This is THE spot for duck and one of the few places I frequent repeatedly. My friends and I come here all the time for birthday and holiday celebrations for years and it's always a great time, both the food and the service. If you're planning on ordering duck, you need order at least an hour in advance and when it's a busy day (like Thanksgiving) they may limit you to a max of 2 ducks. If you can try the seasonal ice plant with sesame sauce or lotus stems, please get them. They were a lovely surprise and truly delightful for everyone in our group. 10/10 recommend

Traditional Roasted Peking Duck 北京烤鴨一吃 Duck Bone Soup with Napa and Tofu (R) 白菜豆腐鴨架湯

I've been here a few times for family gatherings. This place is amazing and delicious. Peeking Duck: Delicious, and they provide more rice wraps when you run out. The duck decoration is a cute touch. Duck Soup: So good. I love duck soup in general. It's light yet flavorful. I had about 3 bowls. 蔥油餅: This was great. I prefer thinner ones, but not so thin that they are like chips. Here, it's thick enough for a nice chew. Wintermelon Tea (冬瓜茶) is a bit on the watery side, so it's not as sweet as it usually would be. Mapo Tofu: We got mild spice since we had a two-year-old at the table. The flavor itself is more on the subtle side, but great nonetheless. I'm someone who prefers a stronger punch, but that could be fixed with more spice, so I'll give it a try next time we dine here. Parking: There is a small parking lot, but I've never had an issue parking there. There seems to be decent street parking, too, if the lot is full. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Great place for family gatherings.

Best chinnese food I had. Made a reservation came early and they let us go in and the crew were all so kind and lovely. Best energy I have felt from a restaurant in such a long time. Trans friendly and welcoming. Very romantic as a first date spot or anniversary. Peeking duck done 2 ways is ART!!! Prices are great and nothing will compare in the area. Will be going again

Service is very attentive. You truly get the service & quality that you pay for. The duck is light yet crispy and fatty without being overly so. I can't wait to go back! This spot is the perfect place for a celebration or anniversary dinner. The atmosphere is very kitschy too, definitely not something you'd ever expect, which makes it very refreshing for a restaurant like this.

The food & service here are really excellent. Whether it's regular dining or a bigger party in the private room, you'll def be taken care of. My only complaint is they always seem understaffed and frantic. I don't need anxiety whilst eating. Last visit we had crispy tofu (unbelievably delish), lotus shoots (spicy & vinegary), cabbage with dried shrimp, orange chicken & rose/basil tea. the tea pot was big enough for 4 of us to share.

For two people, we got the Peking Duck (one way). It came with 10 wraps, but there was more meat than wraps, so we ordered 10 extra wraps. The duck skin was crispy! This is definitely one of the best places to get Peking Duck!

Duck House is a long standing GEM in the SGV and is the go-to for delicious peking duck. What makes their version of the dish unique is the extremely thin wrap! It's literally tissue paper thin, but just supportive enough for your duck, some dressing, and vegetable toppings. Their other dishes are also 10/10, literally every dish we ordered was absolute authentic and delicious. Unfortunately, I don't' recall the names of these (lol), but luckily their menu has pictures, so cross match my posted ones if you want to try everything we did! The eel topped sticky rice was a HIT. We also loved the crunchy fried tofu. The surprise absolute heater of the table was definitely the chilled jellyfish! It was so refreshing and paired perfectly with the other rich dishes, such as the mongolian beef (also a 10/10). I definitely recommend making a reservation, and note you MUST call and order the peking duck in advance!

chicken and corn soup - get this

We often drive by and were curious about the food. My wife loves duck, and a local spot specializing in it would be great, but unfortunately, the duck didn't quite meet our expectations. The duck was good, but not the best we've had. It's better than a couple of places in the SGV, but our favorite is in Rosemead. While we enjoyed the crispy skin, we found the duck a bit oily. We all loved the green beans; they had the perfect crispy texture and flavor. The Mapo tofu, however, tasted off and we wouldn't order it again. Since we had kids with us, we ordered the chicken and corn soup, which came in small cups. The spicy fish was a favorite - it had the right amount of spice and was very flavorful; we'd order it again. Duck House has been around for over 20 years, so they're doing something right, but we wouldn't rush back. We're glad we finally tried it out.

Jacky is very friendly and provided excellent customer service experience during our visit. Amazing food and outstanding service at Duck House. Every dish was packed with flavor, and the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed from the moment we walked in. We love their food and the consistently great service. Highly recommend for anyone craving delicious, well‑prepared dishes and a friendly dining experience.

Came on a Friday night and there wasn't too much of a wait. The service was surprisingly fast and the food was great. The wallpaper and decor is really nice, I like the silverware.

Peking duck. Best Peking duck in town. All the staffs are so nice.

Duck Roasted Peking Duck In Two Ways 北京烤鴨二吃

Absolutely outstanding! This was one of the best Chinese meals I've ever had. The Peking duck was perfectly prepared--crispy skin, tender meat, and full of flavor. The fried rice was incredible, with amazing texture and taste, and the green beans were simply spectacular--fresh, perfectly seasoned, and surprisingly one of the highlights of the meal. The service was friendly and efficient, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. If you're looking for authentic Chinese food in Los Angeles, this place is a must-visit. We'll definitely be back!

Yes, please call one hour in advance for the Traditional Peking Duck order.

If I want to order take out roast duck for dinner, when should I place the order?

Hi, normally just one hour in advance is fine.

Does the traditional roast duck come as a whole duck or is it sliced up?

Normally it is already sliced up unless special request for a whole duck with no cut.

Do they have steamed buns instead of the pancake?

They only have pancakes

Do they use MSG?

Can a smaller party order a quarter (1/4) or half duck?

I'm sorry you will have to call them. I don't know if they can do that.

Hi there. If I order the peking duck in two ways, do they "split" the duck to have half of the duck as roasted and the other half as a soup/stir fry? Thanks!

No we don’t need to split the duck in half. If you choose Duck Soup, basically, you still have the whole portion of Meat and Skin. Since most of the customers do not want the bones, we use a lot of duck bones to make the duck soup in a milky color… Read more

When I called with the reservation, the hostess stated "one duck" for my reservation. Anyone know if that's a maximum or minimum order? I tried to clarify, but really couldn't understand the response from the restaurant. Thanks in advance!

I am sorry for your confusion. Normally customer will order the peking duck in advance with the reservation because it takes one hour to baked the Peking Duck. However, you can make the reservation without order the Peking duck. Please feel free to… Read more

Does anyone know where I can get pressed duck in San Gabriel valley?

If still interested, you could try Chinese Garden on Garfield Ave across from Montebello Golf Course. It's Almond duck is pretty tasty and inexpensive.

Out of the appetizers, the sprouts was the one that surprised me the most. The bacon and seasoning complement the baked Brussels sprouts perfectly. The calamari was whatever, I felt it was too battery for my personal liking but my friend loved it. The oysters were smaller than what I usually get from other restaurant but it still hit the spot. The entree was amazing and the jambalaya has quite a kick to it even when I ordered it at medium heat. There was plenty of shrimp, mussels, sausages, and protein in the pasta and rice dish. Parking in the plaza was atrocious because it is a busy plaza with a gym and other amazing restaurants and quick bites. Can't wait to stop by again.

The environment is family-friendly, with several tables occupied by kids and families. Just be aware that the music and overall noise level are fairly loud. Service was attentive and they checked up on us regularly. We ordered 2 dozen oysters ($1.50 each), the fish and chips ($11.50), mussels and clams ($10.50), and a beer. The oysters were fresh, mostly clean, and came with the usual accompaniments. My only minor complaint is that small seafood forks would have been nice to have available. The mussels and clams were the disappointment of the meal. While the broth itself was flavorful, the portion was downright sad. We received only 4 mussels and 4 clams total, and the bowl felt almost empty. The standout was definitely the fish and chips. Dare I say the best fish and chips I've ever had? The batter was well-seasoned without being overly salty. The fish was crispy, hot, flaky, and surprisingly not too greasy. The fries were also excellent, with a crunchy exterior and fluffy, mashed potato-like interior. I would absolutely order this again. Overall, for happy hour, come for the fresh oysters and fish and chips. Skip the embarrassingly skimpy bowl of mussels and clams.

We started with the oyster sampler featuring selections from Hollywood, MD; Pope's Bay, VA; Buzzards Bay, MA; Chesapeake Bay, VA; and Wellfleet, MA. The oysters were exceptionally fresh and served with great accompaniments. We always order oysters when visiting seafood restaurants because freshness is so important to us, and Water Grill absolutely delivered. A must-order. The grilled Spanish octopus, served with fingerling potatoes, Niçoise olives, roasted tomato, pine nuts, and olive oil, was very good (3.5/5). We're fairly picky when it comes to octopus, and while we would have liked a bit more char, it was still among the better versions we've had. The New Zealand king salmon sushi with avocado, hazelnuts, papaya, and white soy-lime vinaigrette was fresh, clean, and delicious (5/5). While not particularly unique, it was executed perfectly. The crispy calamari with harissa aioli and cilantro-mint sweet chili sauce was also well done (4/5)--crispy, not oily, and very enjoyable. Calamari is another dish we frequently order, and this version met our standards, even if it wasn't especially memorable. The standout among the appetizers was the New Zealand pink bream ceviche with cilantro, red peppers, onions, lemon juice, and olive oil. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were incredibly fresh (5/5). We only added a touch of salt. This is another must-order dish. The Peruvian bay scallops with pistachio citrus pesto were somewhat underwhelming (3/5), and the Brussels sprouts with bacon and chestnuts (3/5) didn't leave much of an impression either. The lobster itself was excellent (5/5)--sweet, fresh, and perfectly prepared. The accompanying coleslaw wasn't our favorite, but we'd happily order the lobster again and probably go for a larger portion next time. The absolute star of the evening was the Massachusetts black sea bass. It was easily one of the best dishes of the night and possibly one of the best fish dishes we've ever had at a restaurant (5/5). Tender, juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. To top it all off, the restaurant surprised us with a complimentary birthday dessert featuring chocolate cake, vanilla cake, oatmeal cake, and ice cream. It was thoughtful, delicious, and a wonderful ending to the meal (5/5). Overall, Water Grill earns a well-deserved 5/5. The quality and freshness of the seafood were outstanding, the beachfront ambiance was beautiful, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. Definitely a must-try seafood destination in Los Angeles. Thank you to the entire team for such a memorable experience--we truly appreciated it.
