Everytime I find myself back in Monterey Park, I end up at Duck House. Not just because it's a stones throw from my childhood home, but also (and mainly) for the food! Their mushu pork, beef cubes, and duck (call in advance) are all seasoned to perfection and presented beautifully. The service is also exceptional. It's a gem of a place and I'm certain to go back next time I'm in town!

Duck House is yummy! The Peking duck was crisp, flavorful, and served with an adorable little porcelain duck on top that made the presentation extra memorable. We also enjoyed the comforting duck bone soup with tofu and cabbage that came with our duck two ways order as well as the savory pork ribs. To top it off, our waiters were thoughtful and attentive, offering to gift a second toy duck for our group and bringing surprise jellies for dessert.

Best Peking Duck in LA. We love tried many different Peking Duck offerings and the Duck House remains the best. In addition to the traditional Crispy skins, sliced duck meat with pancakes, they will also use duck meat to stir fry bean sprouts and duck bones to make delicious cabbage and tofu soup. We love coming here for Chinese holidays and special occasions. Great for entertaining out of town guests.

Ducks are crispy and the skin is not too fatty, we ordered the duck two ways, the duck bone soups are pretty good as well. This is the best place to have Peking duck, Better than Jirong.

This very relax small restaurant. The service is decent. Food is very solid for the price.

I've been here a few times for family gatherings. This place is amazing and delicious. Peeking Duck: Delicious, and they provide more rice wraps when you run out. The duck decoration is a cute touch. Duck Soup: So good. I love duck soup in general. It's light yet flavorful. I had about 3 bowls. 蔥油餅: This was great. I prefer thinner ones, but not so thin that they are like chips. Here, it's thick enough for a nice chew. Wintermelon Tea (冬瓜茶) is a bit on the watery side, so it's not as sweet as it usually would be. Mapo Tofu: We got mild spice since we had a two-year-old at the table. The flavor itself is more on the subtle side, but great nonetheless. I'm someone who prefers a stronger punch, but that could be fixed with more spice, so I'll give it a try next time we dine here. Parking: There is a small parking lot, but I've never had an issue parking there. There seems to be decent street parking, too, if the lot is full. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Great place for family gatherings.

Overall just OK Chinese place, lots of Americans so catered to that taste. I think there are better Chinese places considering San Gabriel valley's Chinese offerings. Small parking lot and nice Chinese interior design though. Very friendly services super personable. Order duck ahead and it'll come quick. Defining factor is their super crispy duck skin that's separated from the meat, and they remove the fat underneath, which makes it feel healthier. Eel sticky rice was good as well. Other dishes were OK Chinese dishes. Loved the coconut sago balls not too sweet!

Didn't visit for a long time~! Good to be back again~~

It's been a long time, good to be back~~ The duck was perfectly cooked with crispy skin and tender meat, and the other dishes were just as delicious. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. The restaurant was clean and had a comfortable atmosphere. I'll definitely be coming back and would highly recommend Duck House to anyone looking for a tasty meal!

The food & service here are really excellent. Whether it's regular dining or a bigger party in the private room, you'll def be taken care of. My only complaint is they always seem understaffed and frantic. I don't need anxiety whilst eating. Last visit we had crispy tofu (unbelievably delish), lotus shoots (spicy & vinegary), cabbage with dried shrimp, orange chicken & rose/basil tea. the tea pot was big enough for 4 of us to share.

For two people, we got the Peking Duck (one way). It came with 10 wraps, but there was more meat than wraps, so we ordered 10 extra wraps. The duck skin was crispy! This is definitely one of the best places to get Peking Duck!

We often drive by and were curious about the food. My wife loves duck, and a local spot specializing in it would be great, but unfortunately, the duck didn't quite meet our expectations. The duck was good, but not the best we've had. It's better than a couple of places in the SGV, but our favorite is in Rosemead. While we enjoyed the crispy skin, we found the duck a bit oily. We all loved the green beans; they had the perfect crispy texture and flavor. The Mapo tofu, however, tasted off and we wouldn't order it again. Since we had kids with us, we ordered the chicken and corn soup, which came in small cups. The spicy fish was a favorite - it had the right amount of spice and was very flavorful; we'd order it again. Duck House has been around for over 20 years, so they're doing something right, but we wouldn't rush back. We're glad we finally tried it out.

everything was so good, the beef was the best followed by the eel and the duck! Highly recommend trying and these dish. The service was good, so was the ambience.

Great food and service!! Highly recommend the peking duck and walnut shrimp. The seafood and crab soup was very nice but could use more seafood pieces. Will come back and try other things

Hello, can I bring my own wine?

Yes but we will have a $20 corkage fee per bottle. If you order a bottle of wine from us, we can waive that fee too.

Can you accommodate a party for about 75 people? Do you have a set banquet menu?

Thank you for your interest. We have different set menu. May I know for weekday or weekend? Also, have you ever been our restaurant? Please feel free to contact me at 626-625-9786

As of September 28, 2022, do they have outdoor dining for 12 people?

Hello, I was told by a friend I need to call ahead before I dine in to make sure there are Peking ducks available to eat for dinner, is this true?

Yes, please call one hour in advance for the Traditional Peking Duck order.

If I want to order take out roast duck for dinner, when should I place the order?

Hi, normally just one hour in advance is fine.

Are they open for dining in or outside dining?

Hi, we are open for dine in and dine out. Limited seating only. Please call for reservation. Thanks!

Hi are you open for take out on Dec 25th?

Yes, please call us for order. Thanks!

I have a reservation for 3 in December 1st under Sienna yoo. We're gonna order pecking duck can you confirm this please?

Thank your for your reservation. We will reserve one Peking Duck for u. Happy Holiday !

Does the traditional roast duck come as a whole duck or is it sliced up?

Normally it is already sliced up unless special request for a whole duck with no cut.

Do they have steamed buns instead of the pancake?

    They only have pancakes

    Do they use MSG?

Check out the racist anti-Asian roots of the long debunked myths about MSG. Myths about MSG have long been used against Asian American owned restaurants and it's sad that this false marketing has such a long legacy. MSG is in so many types of food,…

Can a smaller party order a quarter (1/4) or half duck?

I'm sorry you will have to call them. I don't know if they can do that.

Hi there. If I order the peking duck in two ways, do they "split" the duck to have half of the duck as roasted and the other half as a soup/stir fry? Thanks!

No we don’t need to split the duck in half. If you choose Duck Soup, basically, you still have the whole portion of Meat and Skin. Since most of the customers do not want the bones, we use a lot of duck bones to make the duck soup in a milky color…

When I called with the reservation, the hostess stated "one duck" for my reservation. Anyone know if that's a maximum or minimum order? I tried to clarify, but really couldn't understand the response from the restaurant. Thanks in advance!

I am sorry for your confusion. Normally customer will order the peking duck in advance with the reservation because it takes one hour to baked the Peking Duck. However, you can make the reservation without order the Peking duck. Please feel free to…

Does anyone know where I can get pressed duck in San Gabriel valley?

If still interested, you could try Chinese Garden on Garfield Ave across from Montebello Golf Course. It's Almond duck is pretty tasty and inexpensive.

For the price of food and the amount you get, I can't complain! The flavor of their own seafood boil sauce (boom sauce?) is a standard seafood boil flavor, it's legit. The flavors don't overwhelm you and make you wanna go to the toilet right away, you know what I mean? The family pack comes with 3 corn on the cob, 3 sausage pieces and 3 potatoes (like a medium sized potato!) it was good but I wish the seafood had time to sit in the sauce, you can tell the food was dumped on the sauce. We had to fight to scoop some sauce onto our mussels cause the bag was so full of food- what a good problem to have. Maybe the sauce is a bit thin? Maybe that's why it didn't stick to the food? Service was good, the ladies were attentive and professional. The decor looked like this place was known to be a bar- I mean there's a huge bar to the side. There's even a second floor but no one was seated there so it doesn't look used. Cute decor with the sea theme. Not happy about their toilet in the women's restroom. There's a a sign saying to please not dispose the toilet seat covers in the toilet cause it could clog it up. I was being a nice person and went to the trouble of respecting their wishes. It was gross as I was being careful not to touch the peed parts of the toilet seat cover. Don't judge me, only God can judge me! Come here to feed your family and friends at a very reasonable price! We started with the oyster sampler featuring selections from Hollywood, MD; Pope's Bay, VA; Buzzards Bay, MA; Chesapeake Bay, VA; and Wellfleet, MA. The oysters were exceptionally fresh and served with great accompaniments. We always order oysters when visiting seafood restaurants because freshness is so important to us, and Water Grill absolutely delivered. A must-order. The grilled Spanish octopus, served with fingerling potatoes, Niçoise olives, roasted tomato, pine nuts, and olive oil, was very good (3.5/5). We're fairly picky when it comes to octopus, and while we would have liked a bit more char, it was still among the better versions we've had. The New Zealand king salmon sushi with avocado, hazelnuts, papaya, and white soy-lime vinaigrette was fresh, clean, and delicious (5/5). While not particularly unique, it was executed perfectly. The crispy calamari with harissa aioli and cilantro-mint sweet chili sauce was also well done (4/5)--crispy, not oily, and very enjoyable. Calamari is another dish we frequently order, and this version met our standards, even if it wasn't especially memorable. The standout among the appetizers was the New Zealand pink bream ceviche with cilantro, red peppers, onions, lemon juice, and olive oil. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were incredibly fresh (5/5). We only added a touch of salt. This is another must-order dish. The Peruvian bay scallops with pistachio citrus pesto were somewhat underwhelming (3/5), and the Brussels sprouts with bacon and chestnuts (3/5) didn't leave much of an impression either. The lobster itself was excellent (5/5)--sweet, fresh, and perfectly prepared. The accompanying coleslaw wasn't our favorite, but we'd happily order the lobster again and probably go for a larger portion next time. The absolute star of the evening was the Massachusetts black sea bass. It was easily one of the best dishes of the night and possibly one of the best fish dishes we've ever had at a restaurant (5/5). Tender, juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. To top it all off, the restaurant surprised us with a complimentary birthday dessert featuring chocolate cake, vanilla cake, oatmeal cake, and ice cream. It was thoughtful, delicious, and a wonderful ending to the meal (5/5). Overall, Water Grill earns a well-deserved 5/5. The quality and freshness of the seafood were outstanding, the beachfront ambiance was beautiful, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. Definitely a must-try seafood destination in Los Angeles. Thank you to the entire team for such a memorable experience--we truly appreciated it.
