Had lunch with my niece and a friend of hers here. We decided to sit outside as it was a fairly nice day and we were still in pandemic mode. The patio seating also had a view of an artificial turf playground and it was finally nice to hear the squeals of laughter. My first time so I ordered something familiar Chicken Fried Rice- lol; my lunch mates ordered their usual Chicken Curry one with noodles and one with rice. We were all pleased Great service, water glass filled regularly and the food came out hot and delicious. I only gave it 4 Stars because I have had better fried rice and I would have loved for the chicken to be cut in smaller pieces and to be a little more tender. I went last night and picked up a quick bite from them . I did not dine in. Actually carried out . However the decor is so beautiful I can't wait to be able to dine in soon! The young lady who handled my pick up order was so kind and conversational she provided excellent customer service even though I was only a to go order . That is extremely rare so I know dining in will be a wonderful experience. Was visiting a friend in the area and hunger set in quickly. I used yelp to help me find the best options around and came across Dok Khao. It's in a cute shopping plaza. I called in and ordered ahead. There is plenty of parking around and if you're lucky, you may get parallel parking in front of the restaurant. They seem to be very COVID conscious. There was someone to greet you at the door where you could make payment and pick up your order. No need to go inside and touch unnecessary things. I did peak inside and the interior looked super cute. There is also outdoor seating available on the side of the restaurant. I didn't see any heat lamps out but it was semi-warm so they may have put them away. Ok on the food! I ordered drunken noodles with chicken with less spice (because I'm a spice wimp). Food came out hot and I couldn't wait until we drove back to my friends place. I had to dive in right in the parking lot. The noodles were bomb. Probably one of the best drunken noodles I've had in the area. Very well flavored, the noodles were cooked to perfection and it was a decent sized portion. Dok Khao is a fun find in Woodbridge! The first thing you'll notice is that it's a very aesthetic restaurant with high ceilings, lots of light, hanging plants, and above-grade dining settings. It gives the vibe of a posh cafe in a green house. Service is generally really quick and attentive, and not really lagging if you're looking for something. The food can be hit-or-miss for me, honestly. But when it hits, it's absolutely delicious! I've dined here a couple of times and a top favorite is the Crispy Salmon Roll. Beautiful taste and texture that I would order again and again. The Lychee Duck Curry is also a winner for me. A great mix of sweet and spice with healthy chunks of meat and just overall super filling and satisfying! Misses for me include the Spring Rolls and the Lamb in Two Seasons special. They just weren't exciting and I wasn't really too interested in finishing them compared to other items. The Lychee Cheesecake was a recommendation and a good one too! Great taste, but the crust is a bit too thick, as I couldn't pierce it with a fork and needed to ask for a knife. Overall, for each visit, I was more or less satisfied with the meal. The food isn't cheap though, so when a dish does miss, there is a bit of buyer's remorse, but the other parts of the meal definitely carry the experience through, and I will be back and hopefully get only hits next time! read more

Yellow curry is one of the few Thai dishes I enjoy and this one did not disappoint. I was able to order it with brown rice. My friend and I came here for the first time because we were drawn to the aesthetics of the restaurant from pictures online. This is such a cute Thai place with a nice interior! We ordered the healthy rolls appetizer to share, and I got the pad Thai with shrimp while my friend got the green curry with chicken. The healthy rolls were good and tasted fresh. My pad Thai was solid. (I've had better tasting pad Thai before and I feel like the noodles could've been cooked for a minute or two longer, but I'd definitely still order it again.) First off let me say, this is a beautiful restaurant and love the very intimate setting. No complaints about the cleanliness or the food. The reason I am giving 2 stars (That's me being nice), is the staff and the service is low standard. The place wasn't packed or busy, so we came at the right time, so we thought. We were seated immediately. We sat at the table for 20 minutes before the waitress brought water. She then left and didn't come back for another 10 min. We ordered and they bought our Appetizers within 15 min. We sat there for another 25 min before the waitress realize we still did not receive our Main Course. The wait made use decide to leave and not even eat our food, we took to go instead. We got the bill, paid and left. Dok Khao [DK]. (3.5 stars). "Swipe Left. No wait... Swipe Right!" Valentine's Day dinner. I found it funny that this was the first thing I heard as I was seated. ---- I arrived at DK around 1600 and the first thing I saw was a cute massive thrown decorated with V Day balloons. Cute, I told myself. As I was seated, I noticed 2 young ladies giggling and laughing at the table beside me. I wistfully made a note to not stare as they were a bit boisterous. The ladies were staring at a phone and swiping feverishly left and right... Interesting conversation... ---- I started off with a Lavender Land. I wasn't expecting much and it delivered an OK experience. It's not bad, just a pretty drink that has floral notes. If I was wearing a blindfold, I doubt I'd be able to identify what this drink was made with... I then asked my server for recommendations and made sure to tell her I didn't like sweet sauces. While I awaited my order, I took a look around the room and noted the cozy and welcoming interior. There aren't many "fancy" restaurants within a 5 mile radius of where I live and I would say this is by far the fanciest I've been to since moving to Woodbridge. Appetizers. One was great. One was not. Bangkok Wings. Skip it. Even though the wings are fried, they get tossed in a cloyingly sweet sauce that all but strips the chicken of any fried goodness! Healthy (Summer) Rolls. The reason why I will come back!! Fresh ingredients!! The combination of vermicelli and glass noodles was unexpected and appreciated. The dichotomy of textures was a nice departure from the norm. One of the best summer rolls I've had at a restaurant. The sauce is slightly sweet and thicker in consistency. Reminds me of a creamy peanut butter mixed with simple syrup and hoisin?... The chopped peanuts gave a great crunchy texture and nutty undertone. WORTH IT!! It comes with or without chicken. I wish they offered it with shrimp. Me no likey boiled chicken but it was still good!! The first entree dish to arrive was the Volcano Seafood. I appreciated the generous plump mussels, calamari, and shrimp but I can't say the quality of the seafood was great. The veggies are frozen with the exception of the bell peppers and basil. The sauce was spicier than sweet so I enjoyed this dish the most of the entrees I ordered. I requested Thai HOT because I do love spicy food and I'm happy I did. I don't think I could've eaten the rest of this dish if the chilis didn't cut through the sweetness. The sauce is a tamarind/hoisin? base. Crispy Duck Basil came out next. Similar sauce but the duck was completely dry and over cooked. Tough to chew and the sauce made the batter mushy. Unpleasant to eat. Hangover Lo Mein. Nothing to rave about but not bad. The seafood and veggies are as described above... I wouldn't order it again as the noodles didn't seem to absorb the sauce thus making it bland. Lychee cheesecake. This is actually the reason why I wanted to try DK. For part of my childhood, I lived on Kauai with my grandmother. She had 3 lychee trees in her backyard. I loved eating lychee and spending time with her! This lychee cheesecake is slightly rich. The texture is in between a Japanese (airier) and NY (denser) cheesecake. The portion was just enough for me to be able to finish it. If it was any bigger I wouldn't have been able to eat it all. The lychee flavor is prevalent but not overpowering. GOOD. I heard some customers complaining about the prices here, but as someone who has tried to balance a restaurant's budget and profit margins, I didn't think it was overpriced. Perhaps higher than some others but the ambiance and presentation more than makes up for it. Service was excellent. The servers were so sweet to put 2 tables together since I had ordered so much food. Lol. They were very knowledgeable and friendly. I will come back to try their fried fish and perhaps a few other items. DK was a great dining experience for me. We went here Friday evening. It was very busy with about a 10 or 15 minute wait. Staff was very friendly & attentive. We had Mai Tai and they were very good! We tried the Crab Rangoon & Jacketed Shrimp as appetizers & we split the Honey Shrimps & Crabmeat Fried Rice. Everything was delicious! It's a very nice spot. Dok Khao is a Thai restaurant located in the Potomac Town Center. There's plenty of parking and this is a great option to try if you're shopping around in the center and you're looking for some grub. The restaurant is really cute and has a French vibe to it. It features a lot of green decor with plants hanging from the ceiling. It certainly leaves an impression once you walk through the door. One of my friend's is vegetarian, and they had plenty of options to accommodate her as well. I ordered the Street Noodles ($17) and the Thai Iced Tea ($5). This place is definitely on the pricier side for Thai food. I wasn't a huge fan of the tea: I thought there was too much milk in it and I wish the tea was stronger. I liked the tanginess of the Street Noodles, however I wish it was spicier. Everything tasted good, but I just thought that there could be little improvements made. I would have to say this is one of the top restaurants for date night or a girls lunch in Woodbridge, VA. The aesthetics are cute and the staff are nice. They do not take reservations but even when I went on Mother's Day, it was full but I didn't have to wait. The host said that it averages a 20 minute wait on the most busy nights. Now to the food: I had the duck roll (amazing), healthy rolls (simple and fresh, the sauce made it super yummy), the Lamb Massamun curry (amazing; it was supposed to be spicy but it wasn't really, however, they had chili spice you could add on top...oh and the curry rice that came with it was tasty!), and sesame ginger beef (this dish was the only okay one. It was good but just okay). Nonetheless, I was pleasantly surprised by everything and will definitely be back! Now, I will also mention that I ordered the sticky rice and thai custard dessert and did not find the custard appetizing at all; the sticky rice was cooked perfectly though. Came back for a late lunch after trying it out for dinner the night before. Wasn't really too busy since it was 3:30ish on a Saturday so we got seated immediately. We ordered the Curry Puff and two Thai Teas with boba to start. The Thai tea was good, pretty typical. The boba had a range of textures from really tough, to perfectly chewy, to a little mushy. Curry puff was perfectly fried and was pretty stuffed and came with a spicy cucumber sauce which was a little sweet. My girlfriend ordered the Lychee Duck Curry and I ordered the Roti Massamun Curry. The Massamun Curry was pretty good. It was a lot of food and I loved how flavorful the broth/stew was and how much the coconut came through. The roti that came with was nice and crispy and may have been pressed in a waffle iron. I also tried the duck curry and I could taste a nice sweet hint of the lychee and there were big pieces of duck. A little gamey though. The service was solid again and everyone was generally friendly. The prices are a bit high but the food tasted high quality and portions were great. read more

The first thing you notice about this restaurant is how absolutely beautiful it is.  Everything is perfectly thought-out.  I love the gold utensils, the beautiful floral plates, the hanging baskets of flowers, and the most perfect shade of green everywhere.  I told my husband tonight that it is just as beautiful as any fancy restaurant we've been to in DC. But then the food!  I ordered the Lychee Duck Curry, and my husband ordered the Valcano Seafood.  Both of us were blown away by how delicious these dishes were.  And then we ordered the sticky rice with thai custard.  I love sticky rice, and trying it with something new (thai custard instead of mango) was really fantastic! But the best part was our server (whose name I believe was Chu).  He was so passionate about the food that we assumed he was the owner (we asked, he was not!).  He was enthusiastic about our order, and continued to recommend his favorite items for our next visit, right through the end of the meal.  It was never pushy, and his enthusiasm for the food really made us excited to be eating at his table! read more

The best thing about Dok Khao is that it is consistently good! You know how sometimes you'll have one great dish at a restaurant or one amazing server and then you go back and try something different and it never lives up to the first experience, so then you're questioning if it was just "good" because it was a new experience? Not here. I tried this place for the first time when I moved to the area about a year ago and in the midst of COVID (so it was delivery). Delivery was--and still is--super fast, the food is piping hot when it arrives, and it is always delicious. I've tried the drunken noodles, crab fried rice, pad Thai, Tom Yum soup, and a few others I'm forgetting and I always always get the Lychee tea as a sweet treat (it is VERY sweet lol). When I finally went to dine-in at the restaurant I fell in love with how beautifully it's decorated.
