1.5/2 It's my first time getting so upset about customer service. Pros: - The stars are all for the taste. skewers tastes good. Food are good. Except sliced potato which is way too thick, almost half an inch (1.5cm). Hawaiian chicken skewer is too dry. Vermicelli with clam taste plain like cup noodle soup. Otherwise everything was good. Cons: - LONG WAITING. I understand this is a new spot and waiting could be long. After we were seated and placed the order, it took 45 mins to serve the first skewer. Meanwhile nothing to eat except water and soft drinks - SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. I complained about waiting for too long after 40mins. The two unfriendly waitresses were very unhappy and kept "educating" me that this is a skewer place, it takes time to cook unlike a fast food drive thru. Like I haven't been a skewer place before? OKAY. Finally food was served after 45mins waiting. Then the waitress said "now the food is coming,. Do you still think we serve very slow? Are you happy now?" We are a group of 5 people, but they charged 18% tips mandatory without any notices ahead. It's not stated in the menu anywhere. I can't believe I'm FORCED to pay for this kind of service. TO THE OWNER OF THIS PLACE: please do proper training to your staff before having them to serve. Hope other customers won't experience the same. Won't come back again for a while. read more

Sorry we don't have nice pictures to share because we were too busy eating. The beef soup is a bit salty to my taste but my hubby thinks it's just fine to him. All the skewers we ordered taste good, not too oily or too spicy which is the way we like it. Will return again. read more

Wow I haven't written a review for anything in a while, but I needed to for this place! I'm surprised there aren't more reviews yet, but I think they are relatively new. We did have to wait a while even though we got here at 8pm on a Sunday, and the chairs are pretty uncomfortable. Otherwise, I loved everything else about the restaurant! There was great ambience, smelled amazing, a LIVE guzhen player, and reasonably priced food. The service was quite good and food arrived quickly after ordering. We ordered a ton of skewers, the mixed cold tripe, cold noodles, duck blood, cucumber salad, potato salad, baked scallop with vermicelli noodle, and the plum wine. Everything was delicious with the exception of the tripe being a bit too tough to chew. Overall great experience. Please give this place a try! read more

The service here was like "fast food , just eat and go." The food was cold and they didn't care at all. I asked for water and it took forever to get it. And told me only order once bc repeating order won't be on time for us to eat. On top of that, the guy wasn't satisfied with my tip at the end because I didn't like his service, and he actually told me, "Why do you come to dine in if you don't tip at least 18%?" I was shocked ! so rude and unprofessional. Honestly I should have tipped him $0. Do not come to this place, guys. Food was salty and nasty and cold! Don't care about their costumers. read more

Do not come to this place. Terrible experience here. The server was rude and actually told us not to order too much. Nobody checked on our table, and when I didn't tip much because of the bad service, he confronted me at the door and said next time I shouldn't come to eat, only order takeout. The food was salty and gross on top of everything. This place is unprofessional and I'll never come back. read more

Very cool restaurant that serves skewers and other Chinese dishes. The interior is beautiful, and they even have live music! The flavor of the skewers were on point, and they even have a warming tray at your table to make sure the food is consistently hot throughout your meal. The skewers were on the pricier side, but you can tell it's quality meat. Will be coming back to try more of their menu! read more

Upon entering the restaurant, it was very pretty inside. The decor and interior were really cool. To order food, you place orders on your phone and a server will promptly bring your skewers/food to the table. Don't worry if you didn't order enough the first time, you can always order more throughout your dining experience. Our favorites were the lamb, beef, and gizzard skewers. They were so flavorful, tender, and juicy. There was a perfect amount of seasoning on the skewers. The cold noodles were also very good (especially in this summer heat). Beautiful interior. Self ordering scheme with very little server contact other than when they bring your skewers. The skewers are so juicy and flavorful. I would say that it's pretty reasonably priced as long as you're not trying to be AYCE full and just content. read more

Visiting from Los Angeles and know nothing of the area. Found "Destiny" Oyama BBQ on Yelp and decided to take a chance. Wow! This place is awesome. Had the spicy rice noodle soup, naan, eggplant & lamb, beef, eggs, sausage skewers. Everything was great. Soup not too spicy- just right. Kind & friendly wait staff. Like the Chinese culture decor. We really enjoyed the food, lamb skewers were delicious! I also recommend the peach wine. The atmosphere is very cozy, with a guzheng being played in the back of the restaurant for extra ambiance. We came here on a Saturday night and we were seated right away. We ordered 18 dishes of skewers. From beef to chicken to veggies, everything was so delicious. The meat was super flavorful and juicy, not as dry as other places. The food came out super quick as well. They also have other dishes that are not skewers. Will definitely try it next time. Oh my word, the sauce and cheese all go so well with the bbq. I like how their sauce has a kick to it and isn't overly sweet. The brisket was really tender and smoked well. I personally enjoy fattier pieces of brisket but I bet if I would've asked for those cuts he might've accommodated. The smoked potatoes salad is almost a must. Very unique style of potato salad and pairs well with everything. We noticed they also do catering, and the prices for that also look very reasonable. Would definitely considering using them for our next party!

Only skippable thing was the a-choy. The flavors weren't too spicy and they have a lot of drink options. Service was relatively quick but sometimes confusing in the order that it comes out. We ordered everything at the same time but the chives came out first and the a-choy came out last? Plenty of parking in the plaza; friendly (enough) service. It's a plus if you know Mandarin lol. Total was about $60 after tax and tip. We'll definitely be back!

The Ugly: * Parking might be difficult as they do have a small private lot (±15 spots) and there is street parking available, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it. FWIW, we did arrive for a slightly later lunch (±12:30) on a Saturday and had no issue parking in the lot. Conclusion: Capelo's might be the best Q in the Bay Area that I've tried to date. I absolutely love the decor of this restaurant. While the name sounds a bit of a fusion between Japanese and Chinese, the entrance features prominent Chinese characters. Wow, 5 stars for sure! We came in a group of 9 after having made a reservation over the phone and I can't emphasize enough the kind service and warm atmosphere in this restaurant. First, the staff who answered the phone were incredibly helpful in noting down an allergy and in accommodating our flexible party size and time until they were finalized. When we arrived, we were able to speak to the staff who reassured us separate grills could be used for allergy safety and they double checked specific ingredients with the kitchen. Just note that speaking some Chinese is beneficial (not necessary as most of the staff do speak English but Chinese is definitely more effective). As for the food, the skewers were all delicious. Our group really liked the Hawaiian chicken skewers with pineapple (chicken was so tender!), the enoki mushrooms, and the bread (slightly sweet)! P.S. We were celebrating two birthdays and the shop had cute little goody bags to gift them! Super cute! Definitely coming back! read more

Terrible experience. I placed a pickup order through my phone using the QR code on the table and paid right away. When I came to pick it up, they couldn't find my order. Later, they realized they had mistakenly served my takeout to a dine-in customer. What's even more frustrating is that the word "TAKEOUT" was clearly printed on the left side of the receipt -- and they still missed it. Then they turned around and blamed me. A waitress named Becky kept scolding me, saying it was my fault for ordering that way, even though I clearly selected pickup. She retrieved the untouched food from the customer's table and packed it for me -- which is completely unacceptable. On top of that, some items were missing, and she refused to remake them or refund me. Instead, she kept arguing and blaming me. I left without half my food and feeling totally disrespected.
