My mom ordered bacon and eggs with an upgraded coconut shortstack while I just stuck with the spam, eggs, and a scoop of rice. The food came quickly despite it being busy... But the food was average. I probably should've gone for something else since I could have gotten my meal at Zippy's for much cheaper. Mom said that while her shortstack tasted good, the texture was not to her standard. There's no reason to eat here. While usually, a waitlist means that the food and service are good, this is not true for this location, nor this company. The food is mediocre at best and overpriced for sure. The service at this location and others is nothing special and the long wait list is due to long service times and empty tables left dirty for more than 5 minutes after customers leave. Denny's and IHOP have similar quality food and service but at much better prices. When this company opened their first restaurant in Waikiki, it was great. But its clear that the operators are better at cooking and serving guests themselves than they are at operating a business and hiring people who can do just as good a job as they can. I didn't care for this place before but now it's become almost a staple with my family. They are clean and distanced between tables and in a convenient place for us. Now they use a QR code for the menu if you have a smart phone so you don't have to touch the menus and there's also no waste with paper menus thrown away with every customer. Even condiments are single serve when asked for. With covid being the new normal this place ain't perfect but it is one of the cleanest I've seen. read more

So my family and I tried out this place for the first time last week Monday. I would definitely recommend this place because we left happy and full :) I ordered the Island Portuguese Sausage Omelette which came with a side of my choice (I chose the pancakes!). After we all ordered she wanted to double-check because as a whole, our party ordered 14 pancakes. My sisters and I are tiny so she thought we couldn't finish it but we were hungry so we gobbled our food up lol. For any tourists out there, there was a waiter that was speaking fluent Japanese (I think) so that was pretty cool. That's the kind of customer service I would want if I was in a foreign country :) Eggs 'n Things is located next to the Ala Moana mall near Payless Shoesource I believe. So their parking lot is shared with other vendors in that lot. But we were there around 1:30 or so, so thankfully we didn't have trouble finding a parking spot. Read about this place in all of the books, heard about it from anyone who has been to the Island, so it was a must do for us. It was pretty good. Of all of the meals in a day, breakfast is definitely my favorite so I was really excited to try this place out. We went at about 9 am on a Friday and waited about 5 minutes for a table. The restaurant is small, but clean. The staff is very nice but you will be thrown off at first because they use an app on their phone to take your order, so it appears that they are texting rather than paying attention. They offer a large menu as well as some intriguing specials throughout the day. I ordered the Hawaiian Sweet Bread French Toast with macadamia nuts, pineapple, and whipped cream. My wife had an omelette with a side of pancakes. My French Toast was a huge portion. At first I was disappointed that, for the price, I wasn't offered any aides, such as bacon or eggs, but in reality you don't really need it. I put coconut syrup on one side and guava syrup on the other to really sample these Hawaiian flavors. It was good. I'll be honest it wasn't more than good. I'd probably go again for a decent breakfast when looking to venture out a little, but I don't really get the hype. The pancakes were fluffy and tasted good, but were a tad undersized. Being from New York, specifically Long Island, we are spoiled by diners. That's all the Island is. CVS, 7-Eleven, Diner. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. The waiter brought us the wrong side to our order and when he returned to correct it, the front cashier charged us for the "extra condiment". After dropping off the parents at the airport we decided on finding an early morning breakfast place. We decided to go to Eggs N Things. This is the second location located by Ala Moana and Nijiya Market. Usually the place is pretty busy in the morning with the flocks of Japanese tourists and you have to wait and wait for a table. The solution for this be crazy like us and get there when it first opens. We were the first ones to get seated and the only customers for a while so service was on point. We ordered the special omelet which was bacon, mushrooms, green onions and cheese with potatoes and the strawberry macnut pancakes. The eggs were well cooked and there was an ample amount of filling. The potatoes were also crispy which I love. The pancakes were fluffy and I liked that they had different choices of syrup (coconut, guava and maple). Parking is available right outside. I went on a Saturday at brunch time so parking spots were limited. If you can't find parking, there's available parking behind the restaurant inside the mall. That's not bad since I have been here before and waited 20 minutes or more. The workers were a bit busy so it did take them a while to take our orders. For me, after I got my water it took about another 5 minutes for the waiter to come back and take my order. Understandable though, it was Saturday brunch after all. I ordered the Hawaiian Loco with sunny side up eggs. It was absolutely amazing! I popped the yolk and let it slowly flow. It was like a river, doing exactly what it was meant to do. It gave me a sense of peace as the yellow yolk flowed downward, covering the rice and steak. It made me want to eat it even more. But that wasn't enough. I'm a man who likes ketchup on my eggs. And Eggs and Things has exactly that. I grabbed the bottle knowing that what I do next will elevate my meal to the highest level of taste that a Hawaiian Loco Moco can reach. Locally sourced eggs means fresher, tastier eggs and more business for our local egg farms. Another thing that I was pleasantly surprised to learn is that they have started using 100% local grass-fed Big Island beef for their burgers! This particular location also offers pau hana happy hour deals where my hubby can get a beer with his "breakfast" and not feel guilty about it ;). Service here has that local friendly vibe and they are always really nice to my kids, which is always big points in my book. Eggs 'n Things also supports many non profits as I've seen them run specials supporting Make A Wish Foundation, Susan G Coleman Breast Cancer Awareness and Easter Seals Hawaii. Having worked for non-profits, I know how much these fundraisers help these organizations and not too many local businesses are willing to host these on behalf of the non-profit so the fact that they support our local non- profits speaks volumes about the people running this establishment, and it makes me all the happier to support Eggs 'n Things. Aside from the cell phone use, the only problem we had was that my meal came out about 10 minutes later than my fiancé's meal. I honestly think they forgot about my meal because they had to come out and verify that I did order an omelette. By the time my meal came out, my fiancé's meal was cold, and the whipped cream on his pancakes were half melted, which was disappointing. But overall, the food was good and the staff was nice. Ambiance - 3 stars. Nothing memorable but no bad impressions either. Service - 3.5 stars. I was impressed that the host generally remembered which party was which because he rarely just yelled out the party name. He usually faced the correct group and pitched his voice just loud enough. The server we had did come by often enough to check on us. That is always good. I was a bit put off that she entered orders onto her cell phone whether as part of the store system or her own notetaking I don't know. Food - 3.5-4 stars. My boyfellow likes this place. He ordered the ham and cheese omelet and a side order of portuguese sausage. I could not decide between the Hawaiian loco moco and the Corned Beef Hash, thanks to Yelp reviews but ultimately went with the loco moco. Love the combination but the meat was so-so. I visited the Ala Moana store on July 25th. When checking out I added a tip, on 26 July My card was billed $37.69 which was correct. On 27 July I was billed a second time for $31.94. I only visited the location once. I called the store and used the prompt to speak to a manager which doesn't work. When I was able to speak to a worker I was told this would be sent to the regional manager whom would have to correct the error.
