Ever wonder where older Vietnamese or Chinese people go after church? Well, this spot is the not-so-secret old G meeting place on the weekends. We walked in to pick up some silken tofu with sweet ginger syrup, and wowzers -- we walked into a store filled with grandmas and grandpas yelling their orders from across the room -- all in Vietnamese or Chinese. Almost like a scene from one of those Chinese drama series. Anyway, this spot is known for their Tofu prepared in multiple ways but they also sell snacks, banh mi sandwiches, desserts, and grab-and-go lunch plates. I would say it's a good choice for a stop on a lunch hour or even a place to pick up food while on the way home for dinner. Decent prices. Classic selection.

This is a great place for all kinds of snacks, quick to grab foods, Vietnamese desserts and freshly fried tofu. Service is fast, friendly. The place can be crowded during certain hours. Clean and spacious with lots of foods displayed besides freshly made to order desserts. The fried bananas have to be eaten right away. Otherwise the skin can become tough. The banana inside is not a lot, though. They could slice a bigger cut of banana to fry.

Inside - a pretty extensive list of Viet desserts

4+ A place that has that small corner shop field that's located in the strip mall in San Jose. They have a counter serving lots of different Vietnamese desserts, and they have sandwiches for sale as well in addition to a good variety of goods available throughout the space. The folks here are super nice. This is one of those places I love supporting. My family and I were having lunch nearby, but we stopped by this place to get some goods. I wanted one of the desserts with the coconut milk and I wanted to get some sandwiches for a long drive I was going to do later. The dessert and the sandwiches were good and reasonably priced. Definitely a good spot if you want some Viet desserts or some foods on the go.

Another one of our favorite local Vietnamese grab and go spots. They have all sorts of food, drinks, and snacks to choose from. I believe it's cash only here. I always "make my own" Che and point to everything I want since I don't like the beans. Prices are pretty reasonable as well. They are popular by the locals and it could be very busy and sell out towards the end of the day so come early if there's things you want. Another favorite is the khoai mon dessert. We've tried the tofu pudding and that's pretty tasty. If you're in the mood for a savory snack they have banh mi as well. Authentic no frills Vietnamese spot in a crowded shopping center. Parking could be crazy and be backed up on the weekends so be prepared.

IMHO While I was waiting for my pedicurist to arrive at my hair salon, my stylist told me to visit Duc Phuong for a tea and snacks. Okay, I had time to kill... It was busy inside with a small crowd of customers. I saw a few big tables topped with wrapped food goods. I'm not Vietnamese so I had no idea what most of this stuff was. However, I was intrigued and picked up a few items. There were no prices on any of them. The cashier rang up my items and my total came to $16.50. I have no idea if that was good or bad. LOL I liked what I got. Will I go back? Maybe...

A great go-to place for some Vietnamese treats, it's Viet galore! This is hidden in the corner of the plaza entrance across Hue. It's definitely a little nerve-wracking to come in if you don't know Vietnamese since there may be a language barrier. But all the food here ... *chefs kiss*. There are so many options from getting dou hua (tofu pudding), lots of banh dishes, che desserts, soy milk ... there's a lot and it all looks yummy.. My all-time favorite is the dou hua, coconut jelly, and cha lua. I'm not sure if they accept cards but I usually just come in with cash on hand.

This place is a good spot for traditional Vietnamese fast food (i.e. banh mi, spring rolls, tofu, etc.) and desserts!

The atmosphere of SJ Eggrolls is casual, with a huge TV playing sports and minimal decor. The food arrived soon after I ordered. Their signature net egg rolls are phenomenal. I am obsessed with the crunchy net wrapping - it was the perfect crispy texture. The filling of pork and shrimp was savory and delicious. It paired well with lettuce, mint, pickled carrots, and a sweet chili sauce. I loved the spring rolls as well. They tasted super fresh and had a variety of fillings. The Chinese sausage spring roll was my absolute favorite. The salty sausage contrasted well against the clean, fresh vegetables. Every dish was a very good price. The mam tom had a strong flavor (as expected), but it was balanced well and tasted authentic. Mixing it with the noodles, herbs, and peanuts made for a great combination of textures and flavors. Portions were generous, service was friendly, and the food came out pretty quickly even though the restaurant was busy. It's not always easy to find Vietnamese dishes like these done well in the South Bay, so I was happy to find a spot that delivers. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Despite it being in a big lot, parking still took a while to find. Thankfully, we had thankfully just beat the lunch rush and not had to wait longer than 10 minutes for a table. My friend and I shared a Northern spread (Bun Cha Ha Noi) and a Southern style Goat Curry (Banh Mi Cari De). Service was definitely on the slower side that day, but thankfully we were proactive at getting the orders in. The Bun Cha Ha Noi was delicious - pretty much a DIY spring roll - all the fun, all the mess, with none of the clean up other than licking the plates clean. The pork belly was delicious; I was surprised how much I liked it, since I'm not a fan of pork. I devoured numerous rolls, and we also had some extra vermicelli to finish off the rest of the protein. This single meal was definitely more than enough for two! The Banh Mi Cari De (goat curry) was unfortunately quite the opposite. The goat was cooked very well - tough, gamy, and difficult to eat. There were probably six pieces in total, our first was tender, our second had bone, a little harder to chew, and the last was best compared to rubber. The curry was a bit watery, which made the banh mi soggy when dipped in. This was probably an adventurous try, but not a dish I'd ever consider ordering again.

If you can't find parking in that plaza, there's more parking across the road where the Target is. After spending about ten minutes on the written wait-list, our names were called. It's definitely a little easier communicating with much of the staff if you speak Vietnamese, and I find that waiting right outside the restaurant is best because they default to calling your name from the door once it's your turn. The interior is crammed with tables; the atmosphere feels busy and warm. There is a single room women's bathroom and men's bathroom in the back as well. The decor leans toward being classic more than trendy, which I liked. The menu is pretty big, offering a variety of items ranging from mainstream Vietnamese options to ones I don't encounter as often. I recommend eating family-style for many of these dishes, including the Bún Chả Cá Lã Vọng, which I enjoyed with my partner. The prices are pretty average, and their portions are generous. That said, they are cash or Zelle only. There is an ATM that you can use if you forget to bring cash, but this is still something to keep in mind. Overall, I can definitely see myself coming back. I wish I had the stomach capacity to try more of their dishes at once, and I 100% recommend that anyone give this place a shot.

Of course, I had to order all the essentials: banh beo, banh nam, banh loc, banh ram it, and cha. I was especially craving Bun Bo Hue, so that was my main dish, while my friend ordered the Mi Quang. The appetizers were all good and definitely satisfied my craving for Hue-style snacks. Unfortunately, the Bun Bo Hue was disappointing. The broth had a strange flavor and was missing the rich, hearty depth that makes Bun Bo Hue so comforting and memorable. I honestly found it surprising that a restaurant specializing in Hue cuisine would miss the mark on one of its most iconic dishes. Another thing I noticed was that the vermicelli noodles were broken into many small pieces, which made me feel like they weren't particularly fresh. It definitely affected the overall eating experience. Before leaving, I also ordered a banh canh to go. That ended up being really good, though I personally wasn't a fan of the fresh-cut noodles. By the time I got home, they had expanded quite a bit in the broth and became softer than I prefer. Overall, I enjoyed everything except the Bun Bo Hue. The appetizers were solid, the banh canh was tasty, and I'd come back for those items. However, the Bun Bo Hue is one dish I probably won't order again.

The standout dish was the egg rolls. They arrived hot, golden brown, and perfectly crisp, with a satisfying crunch and a flavorful filling that made them the best part of the meal. I noticed cobwebs that appeared to have been hanging in place for a long time, along with dirt and grime collecting in corners throughout the dining room. Even the menus felt sticky, with a visible film of grease and small food particles still clinging to them. The faded print and worn condition made them look as though they hadn't been replaced in years. Those details created an impression of neglect that made it difficult to relax and enjoy the meal. With a thorough deep cleaning and some updated menus, this restaurant could create a much more welcoming dining experience. Until then, the cleanliness issues overshadow what was otherwise an average meal.
