3.5 star experience. Order at the register and have your meal delivered to your table type place. We ventured in for breakfast on a sunday morning. Menu was diverse. Breakfast platters, wraps, etc. of the mediterranean assortment. Our meals took a little while to come out but everything tasted pretty fresh. I got the California omelette which came with cheddar mushrooms and avocado. Also a side salad and some wheat toast. I was satisfied and the prices were fair. Effy's cafe is one of the must-visit restaurants in the Upper West Side. It's easy to spot this cute cafe, which is perfectly located few blocks from the subway. Aside from the good food we ordered, where we got fish taco and grilled fish sandwich the service was great too. One of our servers, Shan was realy nice and made our dining experience comfortable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting New York. read more

We were very happy with our breakfasts here. I had the Green Shakshuka, it was delicious. Their hummus is fabulous.

On one visit I had an Israeli breakfast and on another a humus falafel babaganu plate. Both were reasonably priced and tasted wonderful.

Good place for a quick bite or lunch. You can have coffee, lunch, brunch so many options. The dishes are a good size meal and it's inexpensive. I always have the Mediterranean platter but the soups are great specially in winter and the sandwiches look pretty good. read more

The staff are friendly and accomodating. The food is great too! I especially love their avocado toast. And since it is a Kosher place, there's only fish and fresh vegetables. Great little cafe and coffee place in the Upper West Side. Everyone who works here is really kind and friendly. One of very, very few coffee places with outdoor seating, and it has a big wall of doors for fresh air so if you sit inside, you can still enjoy the outdoors on nice days. Effy's food is fine (green shakshuka and California omelette were good, the home fries were not and the orange juice seemed to be from frozen concentrate). The primary issue was with the service. The staff is friendly but very inattentive. We were not approached to order for the first ten minutes we were seated; we had trouble flagging them down for things like coffee, cream, sugar, the check, etc. We had to actually ask for the change at the end of the meal after waiting quite a while. The environment was pleasant, but between the mediocre food and lackluster service- it left something to be desired. read more

Loved it. The food was inexpensive, but not cheap. Delicious with a middle eastern/Israeli flare. We only ate the sandwiches, but my wife and I had half each of the Tunisian tuna and the mozzarella.
