We came here for dinner. On the outside, the place seems very dark and you wonder what is inside. The decor is nice. However, I felt the food was a little over priced. It has been hard finding an authentic Mexican place. The enchilada was decent, but besides that, I wouldn't go out my way to go here. It was a bit noisy at the bar but the servers are very nice, food was tasty, and everything went very well. The food is priced right. Love the corn tortillas which are thick and taste like they are homemade. The fajitas and guac were excellent. We found the enchiladas to be very salty. The salsa is super spicy but very good. My first time. Wasn't sure what to expect. We were looking for Mexican but weren't feeling our usual spots. I like one place for this and she likes one place for that and the kids didn't want either place. So I mentioned I saw this place where Florentine's used to be. Said it's different? Oddly the 4 of us all agreed. I was calling it Don Miguel's (I don't know why). We get there and they were making fun of me for calling it something no where near the name. The wife saw the mustache logo and was sold. We went inside it was loud which we liked...they were playing Sublime, which was cool. They had several tv's playing different shows all sports and game shows. Service was good and very friendly. I had the carnitas it was juicy and good flavor. I recommend ordering the optional jalapeños. They are fresh sliced and grilled with the seeds in them. Came with a glob of fresh guacamole and I prefer flour tortillas. It wasn't the hugest portions ever served but was sizable even for me. The plates themselves aren't the big ovals most Mex Joints disillusion their guests with. They put a lot into presentation here and I appreciated it. It didn't look like Abuelita and Socorro were slopping orders onto plates in the back. Beans n rice comes on a 2nd plate with a proper portion. Again that means small to many gordos y gordas out there. The boy had Chile Colorado. It was too spicy for him and he is a regular consumer of things spicy. So he traded with mom for her Chile Verde chimichanga. Everyone was still happy. The girl had a rice n bean burrito. Everyone ate everything up. You know what? We had room for dessert. We had the fried ice cream. They shouldn't call it that. They need to call it the Mexican It's It. Layered ice cream and whipped cream between cinnamon sugar tosadas. With sauce and all that. Hella good! My wife said the peach margaritas were like candy I had a taste. It was good but I don't drink margaritas so don't take my word for it. But she had two. The bill was no more expensive than taking my family to any other sit down restaurant around here. I did feel the food was higher quality. The service was higher quality. They did not even provide salt and pepper shakers on the tables. If you do not know what that means...Google it. Yes there are many taqueria's around with the same dishes at a lower price point. This is not a taqueria. This is a place when you want Mexican but something different. I came across this place after going to a dress fitting at the bridal shop next door. The food was a bit pricey for a Mexican place. I ordered the Mahi Mahi, which came to grilled vegetables and rice. The grilled vegetables were really yummy. The Mahi Mahi could have used more flavor. I also ordered 2 tamales to go, and they didn't look like tamales. Service was not the greatest either. read more

I love El Maestro! The food here is so good! I've eaten so many different things here and they're all good! Here's the list of great food I've tried: pozole, tostadas, crispy tacos, Chile Rellanos, red & green sauce enchiladas, the carne asada entree plate and the burrito. Been coming here for years before it was El Maestro. Miss one of out favorite waitresses Lily but Blanca is still there. Recently visited for dinner with a friend and service was horrible. Alma was our waitress we had to flag her down to order, never refilled my water and had to flag her down to pay! My new favorite Mexican place! Tried the sope, it was exceptional and I'm a sope connoisseur. Shrimp taco was the best shrimp taco I've ever had and I know my shrimp and fish tacos. First time here, they definitely need help in the kitchen, but it was well worth the wait..my sope was huge the crust was finger licking good, green Chile enchilada yummy and a Chile rellanos. My family and I tried out this place yesterday it was about 8pm and they had out door dine and it was just about the only place still open to eat at. As soon as we got there there was some people eating and having drinks but very quiet no music playing nothing. We got seated and we had to wait for a bit to get asked what we wanted to drink finally got our drinks and we were all done with our drinks before we got asked what we wanted to eat. That's how long they were taking and it's not like they were very busy either. Once we ordered what we wanted we still had to wait for like 40 minutes to get our food my kids were over it we were over it I was ready to just get up and leave but since we had waited that long already might as well wait a bit longer. Once we got the food the meals were ok. I got myself for enchiladas and they tasted alright too much dough for my taste so I just ate the chicken from the inside the rice and beans were good. My husband got fajitas and he said those were pretty good as well and as far as my kids they got the bean burrito and they were fine with it. Also I had asked for a refill on my drink and they said the charge for refills it just seemed to me that this restaurant will try and make any money possible. Their soft tacos were 7 bucks as well and let me tell you they weren't nothing special a basic taco for 7 bucks they were just over priced but their drinks seemed to be an ok price so I felt the vibe of more of a place to just have drinks at and get an appetizer. To top it off just about when we were fed up with the place m these young kids come to have drinks being so obnoxious and loud it's just not a place probably where I'd like to go again at least not to have a dinner night with my family. read more

We used to come here when it was still Casa Lupe, we liked that place a lot but we LOVE El Maestro. The food is soooo good and has so much flavor. I love the enchiladas suizas with chicken. I have also tried the nachos and they are good too, they use that real nacho cheese not that melted shredded cheese that other people use. We live in the apartments behind so we come here very often. Sometimes Saturday and Sunday. I would highly recommend. The owners are very nice people too, they are always there and when you go often they remember you! Thank you El Maestro. read more

When I first walked in, I was pretty impressed by the look of the place. The aesthetic was super cute, plus there was a full bar which is always nice. But service is not great. I asked three people for a glass of water and ended up having to walk over to the bar to get it myself because they all forgot. (I guess.) The food was okay, but not great. read more

Average food. We had the Carne Asada plate and Baja tacos. The beef was cooked ok. The cut was too thick and was very fatty, which didn't have the chard flavor I love when enjoying this dish. The tacos were also just ok. They tortillas seem a little thick, which takes away from the flavor of the ingredients. The atmosphere is relaxing and laid back. They do have large tables that would accommodate larger parties and make a good sangria. Therefore, it could be a nice place to meet a bunch of friends. The service was good, but a little on the slower dive. Servers seem less experienced and not as accommodating as they could be. read more

Came alone to try it out before asking my husband to go. We have been looking for a decent Mexican restaurant with a full bar. The food was good. The salsa was GREAT. The margarita that I had (generic margarita, blended with salt) was just so-so. The ambiance is good. I was there for lunch and the main dining room was closed, but I could see that it looks very nice. The service was good, but then they weren't busy at all. I had a combination plate with a chili rellano, enchilada and a tostada. Nothing fancy, but a nice touch was that the tostada was on a separate plate. Again, the salsa is what stands out for me. It wasn't chunky, it was spicy with lots of flavor. They served it along with a pico de gallo so if you wanted chunky, you could have it. I will be back. read more

We love love love this place. Been there about 10 times now, and each time is better than the last. The margaritas are on point, the chevellas are great too. We've tried the fajitas, burritos, nachos (out of this world with asada), chili rellano, tacos, enchaladas and I'm sure others that i'm forgetting. I have honestly enjoyed every dish. Exceptional attentive service and so clean. The TV's also help get hubs out of the house on warriors nights, lol. Thrilled that El Maestro is in the area! Keep up the great work :) read more

Came here the other night to celebrate my sister inlaw's bday, so this place wasn't my choice. But I do agree with another yelper who yelped this place. Not trying to be mean either but this place is truly a white washed Mexican restaurant and was shocked that my inlaw's chose this place cause they are of the ethnic group. Not that we should be eating a whole lot but I do have to say the prices here are a bit tad high for small portions. I ordered the chilie relleno and the pepper lacked of flavor. Service here was ok but not the greatest. They have room for improvement if they choose too. I just think it's not cool if your taking orders at the other end of the table and trying to get my order at the other of the end of the table and it's super loud in the restaurant and couldn't get my order right. Stop being lazy and just walk those extra few steps to get my order right. Not sure if I would be back. read more

This place is OKAY. This is not by any means authentic Mexican food (They use nacho cheese for their nachos not shredded cheese - I like nacho cheese...but at a sporting event.) Food has little to no flavor, over priced for what it is. Drinks were OKAY. It is however a nice place to go to if you want to watch a game, they have multiple TV's that play different sporting games. The service is good, but I wouldn't go here for the food. read more
