Place is renamed to Guacamole Mexican Grill - friendly staff got here around 930a and got sat right away and food came out within minutes. The chorizo potato is exactly what I look for when I order it at other restaurants soft potatoes but strong chorizo flavor 5/5! The Barbacoa was good very little grease great portion 4.5/5! I had ordered bean and cheese they brought me chorizo and bean add the chorizo bean to the Barbacoa taco and it's 10/10! By itself it's good and flavorful 4 out of 5! read more

The whole point of a drive thru is that it's fast and efficient, if you're in line at the drive thru for 20+ minutes then you defeat the whole purpose and there's no reason for it! I just want to thank Julio the manager for saving me from a lot of trouble. I had lunch here and forgot my purse. I didn't notice til after they closed. My friend just happened to tell me they are the same owners as Poblanos in downtown which I love. So I thought maybe they know each other. I call my friend to say what happened. A short time later I have Julio's number and call/text him. He calls me back and gives me instructions on how to get the attention of the guy inside the restaurant. I guess he was cleaning. I get there, honk and see him peeking out the window. I run up and tell him the story. We get Julio on the phone and he guides us to the lock box where the waitress put my purse. We get it open and there's my purse sealed up in a plastic bag, untouched and safe in the lock box. Any other place and my purse would have been looked through with valuables missing or totally gone. The extra effort to help me is greatly appreciated especially since I'm going out of town in two days. By the alway the pork chop and eggs with beans and potatoes were delicious. Not many restaurants will honor you requesting an enchilada plate at 8 am, but this place ALLOWS you to. With that being said I'm pretty sure you'll love all their menu, but their breakfast menu has a variety of items from delicious huevos rancheros to tacos such as bean and cheese. They have drinks such as tea, dr. pepper, coffee and orange juice to start off your day. Bathrooms are clean and the parking is expansive (parking in back and in front). If you are up for a small desert treat before you walk out try the candy by the cash register, my favorite is leche quemada. read more

My first visit was today for lunch. I got the Thursday lunch special; fajita plate. For less that $7 I got the mixed, chicken and beef fajitas, charro beans, guacamole and pico with an ice tea. The food was very good. I really liked the charro beans. On the way out I bought a little (8 cookies) package of hojarascas. And these cookies are fantastic. The #14 is the best of both worlds, cheese enchilada and beef fajitas on the side with rice and beans. The daily lunch specials are also great. On my last visit I tried cilantro cream enchiladas mostly because I love cilantro and they turned out to be a good choice. My friend was in the mood for breakfast and ordered migas, I had never tried the breakfast here but I tasted the migas and they were cheesy deliciousness. Las Cazuelas is a family habit for us - It's a hit or miss depending on how busy it is and what cooks are working, but we just keep showing up. The menudo is red and usually packed with hominy, second only to one other restaurant in the area. If a hot bowl of menudo with a classic side of onions, lemon, and fresh flour tortillas is what you seek, you will enjoy your meal. It's rare that I assign a rating for a specific meal but there are so many places that claim to have the best menudo, I want to do Las Cazuelas justice for their recipe, so they're getting 4 stars. My other regular dish is their decently-priced Huevos Rancheros, and when they have it available on daily special, spicy Green Enchiladas for lunch. In general, I would say we've been pleased with their service, though they've definitely had their struggles. If you're heading in on a weekend, avoid the noisy crowds and long wait times by getting in line before 10:30am or waiting till 2pm after the lunch rush. Once you hit that rush, especially on Sundays after church lets out, expect a 20-30 minute wait or more for larger parties. They have plenty of seating but also plenty of loyal locals! The service was great. The ambiance was nice, and overall, it looked clean and tidy. However, the food was lacking flavor, and for being a special of the day, it was probably a bit higher in price that MOST South side restaurants and diners. I had the calabasa cón pollo that came with iced tea for $10.99. It's not a bad price, but this is a fave of mine that I've had at other local spots for $2-$3 less thay are just as good if not better. I think it started with the fact that I asked for chips and salsa, which I was informed were at a cost, not on the house like most other restaurants in the area. The chips were thin, a bit greasy, and not salted. So, not too much crunch or zest. The salsthat came with it was unsalted and more like a ranchers sauce that on huevis rancheros. It was soupy, with strands of onions and flavorless. I personally like salsas that have more thickness, zest, and spicy flavor. I will be totally honest and say that the waitress made it clear that I wasn't being charged for them, and I didn't even ask or mention anything about it. No complaining. I think she could see that we didn't even put a dent in the chips or salsa. Again, great service. I probably won't be going back with so many options in the area unless I hear through the grapevine that something special is being served up there that people are talking about. read more

We gave our name to be seated and were skipped by 4 parties. The owner finally noticed that he skipped us and seats us and apologizes. Then we get to the table and sit down for about 10 min and nobody ever approaches us to take our order. We go to the front to tell the owner and he yells at me and says they are busy which we understood but the people that got seated before us already had drinks and placed their food orders. The owner was extremely rude and raised his voice which I did not like one bit!! I enjoyed coming here but will NEVER be back here again. For the appetitizer, we had chips and salsa. They both came out warm and delicious. I ordered the beef fiesta enchiladas. It was beef fajitas with grilled onions wrapped in a flour tortilla and covered with chile con queso. It was delicious. The beef fajita was tender and there was just the right amount of onions. I used to go here all the time with my grandparent's when I was younger & I loved the service & the food. Then I got older & now have my own family & wanted to bring my wife here as well. After not going back for about 2 years, we gave it another try. We got there & my wife gave the hostess her name & let her know it was for 2. She told us it would be a bout a 15 minute wait. We said okay & stood right outside the door & waited. Small parties kept arriving after us & doing the same. 20 minutes passed & I noticed that the 4 small parties that arrived AFTER us had already been called & seated. So I go back in to see the hostess & ask how much longer the wait for us would be. She looked at her clip board & I saw it too. Our name was scratched off and so were the 4 parties after us. I pointed to the name & told her that was us. She rudely said "Well, I must've called your name & got no answer." I laughed & said "No you didn't, we were standing right outside the door." & she continued with "Well it's scratched off bc no one answered." & again I said "NO, you didn't call us. I was standing right there." & instead of apologizing, she said "you can just sit at table 9." & she walked off. I was so upset. My car was vandalized while my car sat in the parking lot. I posted pics. I was there for 2 hours with a party of 20 while we celebrated a family birthday. After the police were called, management seemed to not want to deal with my episode as they stood at the front door and stared. I'm presuming this is a frequent thing for them since they had an incompetent man walking the lot with a reflective vest. Even he didn't want to come speak with my family and stated he thought it was like that when we arrived. I'm guessing the shattered glass gave him no clue. I visited the restaurant again this afternoon to see if they could assist with my damages while being on their property and the manager said they do not assist with things like that. So apparently they are okay with taking your family's money but not assisting their patrons in return. As for the service, C-. The waitress, Enriquetta, seemed to care less about our experience even though we were there with a large party. I knew it was going to be a bad experience when I asked for chips n salsa and she said, 'Oh, we charge for those', and walked away. Needless to say, we bought 5 baskets. The food took forever, about an hour, and when it arrived many of the plates were incomplete. Most importantly, the beans were bland and the rice had no flavor. Don't spend your money at this joint. The place has been my oldie but goodie for years. I grew up in that neighborhood and when I worked downtown we used to make the drive out there for the enchiladas and fideo. It is cheap and I appreciate a cheap lunch with a big portion of food. I've have read all the reviews and I agree with the service not being consistent but the food has always been consistent. Breakfast, lunch and catering is always good ... now is it the best?? Unfortunately no not the best it is just A-Ok. It is a small place that packs in the tables so it can be noisy. Service is never rude just not on top of refills or coming back after they drop off the food to make sure everything is good. Wasn't happy with my last two visits. Just like Erica M. mentions the weiners and egg taco was missing the "s" in weiners. But also the tacos looked smaller. My big beef is that when I went to the register to pay I noticed a charge and then a credit. They explained that the they charged us for 2 waters and then refunded just one water. I asked them to remove it because we were also buying drinks and I didn't remember seeing a notice that water wasn't free. Again on my last visit they pulled the water charge on us again and I am just really annoyed with it. Does anyone know of any places that charge for water? My husband and I decided to try this place for breakfast for the first time. It took some time for someone to take our order since our table waitress was "busy". My Ranchero plate came out hot and eggs were made to order. The ranchero sauce was Ok, nothing special. I think it needed a little more spice to add flavor. We had ordered a chicharron taco, which never came out. I had to remind the waitress and she went to get it. It came out hot but the sauce needed a bit more flavor as well. I got a cazuelas plate it was a fajita plate that had one enchilada rice and beans with the salad and it had one scoop of avocado that looked like it was refried beans and a very rude manager as well. My sister went to go pickup the food and they didn't give her the food upon arrival I had to call in order for them to give my sister the food and by the time she got the food it was already about an hour and a half from when we called and ordered it. Great food, and good service at reasonable prices. My favorites are Huevos Rancheros, and Chile Rellenos. My wife loves the picadillo tacos, on both soft and crispy tortillas. Laz Cazuelas is definitely inconsistent (as you may have noticed in my 3rd paragraph). I know that they could do much better in all their aspects as a restaurant. Sometimes the food is great while other times it is not that great. Sometimes the service is outstanding and other times it is not good at all. This is why I hate places like this. The inconsistency is something to work on. I complained about this and it was corrected both times. -Hot oatmeal is not served on the weekend.....why not? -Coffee is not re-filled as often like it should, waitresses are forgetful. -Restaurant opens when they feel like it. One day I made a special trip over there to grab some breakfast tacos before work just to come and find they were not open yet, 25 mins AFTER their posted supposed open time. This a cute little place off of I-35 near Division Ave. It is a great place to stop and get a quick breakfast or lunch. If memory serves correctly, they do not offer dinner. They close at about 4 or so? I'll have to check and then update this review but anyways... The migas are good. They'll continue to serve breakfast during lunch hours.
