Edward's is one of my favorite gems in the city!! One of my best friends and I come here a few times a month to share a bottle of wine and a great meal. I've tried quite a few things on the menu, and everything is fresh and flavorful. My favorite is the cobb salad-- I don't know what's in the dressing--super garlicky-- but I could seriously lick it from the plate it's so addicting!!! (Sometimes I do!) The staff is lovely, but not overbearing. It's the kind of place you can read a book with a glass of wine ala Carrie Bradshaw and be unperturbed, or bring your entire crew and be treated like a queen. Edwards is the "Cheers" of Tribeca. The ambiance is warm and inviting, the food is dependable and always terrific, and the staff is fantastic. If you spend any amount of time there, they'll make an effort to get to know you and make you feel at home. It's the type of place where if you go several times, your waiter will remember what you like to drink or the fact that you prefer blue cheese on your turkey burger. It's also a versatile place; the relaxed but classy atmosphere works perfectly for a lunch meeting or after work drinks, and no one will judge your for bringing the family for brunch or dinner. It's open late, and after 10pm, it's not surprising for me to run into other friends getting a drink or a late bite. I love this place. A++. read more

The food here is horrendous but that's not even the worst part. On top of a meal that makes you want to question your life choices, you're met with an unruly, rude, and downright mean owner and staff. The owner treats his patrons as if each one is a burden on his day. The only thing you want to so after entering Edward's is leave as fast as possible. It's uncomfortable how you're made to feel. Edward's is a cute little café in Tribeca with great service and solid food options. I met my friend for lunch on a Friday and we were able to get a seat without a reservation. Though the tables are a bit tight, it made the dining experience more intimate. I opted for the Crispy Chicken Fingers with fries and salad (the fries were awesome!) and my friend ordered the Portobello Sandwich. I had my first Cincinnati night experience at Edward's last night. Before which I had never heard of skyline chili, Montgomery Inn Ribs OR Graeter's Ice Cream! Come on!!! I grew up on the West Coast. Before my coworker could finish her description of these three Cincy staples, I had already called my gym to reschedule my training session so I could join in on the feast. How could I miss such a treat flown in once a month ONLY??? I ordered the 3 Way ($11.50) a culinary masterpiece of skyline chili poured over a heaping pile of spaghetti then completely covered in shredded cheddar cheese...Love at first slurpy bite. You are whisked away to a land of football tailgate parties and family reunions with brisk Fall temperatures. Other Cincy options include: The 4-way (skyline chili, spaghetti, cheese and beans) The 5-way (above plus onion) Coneys $3 (skyline chilled poured over a hot dog with mustard and onions) Cheese coney $4 (above with a mound of cheddar on top) Monterey Inn Ribs Larosa Pizza AND OF COURSE...Graeter's Ice Cream. Surprised I haven't reviewed Edward's. It's near my office and so has become a regular stop for me, usually on Friday nights. I like ending the workweek here with a veggie burger and sometimes the frizzled onions, sometimes an order of broccoli on the side. The atmosphere is casual bistro. Sometimes the managers dim the lights to unforgivable levels, but the music is not so loud that it overpowers the conversation. The crowd seems to range from mid-20s hipsters to mid-40s couples, some with families. I have brought a date here, and it was a pleasant evening, and she enjoyed the food. So I guess Edward's is a good date place. In the winter, the back is usually warm enough for you to eat and linger without freezing, but sometimes it's not. I've never been so bothered by the cold that I've asked anyone to turn up the heat, though, and I have done that in other restaurants, so that must count for something. There's only one unisex bathroom, which you would think would lead to interminable lines, but it doesn't. Only rarely does someone have to wait, I have found on numerous visits, and usually not that long. And that bathroom seems to be kept quite clean. The portions are generous without being ginormous, and the veggie patty holds together well; you can see the chunks of broccoli and carrot in it. The frizzled onions are a guilty pleasure. They are Edward's version of onion rings--really onion strings. They will, unfortunately, linger in your mouth much longer than you want them to (you will definitely want to brush your tongue along with your teeth before you go to bed), but, oh, how great they taste! I try to avoid fried foods, but Edward's frizzled onions two or three times a month are my exception to that rule. When I do get the broccoli instead of the onions (the veggie burger comes with fries; there is no charge for subbing the frizzled onions but a $2 charge for subbing a vegetable), the broccoli seems to be steamed, and you get two or three decently sized florets. Prices are reasonable; I usually get out of there for about $22 before tip, with no appetizer and no alcohol and a few Diet Cokes. Tip: When you enter, pull hard on the door. There's a sign instructing you to do so, but it's easily overlooked. read more

Long story short: Food will leave you hungry and service is atrocious. Ate here today for lunch and was severely disappointed despite having low expectations going into it. We stopped in at about 2:30pm and it wasn't even busy. The host seated us outside and we only got menus because the waitress who was getting the check from the table beside us gave us menus as an afterthought. We were then ignored for at least 15 minutes. No water, no asking if we had questions or if we were ready to order. Short of getting up and finding someone, we were giving every indication we were ready to order: looking to make eye contact with anyone, menus flipped over, etc. The host looked over a few times and on the third or so time, asked if we wanted to order. Why would we sit down and stare at menus if we didn't want to order? Following that, someone I assume was the bus boy as I didn't see him take orders brought over a pitcher of water. Then 15 minutes after that, our food. No one came by to ask if everything was okay or how we liked our food but if they had, we would have told them: - crab cake sandwich on an English muffin: this was pretty good but very small. The English muffin was a bit pathetic. It was small and sad like it had been a reject at the English muffin factory. This was something like $15 - not worth it. - chicken tenders: this was offensive for something marketed as an adult brunch entree. There were 4 pieces of chicken, each slightly thicker and longer than a french fry. The dipping sauces were not very good: mystery red sauce and honey mustard. We felt robbed for paying $14 for this chicken tender mockery. We asked the bus boy for the check after consuming our kids' portions. The bill called out a "Julia S" as our server though she didn't do anything for us aside from giving us menus because she happened to be collecting money from the table next to us. We left hungry and agitated. This is the worst display of customer service (more like lack thereof) that I have experienced in a long while and for such meh food, it's not with the time, money or frustration. read more

One of my go to places by the job. Usually go to hide out when the going gets tough at work. Plus it's several blocks away and you know you won't bump into anyone you know. The food is delicious here. I think of it like our guilty pleasure and hidden escape. Guilty pleasure because they have a grilled cheese with tomato and cheddar sandwich on sour dough bread that's to diiiiiiiiieeeee for. Comes with a side of fries. They serve wine here as well. I compliment the sandwich with a nice glass of cold pino grigio. Calamari is also delicious and if I want to be really bad lets get the guacamole and chips. All super tasty. During lunch it's pretty busy and they have outdoor seating. But I like sitting indoors. Don't need to hear the crazy NYC traffic. Owner usually sitting at the bar. Parking is not good in the area. Take the train. There is always a special menu. Although nothing has ever really caught my mind since I tend to stick to the grilled cheese. Go you won't regret it. read more

I found this place a few blocks from The Flea Theater. I had dinner before the performance. I liked the atmosphere, a long bar and then comfy booths and tables. I had the special soup, a large bowl of white bean and sausage. It was tasty, a bit spicy, but hit the spot that chilly night. My entree was the penne with chicken and string beans. Also a generous portion and delicious. My only problem was that families with noisy kids are seated in the back, which I did not know when I first arrived and was seated there. Within minutes, I was surrounded by kids--and their rude parents-- who wouldn't stay seated. The couple on a date beside me wasn't too comfortable either. I advise choosing the front tables. Waiter service was good, although they did nothing about the noisemakers. read more

5 of my co-workers and I decided to do our "holiday dinner" post-holidays this year, since we were all so crazed during the season and couldn't mutually pick a night that worked. So last night, at the recommendation of one of my colleagues who is a Tribeca resident, we sought refuge from the drizzly night in the warmly lit Edwards on Broadway. A friendly staff greeted us and helped us with our coats, as we slid into our table in the back section. The atmosphere is truly cozy, and NOT in the new york real estate sense which usually signifies uncomfortably small space and sitting on top of your neighbors. Edwards is plenty spacious, and cozy in that the volume, temperature, lighting, food, staff...EVERYTHING, truly leaves you with a feeling of comfort, intimacy, and content. I dug the atmosphere big time. The menu is standard french-american bistro, prices are pretty decent for the neighborhood, and the wine selection is pretty good too. we went with a bottle of rioja for $33 that was excellent. Our server was friendly enough, but did tend to disappear at certain times. however our food came out pretty quickly, and everyone enjoyed their meals. For appetizers, we split a modest sized appetizer of fried calimari which came with a spicy marinara and a garlicky aioli for dipping. one of us had the french onion soup, which looked and smelled great. For entrees, I had the penne-chicken with green beans and parmesan sauce. Everything about this dish was perfect EXCEPT for the chicken - it was a bit dried out and too blackened. but the green beans were blanched perfectly, the sauce was delicious, and the penne was perfectly al dente. the rest of my companions all ordered fish (tuna, salmon, shrimp) - all got rave reviews. For dessert i went with the blueberry bread pudding, which was tasty, but missed in terms of consistency of what bread pudding should be. it was more akin to bread than pudding. i would definitely recommend edwards as an overall dining experience in the tribeca neighborhood. i look forward to trying their brunch. read more

Great bartenders are hard to find, and the beautiful woman working this bar on this particular evening was perfect. Shes also a good friend :0) My Manhattan was mixed just right on the rocks with two cherries. It hit the spot just right. My Frisee salad was sooo good, salad with chicory, roasted garlic, bacon lardons, crumbled blue cheese with mustard vinaigrette and a poached egg. Everything melted into each other and the bacon chunks were awesome. I enjoyed my dinner here so much it was just one of those perfect meals. I hear the burgers are great here too. Average restaurant with below average service. After reading other reviews I thought the service surely couldn't be that horrid but last night it certainly was. It seems like a disorganized rabble. They do attempt to make sure you are taken care of at least upon initial seating, but it's all downhill from there. Towards the end of the meal we tried to find our waitress to pay for the check but apparently she decided that it was more important for her to sit at the bar, enjoy a drink and talk with some guy. We were very perplexed. I will also reiterate what some other posters said - the fries are pretty good and come in ample supply with whatever you order. I had chocken fingers with a cesar sald and fries. Had dinner last night and quite enjoyed it. The roast chicken was delicious. A very moist half chicken over mashed potatoes. (There would have been spinach but I asked for and got a side salad instead.) My friend's tuna nicoise was made with real tuna as opposed to canned tuna and looked very good. Over the years, I've also had the chicken caesar multiple times as lunch take out and it was uniformly delicious. Wheelchair accessibility notes: No stairs to enter, though it might be tricky in cold weather navigating the turns through the external add-on vestibule and then the door. There's a single good-sized wheelchair accessible bathroom in the back. Getting there in a large wheelchair might require asking a diner to move, but shouldn't be a problem. The bathroom has enough room for an aide, has grab bars, and the accessories are at reachable height. The restaurant itself is not huge, but I think there would be room for a wheelchair diner to eat comfortably. read more

Definitely try the wasabi tuna sandwich. It was a bit spicy and definitely clears the nostrils because they don't skimp on wasabi but the tuna was cooked perfectly. I was surprised at how much tuna they include in the sandwich too. We went for lunch and it's a perfect place for a slow, relaxing lunch as it's not too crowded. read more

I have been having some of the greatest and worst lunches in NYC lately, and this is right up there with being a great. A moderately priced lunch was great for my two colleagues and I to grab lunch at when we were working in the area. The seared tuna sandwich with wasabi mayo was incredible medium rare. The flavor of the tuna was still lingering even after being layered with the wasabi mayo. The fries were equally delicious, but we got all of the stinkin small guys at the bottom. They came with a chipolte mayo and it was delicious. Perfect. Decent service. It only took us 40 minutes to sit, eat and pay. Not bad. read more

It was really funny to see all the people jumping for joy over spaghetti covered in Sklyline chili, cheese, onions and beans and explaining it to their friends. "OK those people are eating CONEYS!" The place was packed. Reservations for this night go fast and this is a monthly event! Kinda genius if you ask me. Everything was delicious, nostalgic and the service handled the crowd well. The only reason I took a star away is because the price was outrageous. It's more than twice the amount you would pay in Ohio. This place is decent for lunch. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. It will not blow you away but it has a cool brasserie vibe and the service is friendly and fast. They have a soup and half wrap of the day deal for $8 which I usually get. I usually am not a fan of chicken tenders but theirs are really good. The breading is well-seasoned and the inside is juicy. Came here for lunch to meet a few friends in the afternoon on a Tuesday. It wasn't as busy as it is when I pass by at lunch, but it was peaceful. All the windows and doors were open which was nice, but it was a very hot day so I would have preferred a little AC (#spoiled). The menu has something for everyone and was an equal balance of healthy choices and indulgent choices. My friends ordered the Huevos Rancheros and a cheeseburger with fries. I ordered the Nicoise salad. They both enjoyed their meals, and I THOROUGHLY enjoyed stealing a few of my friends fries. They were REALLY great fries. My Nicoise salad was topped with beautiful rare seared tuna and was so fresh and delicious, I can't wait to order it again, although the portion was a bit on the smaller side. We were taking out of town guests to the WTC site and it's hard to find a decent place in that area that's not oversized and overpriced. Edward's is in a pocket north enough on Broadway in Tribeca that is surrounded on all sides by lots of culinary choices. Edward's was appealing by the smiles on other patrons' faces as well as the availability of a 6-person booth. Sliding in, we ordered up some coffees and teas, and soon after, 4 norwegians, a scrambled omelette, and the crab cake. We were all happy with the food - nothing outstanding but classics done reasonably well and not absurdly priced. The waiter was too busy chatting with everyone he worked with and acted like he was too busy to wait tables . You must have me confused with someone who works here . Great weekend brunch spot. Happened upon this place as my friend and I were cruising for a good brunch. It had the right mix of ambience and crowd but we were seated right away. Probably cause we got there at 12pm and New Yorkers like their brunch at 1pm with a side of hangover. Eggs benedict - amazing! Yum. I'm not sure why you wouldn't get, at a minimum, a Skyline Chili (3 way) and Graeter's ice cream (black raspberry!!). Certainly there are better ribs to be had in NY. Stumbled upon this place while looking for somewhere to grab some dinner. It was pretty crowded, but we were seated quickly. The wait staff was excellent.......they were both friendly and attentive. I ordered a grilled fresh tuna sandwich with a wasabi sauce.........it was very tasty. Overall a good meal at a fair price, especially when compared to other restaurants in the area. I recently skipped out for a weekend in Manhattan and happened to stumble upon this very cool place for lunch. As soon as you walk in, you feel relaxed. Our waiter was very cool and attentive. I got a chance to try several things off of the menu, as I picked on my friends' dishes, and everything made my taste buds happy. Also, the orange juice I had with my meal was abnormally good. Cute french bistro feel, but I really come here for the awesome Huevos Rancheros.... is that weird? No way Jose, because they're awesome. The eggs are made over easy and the tortillas are fried, but don't fret, you can ask for them to just be pan cooked vs deep fried. The salsa was not too spicy and the whole thing was served over black beans. The coffee here is also great.
