I can only give it four starts because despite the name there were no cakes! (there was a mini cheesecake and a mini flourless cake but with the name I was expecting a good selection of cakes) Once I got over that though I picked out a turkey and asiago croissant and my son got a cheese danish they were both OUTSTANDING! This bakery was a huge surprise along the cape cod bike trail. Fantastic baked goods. So good we came back with the whole family the next day. The almond croissant amazing. Cranberry cheese and the blueberry danishes so fresh and delicious. The cookies and trail bar are so good I took some to go. Do not miss out on this place if you are anywhere close. I have been camping in Brewster for the last 5 years with my kids and we just found this place. During my two week trip here, we have stopped here almost every day so I can get an iced coffee. We haven't bought something to eat every time we are here, but my kids drool at the site of all of the beautiful baked goods in the display case. My kids favorites have been the Brewster Bun and the Cheese Danish. My favorite is the Passionata ( mind blowingly good). read more

With everyone raving about this bakery, and the owners/staff who do seem earnest and hardworking, I feel a little sheepish leaving a less than glowing review. And, in the context of Cape Cod, where quality European style bakeries are scarce, this place is definitely a welcome addition. The bakery is very clean, modern, and all the pastries look fantastic and enticing. I wish the taste lived up to the appearances more. Oh, things do taste alright but, in my opinion, simply not flavorful enough or memorable enough or satisfying enough. I'm not a baker, so I'm not sure what the missing ingredient is, but I'm a connoisseur of pastries and desserts, and the Eat Cake 4 Breakfast selections, of which we've sampled many, on a couple of occasions, fall short of what high quality expertly done French pastries ought to be. It's the je ne sais quoi deliciousness and complex flavor that they fall short on. Some things are also at times over-baked. The prices are on par with big city prices, so it's all the more disappointing to purchase something that looks promising but proves underwhelming. I sincerely wish this place well, and I hope the accolades are reserved until the flavors are fully finessed and perfected. read more

Frequent Cape visitor and ON CLOUD 9 that a bakery has arrived of this caliber. Not a surprise once I learned the owner/pastry chef studied in France! Madelines - true, delicious Madelines made as they should be. The Valrhona Brownie slayed me. The Pain au Chocolat and Coconut Macaroons keep calling my name. As a bakery should, opens early - 7AM with a smile ! Don't delay getting your afternoon or dinner desserts, closes at 2 and some goodies fly off the shelves early. But I learned she takes special orders! Closed Monday/Tuesday - works for me, I need two days to rev up for more deliciousness from Eat Cake 4 Breakfast (and to pay attention to work and and try to take a break from obsessing about what my next choice will be) Visit. A true bakery, with amazing croissants. Everything is make in house. Some of my favorites are the almond croissant, Brewster bun and the blueberry Danish. They use a really high quality chocolate, so anything with it in it is well just better then any other bakery on cape. The chocolate mousse is to die for and the chocolate chip cookies are the best I have ever had anywhere. Period,they are the winner hand down, no contest on cape. Others are close in NYC and San Francisco but these are the best. Layers of chocolate with perfectly chewy doe and little bit of crunch from god knows what put theme in a league all there own. Live nearby so have decided to walk the 2 miles to offset the calories. I have tried several items and like them all but have decided on the blueberry Danish as it it fresh light and less sweet than other items aside from maybe the plain croissant. Still looking for excuse to spend the money on quiche. A must try.....hope she expands to some interesting breads. read more

Fantastic pastries. Bought a variety to share with family and all were very good. Brewster bun was my favorite. Not much room to sit inside. Coffee was fair. Will definitely visit next time we are on the Cape. read more

Great new bakery! We got the ham and cheese croissants.... Delicious !!! The kids got the chocolate croissants... Very good as well!

The bread pudding was super delicious and fills you up easily! It was large enough to share with multiple people, and was worth he money!

This place is very pricey but like so many bakeries, the stuff looks better than it tastes. The baguette was a full on waste of money and the almond croissant is totally average. A bit soggy but the flavor was good. read more

Cupcakes were "Good". Not a lot of options for being early in the afternoon. I would have thought more selection from a specialty bakers.

The selection is very limited and most pastries are more than $4.00. A mediocre and smallish cheese Danish was $4.25. One other time I bought two items and it was over $9.00. The almond croissant is average in taste but high in price. On the other hand a great looking quiche was $20.00 which seemed very fair for the size and quality. I'll go there occasionally but it won't become my "go to" place. Conveniently located. read more

Love the Brewster Buns, they are to die for! as are the Coconut Macaroons. Panna Cotta with lemon curd and blueberries is also excellent. Everything I have tried so far has been wonderful......but, I just bought a "Brewster Bun" Bread Pudding and discovered that it was not just made from Brewster Buns, It also had chocolate croissants in it. Not everyone wants chocolate in everything. I would have appreciated if the Bread Pudding has indicated that it was more than half chocolate croissants. read more
