutes to eat here several times a year and even though it is a bit pricey you get what you pay for. There are gluten-free options and there are options for those who prefer to eat vegetarian. It is a great place for a special meal and you often see birthday celebrations taking place. We are not drinkers but I can see others enjoy those selections. I do not see many children there, I am sure it is the price point that makes it a mostly adult destination. Fun to see the crab come in and the husband and wife teams pulling their boats up the ramp with various methods and successes. Always something happening from this spot. My family was coming off a multiple day trip through Olympic National Park and we were ready for something exceptional. Dockside did not disappoint! We tried to get in around 5:15 on a Friday night but they were booked solid. The hostess tried to make something work but just couldn't. They did offer the ability to order takeout which we gladly jumped at. The only disappointment, and reason for the one star reduction, was that the full menu isn't available in that format (Oysters Rockafeller, which we were unable to order because of the way they serve them) and also they do not offer to go beverages. These were inconveniences, but didn't keep us from having a terrific meal. We had the crab cakes, plank salmon (the crab meat on top and the risotto are amazing!), and the halibut. These dishes were smartly packaged with all the sauces and utensils which allowed us to have a bayside dinner at the nearby picnic tables. With a quick side trip to the store for some beer and wine, they had a food ready in about 15-20 minutes. The only reason we came here is because of a tip from a friend from the Seattle area. He said, "the best Dungeness crab in WA!" and Dockside met those high expectations! read more

The location is wonderful right in the marina. Presentation of the food looked fabulous. Prices were average high ranging 26-38 for most dishes. Service was swift and pleasant. My daughter's friend had chicken parmigiana and she really liked it. My daughter had shrimp Alfredo and commented Olive Garden has more flavor than this. We tasted it and agreed. It's as though they forgot salt altogether. My husband and I each had a cup of seafood bisque. We both really enjoyed that. We were torn between the seafood Alfredo and the pescatore. The waitress highly recommended the Pescatore...said it has so much flavor. We chose to split the meal with a $3 split fee which was fine. Although, this was one of the worst $41 dollar meals I've ever had. The mussels, clams, and scallops had zero, I mean zero flavor to them. Then I tried the pasta and it was like eating pasta boiled in water with no seasoning at all! I was shocked. This dish is made with a pesto, that alone usually has plenty of flavor. It's our first time to visit this restaurant at Seguim and looking for a good seafood meal. After reading Yelp comments about this restaurant, we decided to give it a try. I'm not impressed with their Feature of the Day Menu, which is Over Priced of $65.00; piece of salmon, small crab meat, scoop of rice and small vegetables. I did not question when we received the bill. just let it go and don't want to make a scene. The Seafood Fettuccine is Over Priced too, $34.00; few scallops, shrimps and crab meat. We went here for lunch after a bike ride. We were seated outside and it took awhile for us to be greeted let alone be waited on. We had to go inside and find a server. She finally came out but seemed rushed. She took our order and went back inside. I ordered the ground prime rib burger and my husband ordered clams fettuccine. We had to wait awhile before we even got our water and drinks and even longer for our food. Yes, the restaurant was very busy but we felt they should have let us know how our order was coming. The food was very tasty and there was a lot of it. After we finished we had to go back in and track down our server so we could pay. After we had been home a few hours my husband got violently sick. For several hours he was in the bathroom. We are pretty sure it was the clams. That is the only thing he had that day that was different from me. We will not go back. read more

Went here not long ago with my dad, and was disappointed. Our food really was not worth the price, and the portion sizing just didn't seem justifiable. Our dessert was less than satisfactory as well, its presentation was subpar. The service wasn't great, the front of house were rushing us and quite unfriendly, the busser wearing a bun and flats was especially pushy and short towards us. The location is nice, that's about it. My wife and I really enjoyed this spot. They offered several good gluten free options and the staff was knowledgeable about the ingredients of each dish for celiac considerations. We started with the steamer clams and the sauce was amazing with a little bit of red pepper to make it pop. I enjoyed the ale battered halibut with sweet potato fries. The food was ok, but the steak was not cooked correctly. Wasn't a big deal, I ordered medium rare, and it was definitely under. I still ate half and took the other half to go. My wife's food was great! We both had the specials for the day. Hers was halibut topped with crab, and mine was the New York steak. I would have been fine in the 60-70 dollar range for a "market price" steak special but was quite shocked with the 110.00 price tag for my meal.. make sure you ask for pricing before you order anything. I made a reservation and was told we had a table near a window in the pelican room. Sounded lovely! Unfortunately the pelican room was small and every table was full plus chairs at the bar. It smelled like body odor and burnt plastic. One server for all the tables in there so it took a little bit to receive drinks and take our order. The food was just ok. We live in Seattle and have access to a lot of great seafood restaurants so I was left disappointed after spending $200 on dinner for 2. We had: Crab cakes: they were hearty and not fishy, crab was sweet, outside was crispy. Sauce on top could have been better. Maybe a red pepper sauce? Prawn fettuccine Alfredo: for $30 I got 3 prawns. Granted, the meal was very good. It was the savior of the night. Both of us ate it up! King salmon plate: salmon said it was grilled or pan seared but it seemed more like poached. It was soft and very light in color. Prawns on top were actually bay shrimp. Rice was bland. Veg was bland. Bread basket: bread was good once I asked for butter or dipped in the Alfredo sauce. They serve it with oil and vinegar and it is not a good combo. This bread screams salted butter! Attempting to "rewrite" it now here below: 2024.05.04 - original date of service - I don't normally leave reviews...but felt challenged, and wanted to share our experiences for anyone considering dining at this establishment. We were a party of 4. Upon entering this quaint restaurant, I found a "Yelp Review" hanging just above the Hosts Desk/Cashier Booth, to the right. In short, it was written in a way to be effectively citing a "GREAT PLACE", so I was intrigued, readying myself for the challenge to compare the review to our forthcoming experience! Well, I (we all) were not disappointed. As previously posted, nearly 99% of our experience met the Yelp Review Wall Plaque nearly to perfection. From Host, Reservation, farthest/quietest table, to the servers/services and food selection, quantity and taste - almost everything went perfectly - even the view is soothing and calming from many table locations inside. However, I will note that there was a minor mistake at the end, that should not take away from the rest of the evening. Upon ordering "dessert and coffee", for unknown reason(s) - it took roughly 15-20min for us to get these final touches. However, the staff owned the delay, properly recognized and apologized for it and we did not let this last negative situation impact the prior or rest of the evening. This was indeed a great experience for us, just as the Yelp Review on the wall stated, start to finish (aside minor end experience), I too would put a 5-star rating. I even went, during our initial arrival, to buy our good friends a "Gift Certificate" because they were "glamping" nearby for a month in their RV, and we wanted to express our appreciation. They were thrilled, returned later and had similar positive experiences, with a different selection of foods second time around. The "texted" us afterwards, with great and sincere appreciation I don't see how/why this business should receive anything less than 5-Star Ratings/Reviews, under what seemed like normal circumstances and a seemingly grateful and appreciative staff, they go out of their way to do their very best, from Host, to Server and Multiple Wait Persons (drinks, food, etc.), plus of course the kitchen personnel, through end...if there were 10 stars or 100% ratings allowed, I would max it out...and I believe I can speak for the entire 4 person party who attended. We live near Seattle, but every July we come up to Sequim & eat lunch at the Oak Table cafe, see the lavender farms, & then eat dinner at the Dockside Grill before driving home. We order a table when we get here, & walk the marina while waiting, we have delicious seafood in wine sauces, & then we walk the marina again. Probably not the best place to bring kids, overflow seating is moved to the bar next door, & there is some outdoor seating. Don't be "that guy" who tries to book a reservation half an hour before they close & then leaves a 1-star review for not getting in. It takes longer than that to get a clean table & cook the meal. read more

Bottom line upfront: 1. Make reservations (even day of), ask for window if it will be sunlit during your visit. 2. $15 corkage - if you drink wine, bring your own. 3. Not for land lovers - aka extremely limited menu for non-seafood eaters. The good: a) it is a quaint (small - boutique) dining room with views of the harbor (the night I was there, it was pitch black outside & limited lights on the boats). b) they have a very wide selection seafood entrees with very "boutique-ish" presentations. c) the seafood meals are tasty too :-). d) tasty desserts. Observation: (previous review): their appeared to be 2 "waitresses" and a "host". The waitress took our order, and the waitress & hostess both provided service, I assume determined by their momentary workload. The not so good. a) essentially 3 options (ribeye steak, pork chop, chicken) for non-seafood blokes like me. The ribeye was extremely "fatty" - I'm a New York strip kind of guy. b) the vegetable (sliced potatoes) was so hot it stuck to the roof of my mouth & caused 2nd degree burn - like it was microwaved - but tasty - so just let thinks cool down. c) we had a window table - but it was pitch black outside. - not there fault, my expectations was that the marina would be lit up, otherwise we could have been anywhere. d) for 2 entrees, 2 glasses of wine, and a single dessert - tab was about $140 (with tip) read more

The Chef knows his craft I'm telling you! Coming from a Seafood background, I have to say I was ToTALLY impressed! Calamari was amazing, my favorite! My husbands rockfish tacos were great, the crab cakes, as was the salmon with pasta I ordered. Dessert was the best! Here's pictures! Yesterday was our first time trying the food from Dockside Grill. We got our food to go since my mom is 90 and is justifiably unwilling to eat in a restaurant due to COVID. The receptionist was very friendly and engaging. We chatted a bit after I ordered, and she brought my food outside once it was ready. We ordered crab cakes, which were sort of middle of the road. I've had better and I've had worse. There was a decent amount of crab with little filling, which was good. There was a side of cherry tomatoes and garlic, which was delicious! It was the bright note of the dish. The dipping sauce for the crab cakes had an odd flavor and lacked nuance. That was my least favorite part of the dish. The desserts we tried were good. Peanut butter bars had good flavor and delicious sauces. We got the mud pie without the ice cream since we were driving before eating, and although the sauces were delicious, the brownie itself was hard and seemed a bit stale. Prices were high for the quality of the food; I suppose you pay for the view. If I eat here again in future, I'll try some other dishes and update my review. read more

Sometimes rating are hard to understand. Dockside is definitely a 5 on any scale. You will be disappointed if you come without a reservation as they have little free space for walk ins. Just be fore-warned and make a reservation. We did have a res and were promptly seated. The staff are very nice and helpful as it was out first time. Two of us went with the Halibut w/crab special, another had the seafood salad, and I went for the seafood pasta. But we had to start with orders of Shucked Oysters, Oysters Rockefeller, and a pair of dinner salads. Each item was perfect. The seafood salad was loaded with seafood and could feed several people. The Halibut was perfectly cooked and flaky. The seafood past was similarily loaded and way too much for one person (the leftovers made a tasty lunch the next day). Yea, I know it isn't the cheapest place to eat in Sequim, but it is by far the best food in the area. Regretfully, we were not able to make it back before we left town. We will return next summer! We stopped in for an appetizer, after a day of driving and exploring. We initially went in just for the calamari, but ended up ordering the Scallops and tortellini as well. OMG! It was all soooo good! The tortellini was creamy, cheesy and full of flavor. The scallops? They melted in your mouth! They were un-F'ing believable!! They were cooked perfectly and the sauce was amazing. We ending up sopping it up with our bread after the scallops were gone! They were a little pricey for what you get (3 scallops), but in our opinion they were definitely worth it! The service was, again in our opinion, perfect as well. They were attentive, but gave us our space to enjoy each others' company. The food came hot and quick. They were busy when we arrived and had to wait for about 30 minutes (the place is small), but like I said, it was definitely worth the wait!! read more
