To be honest I was just not impressed with the quality of the food. I ordered the crab cake dinner as people have just raved about them. I felt like the crab cake lacked flavor but the sauce to go with it was way over powering. It came carrots, Brussels sprouts and corn as the veggi all of which could of been cooked more. It also came with a ravioli which had hard chunks in it?? I did have a couple bites of pasta which was too die for. However my friend ordered another type of pasta and was disappointed. I think for this quality and price of a place, the food should of been better. Now don't let me steer you wrong, the service is what you pay for. They were on top of it and full of suggestions for both wine and food. Will I be back? No mostly not, but I do think it a fun spot to check out at least once. read more

When I pulled in to the parking lot at Dwight's Bistro I was amazed by how many other cars were arriving at the same time. Despite being adjacent to Cinnotti's, Dwight's had not been on my radar. But, other folks clearly knew about this place. We had a mid evening reservation and we were seated immediately upon our arrival. The place was dark inside but lively and the interior had mosaic art on the walls in the dining area. The menu is rather eclectic with seafood, pasta dishes, and more classic French cuisine. The prices rival any upscale restaurant in the city with most entrees running around $40. I ordered the mixed grill which included a little sample of the menu - quail, sea bass, lamb chop, and beef tenderloin. We started with the crab cakes and escargot. As soon as we took a bite of the escargot, we looked at each other with surprise at the lack of seasoning. Although it was sitting in garlic butter, the dish was bland. We asked for salt and pepper to season it some. The crab cakes were indeed full of crab but they were slightly dry and they lacked seasoning as well. Each entree here arrives with vegetables, which were absolutely delicious, and a single ravioli, which seemed like a very odd offering with the meal. The ravioli wasn't a highlight for me as the red sauce was too liquidy and it had a strange taste to it. The mixed grill started off really well. The fish was superbly cooked and seasoned and the lamb chop was delicious. Unfortunately as I was about to cut in to the beef, I noticed a long strand of blonde hair wrapped around it. I lost my appetite. Our server was great and they comped my entree but I doubt I'll be back to try this place again any time soon. read more

One of my favorite places to dine in Jacksonville! The meal started with fresh baked crusty bread & escargot. The 2nd course was a crisp chopped salad with blue cheese & bacon. Then I devoured the bone in pork chop as my 3rd course. It was one of the best I've ever had! Bravo chef. We also enjoyed the scallops casino, veal piccata, & angel hair with scallops. Came here last night for my wife's birthday. It was a good but not great experience. First off, we were greeted at the door and we waited around for an inordinate amount of time while they got our table setup. It was sorta awkward waiting in the tiny entrance for a few minutes while they got situated. We were seated and given water but we waited probably close to 10 minutes for our server who was super friendly and helpful. Again, just awkward waiting that long. The dining area was cramped too. Now, maybe I'm just used to eating in socially distanced areas, but I could hear the other diner's conversations and it was just not as intimate as I'd have preferred. The food however was delicious! I had the filet, my wife had the duck and she loved it. I found it funny that give you one ravioli with every entree. It's not bad, it actually quite delicious just an odd accompaniment. I had a spinach salad and she had a Caesar. Both were solid. I loved the lemon vinaigrette on my salad. Service was good, they were friendly and promptly removed plates. Dessert was creme brûlée and limoncello cheesecake. Again, very good. The meal was nice, we loved the food. But the service felt rushed and a little frazzled. read more

For entree I got the cabonara, my friend got the scallops and her husband and his mother both got the pork chop Milanese. You'd never find this place by mistake but Dwight has been delighting the food scene in Jacksonville Beach for 20+ years. The service staff is ultra professional, helpful, fun and attentive. Dwight is always in the kitchen serving up some of his signature entrees - the crab cakes are renowned and amazing and even people from Maryland rave about them. Finally made a reservation to try Dwight's Bistro. I know this establishment has been around for a while; and I understand why. They may not have the most extensive menu, nor the most exotic, but what do offer is pretty solidly executed. The decor and ambience is eclectic and intimate. They have unique mosaic walls with wine cork ceilings. The lighting is bright enough for you to appreciate what's laid out in front of you, yet dim enough to create that date night feel. Their staff is welcoming and very attentive. Hubby and I started off with their fresh mozzarella for our appetizer. The mozz was delicate and offered a nice accompaniment to their beefy tomatoes and smooth olive oil. Then we moved on to a palm salad that was refreshing and well-balanced. For our entrees, we shared a fettuccine carbonara and their bone-in pork chop special. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the sauce was creamy. I felt as if they may have skimped a little on their bacon, but the pieces that I did have were delicious. The bone-in pork chop hearty, but a touch salty for my taste. It came with only two spears of asparagus (a little skimpy if you asked me), and half a cob of corn. I would have appreciated the corn better if they had actually separated the kernels away from the cob as it was difficult to eat with a fork and knife. To finish off the meal, we ordered their chocolate pecan torte. This was super decadent, and just the right amount of sweetness for you to enjoy the chocolate. Overall, our experience was great. I definitely understand why so many locals say their go-to place for a nice meal is Dwight's. The prices are a touch on the high side, in my opinion, but not to the point that it would deter me from returning. Dwights has been on my radar for a long time thanks to yelp and a coworker's recommendation. There needs to be more cute niche restaurants like this in Jax! Dwights is very unassuming from the outside, sharing a plaza with Cinotti's bakery. But once you step inside it's a romantic beautiful serene restaurant with professional staff and fresh delicious food. The menu is small (and heads up it's only beer & wine and they don't have any chicken dishes) so I recommend checking out the menu ahead of time. The wine flows easy here, and I was told they have decent HH specials. Their table bread was EXCELLENT- bread in Jax is pretty terrible in my mind (coming from the land of Bostonian Italians lol). Warm soft doughy delicious bread with dipping oil & a large glass of wine is exactly how I love to start a meal. If you read my reviews you know I like to try a lot of different meals when I go out to eat. Imagine my delight when the waittress informed us we could do half orders of entrees and that it was a reasonable price & adequate portion! Can't decide? Order 2 half meals. I indulged on scallops & fettuccini alfredo. Scallops were excellent- decent size cooked & seasoned perfectly. Fettuccini alfredo was absolutely delicious- I was thrilled to have a little leftover. My gal pals treated me to a slice of chocolate mousse cake which was so chocolatey & tasty- even my friends who were dieting enjoyed a bite! I will say if you are in a rush this place isnt for you. We've been passing Dwight's for quite some time before we decided to go in and we're glad we did. We had a nice dinner with a quiet and romantic ambiance. We could feel through their customer service that things have been running like a well oiled machine - which one could expect after being open for 25 years. The food was good but price could be optimized for what you get. We learned a lot during our dinner (1) Dwight still cooks and alongside his son who works at the restaurant (2) The decor caught our eye so we chatted it up with the server, who has been with the restaurant since it's inception, he shared that they decorated the ceiling with corks from wine bottles served in the restaurant and used leftover tile from pool industry friends (3) The bartender makes the hot sauce - it's pretty good. It's such a little gem in a busy area. Again, price could be modified to match the service or experience could be elevated to match the fine dining prices. read more

Dwight's Bistro is a hidden gem in Jacksonville Beach. I believe this restaurant has been around for quite some time (+10 years), and the restaurant is owned and operated by the chef. Dwight's Bistro shares its parking with a few other businesses in the strip. It doesn't look so pleasant from the outside but do not be fooled. The design inside is crafted with beautiful mosaic tile walls throughout, giving a homey and romantic atmosphere. The interior is well kept. Definitely great for dates and girls night out for wine. FOOD: There is complimentary bread served, but I did not try it. Chopped Salad (4/5, Lettuce, Tomato, Carrots, Hearts of Palm, Bacon, Bleu Cheese, Red Cabbage, Fried Onions & Homemade Buttermilk Ranch): In a mood for a salad, the chopped salad was very good for the first course. The ranch dressing was just perfect in taste and serving as well. Everything balanced out nicely. Fresh Mozzarella (3/5, Vine Ripe Tomatoes, Extra Virgin Olive Oil): This was probably my least liked dish of the evening. There were about 6 ripe tomatoes with mozzarella but didn't really do much for me. I ate two and was craving/hoping for some balsamic reduction to be incorporated. My friend was enjoying this that he finished the plate. Crab Cakes (5/5): Best thing from this restaurant. Dwight's Bistro is known for its crab cakes, and I can taste why! It is probably the second best crab cake I have tried to this day. Lots of tender crab meat with minimal filler. You can order crab cakes individually, instead of directly ordering off the appetizer or course menu. Tiramisu (3/5): I wasn't too thrilled with the tiramisu. It's more on the larger side but was not impressed. Just A-OK. Our waiter was amiable and was around often. He was very knowledgeable and knew about the restaurant's history, for he has been there intermittently for about 10 years if I recall correctly. I do have to mention that the water here tasted very peculiar. We had to send it back twice before we decided to order Pellegrino. I even saw them pour water from a half gallon water bottle for our second time.. not sure what the problem was. This restaurant allows you to bring your own wine, but you will be charged only with the corking fee. I believe there are coupons on Group On, especially for those not sure about the restaurant. We've been in Jax 10 years and still haven't tried Dwight's. We decided to go for our 5 year wedding anniversary and had the most amazing experience. Everything was so delicious, the service incredible, warm and fun atmosphere. The crab cakes are spectacular and loved the add of their house-made mango habanero hot sauce! I got the pork chops on special and my wife did a surf and turf. All-in-all it was one of the top dining experiences we've had living in Jacksonville and will surely be back. read more

We were looking for a small intimate restaurant to celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary and a friend suggested Dwight's Bistro. We have lived here a little over 4 years but somehow we had never heard of Dwight's. What a treat it was! It was everything we wanted...Fine dining, Mediterranean cuisine with the most attentive servers we have had out at the Jacksonville Beach area. Can i just say that the interior is decorated so artsy...all the walls are covered in mosaics that Dwight created and there are wine corks accenting the ceiling. This restaurant is off the main beach strip so I felt like we were in a hidden gem. It was so nice to actually go out to dinner and not have to talk above a crowd or over loud music. Now onto our meal. It was delicious. We started with an excellent bottle of Chardonnay that our server suggested and it paired perfectly with our entire meal. The server brought us a basket of house made warm bread with balsamic and an excellent olive oil and we ordered escargot. They came out piping hot in a very fragrant butter and garlic sauce. My husband selected the Cesar salad and I had the hearts of palm salad. I'm going to say that the dressing on my salad was one of the best homemade dressings I've ever had, it was rich and creamy. For our main course we both ordered a mixed plate. My husband ordered the crab cake and the sea bass and I ordered a crab cake with sea scallops. We were beyond impressed with everything. We are usually very hard to please when it comes to crab cakes because we grew up near the Chesapeake Bay but these did not disappoint. They were excellent with very little filler. Oh and I forgot, our meal was served with a side of homemade ravioli stuffed with 4 cheeses in a house marinara sauce. We were told that Dwight made the pasta and the filling that morning!!! We were so full that we did not order dessert but did order decaf cappuccinos and when they served our drinks our server surprised us with 2 little cup cakes and a sparkler and wished us a very happy anniversary. We will definitely be going back to Dwight's and can't wait to take our family and friends. I would highly recommend Dwight's Bistro if you are looking for a fine dining experience. read more

Wow one of the best meals I've had in the while. I just moved to the area and my coworker who lives here took me out. He praised Dwights and boy did it live up to the hype. Seriously the best lamb chops I've ever had. We got crab cakes and seared tuna to start, Palm salad and scallops/ lamb chop mixed grill. Apps were amazing, salad had incredible garlicy dressing, and all the seafood was cooked to perfection. The pistachio ravioli on the side was also an incredible touch. Food came out so fast even though my bf and I were later to join and they were packed. The scallops were the best I've ever had. The filet mignon was everything you could want. Tender and PERFECTLY cooked. The servers were polite and attentive. Some of the people in our party were regulars and you could see the friendly relationship (making ME wish I were a regular). Crab cakes and pasta dishes (small $12 serving is ample) are my favorite. Fresh tomato sauce tasted like a bite of a fresh tomato but better. More expensive $40 entrees (I.e., crispy duck) are beautifully presented and gourmet. Try not to fill up on fresh bread and olive oil served before the meal.
