It's been a minute since I visited Egg's n Things. With all the new brunch spots all over I wanted to try I totally forgot about this oldie but goodie. Seriously! My husband and I visited this past weekend. We used the handy, dandy Yelp app to get on the waitlist. We were on the waitlist for 45 mins. As I scoped the menu out I noticed the price points were nice! Most items were priced below $15! That's hard to find lately. My husband ordered the Hawaiian Loco Moco and I ordered the spinach ,bacon, cheese omelet. The food was delicious. I don't remember the last time I found a loco moco with onions AND mushrooms DROOL!! The omelet was full of bacon and had a good amount of spinach. I got pepper jacks cheese and it tasted perfect! The fresh fruit rainbow pancakes was great just maybe a little overwhelming on the whipped cream but it was delicious. My family also enjoyed their dishes also. We tried to eat at Eggs 'n Things' Waikiki location years ago but didn't feel like waiting over an hour for breakfast. This time I called around. Waikiki had a 45 minute wait, Piikoi 15 minutes. Sold! According to the menu, this Piikoi Street location has a larger menu that includes apps and alcohol. ATMOSPHERE: They're located in the Ala Moana Shopping Plaza, a small separate strip mall that's part of Ala Moana Center. Parking was easy regardless of the small lot. The restaurant was clean and bright with a mix of a small counter and table seats. MENU: It's huge and intimidating! Breakfast selections, tea service, local plate lunches, bar-style apps, Korean cuisine, burgers, sandwiches, desserts, beer, mixed drinks, wine, sparkling wine. BEVERAGE: Guava Juice - $5.00 Wow, this juice was thick and gritty, exactly how fresh guava juice should be. Kind of pricey though. FOOD: Spinach Bacon & Cheese Omelette - $12.00 Their omelettes are made with three eggs so they're very hearty, even more so with the ingredient stuffing. Honestly, there was too much bacon inside for me as I finished the omelette and removed some. You get a choice of steamed rice, roasted potatoes or three pancakes. I chose the potatoes which were good - roasted crunchy on the outside, soft inside and plentiful. SERVICE: We were greeted immediately. We had a short 20-minute wait on a Monday morning around 9am for the three of us. Our server was friendly, attentive and professional. Could eat more than a bite. Left a full plate, when asked how it was we said not good at all. Nothing was done to rectify the situation. Steak was supposed to be prepared medium, it was cooked well done. Why ask how I'd like it if not going to comply? No taste in it at all. No time to get a new one, so once again, stuck with an unsatisfactory plate. Waited to see if there was anything that would be done about the bill. Nothing at all. Pancakes were the best thing. Ordered a make your own omlette with bacon, green onions, and round onions. Plate came. It looks like they sauteed the bacon, green onions and round onions for a bit then dumped it on the plate. Then fried an ogg and tossed it on top. The round onions were just that - round. Not cut up. So each bit had a long stringy piece of white onion with it. Egg was dry. Not really an omlette (which you pay more for) than just meat and eggs which is cheaper. Maybe it's jsut me but I'm used to a fluffier omlette with the ingrediants folded in. Heck, they could've sauteed the meat and veggies dumped it into the middle of a fried egg and folded it and would've been better. Individual elements of the dish tasted ok. I don't get the hype with this spot. Lines always long, takes forever on delivery too. Still have had it several times, for some reason. This time around, had the burger (just okay) and the Portuguese sausage omelette (straight bad) delivered. The omelette was super oily and tasted like it. The check in is located on the street entrance, once the table is ready you walk up the stairs to the second floor. Waitress checked COVID vax card & ID once we were at our table. Portuguese sausage was awesome! Super flavorful but not too overwhelming. Pineapple pancakes were also amazing!! Highly recommend for trying new items and local flavors. We ordered takeout to our hotel room and were pleasantly surprised. The price was incredibly reasonable. The smoked salmon Benedict was delicious with beautifully runny eggs and it even came with a side of pancakes. Mind boggling experience - we got there at 1:35pm and the store sign says open and when we went inside the store, there were people eating. However we got turned away by the lady in the front saying that the store is closed when we tried to check in with the yelp app on their iPad. A couple minutes later, 2 people went in and somehow they didn't get turned away, so it left us curious what the store policy is and who gets seated and who don't. The place was pretty busy when my daughter and I decided to go for breakfast since we were in the area shopping. I ordered the salmon benedict which looked better then it tasted. The english muffins were over toasted so they were crunchy to the bite. After the first bite, I just ate the benedict without the muffin. I ended up eating just half as the taste wasn't that great. Fortunately I ordered a short stack of pancakes which made up for the lack of taste on my benedict. On a side note, my daughter loved her crab cake benedict. read more

I usually enjoy eating here so today's experience was a terrible shock. I ordered the crab cakes eggs benedict. It was aweful. 1) the crab cakes were fried, processed patties you can buy in the frozen section of a grocery store, 2) the muffin was super hard and thick, so ticket it was taller than the crab cake and egg; and 3) they gave me about a teaspoon of hollandaise sauce per egg. The waitlist sat at a 20-40 minutes, which is fairly reasonable. By the time I got a seat, I was starving. I ordered a Portuguese Sausage Eggs Benedict with Potatoes. The food was super delicious, and I have no complaints whatsoever. There was a hair on the edge of the plate, but it was a fairly minor issue, nothing to get worked up over. Service was definitely a bit slow, with coffee and water refills scarce. I assumed it was busy today, since it was the weekend, and left it at that. Scenery was nice, placed right in the middle of downtown with Ala Moana nearby and the view of high rises. There were very small bugs that appeared every once in a while (I sat at a booth next to the wall) but it wasn't too bothersome. Overall, great food, decent service and ambiance. If you want breakfast, I'd recommend coming here, but only if you can tolerate the wait times and service. read more

I had some time before my morning dive and didn't want to have another McDonalds morning. I decided to give Eggs 'n Things a try as it was just down the street. The seating is fantastic when you walk in as its an open air restaurant. The servers were quite nice and attentive during my stay. Never had to worry about water refills and they answered all my questions without any delay. I ordered the traditional eggs Benedict with pancakes. I somehow got lucky and was given both potatoes and pancakes, so that was a plus to my morning! The pancakes were light, fluffy and warm! The side butter had a rich flavor and the syrup was great! Put it all together and you have one fantastic pancake. The potatoes were crisp with good season. The flavor was impeccable with a little bit of ketchup on the side. As for the eggs Benedict, I found it to be just as amazing as the rest of the mean. The eggs were cooked eggxactly (get it?) as requested. The ham was flavorful and the bread wasn't dry. The sauce was good, but I wish it packed a little bit more of a punch. For the cost, it was fantastic. I would greatly recommend this place! read more

I typically just get the meat breakfast with eggs & potatoes & either turkey bacon or chicken sausage as I don't eat pork. We have Eggs 'n Things in Cali, but the food served here is on another level. You can tell there's so much care put into making the food! I have been here a couple times, never had an issue until today. First the chocolate chip pancakes are good, they are the best pancakes around. Second.... and why I'm giving a 2 star review is the traditional eggs benedict. They serve the Eggs Benedict on a hamburger bun, yes you are reading that right a hamburger bun. Checked in using their required check-in kiosk. My party of four was given a wait time of 10-15 minutes. I decided to check what was going on as I was already going on 25 minutes of waiting to be seated. When I went in and asked about my party and how much longer, I wad told their system sometimes kicked people's seating request. I was then told they can put me back in but I would have to wait another 20 minutes. This is truly ridiculous, If you know your system has problems then you need to either fix it or nix it. Will never recommend this place to any of my friends and family and would just as soon go to McDonald's for breakfast. read more

Please avoid eating here! We ate here on our first day and we literally got sick. The food is not good and pricey! We got egg burrito with a side of the worst guacamole ever, they charge $3 for canned guacamole which I find it ridiculous. The second dish was eggs with tuna which was tasteless and two terrible coffees we paid $64.14. I had to complain about how expensive the guacamole was for a canned one... and I've been told by the manager that the restaurant is the cheapest restaurants in Waikiki and the avocado expensive!
