I'm writing a review of this place in response to the long wait lines at other Bishop Arts/Zang blvd morning spots. Ok yes, El Jordan is not a to see and be seen place...yep that is why I like it. If you catch yourself waiting in line at one of the other spots, ask yourself "why am I standing here waiting when I could be eating now?" head over to El Jordan. I've only had breakfast here. It is no frills delicious breakfast with warm corn or flour tortillas (yum) or biscuits that are flaky and yummy. Stop standing in line and head over to El Jordan during the weekend especially. read more

I've only been for breakfast, but I've been many times because I live in the neighborhood. I almost always get migas with roasted potatoes and beans. It fills me up, and everything on the plate is outstanding. Very nice waitstaff, too. Good coffee that the waitstaff is always happy to refill. I hope they stick around for a long time. read more

We have come here a couple of times on Saturday for breakfast. The huevos a la Mexicana are very good and they use fresh jalapenos instead of pickled. The salsa is homemade and very flavorful. It is a lot of food for a very reasonable price. It is a small place in a historical building. Very quaint. read more

A really really great place. The salsa, my goddess the salsa... its divine. Waitress was friendly, the food was well priced. I went in once with barely any money and was still able to eat heartily via the awesome breakfast tacos (potato & egg were huge!) $1.50 each, and this was after 2pm mind you. Delicious, real food. A great place to have lunch, take a cheap afternoon date, or show your Yankee friends some good tex-mex. I found this wonderful place in 1995 when I moved to Oak Cliff, I went back today with the grandchildren after 10 years....... The SAME. Food is still the best. Yes this place is slow. Yes you should understand that before going there however the cheese enchiladas are incredible. Before ordering the cheese enchiladas please ensure the following: One you have the next two days off work and two you have someone to drive you home. Point blank they are the best enchiladas in Dallas and will put anyone to sleep which considering they are not open for dinner puts you in bed around 3 to 4 o clock. This cafe was my son's 1st restaurant experience when he was a few days old. The same employees/owners are there and comment on how big he's getting (@ age 7). This place is a Bishop Arts time capsule. I pretty much come here for the same dish again and again - migas a la Mexicana con chorizo with a side of salsa and a coffee for less than $10. I love this place. I started off with an Agua de Horchata and it was like iced Heaven. The food was very low priced for the quantity and quality. It has a small, local restaurant charm complete with waiter/waitress interactions in half English/half Spanish. The service was a tiny bit slow and my girlfriend got the wrong breakfast brought to her (huevos rancheros, I believe... still delicious) so I'm docking a star from the rating. Still, I highly recommend stopping here for a great breakfast or lunch (I believe it's closed at dinnertime). read more

Oh. My. Gosh. Just thinking of their chorizo and egg tacos makes my mouth water! I never get tired of these things. We always go on the weekend and it is packed but we rarely have to wait for a seat. They are only open the first half of the day... Wish their hours were all day. Check this place out if you like a home cooked Mexican meal! El Jordan Café is always a good option for lunch. As far as I know, they are still not open for dinner (my only complaint). Pretty standard Tex-Mex fare. I usually order the sour cream chicken enchiladas...and they are always good. They also have Mexican Coke, which is a positive. read more

It's homely and it's all the better for it. A family business this is. The folk here are nice and friendly. The decor and interior small and old. A different place from all the other boutique eateries in bishop arts. I usually get the bacon and cheese omelette but the others I've tried, the pork chop and migas weren't bad either. The omelette comes with a nice heaping of refried beans and potatoes and does it fill you up. Is it the best food you're going to eat? No, but I'll be damned if it doesn't remind me of home cooking and dare anyone to say it doesn't. read more

this is my first "one star" review. sorely dissapointed in this place. we asked for chips and salsa twice and never got it. they brought us salsa but NO CHIPS! we figured they just didn't have chips which would be odd for a Mexican restaurant. my friend had the cheese enchiladas because of the D Magazine review but they were flavorless. i had migas mexicana but would have to say they were really dry. the refried beans were the best thing on the plate. i finally got some flour tortillas and they were not homemade. bummer. as we were walking out the door we saw a table who had chips...... :( read more

Although EJC isn't perfect, they own the breakfast taco game (called burritos on the menu). For sub $2/taco, they can't be beat.

I wish this place had been better. My boyfriend and I went in for lunch, he ordered menudo and I got cheese enchiladas. His menudo was okay, the first time I got my enchiladas they were cold. After asking them to heat it up (which they did), they were average at best. Rice and beans had little flavor. Waitress did not refill our waters while we were there, but the chips and salsa were good. Maybe we ordered wrong or it was an off day, but overall very disappointing. read more

First of all I'm definitely not a "newbie" to the OC. We have been going to Jordan for over 16 years through the good and the bad. The wait staff sometimes is overwhelmed but you if you frequent the place they begin asking you about the family and your mom etc. You need to ask for chips and salsa if it's before 11:00. If you are going to try something American get the pancake special. Enormous pancakes and great portions enough to share. Can't go wrong with the price! If you are going to try something "ethnic" get the menudo it's the best next to your Mexican momma's. The chorizo plate is also delish. If you happen by a couple times a month you will see that they aren't rude just really busy. read more
