The Mojarra is so good. Fast service. Food was brought to our table in less than 15mins. Salsa and Doritos so good

After a great weekend at the Grand Prix, we decided to wind down on the Redondo Beach Pier and to grab something to eat. We spotted this place and decided to give it a try. The menu looks pretty good. The first hint of what was to come was the "salsa" for the tortilla chips. I don't know exactly what it was, but it isn't salsa in any book I know. The chips were OK. I ordered fish tacos and they were average. My friends ordered burritos and both said they were overstuffed with everything but the meat. They said the it lacked flavor. Service was OK, but we were the only ones in the joint. So maybe we caught them on a bad day. But overall, this place was below average. If you try this place, you may have a similar experience, but let's hope you have a superior one! read more

Sad to see people give this place bad reviews. Came in early on a Saturday, Had a brew, got some chips and salsa. Ordered a fish taco and a shrimp taco. The shrimp taco seemed good but it was the fish taco that blew my mind. I must say that I haven't had a lot of fish tacos in my life, either ways I was impressed. Fish was seasoned and cooked right. Just thinking about it makes me want one right now. I really wanted to stopped by again before I left town. I guess I'll just put it on my list of places to visit next time I'm in town. read more

Nice enough spot on the pier, and my friend and I got to sit outside, which was nice. And once I got the waiters' attention to ask for individual things, they were pretty good about it. But several points against them: -We got there pretty late in the afternoon, and they were admittedly busy, but food just took forever -- 4 fish tacos and a shrimp taco between the two of us, and it took a half hour, maybe 45 min for a to-go order. **NOTE: If you eat in the restaurant, they'll bring you chips and salsa while you wait. To go orders get the chips and salsa in the bag, and nothing while you wait. -My friend's shrimp taco included shrimp that weren't deveined and was barely cooked even after so long waiting. -Even the fish tacos were nothing spectacular. Came today to grab lunch. Small restaurant, decent prices and Mexican authenticity in flavor from 1-100% i'll probably say it hits around 60%, I mean taco bell hits a 5% so its ok. Yes they are busy, yes they take some time to bring your food, but it was overall OK. not bad and not expensive. waiter was friendly. ambient was fun with cool music and airy/bright overlooking the boats. Shrimp a la diabla were good, served with homemade beans and rice. Shrimp tacos were so so... not really pack with flavor, just shrimp topped with lettuce/tomatoes in a corn tortilla... Maybe i will come back to grab a chicken burrito next time im at the pier. read more

This is a tiny place. The service was quick and the servers were friendly. The veggie quesadillas were bland and so was the guacamole. The best thing about my visit was the 2 corona Micheladas (Clamato juice, lime juice, Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce) I had. read more

It was great!! The seafood ceviche was up to my liking, and the price is lower than any of those stands and restaurants cocktail huge portion!!!! The guy who's the waiter, cashier was awesome! He was fast, courteous and friendly!! And the beer was ice cold!! Yay!!! And the bathroom here was very clean!! First time here and we loved it!!!! read more

The most AUTHENTIC and tastiest Mexican food in the South Bay for sure. I moved to Redondo Beach a little over half a year ago and I've been to dozens and dozens of Mexican restaurants in the area. This is my absolute favorite one. Yes it's not fancy inside, but I don't eat there, I take my food to go. Also their guac is on point. Go check it out. read more

This place is very rude a disservice! My family and I went here and we were very hungry at the time, but the shrimp cocktail was appaling. The shrimp still had legs on them and weren't cleaned very well. The guy who walks around like he is the Boss didn't even acknowledge that we were there majority of the time. When it came time to pay, he hadn't asked if the food was good or not because maybe he already knows....lol. The best thing about this place is the beer, and that wasn't even cold on tap...IDGA*....get it right or shut it down. Horrible service and even worst food. read more

My daughter was starving and thirsty after a beach play date, and I figured we could grab a couple of tacos here real quick-like. We were planning on ordering to-go - but they said it'd be 15 minutes, so we opted to eat there and have something to drink and chips and salsa, since we had to wait anyway. It took the waitress forevvvvvvver to come to our table, I had to ask for water, which took her forevvvvvver to bring, then I had to ask for chips and salsa... you get the idea. The woman had zero sense of urgency. None. They were busy, true, but understaffed, and she didn't even have a little bit of hustle in her. She did not appear overwhelmed or tired - she just behaved as though she didn't give a single shit. We finally ordered some tacos - how long can those take, right? - and waited. And waited. And waited. People were being served and leaving as we continued to wait. It took over 30 min for a few lousy tacos -- And speaking of lousy tacos! I didn't know it was possible to royally fuck up tacos, but these folks somehow managed to do it. No seasoning whatsoever, not even salt and pepper! They came with some bland, watery salsa verde, which didn't help. We dumped what remained of the red table salsa on them (because, although runny and not wonderful, at least it had some flavor) and that couldn't even save them. My daughter ate 1/2 of one (she'd ordered two) and declared them to be too disgusting to eat. Admittedly, I'm a tiny bit of a Mexican food snob. But these guys aren't even making an effort. After we left, my daughter asked how people like that even have jobs! I just had to laugh. We'll stick with what we know on the pier from now on. I'm so tired of this B.S. tourist trap crap food around here. read more

Horrible experience! It took over an hour for us to get our food and the place wasn't even crowded. They only gave us one napkin each(what's up with that?!) once our food came is was tasteless, and the meat didn't taste fresh. Not only that we got sick and we spent most of our night in the bathroom. read more

I literally only came here for chips and salsa and guacamole. It was good, spicy enough and creamy enough for the two dips. Nothing to write home about, but I liked the location on the pier and I look forward to going back and trying some of the other delicious food that I saw other people eating. read more

Well I have to say it took me a really long time to find a great and worthy restuant like this. It has become a family restaurant for us. The food is authentic,delicious, and fresh. I have eaten here a few times now and have enjoyed everything I've ordered. I've had the chicken burrito, various tacos, and shrimp enchiladas and all have great flavor. Chips are not greasy and salsa is smoother than I'd like, but still good. It's a small place but we have never had to wait for a table. My friend and I went for a long walk and were hungry afterwards. We have walked by this restaurant several times & finally decided to stop. Sure happy we did! Best place on the pier to get some great mexican food. The place is kinda small, but the after I took a bite from the chicken tacos, I ordered 10 more after that. So freaking good. Been coming here for years and I always have a good time. I recommend the Shrimp Quesadilla its fresh and tasty. Also they carry ALL the beers from Mexico to Brazil I recommend expanding your pallet and trying a few, there staff is very knowledgeable about helping you pick out a beer. El Baja Chef on the Redondo Pier has the best shrimp cocktails!... the right mixture of shrimp and fresh avocado in a delicious marinade. Love it! Two steak tacos are enough to feed you and a friend...Very friendly...they make you feel like family! And great service, too. I would highly recommend this place. read more

I went out here with my girl looking for something good to eat and made the mistake of coming into this place. It started out ok with a beer and chips, we should've ended it there. I ordered the butter shrimp and my lady the bacon wrapped shrimp. There was a huge long hair on the shrimp and rice on her plate! We were both disgusted. Should've immediately left after that. Tried eating some but didn't sit well any longer. Worst experience and horrible stomach ache for both of us the next morning which waking up for work sucked. i am still in pain.
