I was excited to visit this restaurant since I never had Chinese beef roll. Unfortunately it did not meet my expectations. The roll was overpowered by cilantro and the beef had no flavor. It was dry. I had to dip it in the garlic chili sauce to make it taste better. The portion size is huge... you get two big rolls. I only ate half and the rest was tossed away. It wasn't worth my calories. I also tried their fried wonton appetizer. The skin of the wontons were very thick. It was not thin and crispy. However, the inside pork filling was good. My last choice was the pork and shrimp soup dumplings. WOW... it was memorable. I opened the dumplings to see if I can find the shrimp inside and I DID! It was a nice piece along with pork mixture. "Came for a Togo's Sandwich, stayed for the dumplings.." A funny comment overheard at a nearby table. This new dumpling and noodle house is at the old Togo's location on Willow Pass. I am glad I stopped by to give it a try. This is a new restaurant and I feel they are still working through their kinks and best practices. I will likely come back and plan to try additional items. Here's the review break down: 1. Location- 5/5. Easy to access, ample parking along the side and towards the back. 2. Cleanliness- 4/5. Things in the front of the house are clean and organized. A bus boy routinely makes round to clear plates and be attentive to guests. My only issue was the bathroom that could've used some servicing. They were short staffed that day which makes it hard to keep up with cleaning back there. 3. Food 3/5. Fried Pork Wontons 3/5. The filling was good but the wontons were either double wrapped or over fried because getting a bite was tough. The wontons wrap was really tough and took away from the experience. It's a very dense bite so eat these sparingly. Beef Roll 5/5. Huge fan, the fresh ciltantro was so nice in this. Beef was perfectly cooked. I could've ordered rounds of this! Veggies (eggplant and green beans) 5/5. Simple and fresh presentations! Soup Dumplings 4/5. Lots of completion for dumplings in the area. Flavor was good but they were positions so close that picking each one up was a strategic move to prevent breaking it. Better spacing during prep would help. Dumpling and Noodle House is located off Willow Pass, and on the opposite side of the street as 99 Ranch. Just make sure if you're dropping by to keep an eye out, because if you miss it you'll have to find a way back looping around another street as it's in kind of a weird spot. The upside is that it has its own parking lot at least. It's nice to see a dumpling place in this area, as the only other dumpling place really is in downtown Walnut Creek, so good time to finally open one up in Concord. The place is pretty nicely decorated. Has lots of graphics on the walls, and it's nice and clean inside, even though from the outside it looks pretty old and deserted, probably due to all the papers posted on their windows, and the building itself is just old, so harder to do something about that exterior. They also do the frozen takeout stuff, so you can come by here to buy their dumplings to go, and then make them at home. The menu and the pricing of everything is actually not too bad. If you don't order a ton of stuff, just a bowl of noodles will not cost you all that much. If you just want some dumplings, it's actually not that expensive either. So cost wise, it's a nice spot on the thriftier side. Service is good, everyone was friendly, and you can either do the self-ordering QR thing, or just have them order for you. They do have physical menus too. Ordered quite a few things to try out since first time here. Let's start with the disappointing. The potstickers here are just really bad. I know, they're just dumplings turned into potstickers, but even then it's not even done right. Rather than that nice crunchy potsticking side, it's just a soggy moist mess. The meat inside also wasn't even flavored, and feels like they just kneaded everything together without anything else. Usually the filling helps to make everything come together for a potsticker, but these were awful, as they weren't even remotely crunchy. Also, what dumpling place doesn't have vinegar on the table too? Blasphemy! Next we have the tofu. So we asked for the tofu to not be spicy, which apparently was a massive mistake, because without the sauce it was just really poorly salted dish. Perhaps this would have been better with the sauce they usually included it with, but even then, it would really just function as more of a way to mask the terrible texture and dryness because they used a hard tofu over a soft tofu. So what was actually decent here? The tan tan noodles weren't terrible. Good tan tan noodles would include things like peanut or sesame sauces in it, but this one doesn't seem to have either of those, or at least not much of either. It is a bit spicy though, so do let them know if you don't want it spicy. The texture of the noodles were on the spot though, and nice and chewy, and with a bit of toughness to them which was quite good. There's really not much in the noodles itself though, outside than some bok choy that were steamed. I wouldn't mind coming back for this again though. The pan fried buns were alright too. These are not the traditional pan fried buns, but most dumpling places do their pan fried buns this way now, so changing with the times, and what not. One selling point is that there is a ton of juices inside, so make sure to use their specialty dumpling spoons to eat them. That is probably the best thing about the meal today, is that they have a specialty soup dumpling spoon, lol. Though on the first bite, it seems like there's a ton of meat inside, you can see in a subsequent picture, there's a big knot at the bottom center of the bun, so the meat isn't really a ball, but more of an umbrella shape. I do wish the pan fried part was crunchier though, but this seems to be a pattern for them when it comes to pan frying stuff. I was pretty excited to see that a dumpling and noodle spot had finally come to the Concord area. However, after experiencing this for the first time I have to say I was deeply underwhelmed by the food itself. While the inside has been nicely renovated, the menu is pretty affordable, and the service was good, it really couldn't outweigh one of its biggest weaknesses for me, which was the food itself. Everything was sort of hit or miss, but the one part that shouldn't be a miss are the dumplings, which was my least favorite especially in potsticker form. While the noodles and pan fried buns were alright, it's not really shouting dumplings and noodle house to me. The dumplings are also very small, so just keep that in mind when order for larger tables that you may need multiple orders. Might be back again in the future, but for now, I just don't have that craving at this place. read more

Service doesn't bother me much as the food is what would keep me coming back but this time a few of our dishes seemed "off." Or stir fried green beans and eggplant were overly greasy. The xlb just tasted flavorless and the wrappers easily ripped when we pulled them out. The pan fried dumplings were also quite greasy and sadly lacking flavor. Everything just tasted one dimensional. It did not disappoint! We ordered the scallion pancakes, XLB, beef noodle soup, and pan fried pork buns. It reminds me of the mom and pop shops I grew up eating at. We decided to try out Dumpling and Noodle House today based on the positive reviews it's gotten. They have a decent size parking lot, so parking was easy. The restaurant is also pretty big, there were plenty of seats available. For a 1:30PM lunch on a Sunday, it was pretty packed, so it looks like they get a good amount of foot traffic. Ordering can be placed online through a QR code, or I believe they can also just take your order as well. For our table of three, we shared: - Pork Soup Dumplings. These come in a set of six, decently sized dumplings. I thought for Concord standards, these soup dumplings weren't bad. The skin is on the thicker size, but you get a mouth full size of soup in each of the dumplings. Flavor of soup was okay, but the pork filling itself didn't really come through. - Chinese Beef Roll. These might be one of the better things we've gotten from here. It's not too oily, and the skin roll was slightly chewy. I thought portion size to price point, ~$13, was pretty equivalent. They're rolled and cut nicely so the filling didn't fall out. I am surprised with the amount of cilantro they put in these rolls though. I like cilantro, so it was good in my opinion. Decent portion of beef in there. - Stir Fried Green Beans. For the price point of ~$13, this was small. I've had larger portions and better stir fried beans at a lower price. Flavor is nice, but these beans are cooked until they were kinda soft. I generally like a crunch to my green beans, so this was meh, but I suppose that's considered a personal preference. - Pork Pot Stickers. My partner liked these. Their skirt was made pretty well. Flavor was on point. I thought it was a little too oily, but I also thought it was nice and crispy. Pan fried a little too brown, but otherwise not bad. - Scallion Pancake. I was disappointed when these were served. They looked nothing like the picture shown on the menu. It was not fluffy at all. These were like store-bought thin pancakes you can get at the fridge section of most Asian markets. Ingredients on these are sparse. The only redeeming points of these were that they were decently crispy and slightly flakey. I wouldn't recommend getting these. - Dry Fried Beef & Ho Fun. I'm not usually a fan of these, but the rest of my party liked these. Price point, ~15, was fair for portion size. Beef was nicely flavored. There was a well mix of ingredients in there. The only thing was, they didn't mix the sauce well enough. I had one bite with excessive sauce in the noodles, so it was slightly overwhelming. Also on the oilier end, but it's hard to make these perfect. There was nice "wok hei" to it, so I'll give it that. All in all, a decent, filling meal. I have to say that their service was friendly and fast. Food came out within 5 minutes of ordering, which was a nice surprise. Was searching online for food places in the area that had above a 4.0 rating and happened to drive here while on the search. The yelp reviews and pictures looked amazing so we gave it a try. The ambiance was brightly lit and filled with people. I wasn't a fan of ordering without seeing a menu and one of the items we wanted to order wasn't on the digital order sheet so we were unable to try it. Outside of that minor issue the food was served quickly & piping hot. The spicy pork soup dumplings were fantastic, but the chicken soup dumplings were just okay. The cucumber salad had a surprising kick of garlic that made me wanna slap my mama (in other words, it was AMAZING). The stir fry veggie noodles were definitely the best I've ever had, the fried pork wontons were the best thing we ate, and the scallion pancakes were perfectly crisped and delicious. Hits the spot! I saw this place pop up under Yelp's "hot and new" and knew I had to try it. My bf and I love getting dim sum, especially when they have the egg yolk buns for dessert on the menu! This restaurant is located right across Ranch 99 (yes Ranch 99, not 99 Ranch lol) and they have plenty of seating available. You scan the QR code to order and the food and drinks came out super duper fast. We had the fried rice, shumai, chicken XLB, shrimp/egg/chive dumplings, green beans and egg yolk buns. All of them were absolutely delicious, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be the XLB. Green beans were not far behind with the extra garlic flavor, not to mention the egg yolk buns which were the perfect ending to our meal. Also, don't sleep on the jasmine tea! We got the beef roll first and thought it was good, but a bit luke warm. Wish it was hot. We actually had leftovers of this and I took it home and put in a toaster oven and it was yum..better when I heated it up. The 2nd dish was the pan fried dumplings, which had good flavor, but the skin was kinda thick for my liking, but the inside was really good. The chow fun and the eggplant and strings beans were good here. Overall, everything had great flavor and definitely be back. It's located across from 99 ranch, and it's pretty spacious inside. The service was fast and they checked on us multiple times. I ordered the Chinese beef roll " #1 seller", spicy crispy chicken " similar to Hunan or Szechuan style chicken", and the combination fried noodles. Everything was outstanding! The chicken is so crispy and you get the great numbing effect from the peppers. They also don't over do it with the clove. This was exactly the type of family style meal my family had been trying to find for lunch, and we were incredibly pleased by the quality of the dishes, speed and availability of servers, and ease of ordering, despite us going at somewhat of a rush hour. Newly opened, must try place for delicious and authentic Chinese cuisine featuring dishes from various parts of China. Portion sizes are a little smaller than expected but the taste and quality definitely make up for that. Tables are quite small so not great for large parties (e.g. more than 4-6 max) and is slightly inconvenient if ordering many dishes. Servers are attentive and I appreciated that they always made sure our waters were filled. The big con is that ordering is done via smartphone/QR through an online platform. The signal is terrible inside the restaurant so it took ages for the website to load, let alone place any orders, which was super frustrating. Hopefully they can implement some free wifi to speed up the ordering system :( or have the waitstaff take orders by hand. What distinguishes Dumpling and Noodle House from other Chinese restaurants is their commitment to authentic Chinese cuisine. They are the closest thing to "eating like a Chinese person" I've found in a while. For example, to name a few: - Shredded stir fried potatoes in vinegar, characteristic of Sichuan cuisine. Eating this awoke so much nostalgia because my dad made this all the time for me when I was a kid. - Yuxiang eggplant, characteristic of Sichuan cuisine - Fried mantou with condensed milk + regular steamed buns. Their mantou taste like the ones I'd eat with my grandparents when I'd visit them in China. So soft and delicious. - Soup dumplings, characteristic of Shanghai cuisine - Sesame balls, pork buns, etc. and other more dim sum type foods - Ice jelly with brown sugar, a very popular Chinese dessert (iykyk) - Hand made soy milk (iykyk) Btw, my party of 4 spent approx $120 (maybe 11 dishes total?) and everybody was stuffed with leftovers available to take home. Just as I was about to order on my phone, our order was taken by the same person who greeted us. Our table didn't have any napkins or utensils, so we had to take one from the empty table next to us. After I grabbed one set of utensils, another server noticed and he grabbed one from another set of utensils from another empty table and placed it next to my mom. I felt like the food came out fast. We were checked up on once by the gentleman who took our order. I appreciated that I was able to pay for the bill not long after I asked for it. Overall, I didn't feel super welcomed when I dined here. I felt like the service could have been more friendly. Ambiance: Small space with what I remember to be less than 20 tables. There was one table able to accommodate a large group near the entrance. Minimal decor, but still looked nice. Interior looked clean. I thought the ducks on the wall were cute. Parking: Not too many parking spaces available in front of the restaurant or to the side. My mom and I found a parking spot on the side towards the back. Most of the parking spots were taken around lunch time. It's nice to have a place with tasty XLB right here in Concord. This restaurant had some very tasty dishes like their spicy dumpling soup, stir fry pea leaves, fried rice and Mongolian beef. Some dishes like the fried chicken dish were just ok. Got this place for takeout- service was quick and everything was ready in about 20 minutes. Can't say much about the inside vibe because we didn't eat there. Spicy pork soup dumplings- just fine, not very spicy and we've had better in the area Szechuan noodles- served cold so if this throws you off don't order but we quite liked it- simple and flavourful, great when paired with the spicy chicken Spicy crispy chicken- very VERY good, would order again 100x over. Very well seasoned and so crispy even with take out. Would recommend this dish for sure, again, great with the szechuan noodles too! read more
