Ribs - sticky but tasty 2. Corn - best corn ever? 3. Brussel sprouts - I don't know why but Brussels at restaurants always so much better than you imagine 4. Pork jaw? - maybe the best thing we ate 5. Various rolls - I'm so basic, but they had a few generic rolls that I ate, nothing out of the ordinary 6. We came here to celebrate my friend's birthday and got seated with a few minutes left in happy hour. We were able to grab some happy hour food and drinks. Service was decent, granted one of our orders was missed and another took very long to come out which didn't make sense. Food, delicious!! I've "been" to EBESU twice -- last year in person before COVID, for an anniversary dinner with my fiancé, and later in the year for restaurant week to-go with my roommates. For the anniversary dinner we tried their omakase, which included a generous platter of various sashimi, including japanese horse mackerel that was later fried to a crisp, and a set of delicious nigiri (the uni was so buttery and flavorful). They also included a free dessert for us on the house because it was our anniversary! We had a great time. The restaurant week fare was not quite so good, though the fact that we had to order takeout and didn't want to dine in probably factored into this. The food was a bit lukewarm by the time we were able to dig in, and portion sizes weren't particularly spectacular for the amount that we were paying. The sea bass was alright, but I would recommend coming here for the raw fish more than for the cooked offerings. Maybe once the pandemic is over and we can start eating with more safety in person, I'll try some of the cooked options again! Until then, sushi it is. :) read more

This place was quietly tucked away in my bookmarked places and we finally decided to try it tonight and man so I wish I would've tried it sooner. This was some of the best and freshest sushi/food I ever ate. We tried quite a few things. The kale salad with shrimp toast was probably one of the best. Along with the crunchy eel tempura roll and the ribs!! Definitely get the ribs. They were so flavorful and so tender, they were literally falling off the bone. The service was even better. We walked in on a Friday night with a packed dining room and they were able to seat us within a few minutes. Our server Ryan was extremely attentive, gave great suggestions, and made sure every part of our meal was enjoyable. Will definitely be back to try more menu items. Sat at the bar. Make sure you have reservations if it's Friday through Sunday. The fish is fresh but in my opinion, nothing special. I had high hopes based on the reviews. The sushi chefs were friendly. Our favorite item was the chirashu Don. The cut rolls seemed smaller than other restaurants and not flavorful. Cute spot located on 15th by the railroad tracks. I'm a fan of housemate ponzu with green onions and the ponzu here is more like soy sauce. Lastly, our server was nice but she must have come by every five minutes while we were trying to have a cozy dinner. It started to get really annoying. I recommend booking a reservation if you're planning on coming for busier times as I saw it got pretty busy that Saturday evening. The food was really good and fresh. We ordered the hamachi crudo, nigiri assortment, spicy dragon box, and matcha tiramisu. My favorite was the hamachi crudo appetizer and the matcha tiramisu! I'm really glad me and my boyfriend ended up ordering separate matcha tiramisus after debating if we should share or get separate desserts because it was sooo delicious. Thurs. 05/18/23 I came to Plano, TX for work and before my flight back home, I thought I treat myself to some sushi. I was looking for a spot more authentic, something that had traditional Japanese food and this spot popped up. I sat by the sushi bar, while the Lakers vs. Nuggets game was on and I was greeted by a gentleman working at the sushi bar, with a white button up shirt. He was very attentive and polite, asked if I wanted something to drink before my waiter arrived. My waiter was Danny and he's such a big help! He recommended the Yuzu cocktail, it was light and refreshing, crisp in flavor and not too sweet. I ordered the Agedashi Tofu, paired it with some fresh assorted nigiri and the yellowtail Yuzu roll (UMAI~!!). I had such a wonderful time here, the restaurant was very clean, everyone seemed to have a great time in the dining and bar area, the place was just fun! If you're a regular here, please participate in their monthly raffle to win a gift card! I was given a ticket, but I'm from SoCal and I'm not sure when I'll be back in Texas, but when I return, I'll drop by again! Make sure to stop by, this place is definitely an absolute hit!!! P.S. Excellent Japanese restaurant with a lot of variety including more than just sushi. The sushi was fresh and I really liked the yuzu Hama roll. However, my favorite dish was the Kurobuta pork jowl which came with a plum paste dipping sauce. The combination was phenomenal and I honestly would have ordered more if I didn't want to try more items. Another great item to try was actually the kurobuta sausage. Each sausage was small but extremely juicy and flavorful. Everything else I ate was also good and I will be coming back to try more! read more

It's my second time here. Last time was 2years ago and I remembered the Uni and salmon roes sushi are amazing. I wanted to try something different this time. We had a kids so we have to get more cooked items rather than sashimi style dishes. We got the pork jowl and duck breast first. And our kid critic was very satisfied and can't stop eating those. The garlic beef box sushi is amazing and the garlic and red shallot sauce really hit the spot for both kid and adults. My favorite fish is Japanese snapper, the red skin was torched but the sashimi is so tender with umami ocean flavor. I love the amberjack fish, too. It has a nice chew when you bite into the flesh but melted in your mouth afterwards. Our waitress is attentive and bring child chair upon our request. Ebesu is a hidden gem in downtown Plano - okay, maybe not so hidden anymore since it's gotten (well-deserved) accolades ranging from being on Dallas's 50 best restaurants to semi-finalist for James Beard Award for Best Chef in 2022... Anyway, we finally visited after talking about it for so long, and so glad we did! We had a reservation at the sushi bar, so we were seated right away. What we got: - March sake flight: A set of 4 sakes - Aizu Chujo Junmai (Fukushima, +2), Hakkaisan Junmai Daiginjo (Niigata, +5), Chiebijin Junmai Daiginjo (Oita, +0), Jozen Junmai Ginjo (Niigata). My favorites were the Chiebijin JD, Aizu Chujo J, then Hakkaisan and Jozen. My flavor profile tends towards the JD (filtered) variety, more on the neutral rather than dry side. I enjoyed sipping on all of these sake though! - garlic oyster okra: Love how they steamed the okra before dipping in the garlic oyster soy sauce and prepped the pieces by cutting off the stem so that they're ready to eat whole! Almost got another order, but we decided to get the mushrooms instead toward the end of our meal to try something different. - hamachi crudo (yellowtail, yuzu kosho vinaigrette, radish, serrano pepper): Many sushi restaurants have their own version of hamachi with pepper/chili on top, and this one lives up to the hype! I liked the drizzle of yuzu kosho vinaigrette on top of the slices of fish. - kurobata pork skewers (yuzu kosho sauce): Sprinkled with the peppers to the right amount, these skewers were fantastic! Juicy bites in the perfect proportions. - Marinated hanger steak: Very juicy, no chewiness whatsoever. Full of flavor in every bite. - kamo meat (grilled duck breast, sweet oyster soy sauce, sesame oil) - mixed mushroom (teriyaki sauce): Comes out on a small binchotan grill and left tableside to simmer for ~5 minutes. A waiter came by to check every now and then, and mixed it up for us when it was ready to eat! Very delicious, juicy bites of mushroom. Loved it! - "Jo" nigiri assortment (9 pieces, chef's choice): Sitting at the sushi bar was a great idea - we got to watch this artwork in progress. Chef Koji himself came out of the kitchen to make some of the pieces, and he supervised his sous chef in making the other pieces. For our assortment, we each had: akami, chutoro, shimaaji, hotate, hamachi, ebi with fried head, torched aji, sake, chopped toro. Every bite fresh and clean. I'm becoming more and more attuned to the flavor and richness of aji, and this one was super delicious! Loved the hint of smokiness from the torched finish. - homemade matcha tiramisu: creamy layer on top of thick matcha cake. SOOO GOOD. Would definitely get again. I devoured pretty much the whole cake by myself. I had the chance to speak a little bit with Chef Koji himself. He hosts special "tasting nights" on the 4th Monday of every month, where he takes suggestions of ingredients from his guests and curates a special menu that is not focused on sushi. I will need to go back for one of these nights soon! Unfortunately, they were out of NY Strip loin skewers. Based on how good the other skewers and meats were, I'd bet they're delicious. My wife and I have eaten here several times and we are never disappointed. I'm half Japanese and my wife is 100% Japanese and of all the places we've eaten at, this is the most authentic. I never celebrate my birthday but this year I want to show my friends in Texas what real Japanese food is all about. Tonight our server was Kana and she was on point! Dishes were served promptly, used dishes were taken quickly. Our drinks were never empty. This is Japanese service! We are too many things to list but it was all fantastic! We were able to speak with Mr. Fujii, one of their management team about booking my birthday and he was very pleasant and answered all of our questions. Very polite and professional. It can get expensive if you start to order too much but is relative. My wife and I had dinner at Harvest in downtown McKinney the other night and it was just over $100 including two drinks. Service was great because it seems the entire staff works together to get your order taken and delivered! The bartender was amazing as were his cocktails! I had the Lychee Martini which was perfectly made! For starters we had the Hamachi Crudo... this is my go to always but this one was exceptional! We also started with the Delux Spicy Tuna Roll. I highly recommend this roll... the flavors were perfection together! Next we moved on to the Negi-Buta Noodles, the Black Cod Miso Yaki, Mixed Mushrooms and the Yuzu Hama Roll! My boyfriend and I came here last night for dinner, and we were immediately in awe of the well-decorated interior of Ebesu. It has a classy vibe about it but welcomes casual and comfort as well. The service here was relatively good. They were easy to communicate with. The main issue we had was that our server did not check up on us often or bus our empty dishes quickly. Also, one of our rolls didn't come out on time, probably due to miscommunication of sorts. The food is great! We ordered several things and fully enjoyed eating most dishes. Below is my review of each. Overall, good food at reasonable prices and decent service. I would come back once in a while. 1) Tuna/Salmon/Snapper sashimi: Thick and flavorful; well worth the money; was missing wasabi on the side. 2) Kanpachi Crudo: The jalapeño is actually spicy! Generally, I haven't eaten spicy green jalapeños before so I was taken aback a little. Expect sourness from the vinaigrette and a nice soft texture for the amberjack. 3) Gyu Tataki: I was surprised that the microgreens in the middle of the beef "roll" had a flavor, and it was interesting. The dish was fun to try, but it wasn't something that I would order again because my main focus is sushi here. 4) Crunch Spicy Salmon Roll: Another surprise! They put the tempura flakes IN the roll so it doesn't create a mess all over the plate. I enjoyed this roll, but there was also a flavor/oil/spice added to the salmon that is different from what I'm used to. I liked it, but it was a change in pace. 5) Tempura Udon & Soba: Loved it! Especially the udon which had a slippery feel to it and was a perfect thickness. Both bowls came with plenty of noodles. Tempura was well fried and wasn't coated in an overwhelming amount of batter. The broth had the comforting feeling with a tad of sweetness. 6) Matcha Tiramisu: Lovely matcha cream and homemade sesame and ginger cracker! Found the sponge to be a bit dense though. read more

Finally tried this joint out- its good! We had a private room but the atmosphere overall is very nice and chill. Tried a bunch of different stuff and it was all good!
