So imagine my anticipation when I saw towers of whipped cream blueberry pancakes and oozing hollandaise pass me by. My bf had noticed a table adjacent to us had closed out their check and were about to leave. His confused look had me wondering what was wrong. He noticed that both customers had barely touched their food, and what's worse: they didn't want it wrapped up to go. Hmm. I selected the Eggs Benedict and my other half ordered the Kalbi & Eggs with buttermilk pancakes. Our server was enthusiastic, very friendly, and efficient. Wait time was moderate and before we knew it, our dishes were right under our noses. The kalbi and scrambled eggs were good, but definitely no great shakes. The eggs benedict was passable on the first bite, but then I noticed discrepancies. The english muffin was flat as a pancake, the ham was even thinner, and the hollandaise sauce was dull. The side order pancakes were mediocre even with all three syrups (coconut, guava, and maple). Nothing stood out. Soon enough, I found myself losing my appetite before I had reached the second benedict and left most of it to be chucked. All in all, you pay too much for what you get. For the price we paid, you can easily find much better quality at other eateries. I will admit - their pancakes are pretty good. I sampled the side order (3 small pancakes) that came with my dining partner's corned beef hash & eggs, and they hit the spot. But their corned beef hash was quite a disappointment. I paid $5.95 for a side order of corned beef hash, I got a thin pancake of canned corned beef hash. So if you're jonesing for some good homemade corned beef hash, this not your place. We came on a Sunday morning at 7:30 am and we were seated right away and were in and out in less than an hour. Yep, we walked in on the spur of the moment for a late Sunday brunch type of meal and the first thing we noticed was at least 75% of the patrons were visitors. Positives- coffee was good, service was great, the staff, from the hostess to the cashier and everyone in between were very friendly, courteous and attentive. 5% discount for locals, bumps up to 10% for dinner- yay! The food looked good when it came- nice presentation for the Eggs Benedict. The potatoes were done up nicely, the ham scramble and pancakes were enjoyable, but nothing special according to da wife. Negatives- Eggs Benedict used a couple of slices of cold cut style ham with a very bland hollandaise sauce- I have tasted better sauce and a higher grade ham at a buffet. The table next to us had ordered the Crab Cake Benedict- they agreed the hollandaise sauce was "mild" at best. "Use tobassco sauce" they recommended-shouldn't have to do that, man. Pricing is on the higher side. As is usually the case, most restaurants have their strong dishes and their weak ones. For Eggs n Things, the classic Eggs Benedict is a "no go" in my book. I kind of wonder if the food offerings are compromised a bit because it seems mostly visitors eat here. Their dessert breakfast items looked good, when you have that hankering for a sweet breakfast type of treat this is what I would try next time. But then again, looks can be deceiving. 3.5 STARS I ate dessert here after finishing a meal shortly. It had a nice, warm & homey ambiance. Bright yellow walls and some merchandise like coffee sold inside. Customer service was a little bit slow. But it got better towards the end. I just ordered the Mini Rainbow Pancake for a light dessert LOL. it was OK. I should have had ordered the Blueberry Waffle, but I think it would be too much for me at that time. I had ordered Spam & Eggs w/ rice that came with salsa & sour cream dips. It's a moms and pops eatery'. Had an omelette pretty good, made differently but it's ok. My mom have a breakfast burrito, that was very heavy. Service was decent and no slow. It's more of a diner. We tried one other day but it was so busy and we had our toddler with us and gave up before we got seated. This time we were seated quickly at the bar. There were tons of yumy looking options and I settled on a breakfast burrito. Went with the Portuguese sausage but kinda wished I had gone bacon, cause duh. Anyway, it was good not the most flavorful I have had, but decent. It was a little too heavy on the potato for me. Hubby got the chunky monkey pancakes and I had a bite. I a typically not a fan of pancakes but every once in a while I have some that take me by surprise. These fall into that category, super fluffy and moist. Heard about this place for years, but driving to town for breakfast is not my idea of a treat. So since we are testing out living in Honolulu for a while we are discovering places we like on this side of the island. I realise we are doing so in a bubble of Covd, but it's nice to go to places uncrowded, plentiful cheap parking, clean uncrowded beaches...did I say we are living in Honolulu? The interior is cleared for social distancing and it felt fine. The servers wear masks and gloves and take out customers wait outside. The cash register is at the door, which is good, but can create some congestion, if you care about it because people dont seem to know how far 6ft is unless you have tape and arrows. We had the chicken mango sausage with eggs over easy and kalua pig eggs Benedict on taro roll with home potatoes. All done well and in generous but not obscene portions. It was actually my first in dining experience since March. If it is as uncrowded and tasty as this, we will try more places. read more

I wondered why this restaurant always had a long line, and my lunch buddies and I usually go to the restaurants next to Eggs N things, but because there was no longer a line, they decided to go, and I had no choice but to go with them, knowing that the prices are already high for the food they serve. My intuition was right, and although the food tasted ok, it's not worth the price I paid: Paniolo Loco Moco - 3 stars - For $12.95, the taste of this loco moco was actually pretty good, but to me, wasn't worth the price because the hamburger tasted partially processed and the price was too high for a basic dish. Pancakes - 4 stars for the taste - pancakes came with a friend's dish. I wouldn't personally buy a plate because it's really expensive, but they make it with a sweet maple taste (maybe from the butter I dipped a piece in). I'd actually buy this dish if they lowered the price. They have 3 different syrups only, so this restaurant is rather basic compared to other pancake houses. Service: 3 stars - The waiter was friendly, but having a limited lunch time, service is really slow. Best to eat here when you have cash and time to spare to chat awhile with a friend. read more

COVID-19 Summer 2021 makes it hard to have meals in a timely manner so you have to plan it out. Today, we stopped here to have breakfast at lunch time. Staff was cautious and courteous as they sat us and took our order. I had the Island Fried rice, my daughters had Kalua benedict and Kalua spinach omelet with mac nut pancakes, and my wife had the French toast. All were so good. The sweetened cappuccino is good! I ordered an iced kona coffee and it was really bitter so I don't recommend it. It was around 7:45/8:00am so it wasn't crowded but as we were leaving the place filled up pretty quickly. Two different people checked in on us. A younger gentleman who was kind and attentive and an older gentleman who was a little more aggressive. He asked if I wanted to donate to the children's hospital or some organization but he asked really loudly and I agreed to donate but I assumed it would've been after my meal so it could be included with the bill. So he stood there and it was super awkward. I asked if I could do it at the end and he said sure that should be okay. He then came back after we asked the younger guy for to go boxes and it was even more awkward the 2nd time he came. First time here. Put our name on the waitlist and waited outside on the bench. It started pouring the rain and we were getting wet so I asked if my son and I could wait inside. I was told no. So we huddled by the entrance door to try and stay dry but we were still getting wet. Once our table was ready we went inside to see others that came in after us waiting inside. If it's not for satisfying my tourist friends, I dread coming to this place. Their business is so good that the wait is too long to bother. The staffs are so indifferent that they do care about clients. They have become rude and careless. They really don't give a *peep*. (*Except one called Randy). My other brother ordered a chocolate chip waffle and got a stomachache from the ridiculously overkill amount of chocolate chips. Overall, a very underwhelming experience. Had a delicious açaí bowl. Super fresh fruit. I'd have to say it would have been 110% better if the açaí wasn't frozen sold. I had to wait about 15 min before I could actually eat it. One of my favorite stops for breakfast. Usually parking is tough and there's a wait, but its worth it! Great aloha customer service, amazing menu with lots of options including Belgian-style waffles, pancakes, omelettes and more. Service was quick and theres lots of coffee and espresso.
