Did an order for pick up, spent 45$ for 2 "gourmet family dinners" My first attempt was to order it online and my purchase order would not go through so I proceeded to call to pick up It was very hard to try to communicate with the lady as she doesn't understand me and my order price She asked which type of gourmet dinner I wanted I told her specifically the 21.95$ dinner I ordered Mongolian beef with hot sour soup The beef tasted very old/ almost like the plastic was infused with the meat somehow Barely any beef and an overload of onions My rice tasted like cardboard which signals "very old expired rice" My hot and sour soup was like the smell of a toilet bowl and tasted very bland throwing it away because I ended up getting really sick and definitely going to have OSHA inspectors go in there And I ordered for my friend, orange chicken and wonton soup Orange chicken was an illusion of hot tasty food. As soon as it cools down you can taste the oldness and how gross it Taste. Nice, local, spot. We've been coming to Edna Ray for many years, always order the Won Ton Soup. Especially this time of year, it's a delicious, and warming treat. We usually do take out, and the phone order process is easy (though some times we have to have to speak a bit more slowly). I expect we will remain happy customers for a long time to come. read more

Wow, don't let the seedy neighborhood keep you away! Only problem with this place is making sure you're car is safe outside. But once inside Edna Ray, it'll feel like your new go to Chinese food restaurant. Great lunch specials, very quick service, sizable portions and affordable. I'm a huge fan of the Kung Pao Prawns! Delicious sauce with a little kick to it! With so many of these bistro Chinese food spots it's nice to see a good mom & pop like this. Great service is overlooked. We've been going to Edna ray for about 6 years now. Today was definitely our last. In the last few years we have noticed different staff and we just haven't experienced great customer services for a while. We have definitely slowed down on dining at Edna ray because of the terrible customer service. Today's experience definitely made us want to walk out and never go back again, even our children were uncomfortable for the way the workers spoke to us. $50 for 3 dishes and to get yelled at by the worked. I'm sooooo disappointed. Edna Ray used to be one of my favorite restaurants back when they were in Willow Glen. Tonight we got take out and the food was horrible. We ordered Mongolian beef, orange chicken, and chicken fried rice. I know Mongolian beef is supposed to be spicy, but it was so spicy no one in my family could eat it (and I LOVE spicy food - I put hot sauce on everything). I order Mongolian beef almost every time we get Chinese food, and I've never had it as spicy as this one. In fact, this is the only time I've ever had ANY food that was so spicy that I couldn't eat it. The fried rice, on the other hand, was bland and dry. Even my teenager didn't like it, and she's never had fried rice she didn't like. The orange chicken was edible, but not great. The flavor was good, but there was more breading than chicken and the breading was mushy. We treat ourselves to take out every Friday night and was really looking forward to this, but it was such a disappointment and a waste of money since no one is going to eat the leftovers. read more

We love this place but tonight it was a total disaster. Ordered at 5:41 and it was here at 6pm. It was NOT cooked fresh. It was definitely reheated and not that much either. I had my usual honey WALNUT shrimp and not a single walnut in it and it was soggy like it was reheated from yesterday! And the pork fried rice was really dry. The pork was dried out and the rice was hard. The egg roll was soft and mushy like it had been sitting around since their lunchtime. My husband's beef wasn't very warm but tasted ok. This is a step up from Panda Express in the world of take-out American Chinese Food. Their portion sizes are huge. I ordered from Door Dash, and the food was still warm and ready to eat when it arrived. I ordered the combination chow mein with extra shrimp. Hello everyone so I have been here total three times the first two times were good. I came today with my kids. My daughter ordered a sweet-and-sour lunch special and it was just sour. There was no sweet to it. We did let them know that it was not to my daughters liking, and if we could exchange it, they stated that they weren't gonna exchange it nor take it off my bill because My Daughter had already touched it of course she touched it because she had tried a small piece of the sweet-and-sour on top of that the service is just real bad they have an attitude with even asking for a cup of water, so I had Nlet them know I wasn't going to pay for it because it was not to my daughters liking and that this was the first time we ordered the sweet and sour they did exchange it for the beef broccoli however it was just a lot of back-and-forth and it seemed like we had to argue with the staff to go ahead and get this issue resolved. The food was palatable but was not impressed with the taste or quality. My gut feeling was not to try it since it was close to closing. I've never been to this place, but I'm glad I got a chance to stop by. It's definitely not set up for dine in, with half the restaurant sectioned off, but there were maybe 6 tables still to occupy. Me and my friend had the gourmet dinner meal. We each got a small cup of soup, small Chinese salad, 2 small Crab Rangoon, 2 fried shrimp to share, a fried rice to share and she got sesame chicken while I got the beef and scallop entree. It was $22? Plus tip. The service was good, they offered refills without us asking and even fixed my friends salad after she forgot to mention a nut allergy, the food came out hot, and they were nice enough to let us sit there until close to closing. We saw a lot of To-Go orders picked up while there. While ambiance wasn't the greatest due to the location and set up, the food was good, and I'll likely order to go from them. read more

So take that for what it's worth before you read my review - your opinion my differ - but if you like authentic Chinese food - this is not your place. I ordered take-out, pot stickers, white rice, Kung Pao chicken and their chef's special version of chow mein. $80! I ordered very early and it took almost 40 minutes to get the food - so I was already bummed. Potstickers - doughy, not a lot of flavor. The sauce was good. I can't say I'd be happy to have them again, but not awful. Kung Pao Chicken - It was pretty good, they cut down on the spice for me. The veggies were fresh and crips. Thier chow mein said "Chunky pan fried noodles" which excited me because as a kid my local chinese food was anchored by pan fried chow mein noodles. This was more vermicelli noodles. Maybe if my expectations weren't set up by the description I'd love this. But it was fine. This was about a $35 meal, maybe 40 with tip. Portions are indeed huge and it will provide several meals but I still can't see myself ordering here again. :( read more

This place has changed its name but I'm not sure if the owner changed too. In anyway, we've had dinner in the restaurant but mostly ordered food for pick up. The meal combo for 2 was reasonably priced. Egg roll, soup, rice and 2 entrees. Call in your food for pick up and they're done in 10-15 mins. Beef broccoli has good meat-broccoli proportion. Mongolian beef is the best: spicy, meaty and with lots of sautéed onions. And you can't go wrong with their fried rice. Reasonably priced. Service-not great but not bad. read more

We work for our money too and don't appreciate fraud! Look at the pics for yourself. In addition, the Singapore noodles were just a flat, one note yellow curry and the Mongolian beef had 2 tiny chili pods and no noticeable heat. Decent for a basic American Chinese lunch. Food was fresh, prices were cheap, parking a plenty. Some notes: They have a tiny parking lot behind the restaurant but a lot of people living in the apartments behind them use it so it's always full even if the restaurant is empty. There's plenty of street parking in the day. Some people are saying it's not a great neighborhood to park in. It's fine on the main street. Just be smart and hide valuables. They have a lunch menu for during the week, and you get soup, salad, your main dish and choice of white rice or fried rice. Staff are friendly and refill waters regularly. Or maybe I just went on a really slow day haha. Overall if you're in the mood for some broccoli beef or sweet and sour prawns or another American Chinese dish, they're great prices for lunch.
