Great option for carry-out! I absolutely loved the stuffed French toast- the citrus marscapone was so creamy and full of flavor. It came with plentiful fresh strawberries and blueberries really hit the spot. My boyfriend's favorite is Cinnamon roll pancakes- they smelled so good. We also had the gyros skillet- really flavorful meat with plenty of feta. Love this spot in the neighborhood- it was easy to order by phone and picked up on 20 minutes on a weekday. read more

I started going here around June, although some days were better than others I was always greeted by a friendly face. I'm not sure who the host was but I don't think she is there anymore, what a shame she always made an effort to make me feel welcomed and was willing to accommodate me wherever I wanted to be sat. I Fast forward to now, although I still love the place and food I do miss the quality of the hostess it makes all the difference never presentable and definitely not as welcoming, bring the old hostess back! I was once sat by some girl who was wearing PAJAMAS, come on what is that? There is inconsistency with the hostess they're always leaving you never see the same one longer than a couple of months... I wonder why! There's only 2 girls that I've seen be presentable and polite to all the customers. But I will say that The staff is definitely very attentive so I'm not sure why the quality is so poor for the host team, the managers seem like a delight although I've only ever had the pleasure to meet Freddie. Eggy's I love your food and the wait staff but you've gotta do something about those hostess, you should hold them all to that standard that one lady had. I was staying at the Fairmont for a conference and went to Eggy's for breakfast with a colleague. This is my ideal breakfast place -- quick service, really comforting good, piping hot coffee, cozy ambiance, and fair prices. I had a simple breakfast, but it was delicious: french toast, coffee, side of bacon. It was delicious and came quickly, which was impressive given that the place was packed! By far the best breakfast spot in Chicago. Whenever we are in Chicago, Eggy's is a must stop for us. You have to try one of their skillets or their pulled pork eggs benedict and be sure to add-on a stack of pancakes by far one of the best pancakes I've had. Their homefries are these small round potatoes and you think they are burnt but they are not, by far the best and most creative homefries I've ever had!! Always crowded so be prepared to wait for a table and tables are situated really close, so also be prepared to make a few new friends. :D read more

What a chaotic mess of incompetence! I live in the Lakeshore East area, have never gone to Eggy's before until today, and will never go again. Sunday morning breakfast rush should come as no surprise to a breakfast joint. Sundays happen every week, breakfast happens in the morning. We put our name down at 9:19AM on Sunday October 19 and were told it's a 20 minute wait. OK. that's not too bad... Its not like its an hour wait or something...or is it? Because if it's an hour wait, you should tell us so we can go elsewhere that happens to suit our schedule better, and come back to Eggy's when we have the time to wait. But WAIT, we get seated at 10:22 AM, and that is what I would call an hour wait. You guys have been open for 2+ years now, so how are you not able to understand the customer flow and gauge the wait times better? I can only presume incompetence, not really giving a f*ck, or a combination thereof. We sit and we order. Mind you the table wasn't set, and we didn't have utensils. I had to steal them from another table. There were coffee mugs left on the table that was from the previous seating . My husband orders an american skillet which typically comes with cheese and sausage. The one that gets served to him has no cheese or sausage. It takes a while to get our waitress. Having waited an hour, we're short on time so we said we wanted to cancel the order since we don't have time to wait for it to be made again. Waitress says, oh it's probably already made, just sitting on the counter, and that they just gave us the wrong one. she leaves, and we never hear back from her again, and we never get the correct order. Come check time, she was also no where to be found. the rest of our party already took off as they needed to get somewhere. So i'm sitting there at a 3/4 empty table of 4, and our waitress apparently has no clue that 3/4 of her table has cleared out and that we are probably done and would like a check. i'm sitting there waiting, waiting, waiting for the check. I get it, and not only did they not take the american skillet off our bill, they charged us an extra one. Good job. Brilliant. Meanwhile, I'm still sitting at my 4 top drinking my coffee, and waiting for the correct check. Bam surprise, they start sitting people in our 4 top. i'm like WTF... so you can make me wait 1 hour for a table, and for me to get a check, but you can't have people wait a bit longer until I clear out the table before you sit people down at the table i'm still drinking my coffee at? Again, Sunday morning breakfast rush should come as no surprise to a breakfast joint. Sundays happens every week, breakfast happens in the morning. Get your sh*t together please. A very average breakfast experience here. The breakfast menu is pretty limited and the entrees were nothing to rave about about. I had the two eggs, hash browns and toast. The eggs had too much pepper on them. Wouldn't you let the customer handle if they want salt/pepper on their eggs? The hash browns were greasy. It took quite a long time for us to get our entrees although the place was not crowded. With Wildberry so close, I can't imagine coming back here anytime soon. Decent food. Not great service. Went in yesterday for some omelets. The food was pretty good but our waiter was reckless. He not only brought out the wrong order of French toast, but also forgot the toast that came with my omelette. We didn't mention either mistake to him because tracking him down for water was hard enough let alone our bill. I have been here twice late morning on a weekday. I wasn't expecting much. I was pretty pleased with my experience here. They have a couple of normal tables in the front now, it isn't all communal seating, which I despise, like I think it was when they first opened. I thought some of their prices were a little high but then again this is part of downtown and a high rent district. On to the really good stuff. The biscuits and gravy have a nice texture and flavor. I got a side of scrambled eggs with them that they put cheese on for no extra charge. The eggs were a little dry but maybe that was from melting the cheese. The potatoes that came with it had a really tasty seasoning and were tender and crisp at the same time. The other time I had the hot turkey sandwich, which was made with real roast turkey, not processed turkey that floats in hot water like some places have. I also really liked the mashed potatoes and gravy. It came with a soup or salad. I think the soups vary from day to day. I was indecisive and asked the waiter, Colin, for a recommendation. He's good for recommendations and is a friendly and helpful waiter. He recommended the tortilla soup, which had tortilla straws, a spicy tomato-based broth, big pieces of chicken, corn and some other veggies in it. Spicy and good. I also like the music here. The noise level is also tolerable at least during the week here and it's clean here. I believe I will be back. Just so you know, you can use the front entrance now. The back, speak-easy-ish door that's next to the escalator to Mariano's was just for the cold weather so those who sat in front didn't get themselves and their food uncomfortably blasted with cold air. read more

They need to update EVERYTHING from their website to their phone, because they're ALWAYS closed every time I go there. I enjoyed the potatoes but I didn't like the cheese on my fried eggs so I took it off. The food wasn't bad to me but it was not great. We waited almost 2 hours for delivery, and the bread on both of the sandwiches was so soggy that it was difficult to eat. Visiting Chicago on business and happened upon this Gem during My Spouse & I's extended weekend to take in the sights of the Windy City in Sept. Breakfast is one of our favorite meals of the day and rarely do we find a breakfast spot that we can rave about but this one hit the spot. Everything about it was great, casual atmosphere, good service and the Gyro Skillet was the best skillet breakfast I've ever had, with a pancake to boot. They've got the cutest logo and the coolest backstory. The staff is awesome and the food was good. They actually had to take a journey upstairs to Mariano's to get my grapefruit juice, so that was flattering, then hooked it up with free coffee for the wait. My friend didn't get his fries with his meal, and ended up eating them post-meal while we lounged and watched How I Met Your Mother on the big screens, but that was a minor issue. All in all, I'd come back if I'm around and other, nearby brunch establishments have lines all the way down to Michigan Ave (*cough*Wildberry*cough*). I'm sad to have to only give Eggy's 2 stars. I was looking forward so much to it opening. I didn't expect everything to be perfect considering I was visiting within a week of its opening, but there were just so many things wrong that I'm considering not coming back any time soon. We showed up on Sunday about 12:45. The place was packed so we had to wait awhile for a table. They don't really have a place to wait. A lot of people were leaving and waiting elsewhere. Service was great. Everyone was very friendly and seemed to know the menu well. The problems started with the food. We started with the cheese curds which were just okay. Way too much batter and not enough cheese, the sauce they came with however was delicious. I was excited to try the green eggs and ham, but they were out. So I went with the grilled cheese. Nothing special here, I think I make better ones at home. The fries that came with were so salty I couldn't eat them. My husband ordered the classic burger and he also had an issue with too much salt. We think it may have been the Eggy's special sauce. He took a few bites and couldn't finish it. The salt wasn't the only issue with the burger though. There were also pieces of bone. I took one small bite and also noticed the extreme salty taste and had a healthy piece of bone. After all that, we got the check and it was $40. I mean really, for a burger and a grilled cheese? It just seems a bit too much to me. I might come back again to try breakfast, but with Wildberry being right down the street it won't be soon. read more

No one is mentioning Eggy's dinner here, but the dinner specials are really good. We've had the Short Rib, the meatloaf, grilled chicken, strip steak , and and few others and they are always great. DInners come with a salad and rolls (the yeast rolls are fresh and fantastic) and then you get to choose two sides - the sauteed kale is great and the cheese grits are outstanding. We go occasionally for breakfast too but dinner is our main meal at Eggy's. read more

Instead it's Eggy's- First try was breakfast, kind of blah and the feeling inside the place was just weird-As well we had to sit at a large table and share it with 2 different couples- This time I went in for a chocolate malt, went back to the counter and asked for it-When handed to me I could tell it had too much chocolate in it but I didn't want to ask for another, I love chocolate but the perfect chocolate malt should not be dark brown, Johnny Rockets has the best, well the best one I got was from LA- I took a sip and it wasn't that awesome, but I needed to go-With tax it was almost $7, just not worth the price- Sorry, but I just can't find the good here...sad b/c this place could bank with the right food/environment- read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE, from start to finish---I was between Wildberry and Eggy's, and went to Eggy's because I was told over the phone that the hostess would add my name to the list and it would only be a 20 minute wait. We should have just waited 45 minutes for good food and service at Wildberry. We arrived and waited another 40 minutes before being seated at Eggy's. Upon sitting down, our waiter told us that the kitchen was slow...From ordering our food to getting food on the table, was an HOUR. Then we got the bill--And were charged $16.50 for three large orange juices, when only two came to the table. $5+ an orange juice is ridiculous, but it was hand squeezed. We were charged for three orange juices because one member of our party order apple juice... They didn't have an apple juice key on the cash register, so they tried to charge $5+ for juice from a bottle!!!! To add to the fun, upon checking credit card statements today, it appears Eggy's had three times the fun that we did, because they charged each member of the party the entire cost of the meal, rather than dividing it. Won't be going back. It's a nice space, in a great location. Can't wait to see what will go in once this place fails, which certainly will be soon based on their horrible service and inability to manage a restaurant. read more
