This place is a 3.5 stars for me mainly because everything was really greasy. I've only tried one other Beijing restaurant so I am by no means an expert in these types of dishes. Got the Beijing braised eggplant, Shredded pork in sweet paste sauce, and Golden fried pork in sweet sauce for takeout. Beijing braised eggplant - I know eggplant is usually made greasy to taste good but it was a bit excessive. It was covered in oil. The sauce is also a bit too sweet for my liking. I was very surprised to find pieces of pork in here as I thought it was meatless, so that's great. The pork was really good and eggplant tender. Just wish it wasn't as greasy. Shredded pork in sweet paste sauce - this is one of my favorite dishes to get at another restaurant but I was a bit disappointed with how they served it. Again it was greasy. The pork was also coated in flour, making it very sticky. This is usually eaten with a bean curd sheet as a wrap with raw green onions but they ruined it by putting the green onions under the pork. It was all cooked by the time I got home. Golden fried pork in sweet sauce - I had this elsewhere that was really good. This place isn't bad but again, very greasy. One of the best beijing duck experiences in the SGV. My brother in law ordered everything beforehand so we didn't even need to look at a menu. Just sit and eat. We had shrimp, soup made from duck bones, the Beijing duck, of course, and a host of other dishes. They're all delicious. The tea was a blend of various herbs and dried fruits. So delicious! Sweet but not too sweet. We want to book another lunch here for next month but they only take reservations two weeks in advance. Need to be there at 12:30 to get duck. I really loved my time eating here. Upon arrival, at 7pm, I already noticed how busy this place was for dinner. I loved seeing the groups of 5-8 all gathered around enjoying themselves and the food. We got the Roasted Duck Combo, a Spicy Lamb Hot Pot, and a Duck Bone Soup. The roasted duck was giving Michelin dish with their beautiful plating. Under the crispy duck skin (which was separated completely from the usual attached fat) was the lean duck meat sliced so thin. There's wonton wrappers, cucumbers, thick hoisin sauce, and thinly sliced scallion whites for you to build what I would compare to a duck taco lol! The duck bone soup was also so rich and collagen filled. The broth reminds me of sulluhtang bone broth where it's just been low and slow cooked for hours and hours. It came with meaty and boney duck bones along with Napa cabbage and tofu. The lamb hotpot was really good (and I'm not even usually a fan of lamb!) because the meat was super tender and the spiciness of the broth made everything you dipped into it addicting. The Peking Duck Set is wildly delicious. The presentation is awesome with each side of the Duck being carefully carved out, the Duck meat is thinly sliced while the crispy Duck skin is perfectly but into rectangles. In additional how crispy the skin is I very enjoy a Peking Duck set with the thin crepes instead of the bao and Beijing Tasty House does it this way. I was taught to layout my crepe, dip the Duck meat into the dark thick sauce and lay it on the crepe. Next add the cucumbers and thinly sliced scallions and the last part to dip the skin into sugar and place it on top of the cucumbers. Next roll it up like a taco and enjoy and wow it was soo good! There is a casual dining area and a fancier private area for a larger group. The service is prompt and their menu is beautiful picture book of all the amazing dishes this restaurant offers. I wish I could order the entire menu but I would be so broke and so fat. In additional to the Peking Duck, I would recommend ordering their thinly sliced sweet and sour pork, coconut shrimp, braised beef and tomato stew and simple stir fried cabbage. I passed this place so many times on Valley, and decided I must try their deal. I tried their 2 person combo A and really enjoyed the deal! The three dishes were all great (though honestly might be spicy for someone who doesn't usually eat spice) and the two lemon teas that were included were a nice touch as well. The kong pao chicken was sweet with a hint of spice, the salad was refreshing even with the added chili oil, and the mapo tofu was good, although nothing special in my opinion. We had added a sizzling lamb plate too, and it was definitely filling for three people. It looks like the deals they had were what a lot of the other patrons ordered as well. They have special combos right now which are a great deal. While their other more elaborate dishes range in the $20s and up, they're now offering several combos feeding 2-4 people from $30-$80. We were very satisfied with the $40 combo for 2 people. Portions are very good as it was enough to feed our party of 3 and everything was very flavorful. The sweet and sour fish was especially good with a crispy exterior and the sauce was balanced (not too sweet nor too sour). The combo meal even included 2 sparkling Pineapple Plum drinks! My friends and I ( party of 10) went for dinner last night. We ordered the 10 people banquet pre set menu for $600. Foods were delicious but portions were small. The crispy shrimps only had 8 shrimps instead of 10 just made no sense. We had to cut the shrimps in halves. We were told no peking duck as part of the menu which we had to preorder ahead of time. So we substitute with lobsters and paid the difference. The chef forgot to cook our lobsters. We asked the waitress and then waited additional 45 minutes from the last dish served before the lobster dish was brought out to our table. read more
