Have been coming to this place for two years and have slowly seen it decline. Service is still okay, the only reason I would give it a star. While we're dining a roach (about an inch) crawled onto the table, onto a young persons cup. The owner just grabbed the cup and did not say anything else. This person was sitting in the middle of the restaurant. It was disgusting!!! Before this, We ordered 7 rolls and each of them tasted the same. We noticed this last visit as well. This is one of the best sushi places I've ever eaten at. It is a little hole in the wall but the inside transports you to a new world. I feel like I'm actually eating straight out of Asia. I have never had bad service here. Just know that if you order try to make it everything that you want because it don't really come back. I don't mind that at all. I actually prefer it to constantly being serviced. The sushi is some of the best sushi I've ever eaten and the price is unbeatable. The flavor of the sushi is so good and the roles are actually fairly big compared to most places where I feel like I can order two or rolls for myself. Despite having a wide variety of rolls on the menu and choosing a varied selection, it all tasted kind of the same. We tried this place because it had so many great reviews which I am absolutely puzzled by. Those other reviewers must have a kink for being treated with utter contempt. The service was GRUFF. The older couple that work there argued with one another the whole time. It made for a tense dining experience. It was unclear how you were supposed to get a drink. When we tried to order drinks we were just given glares and shrugs. We looked around the restaurant to see what other dinners were doing to get drinks and I guess everyone was fine with water. Personally, I really look forward to having a cold fountain drink with refills at a restaurant so it was disappointing. There was a mini fridge with some cans of soda but it was unclear if you were supposed to help yourself. A simple sign on the menu or table explaining how to get a drink would make a world of difference. There was a spot on the sushi ordering form to order a beer, which might as well not have been included because I finally got my beer like 10 minutes before we got the check. It was slammed onto the table with such disdain. My husband and I could only stare wide-eyed at each other and laugh because it was such a terrible experience. Unfortunately, he wasn't super fluent in English so we had trouble communicating, or getting questions answered about certain items. We were given cups and told that we could grab our own drinks from their soda fountain station. There was a bin full of (CHUNKS of) ice with an ice scoop inside...not super hygienic considering anyone could touch it, not just servers. The bin used to store the ice scoop was dirty, and there was a baby roach crawling on it. At that point, we should have left, but I thought MAYBE, maybe it was a one-off thing. I decided "No" on the water/drinks and just waited on the food. Portions were MASSIVE, like...could not eat a roll in one bite. The food was decent, but the overall experience made it really hard to enjoy anything. On our way out, another baby roach greeted us on our table near our food...never again. The decor is cool. But cleanliness and hygiene are missing from a sushi restaurant? That's just unforgivable, lol. read more

We decided to try this new place after reading positive reviews. I'm questioning their validity at this point. We ordered a California roll topped with salmon, a caterpillar roll, a spider roll, and 3 orders of salmon nigiri. Our usual order anywhere. First, all of the sushi is topped with fruit. Strawberries, oranges, kiwis. None of those were disclosed as far as the menu I read online. It's not traditional to top sushi with fruit as far as I know. You'd think that would be shown on the menu since lots of people have fruit allergies. The rice is dyed on all the rolls and it's pretty unappetizing. The last thing I'm looking for in fresh sushi is food dye. The caterpillar roll was dyed black and I couldn't bring myself to even try it. All of the rolls have a very distinct flavor I can't put my finger on. The salmon on the nigiri has some sort of sauce poured over and the fish is but a sliver atop the rice. I love the very over the top traditional Japanese restaurant decorations are! Even more though, I love the attentiveness of the owners and staff, and the very methodical way of how they clean the tables even. The sushi rolls were different, but delicious. They are also huge, so one roll a person is surprisingly plenty here. My boyfriend and I shared three, and had a few pieces left over to give you perspective and we typically order 4 to share with no left overs. Sadly, this place does not offer the sushi lunch special anymore. It's probably good for me that they don't because I'd be there regularly for lunch. However, I still ordered 2 sushi rolls for lunch. I didn't get anything fancy. I just ordered spicy tuna, a crunch roll, and crab wontons for a later snack. I didn't finish it. The rolls were huge and They were really good. I originally tried calling to place an order, but I couldn't get anyone on the phone so I just went by. The place was empty when I arrived so they must've just opened when I got there. They were all very friendly and my take out order was made quickly. I will definitely be back. Probably even this week. I want to try some of the special sushi rolls they offer and their sashimi. I found this restaurant from some customers promoting it on social media and I'm glad I tried it! We were seated immediately and given a menu with cups of water. To order you place a check mark next to the sushi roll item. One of the sushi rolls wasn't available at the time and the worker didn't speak much English, but they made sure to communicate with us the best they could and even recommended us a similar product, which was delicious.
