Been twice in the last week .. Perfect food.. Fresh ,hot and delicious..

I can't believe I'm having to write this review, as I have been a long-time loyal customer of Dos Coyotes. Over the years, I have eaten at every location in the Sacramento area. On every other occasion, I have received excellent service and delicious food. During my most recent visit however, I experienced unacceptable behavior from the Folsom location staff. We entered the restaurant at 8:45 pm... they were closing at 9pm, but we were just running in for a quick bite and we presumed that they would tell us that we'd have to take it "to go" if our late arrival was a problem. It wasn't. We ordered and sat, and our food arrived quickly. But then, at around 8:55, the staff began to prepare for closing (which is understandable) but there was one female employee who began to VERY loudly (and deliberately) push the heavy chairs and tables around tiled area immediately surrounding us with complete disregard for the fact that we were dining. The sound was deafening and unbearable... the acoustics of the restaurant amplified the noise and made it very unpleasant which was CLEARLY her intent. She wanted us to leave. I made eye contact with her to remind her that we were there, but it only seemed to strengthen her resolve to make as much noise as possible. After a couple more minutes, we could take no more. I asked for the manager and explained the problem; he instructed her to stop. The manager went back into the kitchen, but from that point forward, the loud employee continuously glared at us and we saw her whisper to another employee as they both turned around to look at our table. VERY unprofessional behavior. I should add that when we left, there were still three other tables occupied (they were occupied when we came in). The behavior of the employees that night is absolutely unacceptable. The restaurant chose to take our money and to serve us in their dining room, 15 minutes before closing. Dos Coyotes doesn't get to have it both ways... they don't get the TAKE the money for our order but then not GIVE customers an acceptable dining experience. We have a right to dine in an enjoyable atmosphere, whether it's at 8:45pm or at 6pm. Customers should not be "punished" for enjoying the meal we paid for because the employee doesn't approve of us being there. Retaliation by your employees should NOT tolerated; bad behavior is a terrible business practice. While the manager at the location was pleasant enough when I spoke to him, I did not have confidence that this would be handled at that store level. The fact that the employee felt comfortable enough to make the noises in the first place (with the manager there) and then also felt comfortable to shoot dirty looks to us makes it pretty evident that this is typical and acceptable behavior at this location. For this reason, I emailed corporate. One week later and I have YET to get a reply... so here I am on social media. Oh, and P.S.... I was dining with my French exchange student that night... I brought her to Dos Coyotes so that she could experience what I consider as one of the "best of the best" in Sacramento. What an embarrassment for Sacramento, and Dos Coyotes! read more

Dos. This is one of the few places pretty close to the office that I visit fairly regularly. There is one really good reason for this - a big reason. A reason as big as your damn head! I'm talking about the Adobe salad, baby!! Also because one of the folks I work with suggests it every single time we go to lunch... "A salad" you ask? "BFD" you might say! But yes, a salad. That's a weird-looking word - salad, salad, salad... Where was I? Oh yes, the Adobe Salad. I typically order this with grilled chicken, and the thing is so damn big, that you'll need a nap after eating it. The ingredients (copied and pasted from their website!): "Mixed salad, corn, jicama,red onion, cheese, tomatoes, sour cream & guacamole with Southwestern vinaigrette." Add to this a generous portion of grilled chicken, and the fact that the whole thing is piled up on a big-ass flour tortilla, and you have a salad that will keep you going for days! I have tried a number of other items here, including the Border Burrito, the Lean and Mean Market Burrito and the mahi mahi tacos. All pretty good, but for burritos, I prefer something a little more down to earth (like La Favorita, for example), and the tacos are a little spendy for what you get, I think. They do have a nice salsa bar too, which is always a plus, since I like to douse my salad (or other foods) in extra-spicy goodness! Beware of the parking lot here though. It's weirdly laid-out, and parking fail is the rule, not the exception... If you want to eat something that will fill you way the heck up, while indulging in the illusion that you are not overeating because "hey, it's a salad!", then get thee to Dos Coyotes! read more

Oh Dos, how I've missed you. I used to order the Santa Fe nachos EONS ago at the location in Roseville. I see they're still just as freaking tasty as they were back then! Tons of cheese and chicken, and the chicken was grilled perfectly- not dry. Salsa bar= A+ Bonus points for the friendly, fast, and very clean establishment. And now I know that it's really close to my house. I'm in trouble! read more

We ate here last night after seeing the movie Fury with Brad Pitt at the Century 14 theatre. My first time here. Really nice staff and very tasty food. While we didn't order the guac with chips we did see it being delivered to several tables and it was piled high. You walk up to the counter and order then they give you a number and find you at your table when your order is up. One of us ordered the green chile enchiladas @ $8.75 for chicken and the other (I) ordered the Original Coyote Taco @ $3.45. All in all, meal for 2 under $20 as we both ordered water to drink. Oh, and the soda/water machine there is Jetson's new age. Lots of salsa choices at the salsa bar. We will be going back. read more

Got the Yukatan salad, basically paid $12 for lettuce and black beans. There was maybe 5-6 small pieces of chicken on it. The lettuce was huge and not sliced up. I won't be coming here again! Waste of money read more

Amazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing! Took a trip to the Sacramento Temple. Stopped here for lunch before heading back to the Bay. Had the Yolo Mango Burrito and a vanilla Coke. Loved every bite and took what I didn't finish home. Yes, it's a little loud, but nothing particularly invasive. Appreciated the tip to grab the menu the second you walk in so you can figure out what you want to order before you go up to the cash register. Food came out quick and was, again, DELICIOUS. Best burrito I've had in some time--maybe ever. Oh, and the bathrooms are clean. And they have one of those giant soda machines with a million different flavors. Basically, this place is full of win and, if I didn't live an hour and a half away, I'd be a regular. read more

Let's be clear - this is excellent fast food. It's good-ish food and they do a nice job, friendly staff. If they want more than 3 stars, they need to get rid of that ridiculous soda machine, which slows everyone down and is mega-annoying. And they need to make the salsa spoons bigger. Are you trying to make it a slow process to spoon out some salsa? It takes four of five scoops to fill a small plastic salsa cup. And that high-tech soda machine is ridiculous. Watching people try to get soda is like watching my mom send an email. read more

I ordered the paella burrito on the suggestion of people here on yelp and it was delicious. It was pretty big burrito, but the flavors were delicious and I loved the salsa bar. Another thing that impressed my coworker and I and will make us want to come back is the awesome soda machine. You get to choose SO many different flavors of soda. It does get long if a line starts to form, but it's such a cool machine that I wouldn't mind. Will be back! read more

Dos is on my regular lunch rotation. The food is an interesting (in a good way) variation on Mexican. It's definitely not traditional. I'd say it's more like California-style Mexican with some southwest flavors thrown in. They switch up the featured menu items several times a year, and I always enjoy trying whatever is new. My current seasonal favorite is the shrimp & scallop burrito. They also have a nice variety of salsas. I'd give the restaurant 5 stars, but there are two minor issues. First, parking is nearly impossible if you don't arrive for lunch before 11:45am. The parking lot is ridiculously small for the number of businesses located in the strip mall. Second, it is really difficult to carry on a conversation during lunch without screaming due to the awful acoustics inside the restaurant. It's like being in a big concrete box with 70 other people who are also trying to talk. Thankfully there's a nice outdoor seating area, which I prefer when the weather is good. read more

Folsom, you do not know how lucky you are. And neither did I, until I moved away. If it is your first time, you must try the Chicken Ranchero Burrito, which may be my favorite burrito on the planet. I said it! Every time I come home, this is one of the first things I eat. The other secret: the sweet verde sauce (not to be confused with the plain guac sauce). I would buy this stuff by the gallon if I could. read more

I've been eating here for years. They have your food out to you before you even sit down at a table. And on top of it, their fresh ingredients and salsa bar are #unreal. I am a vegetarian so I can't speak for the meat but their veggie tacos are to die for, and their nachos are just as good. Great place to eat and it's a favorite of mine. read more

Counter service is super easy. I am not used to this type of spanish rice - there wasn't enough tomato in it...my green chili enchiladas were good, not a lot of filling or green chile flavor though. I ate just about half. We did like the salsa bar where you can try it with the chips that are provided on within your entree. The service was prompt and we got our food right away, jsut try to beat the lunch rush by getting there right at noon or before. read more

Fresh, fresh, fresh! The Howlin' Tostada is my favorite; three crispy corn tortillas with creamy anasazi beans, lettuce, corn/black bean salsa, mango dressing, spicy pumpkin seeds, cotija cheese and fried plaintain. The mahi mahi tacos are another great choice here. The portion sizes are pretty large so if you're not starving I'd suggest splitting a dish. And don't miss out on the salsa bar, there are some great and fresh salsas there. Sounds like an odd thing to review, but the soda machine here is awesome. It's completely digital and has nearly every kind of Coke product you can imagine. Including some sodas in diet that I didn't even know existed! And fyi It's a counter service place so don't expect to be waited on at your table. I'll definitely be returning again and again. read more

This place would rate as a 4 star but there is something that bothers me. For someone as harsh as I am a four star rating is a great restaurant. They're clean, their prices are not too bad and their servings are huge. Their salsa bar is one of the best around in Sacramento and I go here often. But for some reason they are weird about their salsa. I love salsa, that's the main reason I go to Dos but their tiny tiny tiny containers don't do anyone any kind of justice. So I usually get a small to go box and fill that baby up with salsa. I even have to go back and fill it up again because that's just how much I love a good salsa. Don't try this at home. I don't mean at your home but just don't try it at all there. Because the employees will literally get MAD at you for doing it. For some reason it's against their policy to use a to-go box as a salsa container. You can use it at the table to POUR your salsa from the small saucers into the big box but you absolutely cannot cannot CANNOT put salsa directly from the salsa bar into the box. -_-;; I don't quite understand this logic because I've been in the restaurant business and I know the small sauce containers cost MORE than the salsa itself. And they use HIGH quality sauce containers... It's all very confusing as to why they won't let me save THEM money on their precious profit margin which is a few bucks at most on a 7 dollar burrito... I must have used 20x sauce containers and 5 trips from the salsa bar to my table and another to-go box on top of that to collect the salsa into one giant mixture of goodness. In all honesty they must have LOST money on my order because of all the salsa containers. But what can I do? That's what they keep telling me I have to do... Other than that, Dos is a great place. They have good food and most of all it's clean. There's a reason why I use so much salsa, it's that good. I often get the paella burrito if not the mahi mahi. Both are great and they taste fresh unlike most Mexican fast food places. It's probably the easiest to find, local chain in Sacramento which tastes good. read more

The food here is delicious! Really great portions and the food tastes fresh. The mild salsa, however, was spicy. That's my only reason for giving 4/5 stars. We went there late and they were very fast and friendly. The place was clean. Overall, it was a great experience. read more

Second time in as many trips, my rice was undercooked & dry, beans were crunchy and almost NO guac on my burrito bowl. This time the chips were old and chewy as well....I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

We really loved this place. I got the tres tacos with shrimp, mahi mahi, and steak. I loved everything about my meal except the steak was a little chewy. Not my typical experience here. Appears they lost our order. Longest wait ever for food here in all the times we have been. When asked they said they are still working on it. Right, ala carte tacos, cheese emchilada, rice, and beans. Much more complicated then a burrito. Food finally arrives with the standard "the plate is VERY hot so please dont't touch" statement. Started in on the cheese enchilada and it is barely warm inside. Seems like it may hve been pre-made, refrigerated then placed on the plate with sauce added and broiled to melt the cheese but not long enough to heat the inside. read more

Have you had your Dos Today?? Yucatan Chicken Salad is one of my favorite salads in town~~Service is always EXCEPTIONAL!! And salsa bar is great..the only thing that could improve a bit is changing out salsa's more often..sometimes gets a bit crusty around top and you can tell its been there all day! A pretty common ritual in my family is that when it's time to visit the grandparents, Dos Coyotes is the place to go. Everyone can find something they will like. We usually go to the one in Roseville but we decided to go to Folsom. Unfortunately, we had a pretty craptastic experience. Look, when it's 95+ degrees at 6:30 pm, please run air conditioning. Two or three poorly placed fans will not cut it. You're circulating hot air, people. One of the fans was actually facing the seating area, and the other was facing the front door. Maybe to try to divert the flies, but it wasn't working - we had a few at our table. The food arrived hot and plentiful as usual, and tasted good. The children's plate I got for my daughter was enormous. It looked like an entire large chicken breast had been cut up into tiny pieces, in addition to about one heaping cup of rice. Overall the service was pretty lame. The cashier/waitress couldn't wrap her head around my husband's simple order. Burrito with just beans, cheese, rice and steak. "Uh... so what kind of salsa?" "No salsa" "uhhh... what else?" "Nothing, just beans, rice, cheese and steak". "Uh..... salsa?" "No." "Uhhh......." We couldn't really enjoy our meal while sweating the whole time and with our lovely fly companions. I'll stick to Roseville where they use their AC and listen to our orders. read more

I've always liked this place, but haven't frequented it until recently, since I work up the road. Favorite thing: The Ceasar salad. It's creative - served on a tortilla, with some corn and bean salsa on it, but what really makes it is the dressing, which has just the right amount of zest and smoothness. Smoothness is a word, dammit. Second favorite thing: Drink selection. They have all sorts of stuff, including beer and bottled drinks and that sort of thing. Given that it's walking distance from my office, it's nice to be able to grab something that isn't just a fountain beverage. Third favorite: Salsa bar. This is supposed to be my first favorite, right? If I didn't find the verde to be kind of on the loathsome side, it would be. But it's too sweet and cloying for me. A definite favorite Tex-Mex place when you want a quick bite to eat. I've ventured to Dos many times before and the food and quality seems to have stayed consistent (or so as much as I can remember). They have that fancy one dispenser vending machine here now which is both enchanting and complicating at the same time. But, I digress. I ordered the shrimp tacos. The food was good. My only gripe is that flour tortilla's are not standard, instead corn tortillas are. Food came out promptly and there offer a wide variety of sauces and salsa. read more

Have you seen that Seinfeld episode when the Dominicans roll fake Cuban cigars and Kramer brings them to the USA to roll crepes?! The crepes end up exploding maiming the customers?! Well. You'll get what I mean in a second. I ordered a steak burrito. I was given a number and proceeded to go to seat outside. A few minutes later my plate of chips and burrito arrived. I picked up the burrito with both hands and by the time I made the first bite the whole burrito unraveled itself and the entire content ended up on my plate! In my hand, I had an empty round flat tortilla! Then came the challenge - how the hell was I going to eat this abomination! Anyways. I was so hungry I somehow managed. Now here's my question to the management of this establishment - your entire restaurant is mainly based on making burritos ALL DAY LONG. How the heck can you manage to mess it up so royally?! The two-star rating is for the cool soda fountain, otherwise it would be a one star rating all the way! Those that read my reviews know that I try to stay away from corporate food as much as possible. But sometimes in life you can't always have exactly what you want. So we've ended up here a few times, probably won't be back. The last visit - my burrito was just soggy and luke warm. It was brought right out to the table, but due to whatever happened in the kitchen - it was soggy and wet, and luke warm at best. It isn't the first time, it will be the last. There are regularly flies in the restaurant - which is why my better half has constantly said "if we get anything there - it's only to go" and I agree. Last time we went in for a sit down, there were flies roaming around the salsa bar, near our table, and they seemed to be attracted to the peppers hanging on the wall. The food normally is "ok' and I'd give it 3 stars, but the last couple of times we've gone it's been less than ok, and the flies and cleanliness have me questioning the whole place. For the most part, it's bland, the salsa in the mild to medium category is mediocre, and I don't like really spicy, so the hot is out. If it was a cheap hole in the wall, it would get 3 stars, but being this is corporate and should have better quality, they get 2 overall. read more

The food here is great. But the wasp problem on the patio is really not cool! Having to leave a meal early because you're fighting off yellowjackets sucks. And this has been going on for years. You'd think they'd have fixed it by now. Tasty food though; try the shrimp burrito. But for your safety and peace of mind, eat it indoors. Upscale yet casual. Fast, fresh and tasty. Great selection of beers on ice and on tap. Its a great day for a lunch on the patio and I recommend the char broiled shrimp tacos. Can't wait to try more off the menu. read more

Love this place. I have been to 4 locations. this being the most recent one. Everytime we go no matter what locations, we have a good experience. They are always fast,clean and food is great. I love the soda machine. You can add just about any flavor to any drink. I usually get the chciken enchelada plate with rice and beans but sometimes I dont eat the rice and beans so this time I ordered a ranchero burrito ala carte. They were a little stingy with the cheese and sause on top but gladly gave me more with out being charged like the Davis location does. The chips are always fresh as well as the salsa. The price is resonable for the qualitly and amount of food you get. Hubby saus the fish tacos are really good and he says the cabbage salsa as well as the marinated carrots are really good. Overall great place for great food. I will always eat at Dos Coyotes when ever Im near one! read more

Great interior + good for groups/socializing. Unfortunately, food is really quite bland. For proper TexMex in the Folsom-area, I prefer Q'bole or Hacienda del Rio. I've ordered some of the chicken based dishes like the Wet Burrito, Chicken Tacos, etc. and chicken has been consistently bland (it also the same marinade in every dish, which can get boring). They grill the chicken well but what bothers me is that more than once, my chicken has had bone or cartilage in it...this should not be the case as it is a filling! I recently had the chicken tacos which only had two (underwhelming) ingredients: lettuce leaves and really thickly-shredded cheddar + moz cheese (the kind you find on a pizza :/ ). There was no onion, cilantro, no lemon on the side, or even any sauce. Chicken was nicely charred, but under-seasoned as I've usually experienced here. Luckily, they have a great and varied salsa bar so I literally doused my tacos with the various salsas. ~ If you are well-acquainted with Mexican food from SoCal or the Mission in SF, I would not recommend this place for food. read more

Okay I really like the shrimp taco. Way better than I expected as the shrimp actually has perhaps a distinctive enough flavor and texture as well as good sauce throughout the taco. Also had a carnitas and steak taco -- good enough, just not as good as the shrimp taco. The salsa they have here is so-so. Ordered a burrito a couple times but oftentimes its too much to eat but not enough to take home so you end up going back to work bloated... But it does have a decent taste. Pricing is a little expensive for what you get but again you still get good and enough food. Like the 0.75 per taco extra charge when ordering tacos is confusing or I don't know if you can order three different tacos and pay the discounted basket price because I got an expensive bill. Also, use Yelp cash back. Also, didn't know this happens to be one of the few places that takes pocket points and I was upset at myself because I noticed the day after I went here grar. read more

I was stopping in here quite often because I travel from the Bay Area and they are a quick stop for me on my was home. I've only ordered the super nachos (blue chips) I really liked them. The last time I went in, I placed my order and went over to the table and waited for them to bring it out to me .. it usually takes 5 mins or so. This time, I waited, and started wondering what is taking so long? I mean you've got 5 people behind the counter working for crying out loud ..but no one could see me sitting there looking at them going what the heck where is my food?? Finally after I noticed others getting their order be fore me, I went up there and asked them where my order was? They were going to make me a new one then they found it.. it was in the wrong staging location. Really? Your a manager and have all these people behind the counter and you couldn't see someone was waiting for their food? Of course it was cold by the time I had got home. Three stars is no knock on Dos. It is a fine fast casual establishment. The enchilada sauce is very good. The chicken is good with a smoky flavor (maybe too smoky). This location is great for families. I like it. Props - Sixton read more
