Horrible service! I never write poor reviews, I just don't return but this was too horrible to let slide. After convincing friends to eat here, we waited patiently for exactly 1 hr. Staff downstairs at checkin were friendly and apologetic for long wait as we could see empty tables upstairs. Finally we get seated, my friend orders the special of the day steak omelet and we order off the menu. We get our meal, and the friend who i convinced it was good, never got his meal. We asked what was happening - the waiter said "my bad". We finished eating and still no meal. It still being worked on - by then my friend just cancels it. I didn't get really upset until management said we didn't charge for the special...what! We never got it! The icing on the cake - fellow waiter said have some compassion. I never made a scene at the table, and can't blame our waitress as she seemed sorry as she was in training, but it was management and staff who riled me up making excuses. I just wanted them to acknowledge a wrong was done and that I was embarrassed that I convinced my friends to eat there and this is how they treated us. Oh yeah, they comp'd the coffee - wow! You must give your order BEFORE you enter this restaurant. So you are standing outside in a cramped area above the steps trying to read the menu, as the bench against the building is full. And, if you are already holding you Starbucks coffee, they will not let you bring it in even if you tell them you will be ordering more coffee or juice. Prices are NOT a bargain either. We left, went to McDonalds with our own coffee and had a sausage egg biscuit. Under $5 and very good. read more

Two words: PAPER PLATES! This was my first time experiencing Eggs N' Things and honestly, I had high expectations due to the amount of people waiting in line [and for so long too!]. I was expecting- real plates, silverware, bigger proportions, and amazing breakfast! My boyfriend woke me up to have breakfast with him and I really didn't mind waiting for 20 minutes since I was still asleep. After the whole process of wait in line, pick out your breakfast, pay and wait again to be seated-You will start to notice why there's a line and how tiny this place really is. You're only lucky if you get to sit in a booth over looking the beautiful ocean across the street. Unfortunately, we had to share our "booth" with another couple. They'll give you this buzzer thing to tell you that your food is ready. Oh, and you have to get your own drinks. Boohoo. At least, there was someone to bring your food to the table with a smile. [so, great job for that!] Okay, so! FOOD: He asked for medium rare for his NY steak and got the steak well done plus a bunch of fat overpopulating the steak.. Another thing about the steak was that it didn't have much of a flavor to it. Just bland. The whole thing was just mediocre. Pancakes- It's alright. My boyfriend make better tasting pancakes than this. Eggs were a bit small. I don't really see the price matching the food. Oh and yes, the PAPER PLATES! and plastic utensils. I was turned off at paper plates... That's a lot of people + a lot of paper plates = a waste. I would understand if this was one of those food truck, or other takeout food places but still, really? Paper plates? Plastic utensils that you cannot even cut very well into the fatty steak. STAFF: You're all great with all those smiles. Absolutely delicious food and a great selection. My only hangup is that it is rather pricey for breakfast food, but for what you get and it being right on Waikiki Beach, it's worth it, for sure. Literally walked up to the front door at 8am and they had a sign saying "No eggs. No meat." I walked out the door. Are you kidding me? Lame.

Food ordered were egg Benedict, omelette with bacon and pancake, Portuguese sausage with pancake. As stated by others, we had to wait due to the long line. Food was great. The only minus was there was a missing syrup for the pancakes. There were 2 out of 3 available. They should check to make sure everything is refilled. read more

We had seen "this brand" in Harajuku Tokyo. That location always had a line, almost exclusively women. By line, were talking at least 30 people waiting but we saw close to 100 on a few occasions. We wondered about it, but didn't have the time to find out. Imagine our surprise when we saw "another" location, right next to our hotel. Turns out, the Japan version is an unlicensed rip-off! Holy moly! We had both varieties of loco moco and the fried rice and eggs. The over easy eggs were prepared with a deftness that would delight that king statue guy across the street. His pose is probably the result of some sort of awesome time traveling paddle board and his resulting "aaaaaauhhh, so delicious" cry that probably caused the formation of the islands in the first place. Its a time paradox, its not supposed to make sense. We went for dinner and want to try breakfast, if we can beat the crowds.... with our time traveling paddle board. staff was awesome friendly and I love the Japanese style ordering system; order, pay, eat and leave! I have to agree with my buddy; disposable plates usually means the food is so awesome they dont need to impress you with cheap silver ware. Unless you're in Canada, in which case run! read more

Was not impressed--the line is deceiving---thought people were dying to come in but it's really because the restaurant doesn't seat many and makes it look like --it's worth waiting for. If you want to order at the door and be required to pay and tip before you even sit down---then this is the place for you. If you want basically no service except delivery of what you ordered, which was a joke because after all that, we waited a half hour before it was delivered ---this is a place for you--if you are satisfied with the coffee with no refill--again just sit down---if you think about what you had and the bill and tip you paid at the door ---yep you could of had dinner tonight!!! You don't come here for the omelettes (I learned that the hard way) you come here for the Macadamia Nut pancakes smothered in coconut syrup. Oh my word! I now understand why this place is so busy and why the wait is almost an hour at 6am. The restaurant is small and everyone is squished like sardines but it is worth it. This place was highly recommended my many people. Food was decently good but I expected more based on the reviews. The Hawaiian loco moco, which has great reviews, is essentially Salisbury steak, rice and an egg on top. Something I make for dinner quite often so I wasn't thoroughly impressed. Not the restaurant's fault, just nothing to write home about. Additionally, my French toast was cold, maybe because they were waiting on my partner's food to cook. The French toast special (with pineapple and macadamia nuts) itself was mediocre but the syrups were delicious and made it worth having! There are three to choose from, one is coconut based and probably my fave. Service was fine, there was a line however the wait wasn't too bad, maybe about twenty minutes total. I would recommend as a breakfast spot but it's not a "must see" My partner says "I wasn't blown away". read more

The long line in front of this restaurant caught our attention, thinking that this has to be something good for people to line for. So we decided to come here the following morning right when they opened at 6am. The morning of, I looked this up on yelp and saw that there were actually 2 locations, which had pretty much opposite reviews. But since we were hungry and this is the closest to us we just went here. When we got here the line was already starting to form. Now here are the reasons I'm giving 2 stars: - there was a girl who was taking orders right before entering the restaurant. She was getting inpatient and frustrated with the non-English speaking Japanese family in front if us. She treated different customer with different attitude. - had to pay before being seated. Even a tip was suggested upon payment. A little annoying because if we wanted anything else we had to go back to the cashier, tell them what we want and then make another payment - disposable utensils, plates and cups make it look very cheap, when though the price wasn't. - found out that the reason the line was so long was because the seating availability was limited. Small space. - on the plus side, the food was edible and the view was great. I recommend Mac 24/7 at the Hilton which we tried the morning before. Better service, better food - similar prices. Come to find out per the waiter, they just chose not to cook our order which comprised of - 1 spinach omelet, 2 side orders of pancakes, vegan sausage and a scrambled egg. Gross, not worth the wait. Ordered the daily special: Omelet couldn't eat it, didn't look appetizing at all. Too pricey for eating breakfast on a paper plate with plastic utencils. Had to sneak my coffee in because there was a sign that said no outside food or drink allowed, I get it but I had just purchased my coffee on the walk to the restaurant. One thing that bothered me was how sticky the table was when I sat down, I had to ask them to wipe it down; didn't make a difference it was still sticky couldn't wait to get out before I got sick. read more

My husband and I were honeymooning in Waikiki and walked by this place a few times. Every time we saw it, there was a long line to get in and we figured the food must be great if crowds of people are willing to wait to eat. So we gave it a shot. We waited in line for about 20-30 minutes. When we reached the top, the man explained that we were supposed to order right then, and then we would pay, and then get seated. It was different, but hey sometimes different is okay. After we paid for our food, I noticed that there was a booth by the window where the people seemed to be almost done eating. I asked if we could have a booth, and the waiter said there weren't any available. I said, "That's okay, we can wait a little longer." He gave me an unpleasant look, and then had us stand to the side and started seating other people and said, "Maybe." His whole demeanor was really rude towards us. After about ten minutes, I saw the people in the booth get up to leave. I thought we were finally going to be seated, but then the waiter says to me, "I'm sorry. You can't sit at the booth. They're for people who have more than two people eating." Again, he said it rudely, with no smile or any kind of apologetic tone in his voice. We would have left but we had already paid and were starving. So then the guy proceeds to seat us at a small table with uncomfortable chairs, with another couple at the same table, which was awkward -- especially because of the fact that they were Japanese tourists who spoke to each other in Japanese the whole time they were seated next to us. Kind of hard to have a conversation with someone when that is going on. I was confused as to why we wouldn't be able to have our own table and had to share with strangers. Then I happened to look over at the booth that I had requested earlier and saw that only two people were seated there. WTF?! The waiter came over to take our drink order, but informed us that certain drinks we had to pay extra for. What?? We waited a while for our food to come. When it did come, they were served on paper plates and we were given plastic silverware. I ordered spam and eggs and macadamia nut pancakes. The spam and eggs were super greasy. The pancakes the coconut syrup were tasty -- but very rich and sweet and I couldn't finish them. The restaurant is small, has people packed in like sardines, and has a lot of open windows. If there was an A/C, we sure didn't feel it. It was really humid and stuffy in there. This place is NOT worth the price and has bad customer service. read more

For a while, people have been talking about this place so being my birthday and Mothers Day.. My husband took me here, per my request. When we got there, the line was pretty long. I'd say we waited about 30 minutes. I figured that was a good thing. My husband and I, eating with our eyes, ordered the Hawaiian Loco Moco, Macadamia Nut Pancakes, and Eggs Benedict. I'd have to say the Loco Moco was pretty good, but the patty was pretty small as well as the egg. We got the regular Eggs Benedict. There was also Crab Cake Benedict. The Hollandaise sauce was... Gross. They poured it all over that I had to ask for a separate plate just to put the extra sauce on the side. I got potatoes with it, and only ate a few as they were drenched in the sauce. The egg, unfortunately, was very small. I was confused? I couldn't stand the sauce and the amount of sauce that I only ate one. (They came with two) The Macadamia Nuts Pancakes were... Hard. We had to use a knife to cut it. They told us it was fluffy and very tasteful, which they weren't. The Macadamia nuts were good. The Guava syrup didn't have that much taste. Honestly, we didn't try the coconut syrup. We kind of were over it by then. I gave it two stars as the servers were nice and the Loco Moco was good. Why the heck did we waste 30 mins in line and $40 on a breakfast? This place is so overrated and not worth it. Don't be fooled by the long line. Food here was worth max $5 for two. Nothing special, corned beef hash salty!!!!! They serve everything on Styrofoam plates with plastic utensils. Zero presentation skills. I could have made better eggs myself frying them on the sidewalk on a hot day in waikiki. I was going to give this place an extra star, because I had to beg one of the guys to sit us by the window, which he did, but seemed irritated. I understand this place is super busy, and I feel bad for the workers here, but seems like everyone had a sour look on their face. The reason why I don't think this place deserves an extra star for moving our table to the window is because we went to Cream Pot on Niu Str. the next day., and had such a wonderful experience! We were offered a choice where to sit, food presentation and taste was exceptional, and utensils were real, plus staff were so sweet and friendly, they make eggs n things look like rotten eggs. What a disappointment, I used to live in Hawaii and frequented the first location when they were a real restaurant. we were there for dinner and had the garlic shrimp and the crab benedict, the shrimp were cold and tasteless with 2 scoops of dried out rice, the crab cakes had to be preprocessed from a food supplier. if not they should be ashamed to admit they made them. the request for soft eggs did not happen. The meal was also delivered in stages. and we had to request missing parts of the order more than once. They have a good location but not much else. read more

This place is NOT worth the wait at all! You can get a better breakfast at McDonalds one block away, and pay a fraction of what you'll waste here. We went this morning, and it was shockingly awful. We got the strawberry whip cream pancakes and the acai bowl. The pancakes were $12, so we figured they would at least be a decent size stack. Wrong. It was 5 small pancakes, with a few soggy strawberries, covered in a ridiculous mountain of whip cream, all served on a floppy paper plate. Our utensils? Disposable plastic fork, knife and spoon in plastic packaging. The acai bowl was laughably bad - the smoothie part was a frozen block - apparently they just make a bunch of these the night (or week) before and then stick it in the freezer. When you order, they throw some fruit and granola on it and give it to you. It is impossible to eat - you literally have to chip away at the frozen block with your plastic spoon. It's pathetic - but at least we got to pay $7 for the frozen acai block. It was really sad to wait forever and then have such an awful breakfast experience. I hope by writing this I save someone else from a bad start to their morning. read more

Went there on a recommendation from a friend. The wait was somewhere around 20-25 minutes of standing and it simply was not worth it. I ordered the eggs benedict and was asked if I want the eggs soft or hard, which I've never heard of before. I said "Soft, they're supposed to be poached". I was concerned so I asked the guy when paying and he assured me it will be poached and they ask to determine how runny you want it. Well, for the first time in my life I got nearly hard boiled eggs for eggs benedict. It was one step away from full on hard boiled. I was quite ticked off. To further ruin the meal they layered around 4-5 slices of ham (not canadian bacon as far as I can tell) so I had to dissect the meal to remove the over abundance of meat. My wife got the crepes and they were under cooked and gooey. If you want a fanastic breakfast I would highly recommend Lulu's, and their Eggs Benedict is fantastic and they have some unique benedict options. For the wait, the price, and substandard food I recommend staying far away from Eggs N Things. Giving 2 stars since at least the food didn't make us ill... though my wife took two bites and literally threw her breakfast away sadly. read more

Yikes - this is the kind of experience that ruins the rest of your day. So rotten it's memorable. I am still attempting to wrap my brain around the extent of the 'casual arrogance' displayed by management and staff (except one chagrined busman, who we gave $20 to for his courageousness at rising above a truly disgraceful corporate climate) Beginning: Told there was a 20-30 minute wait, and that we needed not to roam away, ok, we can do that. My wife and I waited, while our teenage guests windowshopped around the corner. At 30 minutes, no table, so another friend (mother to the teenaged graduate we were hosting) said she could join us - tack on another 20 minute wait. When our guest wasn't on hand yet when we finally got called (after 50 minutes on a Thursday morning!!) we were told she couldn't join us, or that we would have to wait all over again. Loving my Waikiki tourist experience at this point (32 year Kamaaina), I said I would give up my seat when our guest appeared. Now understand, there is table room for five where we were placed - but I agreed to leave when our guest came (and leave without my food and go back to the hotel). Five minutes late, our guest was told she could not be allowed to order!!! The table of mothers and teenaged graduates were smugly informed "that was policy." That's when even my wife kicked up a storm, and you have to understand my wife is probably a Michelin five-star on the 'nice person' rating meter. This is an experience we will long remember as a family, and I promise you we will share at every opportunity with friends and visitors over the coming years. Please, gentle visitor, stay away from this place for your own well-being. There are so many great breakfast places in Honolulu, including, just a couple of blocks away, the Wailana Coffee House that will greet you cheerfully, and be grateful for your patronage. Koa House (anywhere on the island) is also terrific and half the price. This place views your time and visit with contempt. read more

This is the Eggs 'n Things Eggspress. So It is a little different than the sit down restaurant. The way you order is kind of weird, but it seems to work for them. You order at the door and you get a buzzer. Then you stand in line for a table (if they are busy) and when your buzzer buzzes, you go to the counter and pick up your food. I went with two friend and we wanted to try three different things and share. We ordered the eggs benedict, their famous pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream, and a spinach and bacon omelet with mozzarella. All three were sooo good! Apparently Hawaiians eat rice with breakfast so we got rice with the eggs benedict. Surprisingly, the rice was really good with the hollandaise sauce, so it worked. The sauce was delicious and the eggs were so fresh they looked like they just came from the chicken that morning. The yoke was bright orange! delicious! The omelet, was really good, but nothing super special. It had a very generous amount of bacon in it though, and since I LOVE bacon, I was happy. But the favorite was the pancakes. They were light and fluffy with an enormous amount of whipped cream on top of the strawberries. But what made it the best was the coconut syrup. At first it didn't sound good to me, but I figured, I'm in Hawaii, how can I not try the coconut syrup. If i didn't like it, There was maple syrup available. So I tried it , and it was AMAZING! It was so good I bought a bottle of it to take home with me. This place is not going to be your food critic's favorite place, but it is delicious, reasonably priced, great service, and has a beautiful view of Waikiki beach. read more

We had an ok omlett, but amazing white chocolate, fresh raspberry Hawaiian sweet bread french toast. Bathrooms were a bit scary. Staff seemed young. OMG!!!! the food here is amazing I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich, chicken mango sausage, and a side of eggs (to put on top of my sandwich). The chicken for the sandwich was seasoned perfectly and has an amazing taste, the chicken sausage tasted amazing, and the egg was cooked perfectly. I would eat here a thousand times over. read more
