The clerk was friendly and efficient and told us that the platter would take 20 minutes to prepare. The platter was huge with 42 pieces of sushi. The tuna and salmon were very fresh. The crab rolls were huge and my favorite. They were generous with the wasabi. This was by far the best sushi we had on our visit to Honolulu. The Cafe is in a small strip mall across from Kahala Mall. They have about 8 tables for eat in dining. We took our food to go. There was a steady stream of customers ordering while we waited. Their original location is in Chinatown and I've always passed by but never gotten a chance to try. When I heard they opened one in Kahala, I was eager to give it a try! They share a lot with Assaggio and UPS. My cousin introduced our family to this place during one of our gatherings. Everyone loved it. Their sushi is big and filling. After that, I started to go there often. Everything is honestly yummy, but I love their garlic seared set. They lightly seared the top of the fish and the garlic mayo they use is yummy. Staff there are very nice and in fact is Chinese owned. This place gets super busy during big holidays, like Mother's Day. Recommended to place phone orders ahead of time! Expect to wait a little bit if you are picking during peak hours. I've learned if you are doing phone orders for gatherings to not pick up during peak time. Love coming to Domo Cafe because it's one of the only poke shops that offer seared poke bowls! I've been to this place twice and both times I've gotten the seared salmon poke bowls. The ratio of poke, rice, and sauces are perfect and the sear is also on point - enough to taste the sear, never too burnt and enough to taste the freshness of the fish. They only offer seared salmon for the bowls but would love to have the option of subbing it with the seared ahi (correct me if I'm wrong if they do do that, would love to try it) I like coming to this location because it's on the main road on Waialae and has its own parking lot. I even went out of my way to say no onion and no green onion and no sauce just in case they had sauce with it. False advertisement and dangerous. My sister shared a sushi promo from Domo Cafe in Kahala that she thought was a good deal. It was their Sunday Football Special called the HBK Kazoku Platter. It comes with 40 pieces of nigiri sushi for $45. The platter came with Ahi, Aburi Garlic Ahi, Salmon, Aburi Garlic Salmon and California Rolls. We had to call in to preorder and it took about 30 minutes to pick it up. No big deal because the games were playing. My friend went to pick up the platter on his way to my place. He messaged me "Holy f*ck, we're gonna need help?" when he got there. I was a little confused because I was told by someone that their sushi pieces were smaller for platters. When he got to my place, I saw the platter and the nigiri pieces were HUGE!! What a nice surprise! There was no way we would finish it but we did make a small dent. I typically don't like any mayonnaise type sauces on my sushi but the Aburi Garlic Salmon and Aburi Garlic Ahi were the best pieces in the platter. The Salmon and Ahi followed with the California Roll falling last from best to least favorite. This is not amazing quality fish but for the price, it's not bad and a good deal. First off, I put in a phone order prior and said pick up at 3 pm. They said okay can do and took my number. I showed up early at 2:53 and paid and they said okay 5 more minutes and it should be done since I was early and to have a seat they'll let me know when my order is ready. I sat, I waited, the girl who told me to sit looked at me and watched me sitting. She packed her stuff up and went on her phone then proceeded to end her shift and again gave me eye contact before walking out the door. I moved closer to the orders and finally asked at 315 if my order was ready yet. It was in fact the orders I saw sitting there from before. But that girl didn't inform me that it was ready after she said to sit. I wasn't trying to be one of those impatient people and waited nicely until I really needed to leave and had to ask at that point. If I didn't need to drop this off I would've returned it and asked for a refund because I was pissed at that point. Maybe an off day? Maybe communication needs to be better? We did order a sushi set of California Roll, 2 salmon And 2 spicy bomb in addition to individual poke bowls. I thought the shoyu onion poke bowl was pretty good. The California rolls were stuffed with imitation crab and tasted alright. The bomb spicy in a cone sushi was probably the best part of this order. The sweetness of the cone with the neutral rice and the spicy ahi poke made for a tasty treat! The salmon sushi with rice was pretty good too. Ordering over the phone was easy. Parking is just past the UPS store on the corner and generally there is enough. The price was reasonable as well. People are coming and going. 20% off all orders in January - you bet your socks it was busy. The total time it took to wait in line and get our food was about 40-45 minutes. Not sure if this will change over time, but expect the typical busier times (dinner, weekends) to have waits. We got the mixed poke bowl and the spicy ahi poke bowl. FISH WAS FRESH. Had less-fresh poke bowls in the past, so we know when the fish is fresh. No fishy smells or taste - just soft, tender pieces of ahi you wish lasted longer. The mixed poke bowl had shoyu poke and spicy ahi poke. The shoyu poke was good - pretty plain, lightly salted, but nonetheless delicious. Onions were complimentary and not overwhelming. The spicy ahi poke was interesting. It was not too mayo-y (YES), spicy, and had a beautiful sweetness from a sweet and spicy chili sauce of some sort. A marriage of flavor that produced a verbal "AHH". I really enjoyed that spicy ahi poke. (Also, yes it did have a nice kick.) Prices were pretty good (aside from the January discount). I'd say this is about average for poke bowls and dare say, even on the lower side of what you'd expect to pay for poke bowls. Crossing fingers prices don't go up. I am very happy I tried them - tasting the hype and taking advantage of that grand opening discount. They were very impressive, in terms of taste and (more importantly) freshness of their poke. I will definitely have them in consideration when craving fresh fish when I am in the Kahala area. But I was excited about kahala Domo's opening because of their 20% opening discount. The ordering process was a little confusing. Their online menu doesn't have some things I think and the descriptions are a little confusing. They also don't have their drink menu online... Picked up our food quickly and the staff is nice. I got the sashimi bowl and a calamansi lilikoi tea. With the 20% discount, it came out to about $15. It's a little pricey I think and I'll be sad when the 20% discount is over. If you love to get seared garlic type sushi at Genki or Kuru Kuru (like me), this is the place to go! I got the B5 set which comes with 8 pieces, all seared garlic ebi, hamachi, ahi and salmon. At $10.95, it comes out to about $1.50 per piece. Pretty good deal! I also ordered some salmon nigiri, which were nice and fresh. Their avocado smoothie was less creamy than others I've had, but it was refreshing. I'd say this sushi place is a step up from Kozo's, its nearby competition. Just about 10 people prior to us, were waiting around for their orders. But we placed our order nonetheless and waited about 20 min for our order to be ready.
