    Shrimp Taco

My husband and I are RB Pier regulars of many years, but have never tried El Baja Chef. We decided today was the day! Very cute atmosphere and friendly, happy-to-be-there employees. I got two shrimp tacos and a Coke, my husband got a fish taco and a carnitas taco. All were pretty good; nothing to write home about and a little pricey ($37 total), but a good quick and fresh lunch. I don't see us becoming frequent customers solely due to the price, but I definitely want to stop by now-and-then to sample the other dishes they have to offer (the shrimp ceviche looks divine)!

This was the old a** avocado in my shrimp cocktail. And I had to fish for my shrimp because there wasn't much in there.

It could be a good place. There's like 5 TV'S with pictures of food that they sell. Every F 'n wall has pictures of food that they sell. There's very little atmosphere, no music playing , a rotten slice of avocado in our shrimp cocktail. Good thing. We're by the ocean, because I had to fish for shrimp. There was barely any in the shrimp cocktail. I spent a $100 on 4 items and some cokes. You would think they would put $5 worth of shrimp in a shrimp cocktail? I'm not feeling the love. The value and the atmosphere put into this Mexican restaurant. That's enough. They don't wanna step it up. There's plenty of other Mexican restaurants. You can go to. P S this was family approved

No food..just drinks...this needs no description...beautifully done ice cold celada topped with a beer and jumbo shrimp...just the perfect presentation in a glass...just ONE though ...safe room for what's to come!!'

Had a great experience, yummy food, and great service! Met the owner and he was very welcoming, will definitely be coming back! Great location with a view of the ocean !

Fish and chips plate, $16.99. Find the chips! They're very similar in size and shape to the fries which makes it a game that no one wins!

Fish and chips plate, $16.99. Find the chips! They're very similar in size and shape to the fries which makes it a game that no one wins! Bur seriously, the quantity was terrible. The fish was just 2 strips cut in half. They should have named this the chips and goldfish plate. The quality was, as the kids say, mid. I made the mistake of avoiding the restaurants with long lines and eating here because it was empty. Well, there's a reason it was empty. Just wait the 30-45 minutes at one of the real restaurants at the pier. Trust me.

Fish and chips top left. Center shrimp ceviche. Ceviche is made to order.

Fresh shrimp ceviche. We also had the fish and chips that were huge and yummy. Wish they were open later. We got there just in time to sit, but then they turned a couple of groups away that wanted to sit and eat. They also have aguas frescas.

Great authentic Mexican food. Original recipes, fresh home made tortillas and very tasty fish tacos. Good vibes and great customer service. Rice, beans and salsa is on point...

Everything tasted incredibly fresh and perfectly seasoned. We ordered the carne asada and carnitas, and both were amazing. The meat was tender, flavorful, and not fatty at all just perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. My daughter had the bean and cheese burrito with rice and beans and loved it too. They bring out three different salsas with the chips, and each one had its own unique flavor. You can tell the chips are house-made because they're fresh, crisp, and just really good. Some Mexican restaurants can make things overly salty, but everything here tasted balanced and fresh. I also had a Paloma and it was made perfectly. Before we left we decided to try the churros and I'm so glad we did. They were filled with this amazing cream and came with a caramel sauce for dipping. I'm not usually a big dessert person, but these were seriously incredible. Great location, great service, amazing food, and everything tasted fresh and well made. We will definitely be back!

The food was really good, there were some that I liked more than others but definitely a solid place for authentic Mexican

Prices are reasonable, and the views are as good as they get with unobstructed views of the harbor all the way to Palos Verdes. The restaurant is clean, new, and TVs with sports even in the dining room (perfect for watching World Cup matches while dining). The only critique I'd offer is I wish they didn't use the end pieces of the loaf of bread for french toast--made the pieces tough. But the other breakfast items were great, as were the salsa, guac, and tortilla chips. What a gem to have in Redondo, especially for it being reasonably priced and accessible (wasn't a problem getting a reservation). Hope this place can stay busy enough to stick around for a while.

The margaritas tasted like dirty water completely watered down with no flavor at all. They were honestly some of the worst we've ever had. If you decide to come here, I'd recommend sticking with a beer and maybe a quesadilla, since those are pretty hard to mess up. It's really disappointing that every part of our experience fell short, because I would have gladly given a higher rating if there had been at least one standout. Sadly, there just wasn't

The Guacamole was very tasty but there was not a lot of it with the order (4 star). The Corn ribs were really good with a nice BBQ sauce (5 star). The food here is really good. They do a very good job of not only sourcing high quality ingredients, but preparing each dish with a very nice presentation. In terms of atmosphere, this is a large restaurant. They have numerous interior tables, as well as some exterior tables, as well. They also have a very nice bar area. Their seating is all very well spaced so you never feel like you're sitting too close to any other customer. This gives you the space to feel comfortable having conversations with whomever you're with. On certain night in the evening, they actually bring in a band. Not your traditional mariachi band or anything like that. But, a band that performs some really interesting takes on both traditional and modern Latin music. The staff here are all super nice. They're happy to help you out with whatever you need. And, they do a really good job doing their job. The dry chilies, sesame seeds, nuts, Oaxacan chocolate, and herbs provide a velvety sauce for the chicken picadillo. The darkly hued Mole Coloraditos has a little bit of a spicy kick from its toasted chilies, nuts, sesame seeds, chocolate, tomatoes, and spices. It's hard not to use the shredded beef enchilada to swab the plate clean. I would seriously lick the plate clean if I was at home. OK, the last one isn't a mole. The Salsa Verde is tangy from its tomatillos, green chilies, onions and garlic. The crumbly chorizo and cheese enchilada is comforting.
