However, we did drive 30 minutes to support this place because we thought it was halal/ Muslim owned. Tell me why my 3 year old son had pork the first time here on accident? It's so bizarre to have pork on the menu. We could all live without it, and it's really disappointing. Overall, The service was excellent. Sarai was extra friendly and we loved her vibe. Rating: 3.8 I've been wanting to check out this place for a while as it's close to where I reside. We came on Sunday at around 1 and it was about a 30 minute wait to be seated. We were able to put our name on the waitlist and received a call when our table was ready. The restaurant has plenty of table and booth seating, and decorated very nicely. I ordered a hot coffee, steak & eggs, and a side of bacon. My partner ordered the Birdie Waffle with a side of oatmeal. I was super excited for my meal to come out.... Only thing is, we ended up waiting at least 45 minutes for our food to come out and our waitress came to check on us like once during that wait. I'm not sure if this is their normal wait time, but honestly it also wasn't like there was a full house of customers so I'm a little disappointed we had to wait so long for our food to come out after ordering. When the food did come out though, it honestly was delicious. The steak and eggs were 4/5 - loved the potato hash. Bacon came out extra crispy, just how I ordered it. My partner would rate the Birdie waffle 3.5/5. He loved the chicken tenders and honey mustard dipping sauce that came with it, but did not enjoy the waffle and felt it was too dry. He loved the side of oatmeal and gives that 5/5 rating. We also tried the strawberry lemonade which was also delicious and refreshing 5/5. Overall, pricing here is decent and food was really good. Opportunities for improvement would be food delivery time and service... at one point we were looking for our waitress for awhile and had to end up asking another server to help us get some condiments and more creamer for my coffee. You will make a reservation for 11:30 and they will make you wait two hours to be seated. What is the point of the reservation? They have no respect for peoples time. We came for Mother's Day and had plans for after we ate. Our Mother's Day plans were ruined because we weren't seated until two hours after our reservation so we couldn't do our planned activity after. It's not like we could improvise and go elsewhere since every restaurant is fully reserved for Mother's Day brunch. It was pretty frustrating. Good food but horrible system. This place has only been open for a few months, and I'm pretty impressed. It is on the newer side of Richmond off Harlem Road and Grand Mission Blvd. Great location for the growing area, located on a corner, with plenty of parking. When you step inside, you'll be pleased by the modern yet, welcoming decor. The Early Bird cafe is very clean and and the customer service was GREAT. Enrique was our server, and he was so kind. Usually, newer places tent to be a little rocky but whomever trained this staff did a wonderful job. Everyone is very accommodating, and informed about the menu. I visited Early Bird Café today with a party of three adults and one toddler. We arrived at 10:20 AM and didn't leave until 12:30 PM -- over two hours for a simple breakfast. The service was extremely slow and our waitress rarely checked on us. We asked for coffee refills while waiting for our food and still waited more than 40 minutes before anything came out. The pricing was also disappointing. The kids' bacon and eggs plate is listed at $7.99, but we were charged extra just to have the eggs scrambled. After the added charges, it came out to nearly $10 for a very basic toddler meal. The rest of the food was also overpriced, lacked flavor, and did not match the "hype." The presentation looks nice, but the taste simply wasn't there. On top of that, the parking situation is frustrating. The restaurant advertises free valet, but the valet staff blocks parked cars in and makes it nearly impossible to self-park. For the overall experience -- slow service, bland food, incorrect charges, and chaotic parking -- the $90 total was very disappointing. I really wanted to like this place, but I wouldn't recommend it and will not be returning. read more

***Still thinking about this meal*** We went to Early Bird today and I can honestly say it's the best halal brunch I've ever had -- and I've tried dozens of places across the country. We had the huevos rancheros birria tacos, and I swear it felt like something straight out of Mexico -- super authentic, super flavorful, and halal! The brisket breakfast burrito was packed and perfectly seasoned, and the chicken and waffles were next-level good -- crispy, juicy, and just hit the spot. Oh, and the pancakes? Like soft clouds. Fluffy, buttery, just ridiculously good. And the prices?? Way more affordable than anything I've seen for this level of quality. The host warned us when we entered that they were short staffed, but we weren't in a rush so we decided to stay. Needless to say it took a very long time to be served. I thought that maybe it wouldn't be as long since there weren't that many other customers at the time, but it was super long. The food itself took a very long time as well to be prepared. We were just about to leave when it finally came out. However, for all the waiting that we did, the food was just not up to par. We should have left and went elsewhere. Pretty but not tasty. Food was pretty but bland. The service was slow but respectful and approachable. Ambiance was very warm and inviting like a modern diner feel. The cafe was clean but the staff uniform wasn't. They need aprons as they bus the tables as well as serve. We went during the late morning on a Monday so the front of house has limited staff and no dedicated greater/hostess. Our server had maybe 2 other tables who had already been served and were dining. It took 10-15 minutes for water but our drinks were brought out with them minutes before our food was served despite being ordered before. The menu seemed interesting and had both traditional breakfast dishes and healthy options. I chose the veggie delight. Potato hash with cheese onions, peppers, tomato and zucchini with an egg to order. It was unfortunately bland and required excessive amounts of hot sauce to be flavorful. As we waited I noted waitstaff cleaning a table awkwardly without a bussing tray and sticking their hands in the used dishes. Granted upon reaching the back they may have washed their hands but that seemed unsanitary for the server and for diners imho. The waiter serving us was polite and served out food with follow up questions and then just stood at the bar area looking somewhat bored. I also took some issue with how flatware is provided. The flatware and napkins are provided upon seating in a holder for condiments with napkins in one side and flatware in the other. It looks lazy and I would think having them rolled is a better presentation and more sanitary as only the person who rolled would have touched them. The waiter didn't come back after we finished the meal but fortunately another member of staff provided the check. This place seems style over substance but hopefully that will improve. read more

Second time at this new breakfast location. All the dishes I've tasted have been really really good. Several negative reviews were when they initially opened. I highly suggest you come now & give them a try after they have been working through the challenges of startup. 1st visit, within 2 weeks of opening, service was a bit slow, but food was good. Yesterday, food came out surprisingly fast on a Saturday morning. It is rare I get pancakes with toppings because they are usually too sweet for me but thought I'd try the Banana Beak Pancake, carmel sauce on side. The carmel sauce tasted home made & was just right-- not too sweet, not too rich and paired so well with the bananas & candied pecans. Not sure how much they drizzle when you order it as-is but I was able to manage the amount of carmel & no syrup was needed. Pancake order is 2 big pancakes. Crab cake Benedict order is also 2, so hubby & I ordered one each and created our own combo platter. Crab cake had real crab meat. Just a tab bit more bready than I prefer. If anyone is lactose intolerant, the hollandaise sauce does not have cream! Sausage patties are homemade & well seasoned. OJ is freshly squeezed. Came Saturday at 11am. The restaurant is so open and decor is simple but beautiful inside. The booths are nice and clean. The restaurant was at 40-50% capacity but we still (party of 2) had to wait 10 minutes. We sat down and was immediately greeted by the waitress. We ordered drinks -- house coffee and my daughter had the Arnold Palmer. (There's no mimosas served there. ) The drinks were served within minutes and we ordered-- I ordered the seaside (crab cake Benedict with potato hash , bits of green). My daughter got the kids waffle with chocolate chip and a side of beef bacon. Food came out fast. About 10 minutes. We ate it all. Everything was perfect. The hollandsise sauce was slightly lemony. There were many people already inside at the time, so maybe thats why it took around 10 minutes for the waitress to come to our table to just get our drink order started. But other than that, it had a great ambience, the food was aesthetically pleasing, our waitress also was able to mix two lattes to make mine! I went on a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was slightly busy, however there was not a wait. Intrigued by the picture on the website, I ordered the Seaside Song Benedict. The wait for the order was longer than expected. The side of hashbrowns was amazing however, the Benedict didn't quite meet my expectations. Instead of a crab cake on an English muffin with a poached egg, it was a fried crab cake (made with real crab) topped with a poached egg. Overall, I would say the service was a 4/5. If you like traditional bacon you will not find it here. They have beef bacon and maple. I ordered the pork patties and the taste was not traditional. They have turkey and chicken sausage. The food is SO good! I went in just hoping for a good chicken and waffle, but I got the best chicken and waffle meal I've had in a long time! We had their bananaa foster French toast which was to die for, as well as the early bird burger which was delicious! This place has a modern feel and well laid out. I stopped by for breakfast Sunday at 830, less traffic and hoping for great service. Not impressed- hoping within time this place improves its service and food. Convenient location but I wouldn't recommend it to neighbors for another several months. Not impressed with the food. The Potato hash are just fried potato cubes w 1-2 bell peppers with no seasoning or flavor to them. The same went to for the dried up fried hash browns. The entire bfast was just bland and unsavory. I was expecting much more since it's a local business, something that would make it stand out that it would be unique to the area but it's not there yet. This food you can find at home for a cheaper price. The waffle was missing fruit and the mascarpone. I asked a waitress that passed by but she said it was only garnish. Ummm , so I just paid $10 for a plain waffle. I'll swing by in several months. Dear owner , please rethink your menu. Chichi was super sweet and happily brought my friend almond milk AND whipped cream for her coffee! My friend had been here before and the server she had, Faith, came by to say Hi and check on us. UPDATE: after the initial bad experience I had 8 days ago, I decided to give them a second try for 2 reasons: 1, although there were bad reviews about the service, no one mentioned the quality of the food being bad so I wanted to try it myself plus I saw the crab cake had rave reviews. 2, it's so close to my home that I really wanted to like this spot solely based on convenience. I never come back to update reviews, but they deserved for the people to know the food is actually good despite the rocky start with their opening week. I ordered the food to go and was EXTREMELY PLEASED with the accuracy of my orders. The crab cake Benedict, it called something like sea song, was beyond amazing!!!!!!! It's real crab meat, not imitation so I was extremely happy with that and it was delicious. So with the food being good, if the service inside doesn't improve, at least I know I can order to go.
