This place is great. Friendly servers as soon as we walk in. The aesthetic is very traditional and lively The food is always delicious every time we go. It always taste fresh always come into the table at the right temperature. Never have any complaints The service is always over the top very friendly. Some of the best Mexican food in Sonoma County in my opinion. The flavor on the Carne asada is one of the best.

Ordered on the phone for pickup. Ordered: - shrimp burrito with refried beans, no burrito sauce on top - combo plate with 1 chicken enchilada and sope gordo carne asada - guacamole with chips - horchata - tamarindo Food was very very good!! Worth the price in my opinion! You get a lot! We got to our spot and opened the bags to 4 bags of chips, a hefty container of guacamole and perfectly foil wrapped burrito plate and combo plate!

2 dry soft tacos steak. Really good bean dip with chips/salsa

I was gonna order a beer but it was $9 for a draft. I asked for a bottle Corona. It was $9 as well. That is highway robbery. Nice people good service. But steak in my tacos being dry on a Saturday afternoon, I will not be coming back. Call me cheap but just ridiculous pricing, I'd imagine that is why there is not one person in here at 3 pm on Saturday

Loved everything about this restaurant! I didn't know Sebastopol had it like this! HA! I was tardy to the party! I HIGHLY recommend for authentic delicious Mexican food! The service is very friendly and welcoming. They make you feel like family. It's large and beautiful inside, good for a large party, I would totally want my birthday dinner here! lovely pictures on the wall , the chairs and tables all beautiful! I love the aesthetic. Felt like I was fine dining in Mexico, (mind you I never been to Mexico) (lol) Food was sooo good!!! The menu is great, many things to choose from. I ordered the 1 item combo plate w/shredded chicken, green enchilada that came with rice and beans. Tasted so fresh!! My first bite literally warmed my soul!! Also, complimentary chips w/ refried bean dip & 2 different salas was yummmy! My friend got the chicken tortilla soup (it's huge) and said this is what you call real soup! was the best she ever had!! The broth was bursting with flavor and it was full of veggies. They gave us a little dessert. Not sure what it was called but it was delicious!! I WILL BE BACK!!!

A Delicious Detour in Sebastopol While on a day trip north of San Francisco, we took a detour into Sebastopol for lunch. El Coronel was right there, and it looked like a good option because we had our little puppy with us. It was a beautiful afternoon, and they had outdoor seating available. El Coronel Mexican Restaurant was founded by Armando Coronel in 2002 and has been a part of Sebastopol's culinary scene since then. It has been a family-run operation for over two decades and serves tasty Mexican cuisine. El Coronel is known for their sizzling fajitas, delicious combinations, flavorful tacos, and burritos. They have a beautiful patio with a complete outdoor bar. The interior is beautifully designed and looks comfortable for individuals and small and larger groups. We started with an order of Guacamole, their House Margarita, and Hibiscus Tea. The Guacamole was freshly made, and there was plenty of it! We enjoyed the combination of fresh guacamole and chips. The drinks were good, too. We decided to share a Parrillada (which means Grilled in English) for the main dish. There was plenty of food. The meats (Beef, Pork, and Chicken) were all fresh, done right, and flavorful. It came with a plate of rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream, and fresh tortillas. I could not leave without trying their flan and was very happy I didn't! It was one of the better flans I have had in a while. The staff was very attentive and friendly. A gentleman, who I think may have been the owner or manager, stopped by our table and asked how we were doing. He was very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our experience, and as we left, I made a mental note to come back and try their Molcajete! It looked very good!

The servers greeted me with a smile and told me to seat myself. The ambiance is great, with Mexican music and beautiful, colorful decor. The food was served within 10-15 minutes and it was HUGE! I did not expect it to be so piled high! It was fresh food with delicious carne asada. Definitely, will be back to try other dishes.

We had not been to El Coronel Mexican Restaurant in a long time and decided to stop. It was midday and not busy. We received great customer service and a large basket of chips, two salsas and a bean dip. All were yummy. My wife and I were amazed at the 4 item combo prices of $20.95! Wow, that is a great value. There is no way we could eat more than two but we like leftovers. We both ordered the 4 item combo and not surprisingly for us, we each had two Chile rellenos. My wife had a tamale and tostada and I had a cheese enchilada and chicken tamale. They had to bring our food on two plates. We really are fans of Chile Rellenos and were looking forward to these. They did not disappoint but they also did not wow us. The peppers tasted nice and fresh but the batter was really thin and there was too much cheese and it overwhelmed everything else. Don't get me wrong, it was good but not great. I would order again just not make a special trip to go there. The rest of the food was the same, good but not great. The value you get for so much food was great! We had a lot of leftovers and enjoyed them the next day. We will keep them on our list as they serve good quality food and the service was great.

I ordered 2 carnitas tacos with a side of rice and beans. They gave me enough for three people. I have never seen such a large plate of Mexican food before. Also, they gave me a generous amount of meat. The price of my meal was around $18. While we waited, they served us a big bowl of thin, crispy chips with a side of tasty salsa. I felt quite full after eating these chips. My sister ordered a taco plate too. She gave me some of her taco that had mango bits on top. My husband ordered a taco salad. It was not crowded at all when we visited. Then again, the restaurant was so spacious that it's nearly impossible for it to get too crowded. Besides the food, I enjoyed how they didn't have glass windows. You can see the street clearly and people passing by. I was hesitant to review this restaurant because I don't want it to get so packed that I have to wait one hour to get a seat. If this La Rosa were located in the East Bay, it would get packed fast! I'm glad it's in a city where nobody really visits. You won't regret visiting. I hope to visit again in the near future when I am in the area.

A great casual spot for some tasty mexican food…read more I typically order the carne asada tacos. I like that they are more "street style" type tacos and come with the radishes, onions, and a hot pepper. There is a salsa bar where you can get your own salsa/pickled veggies. The green salsa is my favorite, it's light and refreshing. I also like getting a plate of their refried beans, which are very buttery and pair well with the chips and salsa as a dip.

When you're ready to pay, the portable payment terminal shows only the final total, without an itemized breakdown of the charges. If you pay by credit card, a 3% processing fee is added. I have no issue with the fee itself. My problem is that the sales tax is calculated on the total after the fee is added. The credit card fee should have nothing to do with the tax amount. Additionally, the suggested tip amounts are also calculated based on the total that includes both the sales tax and the credit card fee. Most customers expect tip percentages to be based on the pre-tax cost of the food and drinks. As a result, you end up giving a lot higher tip than you intended to. Because the payment screen does not show an itemized bill, it's very difficult to verify the charges or calculate a custom tip unless you remember the exact prices of everything you ordered. I hate when a restaurant's billing practice isn't transparent to customers.

The menu has a nice variety of dishes from breakfast items to salads, molcajetes, tortas, quesadillas, chimichangas, seafood, and other traditional entrees. I ordered my regular Rafa's burrito with whole black beans (hold the sour cream). This burrito comes with three kinds of meat (grilled chicken, carne asada, and carnitas). My friend ordered the shrimp tostada with a side of guacamole. I was excited to take a bite of my burrito but when I did, I noticed it didn't taste like what I remembered. It was dry and the cook may have forgotten to add the guacamole and cheese. In the past I had always requested they hold the sour cream so this order was no different. My friend enjoyed every bite of her shrimp tostada so I was happy she had a good first visit to this cozy Mexican restaurant. The ambiance is festive and pleasant, the interior is clean. They have their own parking lot and a few tables outside. The lady at the counter is very cordial and sweet.
