I come here pretty often now, they are a good option for breakfast and with the app, they give you free coffee. It can help to give you more bang for your buck and the food is good. I love Einstein Bros Bagel. They have the best coffee ever, however customer service here is terrible. I've been here multiple times and every time I come JOSEPHINE seems to be unhappy. She is rude, does not acknowledge customers and if you have a question she will answer very rude. The first time I came I let it slide because we are human and sometimes we are not having a good day... but seriously that negative attitude never goes away. The last thing I want to come across early in the morning is a negative attitude. Please let me know the days she is off so I can get my grub on PEACEFULLY! A shining example of life in Southern California. If it's remotely good there won't be enough of it and if there's any at all, be prepared to wait 40 minutes in line for it. There are no veggies. 2) Description of Twice-Baked Hashbrowns - need to disclose there is cheese for those that have allergens. First time here, ordered a Farmhouse Sandwich with the hash brown and an iced coffee. This is my usual order at any Einstein Bros (normally the one close-by liberty station). The bagel on my sandwich was completely burnt inside and instead of toasting a new bagel they just prepared my sandwich with it, I couldn't find any Country Pepper shmear which is one of my favorite thing of this sandwich. The coffee was absolutely disgusting I had to dump it after the first sip. It had pieces of coffee and taste as it was made with dirty water, soo so gross!!! The only thing that was decent was the hash brown and it was over cooked. at the other location it taste fresh and creamy, this was dry and crunchy. Couldn't come back to ask for them to remake my sandwich as I was on my way to work and didn't notice until I got to my office but this place is not worth anyone's time. read more

Horrible set up. The flow in and out is so bogged up. They need to remove the tables along the line area, no one is able to sit at to open up the flow. Choices are great. Food choice is on point. I come to Einstein's bagel often and their service is always outstanding. The Einstein in the Terranova shopping center is really popular really busy, but always manage to keep the wait time down to a minimal. I've tried almost everything on the menu and have even bought the puppy treats for our dog. The coffee is always fresh tastes good and it's hot and their orange juice is and fruits are always fresh. The employees are nice and remember you they make you feel welcome and it's always a joy to come back. read more

We ordered the Bacon tomato avocado sandwich and the nova lox with oj and the double hash combo... after paying, they said, "it'll be 20 minutes" I was like, "oh sure, I'll wait for good food" When we finally got our food and opened the bag... (this is where it gets good) it smelled like soggy fart egg whites and a bowl of unwashed menudo butt cheeks.. Took the first bite... the bead was cold, tomato was old, and the egg whites had mold... well not really but they did smell really bad. My husband, being a Jewish man from out of town, was looking forward to the Nova Lox all the while. He picks it up, took the first bite and said nothing. He was quiet for about 2 hours until I finally asked him, honey what's wrong? And he says, "thats not kosher! That was the fishiest lox I have ever had!" Poor communication from the employees. Came about a week ago for a dozen. Was told they had specials on Mondays for half the price. Came in today asked the first register if they had a special and yes they did so I asked for 2. Went to the second register and she's charging for regular price. I'm like I thought its on special. She asked if I had a number. I don't think so. She's like I can't give you the special. I asked how do I get the special and she gave me a card. I don't normally buy bagels when I'm out for breakfast. And when I do get a bagel, I eat it with just cream cheese. I always thought the idea of a savory bagel was pretty interesting so when I was in the area, I decided to give Einstein Bros a try. They have a ton of bagels to choose from and the menu is pretty extensive. I was originally planning on getting the Nova Lox (the one with salmon) but I was worried I wouldn't like how salmon and cream cheese tasted together lol. So instead I went with the Pork n' Pretzel, which was one of their new fall menu additions, basically like an egg mcmuffin but on a bagel. It came with a pork sausage patty, cheddar cheese, and eggs on a pretzel bagel. They were actually out of pretzel bagel though, so I got it with cranberry bagel instead. I like pairing sweet with salty (at ihop I put maple syrup on my sausage links haha) so I thought cranberry would taste good and it did!! My bf ordered mushroom, spinach, and egg whites on a sweet potato bagel and that was pretty tasty too. From the Yelp pictures it looks like the spinach florentine bagel is pretty popular so maybe I'll get that one next time. I also saw on the menu that they had new "schmearfuls" which were like bagel donut holes filled with schmear!! read more

I ordered a Bakers Dozen of plain and jalapeño cheddar bagel with a tub of cream cheese and a strawberry lemonade on the side. I highly recommend the jalapeño bagels with cheddar. As we requested, we received 3 bagels from our bakers dozen toasted. One was completely burned. Which at that time we didn't mention because we just didn't want to bother this lady. Which leads me to customer service. Customer service from Josephine was completely horrible.. She is indeed a mean women. I had my two children with me and their 10 and 12. Very easy children to please with a plain bagel. When I asked her what the specials are, she acted as if I was asking her to recite the Constitution... She even did this bobble head bounce, which was even noticeable to my children. I like to instill kindness in my children and when I sat down inside the store with my child, they asked why was she was so rude? I told them sometimes when people are ugly, you just have to treat them with more kindness. We stopped in before heading to Mexico on July 4th, the place was busy! The store is tiny and very hard to get to the back to order with everyone standing in the way, but that isn't a huge deal! We ordered our food and sat outside, nice day! I went to eat mine and a hair had been cooked into the bagel. We took it back in and they didn't really seem to care at all! We've had hair in our food before and the place apologized and felt horrible, these people just remade the sandwich with no care about them having hair in their food! read more

We asked them to remake the order and they only gave us two of the three sandwiches we ordered. All the people we asked for help from were extremely rude for no reason. On 4/1/2021 I ordered 2 dozen plane bagels to be delivered between 12 noon and 12:30 the next day. I received an email confirmation,and charges,for my order later that day. At 1:50 I called the store to ask when I could expect delivery only to be told that I had called outside of business hours which end at 2:00. I sent them an email asking the same question. Later that afternoon towards evening,when I still had not received my order nor had I received any attempt at contact to explain why, I emailed them to cancel the order.Later that evening I realized that they had still charged me for the order so I sent a 3rd email letting them know that I expected a full refund including the charge for delivery. Since I ordered directly through their website the failure to deliver really can't be blamed on the delivery service they use. I would think that at 2:00 when the closed and locked the door and started the days cleanup they would have noticed a box with 2 dozen bagels just sitting there waiting delivery. Also just good business practice would dictate that they make some attempt to contact me to tell me not to expect the delivery that day. They did not. I have ordered delivery from them a number of times before and did not experience this problem but once is enough to make me decide to take another option in the future. read more

I love Einstein bagels but if you have a service it needs to be available until you close. I walked in 20 minutes before closing to pick up a baker's dozen box for a class later. I was informed that they couldn't slice the bagels because their slicer was turned off. I.e. they had cleaned it and therefore were not willing to turn it back on to make the sale/provide customer service. Given that I was taking the order to an institution of learning, there was no way to bring a knife to cut them. I was offered a plastic knife before deciding against my purchase. When I got home to bring breakfast to my girlfriend, her bagels with butter had practically nothing on it, barley and butter. I drove back to the store and told them my complaint, they refunded me my purchase and remade the bagels with butter, but this time when I got home they were drowned in butter to the point where it was disgusting - butter was everywhere, my car my desk, dripping on the floor, my computer So I drove back yet again and complained, finally a manager went ahead and assisted me and made the bagels personally, apologized and gave a gift card for the convenient situation. As soon as I got to the store, I noticed a large group of people waiting outside. RED FLAG!!! I went ahead and placed my order for two breakfast Bagels. After ordering I proceeded to go outside to wait for my order being one more of this large group already waiting outside. While I was outside, I noticed frustrated customers going inside to ask in regards to the status of their order. I also observed order ahead menus not being taken into consideration. After 40 minutes of waiting, I went inside to ask for the status of my order. I noticed my order was on the counter with my name and I asked an employee. She said they had called my name, but It couldn't have been because I was waiting outside the whole time and never heard my name called. I realize the bagels were cold and the employee offered to remake them. Although it was a nice gesture, I still feel frustrated by the lack of systems there are in place at this location in order to ensure that everyone gets their order on time and with good quality. I am very upset in regards to the experience that I encountered today on a beautiful Saturday morning in San Diego. They often get my order WRONG (toasted bagel, with salmon). I've been charged the same as if I had ordered a complete bagel & lox sandwich. I've had the flustered employee call for the manager because they don't know what to charge for one bagel, toasted & buttered, and salmon... no tomato, no onion, no capers. It gets tiring! They are often very crowded, but that is mostly due to the extremely limited indoor seating. People that are lucky enough to find a chair and table space often have waiting customers standing awkwardly next to them with little room for movement. Then, there's the tricky outdoor parking. Limited number of spaces close to the door, and other cars are often driving through that area, making backing out of a spot a bit troublesome. There is plenty of parking if you go behind the building, but you rarely see security patrol there. However, I have seen homeless people now and then, knocking on car doors to ask for a handout or ask for money. Suggestions for this location: MOVE or redesign your space so that your employees don't have to work back to back, literally. This might lessen their stress and maybe they won't freak out when I ask for a buttered & toasted bagel with only some salmon in the middle.
