I love this place, and don't visit it as often as I should. But.... each and every time I do visit it's worth every single dime. I've never had a bad meal here. My go-to meal is their Irish Nachos with the waffle fries. I've been going to Dugans for at least 5 years as I write this review. Their Irish Nachos have NEVER done me wrong. As of this writing, though, the past two times I've ordered them they have been the ABSOLUTE BOMB!! Not sure what it is?? The waffle fries have been cooked to perfection, or they're doing a different cheese sauce?? The chili they put on top is ALWAYS spot on. As is their Jalapeno Ranch dip!!! To DIE FOR!!! Needless to say, I'm certainly RECOMMENDING them!!! Like I said above (hopefully), I've had many different meals here, and NONE have disappointed. My roomie loves their Fish and Chips!! First off, let me start by saying how sad this is. This place was so disappointing that I'm actually writing a review...only the best and the worst get my time. So here it goes: Tell me how much a draft PBR and Guiness should cost? Yeah, um...total was over $10.00 and the drinks were rung up with tax separate, so since it's alcohol the tax is already included...but somehow we ended up paying tax separate. But it gets better! The Guinness was flat and it took about 45 minutes to get our drinks. And then another 20 minutes to get our check...will never be back and would recommend you drive the 25 minutes to go to Hannah Flanagans in Hendersonville because it's better food, the beer isn't flat, you won't get gouged on prices (1.75 per pbr and $3 Guinness) and you'll end up saving time (even with the commute) on the time for 1 beer. Where to begin? Food took forever and when it first arrived, the mashed potatoes in the bangers and mash were ice cold. The fish in the fish n chips was greasy and over cooked. The bacon cheeseburger wasn't too bad, but not particularly good, either. The caesar salad was ok, but it takes a special kind of incompetence to screw up a salad, so that's not really a selling point. On the bright side, our server was nice. read more

This place has always been our go to restaurant when passing through town. We certainly hope today's visit isn't the new norm. Basically the service sucked today. We sat at the bar and It took 10 minutes for the bartender to finally decide to serve us. When the bartender drew my beer there was so much foam that when it finally went away i was left with 1/2 glass of beer. We then had to ask twice for items that we ordered and even with that, one of the items never did arrive. We sat at the bar with 2 bartenders working and still couldn't get a drink refilled within a reasonable time. We didn't order a 2nd beer each because at that point we decided our meal would be over before it arrived. It appeared that one of the waitstaff had brought their child in to visit and everyone was just hanging out playing with the baby. We believe in tipping well for good service but today was probably only the 2nd time ever that we left no tip. Very disappointed. Haven't decided whether we will go back. read more

While I may have been to Dugan's a dozen times dating back to the old location, this most recent time will be the last for me and my family. I typically only write reviews for exceptionally good service, but this weekend's epic dining experience was too disappointing not to share. We arrived shortly after 7:00 on Saturday and were seated immediately, in the booth right by the door. Some 25-30 minutes later, our waitress came by to tell us that she "had like 20 bills" and would be by shortly to take our drink orders. They really weren't that busy (i.e. only one football game on and a couple of empty tables) and at least one other waitress walked by a few times, but apparently thought nothing of a man and his two children sitting at a table with menus closed and no drinks or silverware. Hint: Closed menus mean that the customer is not only ready to order drinks, but their food too. Ten minutes after our hopes were raised what could possibly be construed as an apology preceding a promise of better service to come, the waitress finally took our drink orders and we asked her to take our food orders as well. While I can understand waiting for a properly poured pint of Guinness, my girls shouldn't have had to wait for their milks since we had already been there nearly 45 minutes at the time we placed the order. Another 15 minutes later the drinks arrived, and shortly thereafter the food. Our waitress didn't bother to ask if we needed anything... like maybe ketchup to go with the room temperature fries but she did notice we had no silverware. My ribs were okay, but the fries that may have been hot when we were first seated were only appealing to my eight year old. I would have complained, but that would have required the presence of a waitress. Some ten minutes later, the coleslaw that was supposed to come with my rib "plate" arrived, brought by the other waitress who had ignored us previously. We ate about half our food and sat for another five or ten minutes before the waitress asked if we needed anything. We asked for to go boxes and the check, which may have been the only things delivered in a timely manner that evening. In all honesty, this is the only time I can ever remember leaving no tip for a meal. I wish that I could have spoken with the owner to let them know just what a horrible experience we had, but this review will have to suffice. It's a shame to see what used to be an enjoyable pub descend into such disarray. I hope they turn it around, but my family and I won't be back to find out. read more

A decent Irish-themed bar featuring classic pub fare and a good selection of draft and bottled beers. The fish and chips were slightly overcooked but had a good, moist flaky quality on the inside. The bangers and mash were classic. There are numerous TV's for sports action. Service was professional and efficient. I'll be back. read more

Great little find in Bervard on a weekend at lunch time. Good selection of pub food and a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoyed some flights of beer, excellent wings and a yummy Reuben. We're in town once a year to hike/camp in Pisgah Forest. We'll surely be back. read more

I asked about their t-shirts and much of the selection was out of stock. Plus the prices posted for their apparel didn't match what they quoted me. Callie waited on us and could not be more patient and kind! This is a great Irish pub and the decor is awesome! The Guinness was flowing and the food was tantalizing! They give you enough to make sure you waddle out fully satisfied! Callie brought my daughter a brownie with ice cream for her birthday and we sang trying to really embarrass her...it worked a little.. Came here while being a standard tourist in Brevard, loved the atmosphere and the food was great. The onion rings come out and are HUGE, so good and plenty to share. The spicy Thai shrimp was also a favorite. All of our food was cooked perfectly and portions were large. Thanks to Asheville having so many micro-breweries Dugan's had a lot of beer options and a full bar. Service was great and overall a fun experience. Parking is very easy. Brevard has parking everywhere, we parked across the street once, but also there are two entrances to the parking garage behind the restaurant. read more

Extremely horrible management. While I was sitting at the bar a couple of other guys where getting into several arguments that escalated and the manager that was drinking at the bar broke them up then after that one of the gentlemen decided to swear at me even tho I had no communication with any of them . So the manager then comes over and he starts swearing and yelling and including me with them and I at that point hadn't even spoke to any of them so I confronted the manager and instead of dealing with the situation he just told me to move and he went back to drinking his beer.. that's not someone to leave in charge of a restaurant or bar. Dugan's is notorious among locals for overcharging, both on food and alcohol. But last night just broke the camel's back. $9.00 for a pint of Cold Mtn. $9.00... I called Skyland Distributing because I was curious. $185 for a half barrel keg. 124 pints in a keg. $1.49 per pint in cost. Ownership has completely forgotten that locals still live in this town and used to support local establishments. I believe I have given my last dollar to Dugan's. read more

I have eaten in restaurants in more than 50 countries. Other than a meal in Afghanistan (after which I got dysentery) my meal at Dugans was the worst meal I have ever had. The batter on the fish was chock full of grease and the piece of lettuce (garnish?) looked like it had been picked up off the kitchen floor after lying there for a couple of days. Oh my gosh. The Cowboy Burger is the best hamburger I have ever eaten. Add the homemade onion rings and, just wow!

The atmosphere is ok. The service sucks and the food is just ok. We ordered fried pickles and they were extremely overcooked. I ordered the bacon cheese burger with mashed potatoes and gravy. And the wife ordered spinach dip and chips. She barely ate any of the dip. She said it had an odd flavor to it. I ate all of my mashed potatoes! Very good might I add. The burger was okay. Arriving and leaving this pub was just about the only happy moments I had here. We went on a Monday at around 7pm. It just so happened to be my birthday too. So out of all the places to go, we chose to go here for my birthday dinner. What a mistake. We were sat at a booth underneath an air vent but didn't worry about it because we knew we wouldn't be there long (how could I have just assumed that?). Then sat there and waited and waited and waited. We waited about 10 minutes for someone to even acknowledge that we were sitting there. When the waitress arrives, we don't get an apology or an explanation of why we were waiting so long. The place wasn't even busy and there were 3 other waitresses working, so she had no excuse for taking that long. Then I asked the beer special and she said that domestics were on special that night. I looked at the list of DOMESTICS on their menu and ordered a shocktop. My boyfriend orders a bud light and our friend gets a shocktop as well. She ID's all of us and spends the most time looking at mine, and didn't even notice that it was my birthday (no big deal but she obviously didn't even look at the date which ALE would love to hear).The bartender pours the beers right away and leaves them on the bar about 15 feet from the booth were sitting at. We literally watched our beers sit there for 15 minutes before she even came back. She then proceeded to tell me that shocktop was NOT a domestic and that it wasn't on the domestics page. It was clearly listed as a domestic. Then she tells us it isn't draft on special, it's the bottles. WHY DIDNT SHE SAY THAT? I don't understand why she'd let me order a beer that clearly wasn't on special, when she knew that's what I was trying to order. Then after I've already taken a sip she's trying to take my beer back and get a different one. So I gave her the benefit of the doubt and got stuck with this $5 shocktop that I waited 15 minutes on. Then I ordered a philly steak with house chips. I ask if the house chips are made fresh for each order. She proceeds to say yes they are freshly made each order. So I ask for them FLOPPY or aka undercooked. She looked at me and told me that wasn't possible and she didn't understand what I meant. She just told me they were fresh but then told me they couldn't do that? Finally she says she'll make sure they're floppy. We get our food and my chips are BEYOND crispy. They're dark brown and hard and cold. The food was terrible. My steak on the sandwich was so dry it was hard to eat. Everyone else ate my chips since I didn't have time to talk to a manager, nor did I feel like getting that angry ON MY BIRTHDAY. Then this girl comes over and we tell her we need the check split three ways. She brings the checks back and it's ALL wrong. We literally ordered one beer each and she couldn't get the right meals on the right check. She goes to the back to try again. She comes back and it's STILL wrong. We literally had to spell it out for her AGAIN. She leaves and returns with checks that are STILL WRONG. Holy cow, I'm fuming at this point. She was so rude and offered up no apologies for her incompetence. We were there for two hours over a meal that should've lasted 30 min. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. Terrible service, terrible food, terrible menus prices. What a great way to ruin my birthday. read more

We were at the Pub on Wednesday before Thanksgiving and all we can say is WOW! Being a bit Irish by marriage and german decent, my hubby and I had a great time. The variety of beers was amazing! The food was excellent, hubby had fish and chips and I had corned beef and cabbage. Enough for another meal. Very generous portions. The staff was extremely friendly and the slide show of Ireland was wonderful. Of course there were several TV's with sports on them and the patrons seemed to be enjoying them all. Definitely needs a Irish Dessert. Somehow cheesecake just ain't it! We had Stephanie as a waitress and she was totally on the ball. She came back several times to check on us and brought our dinners right out to us. I highly recommend Dugan's Pub, and we will always make sure to stop by when passing through or staying in Brevard. It's a couple of blocks away from downtown, but worth the effort to get there. Dugan's has the friendliest, most welcoming, atmosphere of any full-menu restaurant in town. Popular with both locals and visitors for lunch and dinner. They offer a nice menu with something for just about everyone. Service is top rank. Ron, the owner, is frequently there making sure everything is just right and checks in with every patron. Prices are reasonable, the fare good, and the drinks get a generous pour. A large parking lot is across the street and a parking deck (with really low ceilings for us truck drivers) is in the back. Evenings bring a variety of live entertainment. The bar is perfectly separated from the dinning room. When there is live entertainment of the "loud equals talent" variety, quiet conversations are still possible in the bar area. If you can only eat in one place when visiting the little town of Brevard, make it Dugan's Pub. read more

We had a really bad experience at this pub. The food was bland and inauthentic. We ordered fish and chips. Fish was greasy, bland, and tasteless. Chips were frozen, packaged variety. My Bloody Mary had little or no alcohol. The pub was dingy. We are frequent visitors to the area but will not be returning to Dugan's. read more
