I've stopped here on my way back into Richmond from Vancouver many many times and it's always been pleasant. They offer TONS of options to make your donair exciting like pineapple for example. One of the best deals in the Marpole area if you're hungry and looking for something to fill you up. I always order Chicken lebanese. I see at least 4 different guys working there now (May 2013) and most guys are very generous with chicken and other ingredients. But there is one guy who doesn't give you a lot unless you ask. I want a lot when i get donair. C'mon, I need some consistency here! Other than that I'm well pleased. I see some reviewers complaining about a line. Well, think about it. When an eatery is empty that's never a good sign. Just be happy that many people agree that their food is good. Besides, learn to go there when it's less crowded. I have eaten at this location on many occasions without ever having a problem, until today. I went 40 minutes before close to order take out (which may be the reason why) when I got home the entire plate was cold. I literally had to microwave the chicken and rice for a minute just to be able to eat it, the rice didn't seemed to be cooked, and was basically mush. This is my first time writing a review for a restaurant because I am that disappointed with the quality of food that I received, I would have much rather be turned away then be given that slab of food. It is especially disappointing since the several other times I've come to this location the food and the service have been excellent. Maybe it was a one-off but take my advice and never go to this location 1-2 hours before close, go in the daytime when it actually looks like they care about the food they serve. read more

I used to eat at the place frequently. The other day I had most unplesant eperience. There is a couple running the place now. I ordered a take out and was having a bite on my way out. The guy started yelling at me saying that either I should sit down and eat or go home and eat. I didn't think it was a big deal but I still apologised. He continued to mutter in his mouth while I was headed for the door. So I asked him is that how he behaves with a regular client. He started abusing me ( some of it was racially directed.Couldn't understand much as it was Persian. ) and asked to never come back again. His wife kept apologising to me saying he was over worked. I used to be the guy that would eat anything anywhere but Jen has made me into to a bit of a freak by most guy standards. I now care (just a little) if a joint is clean and this place is. The guys that work here wash their hands between every donair purchase so that they don't contaminate the food with dirty money hands. The chicken plates is good the falafel is pretty decent although I like the chicken better. The chicken is spiced well and the sauces are good. Get it loaded with everything to max out the experience. read more

This is the most awful donar dump I have ever had the unpleasant luck to visit.it was dirty the server didn't wash his hands after taking cash.when I asked if he wouldn't mind washing his hands before he made my donar he was rude and said it was good enough. My friend had his and when he heard the guy wasn't being clean he spit out his fist.bite and we walked out. I have asked others and it's always the same response from people that have been there.the staff is agressive and plain rude . Unfortunately this app doesn't have a 0 for ratings. I had one of the most unfortunate take-out experiences ever here. Upon walking in, the first guy greeted me and took my order: a falafel wrap. I watched him make it, and he didn't ask me anything; usually they offer options, but he just made it the way he made it. Then at the end, he loaded it up with schwarma, and I realized he was filling a take-out order he was working on when I walked in. Then he had to do something else, so he handed my falafel to the second guy. It was a bit awkward, and I wasn't sure the second guy had washed his hands. The second guy wrapped up my falafel, and brought it to the till and started ringing it in. Then his cel phone rang, and he started talking to the owner about the debit machine and something that had happened earlier in the day. I looked at the clock and noticed that it had been ten minutes since I ordered my food and I still didn't have it, and the second guy said, "just a minute" and walked in the back. The falafel was sitting right there in front of me, and I was really hungry, but it wasn't mine because I hadn't paid for it yet. Pure agony, like when a waiter finally brings your soup and you don't have a spoon. I wait a minute and say, "screw it" and begin eating the falafel. Second guy comes back and I say, "I started without you." He rings it in, and I've got to juggle the falafel and my debit card. The worst thing is, neither guy knew they had done anything wrong. They were just oblivious. That's the problem with this place. The staff leave basic courtesy at home when they come to work. They just do what they've been told, because they're not being paid to think. How was the falafel? Not very good. It was made with no attention and care. When you make yourself a sandwich, you pay attention to how much of each ingredient, whether it's the right amount to make for a pleasant meal. No such attention at Donair Spot. Just pile stuff in like they've been told, no clue what they just did. I will not go back, and the sad thing is, the owner can't get any help with this by talking with the staff, because they honestly don't know. And there's nothing wrong with either of them. I usually go to this place with great service and food. Today was just terrible food safe hazard! The worker with sores on his face was helping the customer in front of me he dropped a piece of chicken in the man's hummus then took his gloved hand and dug it out of the sauce, so his hands were covered with hummus then he tries to serve me with the same gloves , I asked him to change them and he said why? Like seriously?!?! Because they are dirty like isn't it common sense and you are supposed to change your gloves between customers by the way. So he changes his gloved with attitude like hello it's ur job. Then he asks me if I want all the vegetables I clearly said no tomato and he puts tomato. Then I say that I said no tomato he drops the food on the counter and tells his partner " can you help this girl with her no tomato" And proceeds to help the next customer. Wow that was the worst service I experienced. The next guy continues I told him no tomato 2 times and still there are pieces of tomato in my wrap like what are these people thinking if I was allergic to tomato and i didn't see he left the tomato in the wrap I could have died. This is a serious issue and they just took it lightly. The employees are usually great at this place like I said but this was the worst experience at any restaurant I had. Just ridiculous. read more

This place is really hit and miss. Around lunch time the food can be delicious and savory but if you go there first thing in the morning you get yesterdays leftovers and cold rice... If you visit them latenight then you`re probably going to get leftovers. This place used to be alot better before the owner opened several more locations, since then it`s kind of gone downhill... Last time I went there the tabooli and tomatoes were kind of left over and mushi plus the tabooli was chopped up very coarsely.. the beef was cut too thick.. the sauce tasted old.. Love the shawarmas...so tasty and filling but I am increasingly worried about the food safety especially since the last two times there, we noticed that hand washing was only a quick rinse with water!!!!!!!! One time witnessed was after handling cash and am wondering how hands are washed after doing other things???? . I think that gloves would be in order and staff need to be trained in how to wash hands properly...am very hesitant to keep buying there until that change has been made! read more

I wanted to give this place a single star because of the blunt taste of the chicken, I used to go this place at least once every month between 2006 and 2010 but the ownership and the chef changed and my tastebuds started to dislike this place. Yesterday my brother took me to this place for lunch after a very long time and the service was really good, the only reason why I gave it a three star. The shawarma was so tasteless but it was of a really good quantity I mean huge filling for $7.49. I wonder how it will be for the super wrap which roughly cost $2 more. The person who used to run this place back in 2006 to 2010 was really good in making that chicken flavourful. Anyways the ladies that were in did a good job with pleasing the customers with courtesy and politeness. To please the customers completely the food should also taste great. A job half well done. Being a middle eastern / Lebanese / Greek food enthusiast the shawarma I got yesterday is just half a star. I did eat the entire thing without wasting even a small bit cause it's inhuman to waste food when there are millions starving. read more

This has been my go-to place since I moved into the area a couple of years ago and was always great. Lately, however, everything about this place is just getting worse and worse. This time when I went and got the lamb platter, the lamb didn't have any taste, the rice and meat were cold, and the garlic sauce, hummus, and sweet sauce were all watery and pretty tasteless. Also, I don't know if it's because some of the previous staff knew me as a regular or what, but the amount of rice, hummus, and meat has decreased.
