So I was waiting to do some "research" on this place before I wrote my review. I just moved to San Miguel and have eaten here three times, and every time, it delivered! Wow. The breakfast burritos are out of control. I would highly recommend the chili verde breakfast burrito. The meat is so moist and the eggs and potato and cheese are such a good compliment. I have also gotten a chicken taco salad and a carne asada burrito. They are both amazing! Such great flavored and fresh ingredients. Everything is made right there when you order, so it is definitely worth the wait! I can't wait to introduce my family and friends to this place! read more

Was on a trip down south and needed gas & a bio break. Hit the Chevron up across the street. No fast food places on this turn off and my stomach was kinda turning over at the idea of having slim Jim's & Cheetos for breakfast. Happen to notice Dos Hermanos across the street and it was open! Drove over after fueling up to see what I could get for breakfast. Ended up trying two different breakfast burros, one with Chorizo another with carne asada. Only 2 other people in the place and they make the food to order so it was about a 5 minute wait. The breakfast burros rock! Good tortillas, good rice, good cheese (all important of course). I would have to give the nod to the carne asada burro. The chorizo one was good, the other better. Hot sauce on the side was just right - not too frigging hot, not weak either. Price was reasonable as well. On my next road trip South on 5 I'll make sure to pit stop in San Miguel for another burro. read more

Driving from San Francisco to Santa Barbara, no idea if there is any good food in the San Miguel area, in desperate need of gas, my friend and I pull off at 10th Street to go to the Chevron. Across the street: Mexican food. Good or not, that is where we are going. We "chose" wisely. We both ordered carne asada burritos. First, though: homemade chips, and they were awesome. Along with good salsa and great guacamole. We both are San Francisco natives who lived in San Diego for years--we have had our share of carne asada. These burritos were good. The meat was fresh and tasty, and the filling was filling. The burritos were deceptively small at first look--I got about two-thirds through and realized I was going to have trouble finishing. The one complaint, which is easily enough remedied: the burritos are a bit dry, and the final third feels like you're eating a ton of beans. Add sour cream or have some salsa at the ready. We were driving on a hot day: they have outdoor seating under a canopy and with misters going. Definitely helped the cause. This will be a rest stop I keep in mind on future drives up and down the coast. read more

Great food. I eat here at least once a week. If time is an issue, they suggest you call in. It is a very popular spot and the food is cooked fresh to order. So if you want lunch or breakfast fast, call ahead. Did I mention to call ahead? They will tell you what time your food should be ready, and they are accurate. Usually I am able to walk in, pay for my food, and walk out within a minute. I see a lot of negative reviews about the price of food. Remember, it is California. We are on our way to $15 an hour minimum wage. If you buy the equivalent amount of food at a Taco Bell, you are going to be paying similar prices. The food is great. Like the other reviews, I was enticed by their 4.5 star rating. However, it didn't feel like they earned that rating. A meal for 2 ended up being $36, another $3 for horchata, $5 for guacamole and $2 EXTRA for CHIPS. Normally, these types of restaurants provide chips for free. Overall, they didn't make us feel welcome (made it feel like a tourist trap), which is why I give this rating a 1. Please beware of other ratings and take extra precautions before coming because this is NOT a $ sign place. It feels more like $$$. read more

I guess this place is great if you are local. Out of Towners get the shaft. The service is horrible. They brought us the wrong food three times then forgot one of our orders. NO apologies, just attitude and dirty looks. The woman at the counter over charged us. This place could use some hospitality lessons. I even tipped them over 20%, maybe that's why you have to pay at the counter before you eat. I wish I could at least get my tip back. The food isn't bad, but if you want to be treated as if your business is appreciated, go somewhere else. read more

The best Mexican food around. I always have trouble deciding between a torta, taco wrap or a burrito. The nachos and the burrito bowls are also bomb. You also can't go wrong with a burger. I purchase the green salsa so I can have it on hand at home and it is so fresh and so good. Everything is made fresh and to order so I usually call in my order in case they are busy, which they usually are because this place is popular with locals and tourists alike. I personally know people that come from over 30 miles away just for lunch! The owners are also super nice and really care about their community. I am a fan for life! read more

I traveled here from Texas and this place did not disappoint. Food was a little slow to get to the table (but I came with a larger group so it is understandable). I ordered the steak quesadillas and my stomach gives it a thumbs up! It was greasy but that made it better! The writing on the board was a little unreadable and there was a tongue-in-cheek sign saying that they have "poor service" which made me kind of scared. We stopped here for lunch on our way back from Paso Robles and ordered a taco salad and a combo meal of 2 soft tacos (chicken) with rice and beans. Yelp has allowed me to eat in places I would have otherwise turned my nose up at. This gem of a hole in the wall delivered a tasty dinner. Yes you have to order at the counter. My wife and I recently ate at the Dos Hermanos restaurant in San Miguel. This place has excellent Mexican-style food. The prices were reasonable, and the staff people were friendly. The indoor seating area of the restaurant itself is small, but there is a covered outdoor patio as well. The restaurant is not a taquería; the dishes were cooked-to-order, and we waited about twenty minutes for them. The atmosphere is utilitarian, and ambience is somewhat lacking, but the food more than compensates. We were confident when we walked in that the food would be good, since we saw at least two groups of National Guard soldiers from the nearby base eating there. read more

I was filling up my car with gas when the amazing smell of Mexican food leisurely wafted into my nostrils. Instantly, my stomach started growling! We decided to check out the spot since we were pretty hungry. I was a Torta virgin until I decided to try it at Dos Hermanos. I must say, I was DEFINITELY not disappointed. The meat was juicy and the bread tasted fresh. Loverboy thinks they could have used a more tender piece of carne asada but I think it's just fine the way it is. The breakfast burrito tastes great and it was the perfect size. Both dishes taste even better when you douse them with their homemade salsa. They're not your typical chunky salsa. They're more of the soupy texture but the amount of spiciness is on point. The salsas are sooooo good that I really wanted to drink them. I just wish they had pico de gallo available. The restaurant looks small inside but there is plenty of room to sit outside. The whole place looks really clean and the cashier was very polite. When a few of the locals/regulars came in, she was able to carry on a conversation and knew what their usual order was. I think that's a five-star rating for customer service. Also, even though you order the food at the front, the cashier lady was nice enough to check on us to see if we were doing ok. This is a definite pit stop for long trips from SF/Monterey to L.A. I can't wait to try the other items on their menu and I am looking forward to stopping by at this joint on my next road trip to SoCal. read more

Excellent Mexican food here. The burritos were not filled with guac and sour cream but instead used a kind of Spanish rice and plenty of fresh cilantro. The quesadilla was made super thick and did not skimp in the cheese. Horchata was made just the way I like it, not too thin and super sweet. Service was polite and prompt. Food was made quickly. The place is tiny, just a couple of tables not including the patio. Overall a great place for a bite. Stop in on your way to or from the Mission San Miguel just a couple blocks away. read more
