I never write reviews even when I'm unhappy I just won't go back to an establishment. How ever I worked through lunch at work and was so hungry. Had a taste for some fried rice decided to stop at the closet place to work. I order the emperor fried rice, the chicken egg flower soup. Got home excited to try it... and when I tell you both dishes where inedible... I liked to eat and am not picky at all. I don't know about the other dishes they serve but they need to go back to the drawing board on these two... and it was overpriced. I spent over $40 just to end up making myself an egg sandwich at home. I ain't saying don't try this place but get your fried rice and chicken egg drop soup elsewhere. Definitely a one time experience. I was super excited to try this place after seeing it on social media. When we first got there we were told 30-40 minute wait and didn't get seated until an hour later. After being there so long I seen about 15 people walk out within 45 minutes of waiting. I felt really bad watching one guy doing absolutely everything for the front of the house. He was constantly flustered because everyone became so impatient with wait time for food, seating etc. One positive is the food, it was really good and very tasty. I recommend getting take out instead it seems they only have very limited seating because half of the resturant seats outside which is too hot for the summer. I suggest management find a better way to support there employees so they don't see so much customers walk out. read more

For the price, the food was not great and I won't ever come back. I ordered a noodle entree and took one bite of out it and told the waiter that we were not going to be able to eat it because of the spice level and the overall taste was gross. They refused to give a refund or even take it off the table. The waiter seems like he wants to debate everything with you and won't stop in till he makes sure you know he's "right". Hands down the best meal I had during my weekend in Tempe. Food had tons of flavor and the service was incredible.

I don't review places very often, simply because I have to feel strongly about something. The food or service or that extra "thing" has to either be so good or so bad to justify my time and emotional investment. In this case Dragon Flame fires on all cylinders. Granted I usually go during off peak hours. So I feel like I tend to have a better time. The first time I went in I was greeted by the incredibly friendly owner. Who is clearly excited about food. Since then every time I go I try a new dish, and everything has been top notch. I scrolled and saw some people complained about dishes lacking descriptors. As someone without allergies or a picky palate that's not an issue for me, and I'm willing to try anything once. In Chicago Chinatown I had raw pigs ears weren't my favorite, but it was an experience. Everything Mao puts out is a win. Yes he may talk about costs of food or how covid hit his business hard. But that's a reality, and it's about being empathetic and supporting people who are trying their best to secure a living. If you're a bit skeptical or have a blander palate, then pretty much any of the chicken stuff is for you: incredibly crunchy and delicious, with enough spice and flavor to wake your tastebuds up. If you're a little more adventurous the lamb dishes are spectacular. And I think Mao is right, that the majority of the stir fry dishes are just the same kind of dishes you can get from a million other Chinese American restaurants. Will they be good? I'm sure. Can you try something else you've maybe never had before? Yes! Luckily with school starting back you he's able to add on some staff, so although you may not be lucky enough to have a long hangout and chat with the owner, the people that complained about lack of service.... actually they can just go somewhere else, and leave a wonderful hole in the wall Chinese place for the rest of us to enjoy. read more

I was only in the area for a night and frankly this was one of the only places offering delivery at that time of night but I am so glad our paths crossed. I got the lamb noodles and they were amazing, covered in spices with plenty of noodles and sauce to cover them in. Whole cumin seeds that bursted with floral spice, tender lamb chunks and a great noodle base to mop it all up. If I'm ever back in the area I would love to try the skewers! read more

The food here is delicious!!!!!! We drove from north Phoenix and will absolutely be coming back. We didn't get any pics of the food because we ate it before I could haha but the pineapple chicken is amazing, the steamed dumplings are flavorful and super soft and last we got the bbq bacon and mushrooms and those were also super delicious! We had the lamb skewers, king fu chicken, emperor fried rice, Chong qi noodles, and soup dumplings! The skewers were the star of the show!
