Throughout the process, they were polite, communicative, and incredibly respectful of both our home and our schedules--leaving the work areas spotless after each visit. Demetrius, in particular, was fantastic. From day one, he inspired total confidence with his expertise and was always willing to get on the phone to explain what was happening and why. On the scheduling side, Destiny in their office was also wonderful--super friendly and accommodating. Dry Out Medics advertises itself as a 5-star Yelp business, but my experience fell well short of that. I didn't choose them directly--they were subcontracted by my plumbing company after my water heater leak. My so-called "project manager," Abdul, did not provide the level of coordination I expected. For example, the remediation crew arrived to begin work before the plumbing company had even removed the leaking water heater, causing a full day delay in the project. On the positive side, the technicians themselves were courteous and trustworthy, and the company had the professional equipment needed to dry out the water damage efficiently. I had a leak in the ceiling of my condo, and the plumber said there was some water damage. "I know a guy," he says. Of course he does. So, okay. Guy shows up. Super friendly. But every time I ask what anything might cost, he says he has to "run the numbers." Run the numbers. Dude. You know the numbers. You do this for a living. Say the numbers! Instead, he whips out his little electromagnetic moisture meter and starts running randomly around the hall where it conveniently reports 100% saturation every single time. Hmmmm.Whole thing took maybe 15 minutes. Then, before leaving, he stations a big-ass dehumidifier in my hallway to "begin drying things out." First of all: if the solution is "leave a big-ass fan machine in the hall," what exactly do I need help with? Second: without a contained environment, that thing isn't drying the wall. It's just aggressively dehumidifying my entire apartment complex. But whatever, that was good for my skin anyway. Felt like a nice gesture. At this point you're probably thinking, "this homeowner is a sucker." Yeah. I kinda am. I generally want to trust people. And honestly, I don't even think homeboy was a bad guy. Just that he participating in a hustle that maybe he hadn't been fully trained on. Important detail here: at NO POINT had anyone communicated any fees. None for the 15-minute "assessment." None for the industrial hallway humidifier. Nothing. Then, as he's leaving -- still without mentioning any pricing whatsoever -- I finally get the genius idea to ask what this might all cost. Now look, I understand that until walls get opened up, you can't know the true cost. But most contractors at least offer a rough estimate instead of acting like they're pricing uranium futures. He says maybe $10k-15k. Tried to keep a poker face on that one, but I literally almost left my body. But THEN he reassures me: "Don't worry. Insurance will cover it." Oh, and ALSO, he'll personally be my project manager. And if I just hand over my insurance info, he will handle everything "without me lifting a finger." Wow! Amazing! A stranger I met 20 minutes ago wants to manage a five-figure insurance claim on my behalf. Like I said, I'm a sucker. I was honestly considering it, just because this shit is stressful and managing home repairs sucks. Happily, my wife is the adult in the family and handles our insurance. When I called to ask for the insurance info, she was immediately like, "Absolutely not." And the more I thought about it, the more the whole thing started smelling weird. Then -- and this is what finally got me clear on the scam -- I get an unsolicited call from an asbestos abatement company that Dry-Out Medics had apparently dispatched into my life without my knowledge. Within second, homeboy calls me back desperately backpedaling. "Let me run the numbers again.""I can talk to my boss.""See what we can do." Yeah. That's a hard nope. Still, they didn't come pick up the dehumidifier for four days. I thought the whole thing was over until I received an invoice for "work completed." Wait, what work? They did absolutely zero work. None. But here's the truly beautiful part: while Dry-Out Medics feels like a scam, they are shockingly bad at the actual scam portion of the operation. Maybe that's a positive thing? The first line item on the invoice was -- and I quote -- "Showing up to assess water damage..." Which is incredible because right there on their website it says their ONE HOUR ASSESSMENT IS FREE. Dude was in my unit for like 30 minutes. At this point I remembered signing some "work authorization" on his tablet while he rapidly scrolled past pages saying things like:"Yeah, standard contract.""Nothing unusual.""Just boilerplate." That kinda started me panicking, since nobody reads contracts they sign. Right? Oh, just me? Riiiiight But when I went to read the contract, it ruled. Not only did the contract NOT mention any of the mystery charges on the invoice... the line where a normal company would put an estimate literally said: "NOT APPLICABLE." Best contract I've ever signed in my life. So look: maybe Dry-Out Medics is actually good at water mitigation. I couldn't say. But there are tons of companies out there that will dry your walls without trying to separate you from your insurance deductible. You should call them instead. read more

If less than 1 star was an option, that is what I would give them. Do not rely on them for anything other than lying. They open a claim on your behalf with your insurance company. Then they discourage you from allowing your insurance company adjuster to come onsite until they demo the area. They install equipment that doesn't work, refuse to tell you the cost of the service, refuse to pick up the equipment when requested, send technicians out every other day, refuse to communicate and give you a huge bill only after the insurance company denies the claim. read more

Dry out medics was sent my property as a referral from a plumber who came. They tried to convince us to submit an insurance claim for some work they said we needed, but wanted us to commit insurance fraud so the insurance would cover their services. Not being willing to commit fraud, I got another opinion. The other licensed contractor said I needed a mop, a fan and a gallon of bleach. He provided examples of why and how the other claims were wrong. The second opinion saved me spending thousands of dollars on something that I was able to take care of in 2 hours and $15. I dodged a bullet and hope you will too. Don't let them convince you to submit a claim that will make your insurance go up or get cancelled unless you get another opinion and fully understand your options and what is needed. For example, the man with the moisture meter said I had to replace my tile floor to avoid dry rot but the house is on a slab. He said the drywall was saturated, but the walls are plaster and the mdf baseboards were not swollen or discolored. Do not trust him or his meter. read more

Be careful choosing this restoration company. I got quoted for $3700 to begin with to restore my water tank heater closet and another closet close by. Then they will pressure you by lowering the quote. So we agreed from $3700 down to $2500. Don't fall into this. Ask who's going to repair if they start tearing down anything cause some from their third party will come and make another quote. Ask about the humidifier they will bring over for weeks this will cost you $150 bucks a day. From two closet they supposed to restores, I decided for them to restore one closet. Week after, text them to wrapped up the job and send me the invoice and the joker wants the whole $2500 payment. I said no, upon negotiation and I ask the managers name Amin, the price came down to $1755 with complete breakdown which is kinda funny. Even the mast, small trash bag, taking down your door etc are charged in the invoice. This people who promised who will help out don't believe them. Last thing, I will vouch the other costumer who wrote a year ago regarding scamming house insurance. Dont fall into that either, I been told don't worry we will help you out to get your insurance and we can make the adjustment and change the quote. If I didn't stop them and let them continue to work I would have paying more than $10k for this people using my insurance. I don't recommend this place. Nathan and team were so easy to deal with. They came out to handle a leak in the upstairs bathroom. But thanks to being vigilant, Nathan quickly discovered a second leak around the base of the toilet. Both leaks required the removal of drywall and parts of the ceiling in the downstairs kitchen. Calvin and Jeremy were the most helpful while help drying out my garage from a water heater leak. I accidentally forgot to clean out the surrounding area of the water heater, but they came in and moved all my gym equipment and various garage junk out of the way so they could get to work.
