I absolutely adore this place. Great country town stop with fresh baked breads and bakery delights. If you're hungry and don't want extreme wait for your delicious breakfast or deli style menu.

This bakery is located in Santa Ysabel. We came across it on our way into Julian. Locals highly recommend this spot to visitors. Such a cozy and quaint bakery offering fresh baked breads, desserts, jams, coffees, pastries, and a good lunch menu. My kids had a chocolate eclair and shaped dinosaur cookie while I enjoyed a leek potato croissant. We also bought a loaf of jalapeno cheese bread to go. The sandwiches sounded yummy, but we were saving our appetite for lunch elsewhere. Great selection on the menu and I would like to try a sandwich next time. Also, check out their little gift shop while you wait for your food. The staff is friendly and made my experience worthwhile.

This place always has so many good things to eat. I highly recommend the quiche. The desserts here are my favorite. I definitely like Dudley's the best out of all the places to eat in Julian.

Love dropping by Dudley's when I'm in the area. They do everything well here. The baked goods are incredible, the sandwiches are delicious, and the coffee bar is pretty solid. There's usually a line here, but it's totally worth the wait. There's a cool little store inside that sells all sorts of little knick knacks which really add to the overall charm. It's a good roadside stop if you happen to be driving by.

Dudley's is always a great stop! It's a little pricey however it's worth the money for these great tasting bakery items.

A must stop when driving up to Julian. They have delicious pies, jams, olive oil, and their famous bread. Great variety of flavors and good price. I always get the jalapeño cheddar and the raisin date. You can always freeze the bread and grab some slices as you go so the bread does not go bad. They also have coffee and breakfast options and a cool house items to buy. :)

Dudley's has Sandos and baked goods, delicious macarons with a line out the door. bread for sale too. long line but with it for the experience. some couch seating by the door. very large space but not much seating.

Such a cute and charming local bakery to get delicious pastries, sandwiches, whole loaves of bread, cafe drinks! We tried their spinach feta pastry, raspberry cheese danish, and spiced apple walnut pastry. They were all tasty, flaky, buttery with the perfect level of sweetness. Their chipotle turkey sandwich was also fresh, flavorful, and filling! All the ingredients complemented each other from the pepper jack cheese to the red onion, tomato, chipotle aoili and jalapeño cheddar bread. They sell whole loaves of all sorts of breads, pies, cookies, muffins, cafe moto coffee, local honey, etc. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating as well and plenty of free parking. A must stop in town! Prices are very fair and reasonable and service is prompt and efficient!

So many wrongs. BF ordered egg and cheese croissant . I ordered French Dip. For eat in. Egg and cheese came on a smashed bun with what looked like prefab eggs and very little to no cheese. His remake with croissant was no better and smallest, coldest sandwich I've ever seen. He got a refund. My French Dip was more like a pressed cheese sandwich with maybe two slices of gray beef. The Au Jus was brown water with no flavor. Adding the horseradish cream, salt and pepper out of those little packets didn't help. Never, ever again.

Very cute coffee shop on our trip to Anza borrego and glad we stopped by. Honestly we actually stopped by just use a restroom but this was a really good find. Lovely aesthetic on the inside and quite a nice selection of items for purchase as well. The variety of breads they have was unbelievable! Put the bread lover in me really wanted to go all out. The pastry selection was also really lovely. Husband and I got the Pistachio Stuffed Flaky Brioche and it was really delicious even a few hours later. The pistachio cream was smooth and not too sweet either and when really well with the croissant. Sister-In-Law got the Nutella flaky brioche and that definitely did have quite a lot of Nutella inside! Definitely value for money. Friends also got one of the savory pastries and they said the flavor was really nice but it wasn't really crispy.

We come here at Dudleys mostly for their Pies, their bread and other Pastries were good too. My wife can eat a whole pie here in one sitting by herself; that's how much she likes their pies. We mostly eat here at their place and then buy more pies to go. We always purchase their APPLE PEACH PIE and APPLE MANGO PIE. Both pies were really good, have plenty of fruits inside their pies too, and most of all they are not overly sweet. Staff are friendly, and plenty of parking around.

I haven't tried the baked goods yet. We stopped here on our way to Julian and decided to come back on our way home and bought baked goods, a Dutch apple pie. When you come to Julian (technically not Julian yet) you gotta get a pie. The pie looks good. And the loaf looks yummy. The cashier did a nice gesture and she was friendly. The place looks inviting, didn't feel like sitting down to eat but the place looked like a good place to bring some baked goods home. Forgot to mention that the price of pie ($20.95) is way cheaper than my regular supermarket.

Raisin date but bread! I haven't had this in 30 years! Only waited 10 minutes to be helped - I wasn't looking forward to a long line and was happy to see it short midweek! Probably bc it wasn't a weekend. Yummy bread - next time I'll try other loaves - this time I just wanted a taste of nostalgia - be back sooner for more

We settled on this location since we had a large group, and they had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The shop itself is super cute and I think their outdoor seating is where they really shine! Plenty of benches and tables outside for a picnic type vibe, and they have a small garden that you can stroll through. There was even a friendly resident cat when we came! I got a slice of bumbleberry pie but also tried my friend's apple pie and strawberry rhubarb pie, all with crumble crusts, and they were all good with the perfect crust texture. I also got a taste of my friend's cinnamon ice cream which was good and went well with the apple pie! Lastly, I ordered a pint of their apple cider which was refreshing and just the perfect amount of sweetness, although it was a bit on the pricier side. They also had other things for sale like dog bones, honey, and seeds. The place gave cozy rustic vibes for sure. Overall, a great option if you're looking to enjoy some pie and relax in their garden seating area.

As far as I can tell, they have the same menu and the pies taste the same. We arrived pretty early in the morning and were the only group up until the end. Order at the front and pick-up towards the side when they call out your number. Dogs aren't allowed inside but there's a huge outdoor area in the back with a beautiful garden and tons of shade. They have a cat wandering around so make sure to keep dogs on leash! I ordered the Apple Crumb a'la mode, which comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The pie was crumbly and the apple filling was sweet and warm. Pairs perfectly with the cold vanilla ice cream! If ice cream isn't your go-to pie accompaniment, you can also get whipped cream. I also got to try the strawberry rhubarb and bumbleberry but those were a bit too tart for my liking. Great snack to start the day! Make sure to stop by if you're in the area and try the apple pies that make Julian so famous.

We entered through the barn area, where their had real hides for sale and another cute clothing shop. We walked towards the restroom signs, then entered on the right side. Inside the Julian Hard Cider building was a bar area and cute tables for sitting. It was quite warm on the day we went, so we opted for outdoor seating. We had ordered at the front where these two nice ladies were pouring the cider. I had chosen their seasonal flight which included - caramel apple, a mule, passion fruit tea, watermelon, applerita, and chata. Our flight had a cute cup of pretzels as well. We sat outside enjoying our cider while listening to the cars go by. The cider was very refreshing on the warm day and we were able to enjoy each other's company. This location is very quiet and aesthetically pleasing. Definitely a must if you're visiting Julian, too!

It started out with her ripping a muffin tin out of my one year old son's hands! I was furious! We ordered 2 flights and let the kids play with the muffin tins to keep them occupied and she walked right up to my son without even acknowledging me and ripped the muffin tins that the flights came in out of his hands! He immediately began crying and she said "I think your done with that!" Then when we were packing up to leave we let the kids play in the play area and she came storming out saying "I NEED ALL MY GLASSES BACK RIGHT NOW!" We made sure she had them and then she said , " ONES MISSING!!! GIVE IT BACK NOW OR ILL CALL THE COPS BECAUSE YOUR NOW TRESPASSING!!" We told her we didn't have it, perhaps my husband who went to the bathroom took it with him" She was literally screaming at us and told us to leave! I stood by the car in the RAIN WITH MY SON, because my husband had the keys and my phone. My husband was livid! He didn't even take the glass to the restroom he left it on the bar before he went. This woman obviously has some serious issues with children and just general people skills. I'm honestly still so shocked and disturbed.

Food was so good (burger and grilled chese with brisket.) And even though it's in the podunk Santa Ysabel, there are other things (pie, bread) at the same intersection so you can get a lot done. I'd like to also call out the fries. I have an unhealthy obsession and visceral reaction to bad fries, but Farmhouse 78 hits it out of the park with their fries. It defies logic that other sit-down places will meticulously prepare quality, fresh food, then slap frozen Ore-Idas down on the plate. Farmhouse 78 does not do that. Fresh cut potatoes fried in beef tallow. Doesn't get any better than that. I'd add a sixth star just for the fries if I could. I plowed through them before I even touched the sandwich.

I even brought friends who had never been here before, thinking it could become one of our regular stops when we're out hitting the trails. Instead, it left a bad taste in everyone's mouth... and not just from the food. Waitress: Where do I even start. She claimed she was hard of hearing--but her attitude spoke loud and clear. Tossing menus on the table, aggressively slamming salsa down, and getting snarky over being off because our party count was off by one person. Seriously? It took two seconds to adjust the table, but apparently that was just too much. Yes, she technically did her job... but with such a cold, unwelcoming, and rigid attitude that it made the whole experience uncomfortable. What really stood out? We were there first and ready to order, yet she chose to take care of every smaller table that came in after us. No communication, no "I'll be right with you," nothing. Just ignored. Basic courtesy clearly isn't part of the service here. And trust me--I used to be a waitress. I handled large parties all the time and actually communicated with my tables. It's not that hard. Honestly, if gratuity hadn't already been forced onto the bill, she would've gotten $0. The only pleasant person we encountered was the busser--quick, friendly, and actually seemed like he wanted to be there. Maybe swap their roles, because he outperformed her by a mile. Food: Let's talk about the food... if that's what we're calling it. Everything came out cold. Not "warm-ish," not "could be hotter"... just straight up cold. It felt like our plates were sitting under a heat lamp for way too long before making it to the table. One "white" friend asked to have her meal fixed--fine, no problem. But when another "Hispanic" friend asked the same thing? Suddenly there was attitude, menu slamming, and mumbling under her breath. So... what exactly was the difference? Why the inconsistency and hostility? If the kitchen is that backed up, maybe management should step in and help instead of letting food die in the window. Just a thought. Final Thoughts: This place had potential... but that waitress single-handedly ruined it. We'll be taking our group (and our money) elsewhere--Dudley's Bakery is looking like a much better option moving forward. I usually bring large groups out here, so this isn't a small loss. Unfortunately, if this is the level of service they're okay with, this place isn't going to improve anytime soon. At this point, it's less "Farmhouse charm" and more "junky barn energy."
