Doc's is a OK with me!!! On a ( First ) Friday visit to Doc's this past Friday night, my friend wanted to get out and turn a few corners without straying to far from our side of town. So why not DOC's, they say??? The place was really crowded, they had a live band that played music that spoke to my soul ( or it could have been those 2 voodoo alcoholic beverages I had, but who's judging??? - ha ). I was a little embarrassed, because I thought this place would be more like a restaurant than a bar, but we were wrong. My friend had a fractured ankle and a huge boot on her foot..... It just looked wrong on so many levels that we were even there. Lol. We found a table up front and made a few friends inside, fairly quick might I add, with all the attention from the air cast boot. Lol. Doc's is dark and a bit smokey, from what I observed. I never made my way to the back, so I couldn't tell you what was beyond the bar area, but there was a lot of great laughs happening up front where I was. We order food and drinks, the waitress was nice and very available which was surprising since it was so busy. I order the prime rib plate which came with soup or salad and one side Item, I ordered a loaded baked potato and a side salad. My food was really good, she brought out everything I needed with all the fixin. My friend ordered the wings and curly fries, I didn't hear not one complaint from her ( and she's a complainer lol ), so I'm going to say she was happy. We didn't stay long because of the whole "boot situation" so we departed right after we finished eating. Doc's seems like a great spot to unwind after a long day. They have reasonably priced good food, nice drinks ( little to much ice, but we can work on that ). It could easily be considered a little divey, but I do like divey. What you need to know: Smoking is allowed inside - so if you don't partake sit outside, the drinks are STRONG, and the fries are amazing! It's definitely the quintessential definition of a local watering hole and all the regulars are super friendly! Ended up meeting a friend here before a Braves game and had no idea what I'd be walking into, but I had a great time. Drinks: One of the regulars bought us some Texan Margaritas and they knocked my socks off - fairly sure it was mostly tequila with a splash of margarita mix - not that I was complaining. But beware if you can't handle your liquor because it'll hit you fast and hard. Food: I just had the curly fries which weren't anything special but we're still pretty damn good. Ambience: Definitely a smokers paradise, with a ton of regulars. It's an older crowd but everyone's very friendly and always willing to strike up a conversation. Definitely an eclectic group of people, and an old school bar feel which I appreciated. Parking: This is ample, but beware if you're just parking here to go to a game - they boot you quick. If you spend an hour or two inside Doc's before going to the game though, you probably won't get booted if you leave your car. Price: Ended up paying just under $5 for some curly fries, so it's not too expensive for the area. All in all I'll probably come back again in the future, but I'll be sure to sit outside to avoid the smoke. Not a bad place, especially if you're local. read more

I love this place! Not for esthetics, but it's always a vibe. This place is a historical gem in Marietta. If you're a local, you are familiar with the infamous Docs. It's just as famous as the big chicken in my opinion. Beware if you hate the smell of tobacco smoke because they are one of the few bars who still allows guests to smoke inside their establishment. Outside of that, you will get cheap and strong drinks that are made well and quickly. The menu is pretty diverse and most of the food I've tried is pretty good. The wings are the absolute best thing on the menu! Doesn't matter which flavor they're all great! They have drink specials just about everyday. Bingo Sundays with $3 long islands special. They also have karaoke and live music sometimes. They play music and have several tv with sports on. You can also play pool, select music from the jukebox and play darts. When you walk in, you feel like you entered a cigarette smoking competition, and if you are okay with that, grab a seat at the bar. You'll meet some really cool laid back people that are easy to talk with. Went on a girls date on Monday night and I have to say this place is fun with lots of people drinking and smoking. It's apparently karaoke night boy oh boy, those men can sing in here. I have been to Doc's a few times. Yesterday was my last visit!! Inside is incredibly stuffy and, at times, quite smoky (no cigars allowed, cigarettes only!). The outdoor patio area is enjoyable! I was enjoying my visit yesterday UNTIL the owner's daughter (we were informed of this later..) decided to be rude to someone who had double parked. The gentleman double parked and stepped out of his vehicle with a boot on his foot. There were no other available handicap parking spaces available. The female decided she needed to tell him something then went indoors to get "security" to talk to the gentleman. The female was nothing short but rude and loud and drunk. (one of her friend was double parked as well!!!) The gentleman was gracious and kind. Her friends apologized for her but I am not aware if the female apologized! At the end, she sat quiet for a short time before her and her friend drove away while clearly under the influence. The entire rant from her was uncalled for and incredibly unprofessional. I find that the incident was racist and uncalled for.... For this reason, I will never return to Doc's. Our server, Ivy, showed such class during the entire incident. She is an excellent server!! She is kind and precise. She served our drinks with a smile and good attitude!! I appreciate her time. read more

I was here for about 45 minutes and it took me 3 days to get the smell of smoke out of my hair. I don't mind bars with smoking, and it maybe have just been especially thick the night I went, but it ruined things for me. The food was also sub par. I wasn't expecting anything more than bar food, but it didn't even meet those expectations. It wasn't the worst place I've ever been to, but I more than likely wont be back. I visited in town in hopes to find a local bar with great food. When we entered we were seated. Unfortunately we had just missed the free taco bar(only on Fridays). We asked the waitress her suggestions and she stayed everything on the menu was good. I ordered wings and fries and chose a Long Island Iced Tea. Soft Drink Refill Speed: 5/10 As a restaurant, Doc's might merit a slightly lower rating. The food is competent bar food, but mostly it's good enough for a smoky bar, of which, Doc's is one of the greats. I'm pretty sure I saw a cigarette vending machine in there, which to me is the surest sign of a good place to order drinks. Plus they have weekly specials that make it a very economical place to that. The game will be on, the refills will be mostly pretty prompt, and it's always been full but not crowded. This is a tale of two reviews. If you are a 1980's chain smoker, you will love this place. No worse feeling when you have on some good clothing and banging cologne , you come out smelling like a train engine smoke with your eyes burning. It smells up in there. Bring a mask. On the other hand, the drinks are cheap! The wings are probably top 10 in Atlanta. Place is full with old hags and past their prime people who normally are just chilling and relaxing with a drink. Really, a 2.5 - but as Mahsa G said, I'll be generous. This is a dive. I love dives. However, you need to go here for the right reason: drinking. Do not go for the food like I did today with coworkers. Slow, mediocre and, yeah...just all-around off. We were nearby and needed a quick lunch and it - wasn't. We ended up having to get most everything to go after a 30+ minute wait for sandwiches and a patty melt done wrong (sub a chicken salad....ok) and a well-meaning manager who came out to address the patty melt problem, but then didn't follow through on the promise of the replacement chicken salad coming out right away with the other two sammys. Ok... The quarter of the chicken club I had was - ok. Not bad, not great - ok! Oddly, I got cheese curly fries (I didn't ask for cheese) which were tasty. My boss got a club sandwich with chips and it looked good. Overall, average on the food. Ultimately . . . Very smoky, and a place I think best meant for late night drinks when in the area. read more

This is one of those places that I've driven by many times and always wanted to try but never had the opportunity. The other day I was going to a late afternoon game at nearby SunTrust Park and decided to stop here before the game for some beers and a late lunch. It was a nice place to relax with a few drinks and some basic pub fare. The menu looked like it was basic pub fare but it was a big menu with a lot of different types of sandwiches. I just went with a regular burger and fries. They asked if I wanted mushrooms, bacon, or cheese with it, and I said mushrooms. When it arrived, it had bacon, but I didn't bother saying anything because the bacon looked real good -- freshly cooked and crispy. The hamburger had a big half pound patty and a good sized serving of fries, that also seemed fresh. It was a good value for the money. The draft beers were pretty standard -- no out of the ordinary craft brews that I could see. I went with a Yuengling draft. There was a good sized crowd but it was not crowded or uncomfortable. It's a smoking bar and a few patrons were smoking, but I wouldn't say it was a smoky atmosphere. There were quite a few screens placed around, but not in good view for all of the patrons sitting directly at the bar. Service was pretty quick where I sat at the bar and reasonably friendly. VERY much a neighborhood pub. Cheap and local with friendly regulars. Don't be surprised if you end up in some lively conversation if you grab one of the many bar stools. The place is smokey and divey but it is a BAR. No crying children here. There is a pretty good lil patio with seating if you want to escape the smoke. The food is surprisingly good and they have a pretty extensive menu. Many daily specials too. This day they had free food for happy hour even. A friend and I met up here on our off day just to catch up. It's been a few years for me, as you can see. Well, as we both stepped inside the establishment, I quickly noticed that not much has changed. The smoke is still powerful as ever, but it's a given, which is why we opted to sit on the patio. The waitress was not very attentive, as she left us sitting for a good 15 minutes without even taking our drink orders. It was about 2 P.M. on a Friday and was not busy at all. Finally, she came over and took our orders. I ordered a fried fish sandwich with tater tots and sweet tea. It took a long time to come out, which was not a big deal since we were both chatting it up, but good grief. After a few bites, the fish sandwich got old real quick. I don't know what kind of minced meat "fish" this was, but it did not taste like actual fish. It damn sure wasn't fresh. I was just over this sandwich before I was even done... the taters were great. Not sure how you can go wrong with those, though. The sweet tea was pretty good, so they got that down-pat, as well. The waitress was slow to bring us water, napkins, and our check.
