I been going to Du's grill for the past 2 1/2 years and hands down I've never enjoyed any other teriyaki besides Du's. The line at the restaurant are usually so packed, but the food doesn't take much time to be prepared thanks to all the wonderful cooks. There isn't much to choose from the menu, so I usually stick to the chicken teriyaki w/ rice. The customer service there is also out of this world. Overall, if you're an Oregonian OR a tourist who love chicken teriyaki, don't look past this restaurant! I love this place, normally great service and great food. However with all this covid stuff people are freaking out. I was out doing errands that didn't require me to get out of the car, and on my way back I was like you know what my fat ass needs for dinner? Some tasty DU's. So I called them up as I was leaving lake O. After I hung up I realized damn I didn't have my mask. So I get there and I'm waiting still waiting, reading all their signs about their Covid protocol. No where did I see a mask was required to enter the store. Keep 6 feet and one person allowed at a time. Had I seen a sign that said masks were a requirement I would have ran home real fast, as I don't mind wearing them. But the dude behind the counter refused to give me my food because I didn't have a mask on, even though there was no signage about it being a requirement. So DU's is going to be a don't. Okay I get the appeal, fast, lots of food, decent quality and cheap. But I am willing to have less volume or higher cost to have better quality. As long as you know what you are looking for and you are happy with the lower quality part that's great check out Du's. I think that Ohana Hawaiian Cafe has better teriyaki chicken and it's nearby and still a pretty low price. I don't need to go back and it's also crazy they aren't open on the weekends. read more

Man... Du's could be better. Sometimes it is better - I've definitely had a few good meals here. But sometimes it's not so good. And here's the thing, when it's not so good: the rice is mushy, the noodles are dry, the veggies are big chunks and undercooked, the sauce is thin and settles at the bottom, the meat is dry, and everything overall is salty. This last time, for instance, I got some yakisoba that came with a quarter of an onion, basically raw, hanging out in the watery sauce along with some pieces of beef that were closer to jerky than barbecue. I've definitely had better bento. I really hate to say it, but just up the street, you can get a giant pile of meat, rice, veggies, and noodles, at Ohana... their teriyaki is good, but more importantly to me, it's *consistently* good. Du's... is kind of a gamble. It's fast, it's convenient... but unreliable. Which is disappointing. read more

Just the smell of chicken cooking as you walk towards this place is worth it. The chicken is just as tasty as it smells, even a little better even, since well, its going in your belly. The price is amazing and the portions are huge. I always eat as much as I can and still have more than enough left over for another meal. The chicken plate is 8.95 and that comes with a huge mound of rice, a generous portion of salad (that has amazing salad dressing) and a heaping pile of charred chicken. I can only review the chicken teriyaki brought to me at work from Du's but it was really good. The rice was really good and the chicken was seasoned and cooked excellently. I use to come to this place often for lunch and always get the chicken teriyaki. Nicely grilled chicken and plenty of it. I've scaled back my visits the last year or so due to price increases and declining quality. I think today sealed their fate with me. The chicken was extremely dry and looked like it was boiled in water then grilled to order for marks and grilled flavor. They've built a solid customer base over the years by offering delicious food. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! Been wanting to try this place for years as I always pass by it. DO NOT let the long line fool you. I've had a lot of teriyaki in my life and have grown up in the teriyaki world with my aunts and uncles owning teriyaki restaurants. I ordered the chicken/beef combo. The only edible portion was the lettuce salad. I got three small pieces of chicken and it was dried out and had no sauce or flavor. It was very burnt and inedible. The beef was extremely salty with no flavor and had the texture of jerky. They leave the meat on the grill for too long. I understand you want your meat hot but it needs to be fresh. They make a very large quantity and leave it on the grill, drying out all the meat from the high heat. Very disappointed with the quality and quantity of my meal. Portland has great Hawaiian style teriyaki joints and Korean style teriyaki joints, unfortunately this is not one of those places. read more

Stopped here for a quick lunch with my man. We had the chicken teriyaki and pork yakisoba. Both were solid three star dishes. There's a surprisingly large dining area for what it looks like from the outside. The only downer was having to wash my hands at a business nearby (yes, I always wash my hands before I eat), but they did have complimentary hand sanitizer at the counter. Given that we went during lunchtime, I appreciated that we got our food rather quickly. The gentleman working the front counter was very polite, especially for how busy he was. He alone was answering the phone, ringing up orders (dine in AND take out), as well as serving entrees to those in the dining area. My husband first brought me home a Beef Teriyaki almost 2 years ago and I've been a customer ever since. It's the best Beef Teriyaki I've ever had. I normally take everything to go since the place is very small and it's usually packed during lunch time. They cook your food as you order and it doesn't take that long, probably at least 10-15minutes. I also love the vegetable salad that comes with it.
