Solid solid Mexican food spot dishing out huge portions of spicy, authentic goodness. The Marquez wet burrito is filled w meat rice and beans, smothered in a green sauce and cheese. The menudo, for those who enjoy this Mexican soup is some of the best I've ever had. The broth is extremely rich and flavorful. The customer experience is top notch and the chips and salsa at the onset is also top notch. A must try spot when you're in Norwalk, just of the 5 freeway. Yeah

I used to frequent El Marquez years ago and always enjoyed, but I haven't been back until the previous owners returned. They did not disappoint. The fried fish with the garlic sauce on the side is delicious. I had to come back and get it again. The wet burritos always hit their mark. I will continue to visit and look forward to my next return!

Bad customer service and the Michelada was gross. Did not have any flavor. I gave it back and asked for a regular beer instead and they wanted to charge me $6 more.

Had a party of 14 come in for my son's birthday, we made it at 4pm on Sunday which was perfect because it was after the lunch crowd and they were able to put tables together to accommodate us. They even have a private room for parties and patio seating but there was already a large party there. Staff was attentive and food was excellent. Chicken mole was outstanding. Also tried the pozole, one of the best I've had. They give you chips and salsa, so addicting. My late husband's family has been coming here for decades but we haven't been here in over ten years since we moved. Glad to see that the food is just as good now, even though it's more expensive but I guess that's to be expected nowadays. I would come here just for the homemade tortillas and can't beat their guacamole! The menu says "market price" and I forgot to check my receipt but whatever it costs, it's worth it!

I like coming to this restaurant to eat and drink while watching sports games. The service is really quick and they often times have food and beer specials not displayed in the menu.

I've been here before, and they never disappoint. The ambiance is very nice, with good Mexican music and a family-friendly atmosphere. We ordered some Aguachiles, Guacamole, Ceviche de Camarón, Camarones de Cilantro, Carne, a la Mexicana, which comes with tortillas and consume. The food was delicious, and the beers were cold as always. My total bill was $265.99 with tip, and it was worth it. Although this place is always pricey, you're paying for quality, not quantity. I am thinking about returning to watch a couple of World Cup games because I know the vibe will be fantastic.

Great burritos, their salsa tastes amazing, and huge portions…read more I got a wet veggie burrito, half and half sauce, and it was a treat. It came with 4 tostada shells and salsa verde. Food was good, the burrito sauces were tasty and flavored well. I could easily share this portion size with another person. The hostess handling patrons and customers was super sweet to work with and order from. She did an amazing job handling customers that came into the restaurant. The restaurant itself was quite packed, get there early to secure a seat or (see if you can) call ahead of time. The price for the burrito was more expensive than typical places which is why I'd rate it 4/5 stars, otherwise 5 star food!

The atmosphere was extremely dark -- almost too dark. The restaurant itself is small and narrow,…read morewhich gives it the feel of a dim alleyway, decorated with colorful Mexican festive banners hanging overhead. Some people may enjoy that style, but for me it felt overly dark and somewhat cramped. The service was okay. Nothing particularly good or bad stood out. As for the food, based on previous reviews, I expected something above average or even excellent. That really was not the case. If you regularly eat authentic Mexican food, the food here is simply okay. It is not bad, but it is also not especially good. I ordered the combination plate with two tacos, one enchilada, rice, and beans. The other person ordered one enchilada, one taco, rice, and beans. Since we eat Mexican food frequently, we have a solid idea of what good Mexican food should taste like. The food here was decent enough to eat, but nothing memorable. One thing I did not appreciate was the pricing structure. The menu combinations appear one way at first, but if you choose a meat other than ground beef, there is an additional charge of one or two dollars depending on the item. The restaurant does disclose this, but only in fine print, so make sure to read carefully before ordering. Overall, I probably would not return because I know what genuinely good Mexican food tastes like. However, if you did not grow up eating Mexican food regularly, you may enjoy this place much more than I did. It may appeal more to people who are less familiar with authentic Mexican cuisine. Also, to be fair, I did not try the burritos, so those could potentially be better.

I'm also a sucker for a place that has a salsa bar (they also have beans, carrots and etc on the salsa bar) They have up close private parking The inside is very spacious with really big comfortable chairs. You can also see an open kitchen where they are cooking / cutting up the meat Each time I've came here, Lucy has taken care of us. -you walk up to the counter and order -they give you a number -then they call your number and you pick up your food. -Everything is self served.
