We had used DE previously for small things so decided to take my car there first when I was having a creaking in my car after running over a pothole, due to the them being close to our house and prior good experiences. We took it in on a Tuesday and soon after told us it was the right front strut causing the noise and replacing it and possibly the cradle mount would fix the problem, and it would be done within the day (we brought it in at 7am). We call later around 4pm, still not ready. We get a call before they close that the strut part must've been damaged in shipment and they needed something else to fix it, so it would be ready first thing the next morning. Still not ready the next morning or afternoon. My husband gets a call in the late afternoon that it's all fixed and they would be sending a car to pick him up to retrieve the car (he is a police officer and had to call into work that night to be able to get the car since it was held longer that previously promised, twice.) He arrives at DE and is still waiting around for about 30 minutes as my car is still in the garage being looked at. Once he pays and gets the car, he drives it around the building once and the creaking which we brought it in for in the first place has not lessened at all, it sounds exactly the same. He went inside and voiced his concerns and complaints, and all they were able to tell us is that the rocking sound we brought it in for in the first place isn't happening anymore (we did not bringing it in for any rocking sound at all) and that if we are unsatisfied to bring it back in Saturday to see if there is anything else they can do. We have since taken it to another shop who said our car appears mechanically sound, and that the creaking sound is probably be from a body panel. So we paid over $600 to DE for something that may or may not needed to have been fixed, but didn't fix the problem we came in for in the least. BEWARE read more

I called ahead of time and described in detail what was going on with my daughter's AC and asked the cost of running a diagnostic to be sure we know what the problem actually is. After a 30 minute drive in a car that is 95 degrees INSIDE, because it is stuck in heat mode in the middle of August, they proceeded to tell me the diagnostic is almost triple what I was quoted. He said I must have misunderstood the quote because what I need is electrical not mechanical. I didn't misunderstand anything. That's why I called ahead to ask. Very disappointed in this experience. Wow I am surprised with Driver's Edge. I go in one day because I had walked out and thought my car literally looked lower. They take it back, say it's not lower, but both of your ball bearings need to be replaced. I say ok. They replace them I'm on my way, sounds easy as 1.. 2.. 3? Not quite, 2 days late my car develops a horrible grinding sound, so loud it makes me think my car is falling apart. I'm like alright well just hard the car worked on, sound developing 1 + 1 = 2. I take it BACK in they hold my car for 5 hours, claim that 4 technicians look, drive, touch whatever. And they send me on my way telling me its a sound caused by the brakes from the heat. I smiled and left, knowing they were lying because the heat causes a squealing noise between the pad and rotor, which I can look all by myself and see that my rotor is mirrored looking and has squealed to a stop since last year. But this was a grinding noise. So once I get time again, I take it to another shop Service First, a division of Caliber Collision. I tell them that I think my brakes my have something wrong with them, and to look at them. They say all right, 1 technician, in 40 minutes, completely took off all my tires, inspected all the brakes, kindly brought me back to show me the brakes. Then put the tires back on and told me... It was the ball bearing, and showed me how the right front tire literally had a wobble to it. He said over time this could wear down and the tire could sheer off. When I told that to the manager at Driver's Edge he said "WHERE ARE YOU GETTING ALL THIS INFORMATION FROM!", I went and had a second opinion so my car wouldn't have any further damage. And to confirm this, after I got home I called my uncle who has restored 4 Shelby's and he said the mechanic at Service First was right the wheel could have at some point sheered off. To continue, the manager at Driver's Edge tried to say "well you came in because you heard a noise" well if he looked at my receipt (which he took, thankfully I have multiple copies of it) It says, "Check suspension, Customer noticed that vehicle was sitting much lower this morning than normal" so no I indeed did not originally go in for a noise complaint. The only reason I am giving Driver's Edge 2 stars is because Kelly the GM made them fix it, but I would have never gone through all this hassle had they fixed it right the first time. read more

Best experience at a auto repair shop ever! Took my 10 year old car to the Toyota dealership for a recall repair.They took it upon themselves to check out under the hood and told me there were several leaks and I needed a new water pump at a cost of $1500. Took it over to Drivers Edge who told me they could do the repairs for much less but needed to check for the leaks first. Turns out there was one leak, the water pump was fine, and I needed new brakes (not a surprise). The completed the repairs in much less time than quoted at a far lower price than the dealership. This place has me upset with myself for sticking with the dealership for this long. My dealership raised their prices plus I did not get along with the maintenance rep anymore getting in multiple arguments so I went looking for a new place. I kept getting direct mail from DE and the fliers seem to have good prices and they offered a full range of services. That is a good thing because I had a vehicle I needed to get major work done on and there was no way I was taking it to the f'ing dealership. I set an appointment with these guys and showed up on time. They all listened and took notes on the work I needed done and the important part of the diagnostics. They told me give them 2 hours to look at everything and they would call me with a report. They offered me a shuttle service but I already had a ride. They called later with a report on everything I had asked them about and made a few other suggestions. The pricing for each sounded about right and was not inflated. Later, when I got home I checked on their quotes and they were within a good range for the services they did. They went through the services with me in order of most important and critical to the car. They also itemized the pricing out for me so I could decide to give them green light on some services but decline others. The Charger was in bad shape when I brought it in and to be honest now it runs smooth as hell. I got new brakes, new rotors, new tie rods, new rear shocks, front & rear alignment, new air filter and oil change and got out of there for a very decent price based on the services provided and customer service. They called when they said and I also called with questions at one point and they answered those. I asked them to do a brake test drive after they were done which they did. I got full paperwork on everything they did with diagrams of the vehicle and itemized costs. I talked to my gearhead buddies and told them what I got for the price and they told me it was a good deal and that the shop is legit. I will be coming here from now on for my ride and my fiances too. Dodge dealership can kiss my ass from now on I found these guys are waaaay better. I made an appointment the day before. I dropped off my car 15 minutes earlier than the appointment. I asked how long it would be to get my car in and was told it would be an hour and they would give me a call about the repairs that would be needed. I arranged for a ride back to my office. 2 hours later, I had not heard from anyone. So I called them. Albert had the sheet in front of him but had to call for a price on the part and would call me back. 30 mins later, I got the call back and was given my options. The pick up time for my car was between 5-6 pm at that time. I called at 4:30 pm to see if it was going to be ready because I had to get a ride to pick up my car. I was told it was going to 5:30 pm now! At 4:50 pm I received a call from the mechanic saying a part broke in the process of fixing/repairing my car and they had to go to a dealership for the part. I had no ride home, my car had been with them for 6 hours and I had to pay $25 for and Uber to get home in time to relieve my nanny and spend an hour with my son. I also had to spend $29 the next morning to Uber back down to Drivers Edge to pick up my car the next morning. I understand that things happen, but I made an appointment and my car was not looked at in the timeframe I was promised. If it had been, I would have been able to get my car the same day and wouldn't of had the extra cost of my nanny staying late or having to Uber home and then Uber back the next morning. read more

A 30 minute repair has taken all day. I brought the car in at 9:00 am with it being promised to be repaired by no later than 4:00 pm. It is 5:45 and It is still not fixed. I understand that issues arise but how these issues are communicated and resolved are what separates a mediocre company from a great company. This is a mediocre company at best. I have taken my SUV to this location for several things on many occasions. Every single time the service I get is outstanding. Things are fixed correctly, in a timely manner. I am never overcharged and I have never had them try to persuade me to make other fixes. They HAVE given me suggestions on things that may need repair in the future and they always SHOW me what they are talking about. I love going to Driver's Edge on Park. They have always been able to find out the problems quickly and efficiently with all my vehicles. This last visit I took my wife's car in because it was shuddering and having major performance issues. After doing a full diagnosis on it, they determined it was the #3 coil. This was not the first time I have had this problem in this car, but it was the first time I decided to let DE look at it and see if they could fix it since 2 other repair places said they fixed it and within 6 months everything came back worse than ever. The price was very reasonable and they fixed the issue very quickly even though I had asked them to get it done in a less reasonable time overall since the wife really needed her car back asap. You know, I had hopes that this place was different. My wife had stopped there a couple of times for an oil change. She was in and out, not a lot of upselling, etc. So I stopped in today for a quick oil change with a lot of other things to do today. So after about 15 minutes, when I thought the job might be done....no, I was presented with a list of "maintenance items" that probably needed to be done. Now I am no genius mechanic, but I am not an idiot either. I am very diligent about getting the oil changed regularly and I have a son in law who is very knowledgeable about cars that I consult with on any potential major issue. There were things listed on the maintenance list that not only did not need to be done any time soon but were extremely overpriced if you did have them done. So i said to go ahead and do the oil change along with changing the air and cabin filters (which were also very overpriced but told them to do it for convenience sake). So about an hour and a half later, I am still waiting for the truck to be done. when I ask about it, I was told they were waiting on the part for the engine filter. You know what, if you didn't have the part, you shouldn't have tried to sell me the service. I am totally disgusted with this place. Certainly will never be back. Why is it so hard to find an honest mechanic that can be trusted? read more

My car died on me twice in the Trader Joe's parking lot up the street from this Drivers Edge. I ended up having to coast it into a parking space and get a jump from my boyfriend. I was frustrated by my car acting up and immediately drove it to Drivers Edge like last time I had issues. I was convinced my car had sputtered its last sputter. I was calmed and reassured by Drivers Edge associates. I left my car overnight because my issue happened about 45 minutes before close, they were not annoyed to accept my car into the system! They called me promptly in the am and told me that it had fired up and ran perfectly for them, but said that they wanted to hold onto it and see what they can find. The tech seemed concerned and reassured me that he would figure it out. In the meantime, I had them change my oil because I was due. An hour later they called and told me that the oil change went well, but they found a problem in my engine. One of my oil caps busted had been leaking profusely and had mucked up my timing belt possibly. Keep in mind, I had replaced my timing belt, water pump, and cap seals a year and a half ago in CA. He told me that I could ride it out longer but it would be bad for my engine and safety. He told me he would want to investigate it further to see the damage and then decide if we should replace the timing belt kit etc. It was bad and he honestly told me that buying the kit would be helpful since the oil leaking had damaged and worn down my parts-making it seem like they had never been replaced. They told me that it looked like when it was replaced in CA they did not correctly seal a couple things within the caps/belts and that they weren't sure what had been done. They quoted me a price lower then what I paid in CA and informed me that they could apply a coupon that they had on their website to save me money. They ended up letting me use both a coupon for my oil change and the coupon for the timing belt kit/cap seals/water pump replacement. I had my car back in two days and was very satisfied! My car runs smooth, though it is 14 years old, and I feel I can get another year or two out of it with upkeep. I was impressed by the mechanics/technicians ability to communicate with me the problems over the phone and honestly tell me the best way to fix my engine. Had they not caught the oil leak, my car would probably be toast once it started leaking out of the engine crevices. 12/2: Another wonderful experience at Drivers Edge. After a rainy Thanksgiving weekend, my car decided to leak through its weatherstripping seal. UH OH! No worries, I take it in for a oil change and a new weatherstrip. Well, turns out the weatherstrip is a very hard part to find but they can have it shipped in in a couple days (first time they havent been able to ship a part in same day) so I said I would take it back in when the part came and lets just do the oil change. They call me back to let me know my power steering fluid was looking dirty and would need replacing in the next month. I asked if that could be done today too and they said yes. They also added that after some more looking they were able to get the part shipped to the store the next morning. I let them keep the car overnight and it was done by 10AM the next day, and I got to use the service coupons. They are always so nice to me even though I always bring my sad, sad car to them and ask for help. read more

I pulled in to Driver's Edge for a State Inspection just because they were close to other errands I was running. I got a bad vibe when I walked in, but I stayed simply because my car is just 3 years old and I knew there were no problems with it. While I was waiting, they finished the Inspection for the guy who was there before me. They came in and told him he failed the Inspection because he had bad wiper blades and something else that I forgot. Whatever it was, I remember thinking it was very convenient that he "failed" on two simple things that Driver's Edge just happened to have the replacements for. He paid what they asked and left. When they finished with my car, they came in and told me that my car passed except for the gas cap. They said it didn't seal. But they had one they could sell me so I could pass Inspection. They even had the gas cap in a box sitting next to the register, ready to ring up. I said I'd just take my keys and leave. They said they wouldn't let me go unless I paid for the Inspection and they wouldn't give me the sticker unless I paid for the gas cap. I told them I didn't believe them because the car was only 3 years old. I've owned individual cars for 15 years or more and never had the gas cap fail an Inspection. I finally told them flat out that I thought they were trying to scam me. First they acted like I'd hurt their feelings. When I continued to press the matter, they suddenly got mad, started yelling, and told me to get out of their shop. I said I wouldn't leave without my car. They again yelled for me to get out and not come back. I said I had no plans to come back but I wouldn't leave without my car. The guy reached for the phone and said he would call 911 if I didn't get off their property. I pulled out my cell phone and said I would call for them because they were holding my car hostage. The guy yelled that he would bring my car around. He did. I left. I drove down the street to a different car shop. Guess what? I passed Inspection. I specifically checked the gas cap rating and it showed PASS. NOTE: I originally wrote this review (on another site) in September of 2009. My family and I have been going to Drivers Edge for years now and we are always satisfied with the job. Just recently I took my car in because something was draining the battery. They kept working on it while other dealerships refused to take a look at it. These guys went above and beyond the call of duty to figure out the problem and solve it. Incompetence doesn't begin to explain it. These guys couldn't even manage to put my inspection sticker on my windshield straight. Firthermore They left all of the old sticker shavings from the windshield on the dash and their fingerprints on the headliner. They're great at faking professionalism and very poor at following through on returning telephone calls which a professional service would do when someone calls and complains. I brought my car in because it was running funny, after their review they came up with over $1000 of repairs to fix the immediate problem and other items they recommended - I OKed it all. The day I picked the car up, the plastic under-cariage partially dropped off and was dragging on the road -- I took my car back to the store and told them they should replace it free of charge. They said it was not their fault and that the manager, who had to make the decision was out. It took 4 day of me calling for them to finally repair it for free and they let me know that they were doing me a big favor. This is after using them for over 5 years. There has been a few other time that I had to take my car back in after they repaired it. I am just not sure that I can rely on them. The car shop, I used before was Addison Automotive and I loved that place, unfortunately my situation changed and it is much more convenient to use Dirver's Edge. I believe this shop to be very dishonest and warn others to beware of their practices. My son took his vehicle here because his check engine light was on and inquired about a diagnostic with possible repair along with an oil change. These people took advantage of the fact they were dealing with a teenager and kept my son's car over night and the next day kept giving him the run around as far as what needed to be done and how long it was going to take. 24hrs after leaving his car, they tell him that he had an electrical problem which caused the light to come on and supposedly repaired the issue. When my son picked his car up, he was charged over $425! For an oil change (23.00), wire repair kit (35.00) air filter (25.00). They claimed to have done "speed sensor work" which we NEVER had an issue with nor stated that we did and the same with "adjusting a drive belt"....The bulk of the $424+ was all for labor for all of these minor repairs. To make matters worse, THREE HOURS after leaving the shop, the check engine light came back on! My son called the shop and once again, got the run around. He was told to call back the next day which he did. When my son finally spoke to the R. Perez that did the so called repairs, he was told he "may get charged again if they find additional problems as to why the light came on again!" I mean really? That was the whole purpose of the car being there in the first place. Well we knew that they would "find additional problems" so we've decided to seek legal assistance in getting proper funds returned. The bottom line is I would not trust this shop to be honest or competent with any other vehicle I own and caution anyone else who does. read more
