On the recommendation of some friends, we ate here for dinner last night on our way to the University of Arizona basketball game. The place was packed so we were very glad that we had made reservations a couple of weeks ago. We were seated pretty quickly. Three out of four of us got the pizzas and the other person got a salad. I don't know how he felt about the salad because I forgot to ask, but all of us who got pizzas absolutely loved them! We all got "the square pizza with the crisp buttery crust" as it was described and recommended by our waiter. OMG!!!! SOO delicious! The frozen margaritas were very yummy as well; so refreshing!!! I went for an late lunch early dinner since it was still happy hour. (3:45 pm) Gavin the bartender was fabulous. I asked about the red and rose house wine. He let me taste both. I liked the rose especially since we are still pretty warm in weather. I ordered the burger for my meal. Cheese burger with fries. It was not very busy which is what I expected at that time of day. My burger took a little longer than I thought it should being that there was really no one in the place. Of course I know how that is since I have been a server, prep cook, cook on the line, hostess, bus boy and dish washer for many years. There is always a slow down when the lunch rush is over. I had another glass of the rose and then my burger came. The 1st bite I took the the burger tasted burnt. I thought maybe it was just that spot but no the whole outside edge was burnt. I picked off the outside edge to show Gavin. By the time he asked me about the food I had already taken 2 to 3 bites. He offered to have them make me a new one but I know how that can be. Gavin was really very good about everything, I even had a 3rd glass of the rose. The 3 stars I gave were for Gavin and only Gavin. The table just across from me had waited an hour before they got their food. The manager came and talked with them. The food is okay but over priced if you were to pay reg. prices. Happy was good because of Gavin and the wine. Will I go back again...maybe but probably only if I want some place close to my home and to enjoy the wine. I also do not understand (other than cost) that the open ceiling is a good thing. When that place gets busy you cannot hear one another talk becasue the acoustics are awful. You might as well be in a barn but wait that is even better than the open ceiling in these new places. Then again maybe that is what they want people to eat, drink and get out. This location is beautiful! It has a great bar if you just want drinks but I recommend grabbing a table! The service was impeccable! Our server was friendly, kind and incredibly attentive! My food came out a bit cold and she noticed right away and had it remade! The manager came over to personally apologize and even removed it from the bill and treated us to a desert as well! I was blown away! I wasn't even going to say anything! My meal came back hot and delicious! The entire restaurant had this level of service! Doughbird is basically a bad diner with pretensions. A big-city diner serves much better food, by experienced wait staff. I was really surprised how lousy it was. read more

Don't bother going. A Sam Fox experience but I bet he doen't know what is going on under his nose. Had a reservation and waited 30 minutes and was told the table would not be available up to an hour plus more or a 90 minute wait. I'm not making this up. The hostess refused to ask the party occupying my reserved table who had paid their bill and was simply sitting there talking for 30 minutes to kindly leave. She explained that any party has the right to occupy the table for up to 3 hours. Yes, 3 hours. All other tables, many empty were reserved and unavailble. Unbelieveable. So even if you have a reservation you don't have a reservation. Lots a luck with this crew. read more

There was a lot of hype around this place opening in Tucson and it definitely lived up to it! Definitely make a reservation. Kids loved the chicken tenders. Dry rub wings were fantastic. Detroit pizza was a solid B+. Very nice atmosphere! read more

We ordered pizza (arugula, prosciutto, Carmel used onion and goat cheese) a full chicken with a side and Lebanese hummus. The pizza literally was bread with arugula and a few small pieces of prosciutto. Embarrassing to serve to a guest! The side of broccoli for the full chicken was in a tiny to-go container for for a sauce - it was 4 pieces of soggy broccoli. The hummus was delicious but veggies we ordered soggy (especially cauliflower). SO disappointing as we order regularly and have had a few "misses" lately. read more

The Pizza is delicious. The Chicago style is thick and deep but not heavy. Very light and airy. The sausage and mushroom pizza was Da Bomb! The service was very attentive and wanted to ensure we had everything needed. read more

The chicken strips literally melt in your mouth! The drinks are fabulous! We usually sit at the bar but tonight we tried the restaurant seating. We had the Italian salads. The service was superb! We followed the GM Deja from Blancos and Tacos. Her attention to friendly service is unsurpassed, it's no surprise the service here is amazing with her leadership. Great roasted chickens and a great dining experience. We also enjoyed their pizza and lemon mirage pie

So far we've tried the pizza, chicken fingers, rotisserie chicken, and the burger. Everything was great EXCEPT for the chicken fingers, which were really really salty. It's a shame because I'd be ordering them at least twice a week if they dialed in the seasoning better. I couldn't really eat more than 2.5 of them before growing exhausted from the salt. Fries were overly salted as well. Sounds like a small issue, but it's enough of a problem that I won't be ordering them again. Hoping that they see this and consider adjusting the seasoning! Expensive as hell!! However, I won't lie, the pizza I had was banging!! Best pizza I've had in a long time. I got the truffle with mushroom and spicy honey! I at the whole thing by myself! I wish I could give this place a zero, the food took about 35 minutes to come out, and our waitress asked if we would like an appetizer. She acted like the appetizer was because the food was taking so long. Once we got the bill we notice that the appetizer was on the bill. The appetizer did not even come out early. We ended up eating our appetizer and our food at the same time. My chicken entrée was cold, and my daughter's chicken wings was cold too. We did carryout from Doughbird last week and it did not work well. The parking lot situation is very confusing and it was hard to know where to go for pickup. My husband had to go inside the restaurant next door to find out. Then my husband waited in his car for food that did not appear (we had written down the make and model of his car, etc.) so he had to go inside and stand in line to get the order. The food varied. The roast chicken and butternut pizza were very good. The brussel sprouts were so charred they tasted like charcoal briquets and should have never left the kitchen. And they were eleven dollars which seemed very pricey. So since Doughbird is new and their chicken is very good, I would give them another try but they need to do better with takeout. read more

Ordered tenders for take out. Was quoted 45 minutes for pick up, and when I got my food it was ice cold and overcooked. I know they're just tenders but really shouldn't be that hard to provide hot food to guests. read more

Visited first time today. Husband ordered Aviator pizza-great per him. Maple glazed bacon gave it salty/sweet which he really likes. He had spicy blackberry margarita. Spicy for real but not "hot". I had shaved Brussels salad. Lemon vinaigrette and dates really made it. Could have used a crunchy ingredient. I had "the original" cocktail. Very nice. Martini sized so the all alcohol contents are not too much. For desert we split the lemon meringue pie. The graham cracker crust had a very strong cinnamon flavor that overwhelmed the lemon but the flavor of the lemon and texture of meringue along with the blackberry compote were really good when separated. i'm visiting from out of town on a business trip, so I placed a to go order. I ordered the wing appetizer, truffle cheese bread, and avocado salad. I did the dry-rub wings and the flavor was decent, but they were so dry I couldn't eat them. They also came with no sauce or dip of any kind. The truffle cheese bread was pretty flavorful and delicious, but also had no sauce with it. I could only eat a few pieces with nothing to break up the flavor of the truffle and garlic as it built up. Finally the avocado salad, I ordered this without bacon and did not catch the blue cheese part and was unable to eat it being pregnant. Overall, super disappointing since I received no sauces, and no utensils with a to go order. My bag was stapled shut at the takeout window in front of me and I was never showed my food. I will always double check my food now before I leave, even if I'm made to feel I shouldn't look in the bag because it's shut. read more
