Came for lunch with my family. There was a small wait when we arrived and what appeared to be a long wait when we left, so come prepared to hang out prior to being seated. Once inside the restaurant has large tables to accommodate ordering multiple baskets of dumplings. We enjoyed a variety of bao, noodles, salads, soup dumplings, and more. Everything arrived at the table around the same time, as opposed to coming out in waves as it would in a traditional restaurant which meant some dumplings cooked quite a bit before I got to them and eating felt a bit rushed. The gist is that it not live up to expectations. The good: Great location, across the street from u-village. New location and the restaurant is clean. Prompt service / arrival of food. Shrimp dumplings tasted good. The not so good: The place is extremely noisy (open kitchen, concrete surroundings) so you can almost hear someone chewing from the other end of the restaurant. Dough Zone has become my favorite Xiao Long Bao place as it affordable and delicious. In 2024 they are going to add 2 more dumplings to the dish! I need to shout out the one of the servers at the University District location. He saw that I was making a video and told me he can open the lid for the dumplings for me slowly so I can capture the freshness. This store is more clean and open compared to the ones I went to in Bellevue or Redmond. I highly recommend the wontons in chili oil and Tan Tan noodles. read more

I came here for Jewish Christmas and it was great! We were seated right away. Service was attentive and speedy. Our waiter made some suggestions and I know he was upselling us but also his recommendations were totally correct and made for a better meal. Everything was very tasty! We ordered dan dan noodles, xiao long bay, Q-bao, pork wontons with chili sauce, sweet & sour cucumber, five spice beef shank, kale with sweet spicy garlic dressing, and beef stew noodle soup. The dishes are relative affordable and cheap, but portions tend to be on the smaller size (hence why we ordered a lot). - Xiao long baos were flavorful, filled with soup, and didn't easily break. - Beef in the noodle soup was tender, but I wish they had an option for spicy beef noodle soup to give that extra kick. - Five spice beef shank was a tad salty, but they sliced her real thin! - Sweet & sour cucumbers were beautifully cut into swirls. I think it could have used more flavoring and seasoning though. Atmosphere was clean. Service was okay. When the staff was bringing out the Q-bao to the table, one of the buns slid off the plate and landed on the table. The waiter didn't offer replacing the dish and I don't remember if he apologized. We all kinda stared at the sad fallen bun, but I didn't feel the need to ask for a replacement (and tbh just ended up eating it). At 7pm on a Saturday night we waited 45 minutes to get a table. When we finally were seated, they let us know they don't have any soup dumplings and are out of buns. Seems poor planning to run out of two of their most popular items but I'm more annoyed that they don't tell you before you sit down. Other nits: Tables are sticky. They no longer have hot sake. I've been to several different Dough Zone locations which is what is influencing the review for this one. I'll start by saying that the food was good, came out hot and service was good as well. The place is new and a very short walk from University village so it's a decent alternative if Din Tai Fung is too busy. However, the portions at this location seem to just be less. Either smaller than other locations I've been to or just less. I'm used to getting 10 Xioa Long Baos when I make an order but here they give you 6. Q-bao used to come in 6, but here you get 4 (also smaller). Dan Dan noodles seem to smaller portion too. I wish I could give this place a good review as the taste was at least consistent with other Dough Zones but I was just too disappointed (and still hungry) from the smaller portions. read more

I was so very excited when I saw that DoughZone opened, right across the street from Din Tai Fung! Being a not-so-fan of DTF (I think it's overpriced), I was very glad to go to a competitor. Next time, I'll just wait for Din Tai Fung. The $7 cucumbers, as others have mentioned was on point. Delicious. I would pay another $7 for it next time, if the other dishes were sore disappointments The dumplings, which should be the star of any dumpling-centric restaurant, failed to impress. The variety lacked creativity, and the flavors were surprisingly bland. The dumpling wrappers were thick and doughy, overshadowing the fillings, which lacked the depth of taste I was expecting. Service was another aspect that contributed to my disappointment. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive, making the overall dining experience less enjoyable. When they forgot a dish, the server took one look, and said "it's coming" without actually checking. It's disheartening when a restaurant doesn't deliver not only on the culinary front but also on the service aspect. In summary, DoughZone left much to be desired. While the cucumber appetizer provided a brief respite from the culinary letdown, the overall experience did not justify the steep prices. Came here yesterday around noon. Quite disappointed compared to my recent visit. The dandan noodles were so watery and not creamy like last time! I would have asked for a remake but since we were sharing family style, everyone taking a bite left too little and I didn't feel comfortable doing that. The pan fried dumplings also had such a sad and poor amount of that crispy skirt compared to last time too! Taste wise was fine but I really missed how much more crunchy it was last time. The saving grace was that the soup dumplings did taste better this time! The menu looked so appetizing that I chose this place for mine and hubby's 17th Wedding Anniversary dinner. The service was great and was on point with their recommendations. We ordered a feast! Everything was made to perfection and the dumplings were so fresh! We ordered the scallion pancakes, the pork wontons in chili oil, the spicy sweet garlic chicken dumplings, the wonton chicken soup, egg fried rice (not yet on the menu) and the star of the show, Yibin Noodles... OMG should have ordered 2. So good! Too bad we don't have a Dough Zone anywhere near us. I'd be there at least once a week... The price is very reasonable and was expecting a much higher bill. It's open! Same great Doughzone selection in a beautiful new space! I called in for takeout and service was polite, very swift and attentive. It's across the street from University Village and tucked away between some apartment buildings. Parking was scarce when I went- despite the snow! Looks like plenty of tables, super clean, and high tech check out. I got their Beef Noodle Stew, sweet and sour cucumber and Pork Soup Dumplings. My friends and I were hungry after a long study session and we were excited to eat some Dough Zone. Famished, we ordered off of DoorDash and we ate three pieces before UNCOVERING SIX MAGGOTS IN OUR FOOD!!!!! Who knows if we consumed any in the ones we had already eaten! They offered a measly NINE DOLLARS as compensation. Only until I demanded a full refund and stated how this was unacceptable were we given full compensation, especially since the noodles we had ordered are potentially infested as well. The guy we were speaking with was COMPLETELY unfazed. He didn't even deny it and actually explained how it probably happened giving a whole step by step. He said that they get massive orders and they don't have time to check to make sure everything is clean. What's worse is that they cook the broccoli with the noodles as well, so who knows what else is contaminated with WORMS?!?! If this is their standard, what about their other food?? His response told me that this has definitely happened on multiple occasions. If my friend had not dipped into the sauce, we would've have never known because who thinks about this while eating?? Terrible parking but great food. it's tucked back in the corner with very little street parking. The food is worth driving around for a space. Everything we tried was delicious. I loved the cucumber spirals and the pan fried dumplings. The green onion pancake was not greasy at all. They were out of soup dumplings, so we didn't get to try those. This is a great place to go for dumplings, and it's half the price of bigger places like, maybe, DTF. It has less variety, but it's just as good. read more

I did a takeout order today. Called at 5:13pm for 2 pork & crab xiaolong bao, 1 order of pan fried Q-bao and 1 order of pork & shrimp potstickers. I was told it would be about a 20-30 minutes wait. I arrived about 40 minutes later (very limited street parking, or you can park across the street at U-Village) and my order couldn't be found! The hostess found it in the computer after I told her what I ordered and what time I ordered - she told me the order was just missing the pan fried dumplings and it would be another 5 minutes. It obviously was not because checking in, about 9 minutes later, the takeout bag was empty when another staff member found the bag and prioritized it. I finally got my order at 6:17pm over 1 hour from placing my takeout order! I saw multiple people pick up orders during my 20+ minutes wait in the restaurant. I should also mention that I saw several tables open with napkins and chopsticks, however when I left there were not only people waiting inside and also outside the restaurant. The restaurant seemed to be staffed well so I'm not sure why people weren't being seated. There's definitely room for improvement. read more

We ordered Coke zeros & they come in a cold can served with a glass of ice, so no refill unless you buy another one. They refill your water very often though. They were very attentive with their service & cleared any plates promptly. It was pretty loud in there, they have tall ceilings and concrete walls, which is ok with me but not for some people. There's no parking because it's in the middle of student housing but we parked in front of the Bank of America across the street at u village. The food and ambiance get 4 stars, and the service - 2 stars. There is a table near the kitchen exit that everyone walks by, and that's where they sat our family of 4 twice. The second time we objected and they reseated us. They didn't give us the fresh ginger any of the 3 times we were there. They may have forgotten once at the one Downtown, but generally, they do bring it, albeit in small quantities. At Din Tai Fung, they always bring fresh ginger, and the portions are good. To me, ginger is the key part of the meal if you're getting dumplings, so this is a disappointing hassle at the Dough Zone. Overall, if it weren't the most convenient location relative to where we live, I would skip the University District Dough Zone. read more

Glad to see Dough Zone near U Village. We always like it better than Din Tai Fung for cheaper price with similar quality. However, we were a bit disappointed with this one. We went on a Sunday evening, and it's quite busy and it' seemed under staffed. We ordered green onion sauce noodle, but it didn't have much taste. The waiter was in a rush and dropped the pieces of banana pancake on the table without saying anything. We felt that the management needed to improve to provide more training and have the food consistent with other locations. Otherwise you won't win over Din Tai Fung. read more

Servers are professional and polite. I love how the tables are clean and have chili sauce, soy sauce, and vinegar so you can mix up your dips at your leisure. We have been to their Bellevue locations and the Redmond one. All similar menus, we typically get their Qbao and a starter (love the cucumber), a noodle dish, and a steamed dumpling. Checkout was quick and clean, much like other businesses in the area, they will ring you up at your table and if you pay with card super easy to take care of the bill. read more
