Food and services were good. Never had dumplings before . I had a beef noodle soup & pork soup dumpling & bubble tea. I wanted spicy and waiter served exactly what I was looking for . Portion size shareable .

We came to Dumpling Xuan for dinner as we were craving Chinese food and found this spot near the MIT campus. For food we got the green onion & ginger lobster (2 for $58), salt & pepper pork chop, stir fried garlic pea tips, green onion pancakes, and soup dumplings. My favorite has to be the lobster which was so flavorful from the yummy ginger scallion sauce and really tender. Not to mention I thought it was a steal for 2 lobsters. The garlic pea tips were also great and really tender. It's always my go-to veggie to order at Chinese restaurants. The salt & pepper pork chop was good but a little too fatty and chewy for my liking. I wasn't a fan of the green onion pancake or soup dumplings. The green onion pancake didn't have a lot of flavor and I missed the flaky layers I love. The soup dumplings were also a miss as the skin was too thick and it tasted more like a steamed yeasted bao rather than a xiao long bao.

We ordered takeout from just down the street, and I'd be happy to go back and dine in another time! It looks like a traditional Chinese restaurant and is larger inside than I'd expected. We were given a wait time of 15-30 minutes and it was ready when we got there within that timeframe. We were most excited for the scallion pancakes and dumplings (steamed pork & leek dumplings and fried vegetable dumplings). I liked the dumplings, and the fried ones kept their crunch despite the (short) commute home. The scallion pancakes didn't stand out to me - less scallion than I'd prefer, oily as normal, cut into a mix of rectangular strips and the more common triangles. I did like that they were accompanied by a nicely vinegar-y sauce. I did enjoy the rice cakes with vegetables, especially because it's been a long time since I've had this dish! I do wish there were a few more vegetables, and it lacked leafy greens like bok choy. The braised tofu was pretty light on flavor, as is to be expected, and was paired with pretty much only mushrooms/root vegetables, rather than any greens. I didn't have high expectations for the egg fried rice since that's always such a basic dish, and I would definitely recommend picking a different fried rice dish. Rating: 3.5 stars

If I could rate this place a 6 I would. AMAZING food and even more amazing service (the water cup never goes less than half full). Got tons of food to share with my friends - soup dumplings, spicy beef roll (recommended to get spicy), Kung Pao chicken, pork and bean curd, Szechuan fried fish -- and end the meal with some sweet orange slices! Cannot wait for next time I come back and order the rest of the menu! :D

Walked in and was brought right to the table and given water, but the server came right over and was somewhat pushy about putting in our order. We ordered sodas and asked for a minute, and not much after the server left another server came asking what we wanted. We ordered the beef teriyaki and pork and leek dumplings as an appetizer and the General Gaus Chicken. The teriyaki was pretty standard, the dumplings were flavorless, and the chicken was again pretty standard. The entrees didn't come with anything so we had to order rice on the side. The place is clean, but just feels like you're being watched because the staff just stands around the room waiting to take your dishes. Honestly just an uncomfortable dining experience with standard food. It was ok to say the least.

I think we found our new go to take out. The food came in normal portions ( yes, lately some place get a little skimpy with what you find in your take out container) , and it was delicious! Trull tasty and not too spice even the dry beef with peanuts. I mean was some spiciness but it did make me cough . I usually don't eat noodles, but this veggie noodles were good , tasted smoky and weren't oily. I loved the peking pork ribs - crispy outside, yet juicy. I really want to try this place for a seat down dinner.

Bright light wonton soup. Gave me nostalgia for a restaurant I used to go to growing up in a strip mall in Maine called Panda Garden. I could eat a large soup and feel satisfied but weighed down. Pleasantly surprised. Will be my go to warm weather wonton soup

Stopped by Dumpling Xuan for dinner and overall had a good experience. We ordered the veggie dumplings, General Gau's tofu, dry cauliflower, and Singapore rice noodles with vegetables. Everything came out quickly and service was friendly and helpful in ordering. The General Gau's tofu was my favorite--crispy, saucy, and exactly what I was hoping for. The veggie dumplings and noodles were solid, though the flavor profile overall wasn't quite my usual favorite. The dry cauliflower was fine, but had a cinnamon-y note that didn't totally work for me. That said, there's a decent variety of vegetarian and eggless options, and the space was quiet but not empty--nice for a relaxed meal. I'd give it a 3.5 if I could, but rounding up for the quick service and solid portions.

Came on a weeknight and restaurant is half full. Server came quickly with water and menus. We originally had in mind what we want to eat but after looking at what the table next to us got, changed our mind. Server was attentive and checked if we were ready to order twice. After ordering, food came out fairly quickly. Dan Dan noodles tasted great but noodle was a little soft. The scallion beef pancake was a bit different than what expected, it was wrapped in stir fried beef w long horn peppers instead of sliced marinated beef shank. It tasted good nonetheless! General Tsaos chicken was on the sweeter side and boiling fish was okay. Overall good experience with Americanized Chinese taste.

Great spot for Chinese food in the Cambridge area. Seems like a staple local spot for people. Was pretty packed on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered the scallion pancake beef roll with spicy peppers. This was so good! Super crispy with good amount of beef inside. Not super spicy. Also shared the steam shrimp dumplings which were as expected. Would come back to try more things!

Service was great, they were constantly coming back with water (much appreciated) and food was pretty decent. The miso soup is phenomenal, so much flavor, tofu and seaweed! The steamed pork dumplings were good and had lots of flavor but they were HOT. The spicy crispy beef was decent but wasn't spicy at all (besides the peanuts) and it was pretty dry unfortunately. There was also a dead crab in the seafood tank which was unfortunate to see.

Wow! Who knew I would discover one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in a random part of town! Came here on a Sunday around noonish with a friend. We read good things about their soup dumplings and decided to give it a try. We were immediately seated and the staff were very friendly. We tried the pork and crab soup dumplings- so incredibly juicy with a nice savory broth. The string beans were super garlicky with a nice kick. The shanghai buns were surprisingly fluffy with a decent amount of pork. The rice cakes were chewy with flavorful pieces of beef. My friend also tried their original milk tea boba- she wished it was sweetened but I personally liked that you could taste the tea flavor strongly. The restaurant itself was super clean (and so were the bathrooms) and I liked that it was a casual place to get a quiet lunch. Also shout out to our waitress- super fast and amazing service!! She was constantly refilling our water, and despite there being qr codes on each table to order, she took everyone's order by hand and kept checking on us. When we asked for a box to take our leftovers home, she also took all our food away and boxed it up herself! Overall super super pleased to find a great restaurant so close to the green line- I will definitely be back! If you are looking for a casual place with solid chinese food, you definitely need to stop by!

We came at 11:30 on a weekend and it was pretty empty. So the food came very quick! Nice space with big wooden tables and classic casual Chinese restaurant vibes We got the rice cakes w veggies and pan fried dumplings I was craving rice cakes and these rly hit the spot! They were cooked to perfect soft chewy texture and the umami savory flavors were just right. I couldn't stop eating them even tho I was full The pan fried buns were enjoyable too! Not noticeably better or worse than other good places I've had. But the soup was good and the bottoms were decently crisp! Both were not too expensive and for big portion Would come back!

Food is well above average for a Chinese restaurant. Service is solid. Enough street parking in the area. I'll go again.

Unless you wanna wait an hour or so, it's best to arrive 30min before they open to beat the rush. It's incredibly cramped and rushed inside, and you may need to share a table with others if you're a smaller party. Food is quite pricey but well worth it. We ordered the oysters (they've got a variety so you can choose), clam chowder, lobster roll, cioppino, and johnnycake. Oysters were fine, but the clam chowder was absolutely dismal. Not sure what happened, especially since it's so highly rated, but it was extremely watery and almost completely unseasoned. It could've definitely used salt at the very least. If I didn't know it was from Neptune, I'd have given it a 2/10. To my relief, the lobster roll was the total opposite. Succulent, juicy, heavenly. It was like being in Maine. The cioppino was also very good. The Johnnycake was an interesting but fun way to end the meal. It's a sweet pancake-like cornmeal covered in a syrupy glaze and topped with smoked bluefish paste, crème fraiche and caviar. I've never had anything like it. Nothing was super overpriced, but I personally prefer next door (Paulini's), which is much cheaper and while it isn't as good, it also doesn't require waiting in an hour in line. However, I think Neptune's is definitely worth a try as long as you're willing to wait in line.

FOOD: We went all in and ordered family-style, almost tapas style, sharing everything across the table. Squid ink pasta, black pasta, fried calamari, grilled octopus, dish after dish hitting the table. Everything was delicious, but what really stood out was the sauce. The broths, the richness, the depth of flavor, that is what stayed with me. I found myself talking about it mid-meal, and I was not the only one. At one point, people were practically trying to drink the sauce straight from the plate. That is when you know it is hitting on another level. You know you're doing a good job when you put much thought down to how you make your sauces and broths. I was impressed from both a top down and bottom up level of culinary experience.
