Worst dealership experience. After the test drive, the salesperson, without even talk about the price, go directly to a 60-month loan option. When asking about the best price, he gives us a sheet with MSRP + 5000$ plus extended warranty and service package. Then, he tries to push us for a buy today with a 500$ discount from MSRP. He even says "I've shown you guys the cars and give you a test drive, I should be compensated for my time". Left right after that. Then the manager dares to leave me a voice message saying that I hear you guys are close to making a deal and ask me to go back to finish the negotiation. What a joke. read more

After months deliberating, weeks of shopping, and hours spent haggling with other dealerships and dealers, I made the drive from Sacramento to Dublin Mazda. I knew I wanted a Mazda. I also knew I didn't want to "haggle" anymore... I was getting rigor mortis of the brain and my patience was running on fumes. Already pretty confident in what I was looking for and the anticipated price tag associated with it, I met Richard. Rather, he came out o greet me while I was perusing the lot. I got what I wanted - Richard is the perfect no-haggling, no-pressure sales person. I had fun driving and we had good conversation in between the Q&A of the vehicle. After about an hour driving a few different models, I went home to talk with my brother about it in more detail. We came to a decision and contacted the Sales Manager, Tak, and my sales rep, Richard. They accepted my offer and despite it being closing time (8 pm), they waited for me to come down and fill out the necessary paperwork. The experience of buying a car can be stressful. The staff at Dublin Mazda did what they could to make it a comfortable, fast, and stress free experience. My husband and I just purchased our first Mazda and the staff were very knowledgeable and never pushy. Troy was very customer focused and remained extremely patient throughout the process. Service - When I told the service department my CX-5 was completley broken down, they jumped into action! Since I live in Santa Cruz, they actually recommended a closer dealer to service my car. I have a 125,000 7year extended warranty (score!), and Mazda Roadside service is towing my car (free of charge) to Capital Mazda. When I found out evry dealer has there own extended warranty I called Dublin Mazda and John in finance was great! This review is for Sales person Roger Thurman. I made an appointment with Roger to test drive a used Mazda car. On the day of the test drive, I called Roger an hour before the appointment to confirm that the car is still available and he confirmed that the car is there and I can come for test drive. I drove all the way from south San Jose to Dublin and after reaching the showroom, he took me to his office, look at this computer for few seconds and tells me that the car was already sold and delivered yesterday. From his expression, it looked like he was not at surprised that the car was sold. It felt like he intentionally lied to me to make come to the dealership and try to sell some other car. He then started offering other car that were available, but I refused and left. It was a really really bad experience. read more

I had been quite satisfied with my service experiences at Dublin Mazda in the past until my last service this past January. The advisor recommended doing the 30,000 mile service since my car was at 26,000 but had been driven a lot of short distances. This made sense to me. I was a bit shocked by the $809.37 service quote since I've never paid that much for any service in my lifetime, but this is my first Mazda, so I agreed, assuming it was the recommended 30,000 manufacturer service. I did not receive any details about what the service would include even though the service sheet says "perform the preferred 30,000 mile interval maintenance service as per attached worksheet." Service was friendly enough and took a little longer than expected but within reason. The rest of the day, however, I couldn't stop thinking about how expensive it had been. I decided to call other Mazda dealers to ask about their 30,000 service fees and received a quote of $456.49 from Mazda in Concord for their Long Life premium service, and $195 from Mazda in San Francisco (not sure of the details included there). Upon further inspection, the service I was given included many extras such as battery terminal cleaning, lubricating locks and hinges, etc. beyond the manufacturer service schedule for 30,000, add-ons that were not mentioned to me before the service. When I called to discuss my disappointment with the lack of clarity around the service to be performed, one of the managers, Mark, promised to call me back on the following Monday, but failed to do so. I did eventually get a follow up call from another manager, Dave, over a week later, who acknowledged that the service could have been better explained but did not otherwise inspire confidence in the value and necessity of the expensive service, other than the fuel injection cleaner being worthwhile given the quality of our California gas. I will definitely be taking my business to a trusted local mechanic where I will get quality, specific, well explained recommendations at a more reasonable price. read more

I've been to many different dealerships with my parents but this was the first time I was going in to purchase my own car. I was skeptical to even go to a dealership because the sales people are always like vultures and very pushy. Robert greeted my parents and I and helped us find the car we were looking for. At no point did I feel pressured to make a purchase and Robert made sure to answer all of our questions and even get second opinions to make sure we got exactly what we came for. After a few months of research I decided that I needed a fuel efficient car that would get me to point A to B. Taking the GT500 or the Panigale (has track tires on) for regular commute would be a bad idea (even more so then the old Nissan getting 12 mpg) . I didn't care about performance, but I wanted comfort, space, and fuel efficiency that was up there to at least be considered respectable. Heck..I know cars. I work on them all the time, but I definitely have the know how on how to buy and sell cars (past life I must of been a car salesman). That is why I don't haggle. I just call or ask for a best price and go that way if I am going to make a purchase. Sure I scour the TrueCar site and I have several contacts down south that tell me what people are paying for cars, but more likely if you are up front and seem to be a fair salesman you are going to get my business (and probably future business as I buy a lot of cars/trucks). So anyways props go to Nick Verhilyev and Dublin Mazda. That was an easy sale. Contact was mostly through email (convenient for me as half the time I am in meetings). I told him what I was looking for, we quickly agreed on a price, and BAM..end of sale and done deal. No thank you...work on my cars/trucks are done by me. My family and I have purchased 2 Mazdas in the past year, and decided to get another one for Mother's Day. I called ahead to get the car prepared for a test drive. Test drive came and went. Then, we talked numbers and was in queue for finance. (Why is one finance guy working alone on mother's day?) Waited around an hour just to try to be sold insurance and maintenance packages and talk down on their quality of the car. Told the guy (Nick?) we didn't want the insurance packages, to which I was told "my input doesn't matter because I'm not signing the finance documents". He essentially snapped at me. My parents looked at me in disbelief by how rude the comment was. Then we added GAAP but wasn't told how much, until i asked him a few times. $895 is steep, and I bought a Mazda a month ago and it only costed $400, but "they don't make the prices". I mentioned that we could add it via our car insurance and it would be cheaper, and Nick insisted we do it through them because "car insurers are technically not allowed to sell it due to a conflict of interest". At this point, this guy is trying to scare my parents with "how many moving parts are in the car" and how "anything can break at anytime" so extended warranty would be worth it. Total opposite of what I experienced buying our other two cars. This guy is just being snarky and quite unprofessional, wants his commission. If you need service, look elsewhere! I drop off several cars there a week and it's disappointing to be treated like I'm below you. The service writer was so disrespectful that I had to leave before I acknowledged his attitude. He was with a customer which I have no problem waiting but instead of saying "I'll be right with you " he continued his conversation about his kids laundry issues. When he finally stopped talking he was extremely rude, took the customers keys which I bought in and threw them on the desk. How you treat the different companies that bring you vehicles shows me that my money can be spent at a dealer who treats the workers with respect especially a potential buyer of that product. read more

Funny how one's flexible changes with time. We decided to look around for a vehicle that would be comfortable, safe, reliable and fit my husband and his kayak. Specifically my husband's interest was in looking for a CPO (certified pervious owned) Mazda CX-5. We had look around a bit and decided to walk around the lot at Dublin Mazda. Product Specialist, Robert Michael, came out to the lot, greeted us in a non aggressive manner and started a conversation with us about our search. This was a good thing because Robert was professional, knew the inventory, understood our humor, tolerant of our indecisiveness and was outstanding with sharing his vehicle knowledge. Never was there any pressure applied to our "browsing" or test driving. Since Robert knew his Mazda CX-5 inventory, we found a car that my husband truly got excited about. We were both truly amazed with Robert's patience and teaching skills. Robert made the car buying experience enjoyable and we never felt pressured. We originally walked in to check out a used car that we saw online but Chuck found us a new Mazda 3 with the features and a price we wanted. Our family has been customers here for over 4 years. We've purchased 3 cars from them over the years. Let's just say the service staff here is first class! My service technician Damon was very helpful and courteous. Took my daughters car in for its scheduled maintenance which is covered by a full warranty. He checked me in efficiently and walked me through the process. Aside from having the regular service done, (e.g. oil, tire rotation, fluid topping and inspection) I also needed the motor for the driver seat looked at as it was making a weird noise. After checking it out, he said the motor needed to be replaced. The part was in stock and the job could be done but will take the afternoon to complete. Not a problem! He offered free Lyft service to take me home and get me picked up when the car was ready. How cool was that?! When the car was ready, he informed me a Lyft was coming to get me to bring me back to the dealership. When I arrived the car was waiting for me in the service garage, freshly washed and detailed. (and believe me the car needed it) Although I'm writing this review on behalf of Damon and the service team I can speak for everyone there. As requested, he gave us the precise price breakdown and price matched a nearby dealership. In person, we experienced no run-around. Let me first say their service department is great 5 stars for them! I have always taken my car there for service and it's always been great. This review is for the sales department. I've been looking to trade in my current Mazda and upgrade to a higher trim model and wanted to give them my business since I take my car there for servicing. I went in the other night for a test drive to check out the new CX-5. The trim model I test drove was out of my price range which I had told them, but they of course said, " let's run some numbers" which then made me curious what they had to offer. They came back AFTER gathering my credit information with "what do you think your credit is" and I replied with what I thought it was (mind you I have good credit, not excellent , but good) and they just pointed to the number on the paper and said " we thought you would have excellent credit, but this is your credit" it was so shaming and embarrassing after I've been working years to rebuild my credit and mind you my current credit is classified as good credit, but to be spoken to like that with other customers around is embarrassing and unprofessional. After that I said well clearly these numbers won't work and I know this trim is out of my price range, but thank you for your time, please call me when you have the s premium trim in. Then of course what I'm assuming the manager came out and decided to belittle my intelligence by explaining to me, " you bought your current model at this price and now your trying to get a vehicle that is x amount more for this amount more a month with this little down and this credit you have" (sparing you with some verbal details) . I was immediately welcomed by the nice staff when I walked in and met with Roger Thurman who took care of me for the rest of the afternoon. After a quick test drive, we sat down with the finance guy, John, to sign docs and make payment. Overall we were out the door in about an 1 hour and 15 minutes. Short version of the context is: - Went to Dublin Mazda - Car we wanted was still enroute - They asked us to put $500 down to hold it - Wrote them a check Car took two days to arrive which was fine, but within those two days 2 separate dealership offered us the same car for $500 less. So I went back to Dublin because we always try to bring business back to our town; I even told them they didn't have to match it exactly but just come close. Besides we really liked our sales person, Michael Barrilleaux, he was just the nicest guy. They wouldn't budge, which was also fine, it's just business. No hard feelings. I'll just take my check and be on my way. Simple right? No. First of all they had a hard time locating my check. I was standing in the corner waiting and this guy told Michael, "He is not a priority right now, he didn't buy a car from you." 10 more minutes pass. The same guy who made that comment to Michael comes up to me rudely, "Mr. Lui...so looks like you paid the $500 with a Visa, so we'll have to verify that and just mail you a check. OK?" I told him no it wasn't a Visa and showed him a carbon copy of the check. He said, "Doesn't matter, even if that was true, I still have to research it and then we'll call you. I don't have time to do that right now." I said, "Because I'm not a priority right?" He said, "Right because we have other things to do." I insisted he go and find the check and he said he didn't have time. He then turned his back and walked away. Turns out this guy is the General Manager, Dave Brown. We had it out and he promised he would have a check for me or find my check by the end of the day. After I left, Michael helped tracked down my check within 10 minutes. If Mr. Brown came up to me in a friendly and genuine manner I would have been fine. However, he was rude, unprofessional, and arrogant. It was obvious he was being a prick because I did not purchase a car from them. I was shocked that he was the General Manager. He isn't qualify to fill the tires with air. It is not unreasonable for a customer to want their check back prior to leaving the dealership if a deal cannot be made. Mr. Brown made me glad that I did not purchase a car from Dublin Mazda. Because of Mr. Brown I'll be sure to drive 15 miles out of my way to another dealership to get my car serviced. Because of Mr. Brown I'll be sure not a single family member, friend, or associate of mine will ever set foot in Dublin Mazda. 2 days later we went down to Oak Tree Mazda and had a fantastic experience and left with a brand new car within 2.5 hours. Sadly even though it appears that most of the people at Dublin Mazda represented your brand well, when you have a General Manager that carries himself in this despicable manner, it voids all their good work. My trusty 2008 Nissan Rogue was totaled on Cinco de Mayo by a drunk driver. I came out okay with a few bumps and bruises but my car is gone. I have not shopped for a car in 10 years and the thought of going through the car buying process gave me chills. Now those that know me know that I will research online, as well as, ask friends and relatives for their input. My 3-year old grandson suggested that I get a blue car so I decided on the blue reflex mica CX-5. I looked around and saw that Dublin Mazda had a new 2016 model available. I figured since it was Memorial Day weekend, I probably would get a great deal. Yesterday, I talked myself into going to Dublin Mazda. As soon as I walked in I noticed how neat and nice the place was. I was warmly greeted at the front desk and I was assigned to a very lovely, young lady named Vinay. She was very personable, honest and transparent. She told me she had only been working there for a month. She did not have to tell me that but she did. She was knowledgeable and when she did not know the answer to my question, she would find the answer for me. She definitely is not your stereotypical car salesman and I truly appreciate that. After test driving the CX-5 I researched, we did our back and forth and before you know it I was in John's office signing a gazillion forms. Went here with my friend Andrew H (who just submitted a review). He's the one who was there to buy a car, I came along because I drove him there. We first met with Bruce who gave us an overview of the car and then we took the car for a test drive. My friend liked the car so we then went to Bruce's desk and proceeded to talk about the price and whatnot. My friend asked for a small discount as he's been shopping around and had received some discounted quotes from other dealers. He was simply asking and it was not a massive discount or low ball offer. Bruce made it clear that they will not sell the car "even one dollar" below the asking price as they were apparently already not making any money on it. He offered to ask the Sales Manager but said he highly doubts he will agree to any discount. My friend asked him to go ahead and ask the Sales Manager. (what's the worst that can happen, right?) The Sales Manager, Reyes, immediately came out with Bruce and told us that he will not be able to give us any sort of discount and that he appreciates our visit. My other friend who was also there, mentioned that other dealers gave similar discounts to what Andrew was asking for. At some point Reyes interrupted him and said "no buts, the only but here is your butts out the door". We all went silent and were a little shocked by his rude response, I then said "that is not a nice thing to say", Reyes then looked at me and said "I'm just keeping it real, you like to keep it real don't you?" (I'm african). We told him that his hostility is uncalled for and that we did nothing to provoke his disrespectful response. We told him that we simply asked for a discount and that this is something a lot of his customers probably do. He told us that the store closes in 2 minutes (it was almost 8 PM at the time) and that we should leave if we are not buying the car. We started walking away and as we did, he tried to stop us and get my friend to buy the car. Andrew told him that he likes the car and would've considered it even at the asking price, but that there is no way he would buy the car from him. We continued walking to our car, Reyes followed us and kept saying "drive safe" in a sarcastic and annoying tone. We bought a used vehicle and the listed price was ok until you are ready to talk about financing and sealing the deal. The salesman Troy then said that there is a LoJack that comes with the vehicle mandatory or they would not sell the vehicle. An additional of almost $1000. Come to find out it is an option. And the actual LoJack was not installed yet. Troy and finance and service then all came together to install the device behind our back. Saying that it had a problem with activation so service needed the vehicle for about an hour or so. But when service was done they gave me the paperwork of what the work was done on the vehicle and it was an installation of LoJack. This dealership is deceitful and cunning. Be careful, they don't care about you or the costumers. They just want their commissions. John at finance is very cunning watch out for this guy. We bought an extended warranty because he tricked us on the monthly payment telling us that it was going to be lower than the extended warranty not included. But in reality he extended the months to pay so the payment would be lower. And he gave us an estimate that which is higher at the beginning so when he included the warranty the monthly payment will be lower. This guys is cunning and deceptive. When we tried to cancel the extended warranty John the finance guy hang up on me 3 times, have given me a false email to send a cancellation request. He makes us out to be stupid and dumb. He even told us that we were not smart of thinking of canceling the extended warranty. All the while he would lose his commissions. This guy lives on this principle tricking people and giving them hard times. So be careful there are other dealerships that does not come with LoJack and finance people trying to get their commissions off you. Avoid this dealership because they try to make you want the car and at the end make you purchase a LoJack which is the-same as an apple AirTag. GPS device which you will never need. It's just for them to get extra commissions on poor hard working people like us. read more

Recently my wife and I had been considering trading in our Saturn Vue for a more fuel efficient SUV. After exhaustively reading dozens of reviews, we decided that our first test drive would be a 2013 Mazda CX-5. Upon arriving at the dealership, we were greeted by one of the salesmen, Gregory. He did a great job of walking us through the CX-5 features and allowed us to select the one we liked the best for a test drive. If you've ever been to a dealership to check out a new vehicle, you know how pushy salesmen can be. Gregory was the complete opposite. He was very knowledgeable about the car and had a no pressure approach to our visit and questions. This made us feel more comfortable in spending time with the car instead of that feeling that you just want to go try something else. After a while of talking to Greg, we decided that we would like to look into cost options to trade in our Saturn for the CX-5. Once inside the dealership we worked with Reyes to outline our available down payment, trade in value and desired monthly payment. Reyes worked with us to reach a lease option within our comfort zone and we were happy to sign for our new car! Long story short, we've bought a lot of vehicles over the years and this was the most enjoyable buying experience we have ever had. After emailing Mazda execs I received an apologetic call from the owner, Taz Harvey. He informed me that Dave Brown would be punished but he couldn't fire him. In Mr. Harvey's words, "you don't fire Kobe Bryant." I guess Dave Brown can feel good with himself about the job he does. I'm certainly not convinced. Mr Brown reminds us that there are two sides to the story. He certainly has a platform to tell his side if I left anything out. Like the fact that I left out when he stated " If we were on the street, this would be a different matter" Either way, the guy who signs his checks seems happy, so who am I to argue? read more

Terrible experience trying to buy a new car at this dealership. I had been there a week earlier to look at a Mazda CX-5. Michael Barrilleaux was the salesman who worked with me. Wasn't ready to buy it right then cause I was considering a number of different models. After a week of doing research online, I came back to Dublin Mazda knowing exactly which vehicle I wanted including the options and color. I also had done my homework and got some competitors' offers via email. Since I was first introduced to the CX-5 by Michael, I wanted to give him a chance to earn my business and match the best offer I got. I got the same offer from two other dealerships so I knew I wasn't being completely unreasonable. I made sure to let Michael know when I came back in that I had an offer from another dealership that he had to beat. I showed him the emailed offer and he said he thought he could do "at least" that price. Michael immediately starts to badmouth these other 2 dealerships. I was also annoyed that I had to explain to him how I qualified for the Mazda loyalty discount from the manufacturer. Michael did not know that the offer is transferable within the same household, something I was easily able to figure out just reading the fine print on the Mazda website. He tried to convince me that I wasn't eligible since our current Mazda is in my fiancee's name and not mine. (You'd think since this discount doesn't come from the dealership, but instead from the manufacturer directly, that the dealer would look into whether more buyers qualify for this deal rather than interpret the promotion in the most narrow way possible and discourage people from getting this deal.) In any case, they did not have the exact car I wanted on the lot. Michael said they'd have to do a search. Within the first fifteen minutes of his search I said I would be willing to switch to a more popular color to make it easier to find the car in the option package I needed. I did a preliminary search on Mazda's corporate site and already found 3 cars that fit my criteria so I know there are cars out there this dealership can get a hold of. (And my search didn't even include looking into shipments that are coming in from the factory). But somehow it takes the staff at Dublin Mazda 2 HOURS to locate a car that fits my criteria. It became clear later on why they wanted me to invest all this time in the process. Meanwhile the whole time he's "trying" to find this car, he gives no indication that he can't match the competitors' offer. (It's clear to me now that he was just stringing me along) I made sure that in our conversations throughout the process I continued to mention that I needed him to beat those other offers. Still he's says nothing about that being a potential problem. So after 2 hours he finds the car and this is when he decides to check with his sales manager to find out what kind of deal he can ACTUALLY get. At this point it starts to feel like a classic good cop/bad cop sales trick. And of course that's exactly what it turns out to be! Sales Manager, Reyes, comes out and tells me that they don't have a hard time selling these cars for MSRP (meanwhile it's the end of the month and he's sitting on 9 CX-5s on the lot) so that's the best price he can do. I reiterate to the Sales Manager that I have two offers that are much lower than that. To which the Sales Manager tries to convince me that those dealerships are being dishonest and those offers aren't going to be honored when I go there so my drive out there will be time wasted. (Sounds just like the 2 hours I spent sitting in Dublin Mazda!) I tell him that I'll take my chances. He then has the audacity to ask if I would come back to Dublin Mazda if I can't get the price I want at the other dealerships! I asked him why I would if I can get MSRP ANYWHERE. He goes back to talk to the General Manager. When he comes back out he says that he can get me the car I want for invoice + 3%. Sounds like a great discount right? WRONG! MSRP on this vehicle is only 3.25% above the invoice price! He basically tried to trick me into paying the same price he was offering the whole time! I said no and walked right out of there. They've lost a customer for life. It's not because they wouldn't match the price, but because they wasted my time and treated me like I'm a sucker. They made me sit there for 2 hours while they had no intention of selling me the car for less than MSRP. The right thing for them to do was tell me right when I showed them my other offers so we didn't waste each others time. Instead they tried to get me invested in the sales process with them and tried to convince me that these other dealerships were lying to me in the hopes that I would just want to get the deal done and take their meager 0.25% off sticker price. Sorry Dublin Mazda, I don't appreciate being treated like my time is worthless. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO DUBLIN MAZDA for ANY REASON. read more

Created a yelp just to make this review..that's how awful this place made me feel. Made an appointment to come in and check out a car that has been sitting on their inventory and in their warehouse for a month. After test driving, i was ready to buy the car. We get to the table and they do their thing telling us what financing options they have, we ask for a lower price, etc...the usual negotiation that typically goes on. 5 mins into it, another customer comes through and they take our car for a test drive. I didn't get ticked off cause it is fair game, i didn't buy the car yet. (My wingman on the other hand, felt disrespected cause he wanted to buy the car and didn't want someone else test driving it.) What prompted my review and my walking out of the dealership was Reyes. When we took 10 mins too long to come to a decision, he took it upon himself to come up to me, give me the ultimatum to buy the car now or leave because the other ppl who test drove the car after me wanted to buy it. He was not my salesman first of all, and second, the car has been in a warehouse for how long? You took it out today at my request and all of a sudden a person wants to buy it 15 mins into my negotiating process? I even made a appointment and drove 2 hrs to get there, that's how serious i was to buy today!! It's great yall have a policy for first come first serve, but it won't be needed if you can't treat everyone fairly. And yes, I understand you need to sell cars, but to make me feel like I'm not as important as the person after me? Don't want to pull the race card, but i guess a young asian couple in tshirts and baseball cap doesn't look as promising as the other gal who came in with her bank account (Mom and Dad). Well, my friend, the engineer and scientist that we are don't need to feel like dirt when had planned to drop $6000 today as down payment. I told salesperson that I only want my bank to financing new car. A salesperson even General Manager did NOT LISTEN me. They asked me for my SSN and I told them not to run my credit or anything but use my SSN as my identification. They screwed me by switch my bank to their favorite bank. Oh.. WHY? Let me tell you. If you get an approved letter from your favorite bank for $21,000, you would find a car under $21k. This dealer may not able to offer you anything unless they switch your bank to their favorite bank so that finance manager can work on you to accept several new offers such as GAP Insurance! GAP insurance you can find a lot cheaper through your insurance company. VERY DIRTY because I was very familiar with GAP insurance! They said, "I offer you $1300 instead of 3400!" I smiled as I politely said No. If they offer you something which you are not familiar with, please take your time and research to see if you need them or not. I told finance manager that I don't need GAP insurance. WOW he was visibly UPSET! Its your money and your decision. You have a power to make a decision.
