Loved this lil diner! I had the chorizo and eggs. Although I've never had chorizo and eggs cooked separately, it was good. Their biscuits & gravy was delicious! Coffee was also delicious and the service was great! Although we waited 20min to be seated it was okay since the location is right next to the park so we were able to enjoy was snow and scenery while waiting. It was just a friend and I so it was not acceptable that we have to wait so long to get sat down plus another 45+ min to get our food. Tried the poutine.. try the poutine! Fries were crispy, gravy was delicious, cheese curds were perfect. It was a really heavy dish but I'm really glad I chose it. My friend had the bagel with lox and capers and he was happy with his choice. My other friend ordered another large Mexican breakfast dish that was amazing too. This place was good with their service. The wait time was not too long and they were very friendly. I got the eggs Benedict but it had no flavor. The pork was very dry and so was the biscuit. I had to put a good amount salt and chili sauce to give it some flavor. The egg is suppose to be poached but it was cooked all the way through. I overall did not have a great meal but the side potatoes were very delicious. Nice and crispy and soft in the middle. Great breakfast and an even greater price. I am not sure why this place doesn't have higher ratings, or maybe I just hit it on a good day. First off, we did have to wait but only about 20 minutes and this was on a busy Saturday morning in the city (air and water show, Cubs/ Cards, etc). But they seemed to move people in pretty quickly and there were a lot of big parties that they got seated without much waiter. And the super cute and nice hostess seemed to have things really under control. Now for the food. The pre-defined meals seemed ok to me and were pretty cheap (most under $10). But for just a few $s more, you can add all kinds of extra sides that really make the meal. I had 2 scrambled eggs (which seemed like more than 2), AWESOME home fries/ potatoes, 4 links of turkey sausage, and 2 huge spectacular tasting pancakes. Ohh, and 4 slices of toast. All for about $13. All of the food tasted great and I was more than filled up. My wife had an omelet which she really liked and she loved the fore mentioned potatoes. I really want to go back to try their waffles, fruit pancakes, etc. because what I sampled was great. Finally, the service. Our waiter was great. He came by constantly to check on us while whirring around delivering food and taking orders for the large amount of tables he had to cover. We didn't have to wait to long for the food, even with how busy they were. I also thought the interior and appearance was pretty cool. Some of the reviews make it sound like a dive diner but it is very artsy with a big open floor plan. Overall, I would go back and I would highly recommend this to anyone. Went twice. Had breakfast poutine first time that was pretty good. Second time had the pastrami hash which was not good. Almost no pastrami in it at all. What was there was sliced thinner than a slice of bacon so there was no taste of pastrami. read more

Great breakfast place tucked in the nook of Lakeshore East! Somewhat full around lunchtime on a Friday. Very friendly/home-like atmosphere. The food came quickly, and the staff was attentive with our waters and ketchup needs. I just got two scrambled eggs with potatoes and a pancake, and it was astounding how excellent it tasted. The eggs were incredibly fluffy and the potatoes were small, crispy, and round. Yaaayyy Eggy's!! My family are huge dog people and have a habit of describing our friend's dog as eggy, so when we heard of Eggy's Diner we knew we absolutely had to stop in. I could have blindly pointed at something on the menu and ordered it and been completely satisfied. I did decide to make an educated decision though, and ordered 2 eggs sunny side up with potatoes and toast. I'm not a coffee drinker myself, but my mom really loved that they left the carafe of coffee on the table for you to refill whenever you needed a little top off.
