Tucson... run, don't walk, to Doughbird. Everything you expect will be challenged. It has a Gatsby / 1920s/ Boutique vibe. Beautiful bar. Intimate but spacious dining room. Service is fantastic. The food is worth it. The Local Cocktail is the beverage for the gods. Highly recommend. Started with the Avocado salad that balanced the blue cheese with the candid bacon. I enjoyed the Prime Rib, and the broccolini side (my substitute) may have changed my life. Lemony and cheese all at once. My partner enjoyed the salmon with crispy Brussels sprouts. Yum! Finished with the Butterscotch Cake (crispy, with sweet cake, and a decadent gelato) and Lemon Meringue Pie (the custard is perfect with the warm berries). All in all, I cannot wait to come back. Had a lunch meeting with colleagues, and was very pleased with the truffle cheese bread, anytime I see truffle i am intrigued and these were very tasty, served with a red sauce...very good. Also of the appetizers ordered we sampled the cast iron shishito peppers and the guacamole with pimiento cheese, the toasted everything baguette was awesome on its own! Went here last night for first time. It was packed for a wed night but we got seated quickly. We shared a hand stretched pizza and wings. Both were so delicious!! Service was quick. The service was great. Ambience fine, however the food and prices not so much. We've gone twice, ordered different items each time. This last time we ordered two entrees and two apps, no drinks or desserts- $100 including tip. The chicken sandwich was similar to Popeyes, but far less tasty. The apps were Pizza Hut quality. If they improved the cooking/recipes, I'd have no issue with the cost, but to be that basic and low quality - no thanks. Super bummed. Heard a lot about this place so decided to check it out. Let me just say that right from the entrance it felt very unwelcoming. The clientele seems to be very stuck up, and so do the staff we interacted with. We went for lunch and decided to try a couple of things on the menu, prime rib sandwich, and a couple other things. 1st of all let me say how over priced this place is: I don't mind paying good prices for amazing food, but this is as way below par. Cheese bread came out and the portion was super small for $15 really. Unbelievable, it could feed a 4 year old. Next was the pizza, sandwiches and sides. I've had better pizza at home using Boboli crust and making it my own. The wait staff was very dismissive and not present to our table but very attentive to the tables around us. Not sure if they thought we didn't have $ or what, but I can assure you we make more than 75% of the people in the place. They should never judge a book by its cover. Overall. Food portions was poor, quality was poor and service was way below par and cost was just idiotic. We left hungry and went down the street to Prep & Pastry and had a complete different experience. Great service and great food. the doughbird could learn a lot from them. Sadly this was a let down and will never go back and before management writes some automated response to this. Just save time. A few things to consider when writing this review . First and foremost, I love Fox restaurants and overall they know what they are doing !! The ambience, location, colors and theme is perfection , and there designers are on point ! When we came to this new location, we did not have a reservation , HOWEVER, we were the first group of people there even before the restaurant opened . Call me crazy, but even I a place is not going to fill up that fast and there is no reason why we had to the amount of time we did . When we to our table , it took about 25 minutes for anyone to even come back and ask us for our orders , even after we had asked for someone several times . Again , we probably would have left but we had children with us . And now the food ...thank goodness for the good!! The menu is simple , and absolutely fabulous !! Since it was an early lunch , I had the shaved brussels salad with rotisserie chicken ...MMMMM MM MMMM! Delicious !! I sampled some of the pizza my friends got and it too was yummy, but the golden ticket is this rotisserie chicken guys !!! Please do not order anything else ! Absolutely incredible food. We wanted to try a little bit of everything. The brussel sprouts were perfectly crispy and flavorful. We ordered the copper hat pizza which was such an interesting a fun combination of ingredients, we loved it. The chicken tenders were amazing, can't even describe how good the breading is on the tenders. So light and fluffy and melts in your mouth. We tried a few other menu items but the last one that stuck out to me was the brookie. That was to die for, absolutely delish. I also tried their peach yuzu frozen margarita, also very yummy. We just got back from Doughbird. The food was excellent. My husband who hates EVERYTHING had the chicken bolognese. He practically licked the plate. We tried the Brussel sprout appetizer. It was so good that it was hard to describe. I was able to salvage a little to bring home. The chef put the meats, zucchini, peppers, onion and mushrooms in with lots of cheese in a bowl. I can't have the starch. The sauce was wonderful because it wasn't too tomatoey acidic (is tomatoey even a word?). It was decadent. I brought plenty home. We will definitely be back. My "coupon only" husband even said that was one place we'll keep going back too. In fact.. he just came in and said AGAIN how much he liked it. I am changing my previous negative review after the manager sent me a gift card to give it another try. I came with a party of 10. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had the prime rib dip sandwich with french fries. The sandwich was very good. My friend had the Detroit style square deep dish pizza and enjoyed it very much. This became my spot when it first opened up. The staff was fantastic and friendly and service was fast. Since then, it has been replaced as my spot. First off, under a new manager all but one or two people remain working from the grand opening. Secondly they changed the recipe and ingredients for my favorite pizza. Went to this restaurant for the first time on recommendations from a family member. We were a party of six and to say it was disappointing is an understatement, First off, the waitress was great, she did all she could in a bad situation. The problems started with the delivery of the food; fist they brought the meals separately, not all together. The orders were chicken parmigian (split), a chicken sandwich and a salad, these were first, The salad was ok, the chicken sandwich was so, so, the french fries were not cooked thoroughly. The chicken parm was split but not very hot (we did not send that back). The last two orders were the trouble. One order of chicken tenders was just not coming out, people started eating and no chicken tenders. My order was last, I ordered the complicated entree of rigatoni, when served it was cold, not warm, but cold. That was sent back to get re-done. While I was waiting the chicken tenders were served and they were cold, so they had to go back. Next, the manager brought out my rigatoni, all the typical apologies, and that order was also cold, I told him to keep it. Five minutes later the chicken tenders arrived. This is no way to run a restaurant, Stay away if you have a choice. At the end of the night the manager did not charge us for this horrible experience. A complete waste of time read more

Ordered GF pizza because of their highly touted "we make our own GF dough"... it was ok, not crispy like wood-fired but more bready but had to write a review because I ordered chicken on the pizza and what came out grossed me out I literally had to leave. There was hardly any chicken on the pizza and it looked like someone took their hand and mashed up a chicken drumstick on it. No white meat. There was a just some very dark chicken meat pieces on it from a drumstick/thigh (was not visually appetizing either), and the main reason for the bad review is the cook actually put a huge piece of slimy chicken SKIN on the pizza. I thought it was a joke. After I left my buddy spoke to the head chef who apologized and remove the pizza off the bill... I was excited to try this place and as someone who is GF was happy to try the pizza. one word described my experience= gross. we sat at the bar on a monday night and it got busy after we got there. we had the chopped salad which was tasty and delicious. the shishitto peppers were amazing and the sauce was the star of the plate. we split the black truffle mushroom pizza that was hand stretched which was absolutely mouth watering. took home the butterscotch cake and it was divine. my new favorite spot i'm excited to try the detroit style pizza and french dip next time!!!!! good service as well. great atmosphere. i would highly recommend. good job guys read more

We were super disappointed with the quality of food and the service after our recent visit to Doughbird, which is a bummer because my husband and I had been eager to visit this new establishment. After our 44 minute wait to be seated (which is expected of a fairly new restaurant in midtown), we were seated and waited several minutes before we were greeted by the waitress. The waitress was a bit older and had a very difficult time hearing us so we had to repeat almost everything to her at least once or twice. I'm not sure if she had a difficult time hearing or if the music was just too loud. We ordered the guacamole and pimento starter and the pimento cheese definitely lacked flavor. It was one note and missed the mark. Hillstone's pimento is 100 times better. The chips were cold and even a bit raw in the middle. One of our guest ordered a virgin pina colada and it tasted like straight blended pineapple juice. It seems like perhaps they forgot the crème de coconut all together. Between the four of us we ordered a Margherita pizza, two 1/2 rotisserie entrees and the chicken noodle soup. My son had Mac and cheese as his side which came to us almost ice cold. He was too shy to ask the waitress to warm it back up. My husbands side was mashed potatoes which had a butter film coating the potatoes. He still managed to eat them so they were decent but were not visually appealing. The chicken noodle soup was intensely over salted and I had to send it back. I've never had a bad bowl of chicken noodle soup before so this was surprising. I had everyone at the table taste it and it was definitely abnormally salty. Perhaps the kitchen is lacking some quality assurance. The pizza, although looked beautiful once it arrived to our table (about 7 minutes after the other entrees) did not taste great. Overall it was very bland and had a "sauce" quality to it. You couldn't even taste any garlic or olive oil. After sending my soup back I asked for a Caesar salad instead. When I received the salad it was a very small portion. We later learned, according to the check, it was entered in as a side salad instead of an entree salad which would of been fine if the waitress offered that as a choice. Overall we were pretty disappointed with the food and service. We even had an issue with the bill when it arrived because it had a dessert on it we never ordered so we had to wait several minutes to ask for a correction. We have been to the Doughbird in Phoenix and it was great but unfortunately we do not have plans to return to the Tucson location again. Sadly, I would not recommend this place to my friends or family. I am hopeful management will look into this review and assess the quality of food and service moving forward. read more
