You can definitely find better bagels and coffee elsewhere, but what really left a bad taste in our mouths was the customer service. Most of the staff were friendly, but one employee who appeared to be the manager was surprisingly dismissive. My husband asked if they had liquid sugar for his iced coffee. Instead of answering the question, the employee pointed to a condiment station with granulated sugar and said, "Sugar is over there." My husband politely clarified that he was looking for liquid sugar since granulated sugar doesn't dissolve well in cold coffee. The employee simply pointed to the same station again and repeated, "Sugar is over there." If they don't offer liquid sugar, that's completely fine, a simple "Sorry, we don't carry it" would have answered the question. I came in around 8:45 to get the Monday baker's dozen special, but they didn't have any of the flavors I wanted. I looked in my app and saw I had an expiring birthday award for a free egg sandwich, so I decided to do that instead. I got the garden avocado egg sandwich on onion since they were out of everything bagels. I had to wait about 10 minutes because it was decently crowded, though there were still plenty of tables available because most people were taking their orders to go. I got the Classic Nova Lox bagel. I thoroughly enjoyed it...until I saw one of the employees wiping down the trash cans - ON TOP OF THE COUNTER where customers pick up their food. The parking lot can get a little crowded in this center even around lunch time (there's a bank and Spectrum Internet store but honestly a lot of people come for the bagels too). I found this location because I wanted a bagel and it's located directly off the 405fwy at Bellflower and it's super quick to get off the freeway, get a bagel and then get back on the freeway heading south. The bagels were good and fresh. I got the Lox bagel sanwhich and they were generous with the capers, tomato and onion and the smoked salmon tasted fresh. They burnt my Everything bagel when they toasted it which is a big pet peeve of mine tasting burnt bagel but I also got a poppy bagel toasted and that one was fine. They have pretzel bagels here which are soft/fluffy and very yummy. I like that you can get soda in plastic bottles to go in addition to the fountain drinks. When I was here I saw many people picking up their to-go orders that they ordered online from this shelf on the left side of the store which seemed very convenient! I got a bakers dozen earlier this week and my family and I truly enjoyed the bagels that we went back again this morning to order another bakers dozen. However, our experience earlier ended terribly because of an employee name Carlos whom mocked me while getting condiments on our way out. My husband noticed that he was staring at us the whole time we were in the counter, he then proceeded to go his colleagues started talking Spanish loudly saying mayonesa, with a smirk on his face! 4/13/2024, It's really becoming more disappointing Einstein Bagels in general and this restaurant isn't really any better for a couple reasons just to name a few. First off, I can understand why it's important that workers get paid more, I always felt like minimum wage really sucks. When I was working in San Jose California and Fremont California in 1982 at age 18 getting just $3.35 per hour minimum wage then a year later the rate was increased to $3.55 per hour, I felt like at least I could afford to pay for my college books and fees and eat out a bit more at McDonald's having three cheeseburgers instead of one. Although, I do feel that a minimum wage today in California at $20 is too low, it should be more like $40 per hour instead because even at $40 per hour you still can't afford to buy a home nor a new car let alone pay rent for an apartment at $2,500 to $3,500 per month. Given that the rents of apartments in California is totally ridiculously high, and the fact that buying a small 1,300 square foot old stucco home here is like $650k to $900k which is also a joke, I can understand why workers need to make higher wages if they want and need to remain living here in this state of California. Although, what I find disappointing is whenever the minimum wage increases the service doesn't get any better nor the food, in fact the menu prices increase each time the wages increase and/or any other type of costs increases for the business. Another thing is that the employees aren't much nicer nor more friendly to the customers although the workers are getting paid more. If you ever find yourself complaining about something wrong with your sandwich like when I told them that they forgot (once again) to add the bacon to my already priced increased Farmhouse breakfast sandwich, why should they get even a little bit upset or show in their face a bad attitude towards me when it was their fault for rushing and not preparing the sandwich properly? And is it my fault as a customer that I had to check my sandwich there in the restaurant and to look it over with suspicion that they forgot to add something that I am paying for? Secondly, the price of their large orange juice is now a very high price at $5.19 which isn't even fresh squeezed OJ. It's really just water sugar OJ. Not worth $5.19! Totally ridiculous! With the bad attitudes here and the higher prices on all their menu items, I really have to stop coming to this place despite the reward points for a free bagel or OJ that I get after so many visits. read more
