I was in the mood for Ribs so my husband I decided to go to Cheddar's for dinner. We got seated right away and not long of a wait to get our order. Our waitress was very nice. We were seated over in the bar side right away. They have a beautiful large aquarium. Our waiter was friendly and answered our questions. I'm not sure why I couldn't substitute a side salad for the rice that came with many of their entrees, but I paid a few bucks and had one anyway. I ordered the chicken and shrimp, asking for that sauce and pineapple salsa on the side. I'm glad I did that as both were way spicier than I would've liked, plus they were quite sweet. My chicken was tender and flavorful on the inside, but rather dry and overcooked in the outside. The shrimp were small and somewhat overcooked as well. My dining companions all really enjoyed their meals, hence the 4-star rating. I've eaten here before and was satisfied, so maybe it was just the entree I chose this time. read more

I was here with a large group a few Sundays back. I have to say that their reservation/call ahead process is not the best. For (1) I called before coming (on a Sunday around 12:30pm) stating I was doing a call ahead. The girl said OK, took my info, and right before hanging up the phone, added she'll see what seating looks like when we get there. That kind of alarmed me because we are a larger group so I am aware that it could be a longer wait and we didn't want to wait too long if it was going to be a longer while. That's why I called ahead to see what it looked like And if we could get our party of 10 in: So I asked her, what does the wait look like right now for 10 people? And she responded that she didn't know and would have to wait till we got there to see. I let her know we were only 15 minutes away and asked if the restaurant was busy right now, further asking if we were there at this moment, would we be able to sit down? She still seemed to struggle with her answer, which was frustrating. I was thinking that maybe they would not be too busy since they had only been open an hour or so and wanted to follow up on that thought, but she made it hard. Once arriving, she said that she could give us a proper quote once 50% of the party had arrived , which I thought again was frustrating. Just tell us an estimated time that it'll take to sit 10 people!!Anyway, we were all there fairly quickly and at once. She then walked away and said nothing. Watching her I saw that she went and started setting up a table, which was cool but still, I would've appreciated better communication. The meal was okay. The croissants are not what they used to be. And the New Orleans pasta described a super flavorful, was not. It was very one toned and not reminiscent of the vibrant flavors of New Orleans. If you ask me, it was also pretty clear that the sausage in there was actually cut up hotdogs. I have never tasted a sausage that tasted identical to hotdogs. I ordered the red beans and rice to try them out and they two were OK but I would not order them again. Pictured, were other meals at the table. I will say our server was kind and friendly. Though our food did take over 30 minutes (but I don't necessarily think it's crazy for a large party), my gripe is less about the time it took and more about the servers response. When someone at the table inquired on our food, she responded that our food was ready and was just had been sitting in the window already for 10 minutes. I thought this was a strange thing to say and when discussing it with someone else that heard the comment, they said that they heard differently. They heard her say that she just put in the food order 10 minutes ago. I honestly don't know which one is worse. They're both bad responses as we had ordered like I said over 30 minutes prior. Cheddars has got to have the best "Fish & Chips" around! I had that while my Wife had Ribs & Tenders. Both outstanding! I started w/APP Wisconsin chesse curds w/Dipping. Was good, but needed a little bit of better cheese (bland) and cooked a little more. The garden salads were perfect! Even served having a cold fork which it should be. Thanks for that! Cheddar's is always delicious! We typically like the atmosphere in the bar area because of the TV's. In the regular dining area we like the booths and they have tables as well for large parties. This place is great for celebrating special events (birthdays, graduations, etc). The staff is always super friendly and helpful, from the host/hostess, to the wait staff. I usually enjoy getting the bourbon glazed salmon with shrimp and my husband gets the full rack of ribs. The chicken and salad options are really good too. All of these are great portions. The Monte Cristo sandwich with raspberry jam and broccoli cheese casserole arrived with a smile and I was on my way. The Monte Cristo is a battered deep fried ham and turkey sandwich with a raspberry dipping sauce. The broccoli cheese casserole was very cheesy and mixed with rice. It was good but I think in my mind I was expecting just vegetables and cheese. Very good, inexpensive and easy. There are many lunch specials from $10-$15 that I will be trying. We had a dinner meeting for a group of 15 ladies and children. Berlyn was our server. She checked on us so often making sure we had waters, refills and anything else we needed. The food was delicious and surprisingly very affordable. Everyone was happy with what they received. Cheddars doesn't do reservations, but I was advised to join the waitlist when it opened at 11am. When we arrived, I checked in and we were seated within 5 minutes of arriving. Lots of parking because it's in a plaza. We were seated in the rear space they have for larger parties. The rear table only sat 14, so we also had a booth which worked perfect because we made it our kiddie table and I had already hired a babysitter at the kiddie table... it was an excellent experience. Just finished dinner at Cheddar's. I've been to this location a couple of times before but I won't return. The waitress had to repeatedly apologize for keeping us waiting and on how long the food was taking. One member of the group ordered the Cajun Shrimp pasta based on the waitress recommendation. She couldn't eat it because it was too spicy. The waitress offered to replace it but said she would charge us for a replacement meal. The waitress brought us a croissant before the meal but said a couple of times that only the first one was free. Salads with the pasta was extra. The fish & chips I ordered was disappointing. Chain restaurants are good for a decent meal, decent prices, and consistency. I've frequented Cheddars in Tucson a few times and every visit has been good. Service was always pretty decent. The location can be busy and the parking lot packed, but the waitlist usually goes by quickly. The restaurant can get a little loud inside, but that's to be expected for the size. The croissants are yummy, served warm and dripping with a honey butter sauce. You will lick your fingers. For appetizers, I've tried the cheese curds which are crispy, hot, and cheesy. They can occasionally be a little greasy if not drained all the way before plating. My last visit I tried the trio sampler for my meal and was surprised at the size. The spinach dip was massive with a ton of tortilla chips. The chicken tenders as expected and the queso warm with a little kick. I've enjoyed the chicken pot pie for a meal which was creamy, warm and had a great flaky crust. The country fried steak is a decent selection, maybe not quite as good if you grew up in the south, but it's a solid plate. A friend loves their monte cristo and will go to Cheddars just to enjoy that sandwich. I also enjoy the option of getting a vegetable plate. Sometimes I feel picky, don't know what I want, and that typically accompanies an aversion for meat. The veggie plate lets me get a salad or soup, a baked potato, and some side dishes. I'm a fan of the broccoli cheese casserole and baby carrots. It's kind of like a mini-buffet for myself. It's a nicer chain restaurant, good for a quick date or family meal when you don't want to break the bank and want solid food in a nice atmosphere. read more

It's ridiculously dark here. It's so dark I wondered if they were hiding something. No idea why they seated every party adjacent to one another and next to the bar. Our food was kind of cold when we got it, like it sat around waiting on the server. The server was personable and professional. He answered questions and didn't seem to dislike working there. We held up empty glasses for more iced tea when we caught his eye, but the server came over to our table empty handed. Then it took 10 minutes to get a refill while he made complicated alcoholic drinks for other people. The bar was hopping. They definitely needed a separate bartender. The food was OK. I had country fried boneless chicken breast. It had gravy and mashed potatoes. Not a lot of mashed potatoes. Very little gravy anywhere. I mistakenly ordered the double meat portion and could only eat half. Chicken was good. Green beans were good. Coleslaw was good. Later, after we got our check, our server offered us to go drinks. We agreed since beverages had been in short supply. After 10 minutes of him disappearing, we just left. Cheddars is out of our area and it's not as good as other similar restaurants that are closer to us. We probably won't go back. Maybe at another location where they staff appropriately and know how to un-dim the lights. Food was OK. Server started out well. Not recommended but probably decent if you encounter one. read more

Then came dinners. 2 Monte Cristo sandwiches, which had a heavy corn dog like substance covering them and not edible. Every time that I go here, I order the cheese bites (cheese curds). They are crispy with warm cheese in the middle. What's not to love. I've ordered the chicken pot pie 2 times that I've bee. The crust is crispy and buttery. The chicken inside is in large pieces and tender. Overall, one of my favorite dishes. I've also had the ribs. So tender that the meat falls off of the bone. I had never been to a Cheddar's before so I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I was extremely pleased! My husband, baby daughter, and I dined in at about 5 on a Saturday a few weeks before Christmas. The place was packed but we were seated right away and taken care of with a high chair. We really liked the ambiance. Dim and chill with cool architectural features like exposed brick walls and an aquarium. Our waiter was great. Very chill, easygoing. He did a great job taking care of us. The food: the honey butter croissants! This may have been my favorite part of the meal! My daughter and I devoured these. So delicious. I loved that they brought these out to us right away. For dinner I got the 8 oz salmon and it was under $18! It comes on a bed of rice and with two sides. I got broccoli and mashed potatoes. I was a little worried about the low price point but everything was so good! The salmon was perfect. My husband got the monte cristo with fries and fell in love. Said it was one of his favorite meals ever. Overall we had a 5 star experience in all ways until we made a pit stop at the family restroom before heading out. The baby changing table was bolted shut and the bathroom had definitely seen better days and could use a cleaning. Also an employee busted in while we were in there before we locked it so it's clearly not just being used by families. Overall I would definitely return! I haven't been here in ages, so I figured I'd give it a shot. We ordered the queso and chips and the buttered honey croissants for appetizers. Let's just say that these were freaking amazing. I liked the croissant so much that I asked for one to go. My husband and FIL ordered the half steak and half ribs. I ordered a half order of ribs. The ribs were so dry that I couldn't eat any of it. The steaks were supposed to be medium rare but came out medium. Our waiter was attentive and observant. We paid the bill, but he noticed we didn't touch the ribs. He asked what was wrong and we told him how disappointed we were and how dry they were. He said we should have said something, but I didn't want to be that person. He ended up giving us a refund for our ribs, which I didn't think was necessary. Overall, good service and good appetizers but wasn't a fan of the main meals. read more

The building itself is nice, it appears larger on the inside than the outside and I really like the atmosphere.
