If I could rate 0 stars I would. We received the worst service I've ever experienced in a restaurant. We sat at our table for 10 minutes before our server came to ask for our drink order. When she finally did come over she apologized for the long wait and informed us that she was not notified that she had a new table, which is totally understandable. She brought us free tequila shots for the wait and said service would be better from then on. We ordered our drinks and appetizers with her, and then sat for another 20 minutes before I had to flag down another waitress to ask where our chips and salsa was. After our appetizers arrived, we still didn't see our server for 20+ minutes and finally asked another waiter for the check without even ordering entrees. Spent $40 at this restaurant without ever being offered the option of ordering an entree. Won't be returning. read more

First time there, the food was delicious. The portion of enchiladas was very large, and so good. Drink selection was large, they even had NA margaritas and pina coladas. Lots of tequilas and spirits or beers and wine. Hands down the best chips and green salsa. Will definitely be back when the patio is open. Parking is a little tricky, there is some street parking but I wasn't sure if there was a lot behind or on the side. There is a bank next door and I didn't want to be parking in a private lot. A cold St. Patrick's evening turned into a warm, inviting night for the four of us. We started with full-to-the-brim cocktails, including Mojitos and a Strawberry Skinny (strawberry) Margarita. At the bar, I ordered the Azteca Guacamole, which was the tastiest and most colorful fresh appetizer (a meal in itself) served with those crisp corn tostadas! She also took our order, and we were not disappointed with the generous servings of Pad Thai Chicken Nachos, Enchiladas de salsa verdes, Pollo asado, and Beef Fajitas -- every dish full of flavor and made with care. El Milagro really fills the shoes of the spot that used to be Taco Circus. The tacos were some of my favorite Al pastor I've had in St. Louis. Tom's of options on the menu and overall lots of seating inside. Loved: the Al pastor tacos and tortilla chips - very good! Liked: the happy hour menu was confusing and service was okay. YES YES YES. Can I give them 10 stars? I love the ambiance of this place. I go here minimum once per year (only due to distance) but it is my go to place for my birthday. The service is always great. And the food well it's very unique. It is not an Americanized Mexican restaurant. It is a true Hispanic restaurant. I absolutely love the menu, and the prices are reasonable for the portions! We started with the queso volcano dip. The scorched cheese on top made it Extremely difficult to dip chips into the queso. We had to scoop the scorched cheese to the side so we could access the great tasting queso. Next time I will request no scorching of the queso. I was there with my two children and we each ordered a different street taco plate so we could share. There's three per serving and the restaurant does not allow to mix and match. So I had one Al Pastor, one Puerco Ahumado and one Carne Asada. The Carne Asada was steak and the others were pork. The pork was more tender than the beef. All three street tacos tasted great. The restaurant was very busy, 6:30pm on a Friday, and our service was a little slow too. Not enough staff? The restaurant has a fun vibe to it. The chicharron and birria tacos are amazing. They paired well with the strawberry basil and jalapeño margaritas.

My daughter and I were not pleased that our dinner plans had suddenly changed from pizza to Mexican and the very large menu here had us both worried. We played it safe and each got a different quesadilla (Azteca and de Camarón). I additionally got the Mexican Chopped Salad. My spouse got the Poblano Marinero and a spicy margarita that was very strong. Wished they offered chips but that's $5 extra... The food came out slower than we'd liked but it was DELICIOUS. Our funk slowly gave way to happy food noises. We were mostly done with our meals when my husband's Poblano Marinero came out. The waiter was very apologetic and comped us some churros for dessert. We'll be back, and in a better mood at the start since we know that the food here is terrific plus we'll try some of the more adventurous items on the menu. read more

I was treated to a Mother's Day lunch here and I am so pleased to have found a new favorite Mexican restaurant. We were a party of 11, with three little ones, and Lori S did a very nice job taking care of us. We had a reservation, but apparently, there was some miscommunication amongst the staff and they were not ready for us. Once we were seated, things went fairly smoothly. We ordered the chips and salsa and added a spicy salsa for an additional charge. The 2 salsas that came with the order, were both flavorful enough that the additional $2 charge for the spicy one wasn't really necessary for our group. We all ordered a drink and other than the Paloma, everyone was happy with the cocktails. I will say our server, who was also manning the bar, was a little overwhelmed, so that might have been the issue with the Paloma. We ordered a variety of items and most were a success! I ordered the poblano marinero and I loved it. The flavor was great and the amount of seafood in the dish was substantial. The kids meals were very large and we easily brought half of the meals home for leftovers. Hubby had the Birria tacos and thought they were very good. Another weekend another restaurant to review. Continuing the search for great Mexican food and visited El Milagros Azteca(EMA). Located close to the Hill in STL, EMA was a pleasant experience. The restaurant had a very traditional decor you would see in Mexican restaurants, but EMA was a modern style that was very cool. EMA has seating in the bar area as well as two dining areas. EMA can accommodate large groups and recommend calling ahead. Our server quickly took our drink order while we viewed the menu. EMA has a diverse menu of traditional and modern dishes. We ordered the taquitos appetizer which came with tinga chicken and was made fresh with a delicious salsa. Next we tried two chicken dishes. First, chicken de crema, a grilled chicken breast covered with a delicious cream and spinach and served with beans and rice. Next, we tried pollo con mole a traditional dish also served with grilled chicken and beans and rice. Both dishes had good presentation, and seasoned perfectly. Our server was very attentive while giving us privacy to enjoy our meal. We didn't order drinks on this visit but several options on the menu looked interesting. Music was also very upbeat and complimented our experience. Overall, a great experience and will be back to try their cocktail menu. read more

We ordered chips, salsa, guacamole, elotes, burrito azteca and the piña rellana. I loved the corn. It definitely had a lot of lime on it so it was right up my alley. The piña rellana was very fishy- I just wish it would have had more shrimp in it. If you like the fishy taste it would be good to order. My husband loved his burrito. It was very delicious and I'd probably order that or something different next time. For dessert our table shared the tres leches cake. It was good but not my fav. Wish I would have tried the churros! The churro cart seemed to be a hit and looked so good. Big regret not getting it as it looked amazing Service was good and inside was clean. My wife and I have been making the rounds in STL as we are stationed here for the next few months. We were craving Mexican and this was right next to the pharmacy where we had to go, easy call to pop on in! Without a doubt the food is the star attraction, the chips and salsa were delicious, my wife's nachos were top notch and I crushed all three of my street tacos! On the flip side two minor issues that we thought could have made our experience a bit better; two drunk patrons were definitely over served, loud, obnoxious and should have been asked to leave because it ruined the vibe! Minor but worth mentioning - you should never have to pay for chips and salsa in a Mexican restaurant - but we sure had to here. As an individual who has had to alter my diet somewhat the fact they have veggie and some offerings that are lower fat allows me to enjoy a mex meal. I used to come into this location when it was Three Flags Tavern. I absolutely loved that restaurant. It was a spot my wife and I went on special occasions so the location has a lot of memories for me. It now hosts El Milagro Azteca. It isn't too far from where I work so myself and some coworkers decided to check it out for lunch. It hadn't been open very long when we went. The waitress was excellent. She was friendly and attentive but not overbearing. Our group got a mixture of different coctails. I got a paloma and someone else got a spicy (jalepeno) margarita. I thought mine was good. I'm not sure why anyone would willingly order a jalepeno margarito but my coworker enjoyed it. For food I had some chips and salsa and tacos. The salsa isn't included by default, but it wasn't that expensive and what is Mexican food without chips and salsa? The chips were a bit on the thin side but good. The salsa and queso were very good. My steak tacos were amazing and I was very pleased with the food overall with my choices. My coworkers got a steak burrito and chimichangas and both gave them the thumbs up. I think that Milagro Azeteca is actually near the very top of Mexican restaurants I've eaten at in St. Louis. I'll definitely be coming back again in the future. read more

If you are looking for slightly more upscale mexican food, look no further. El Milagro is one of the most consistently excellent meals that I've had in St. Louis. For some reason, this place does not seem as busy as it should be based on the quality and area, but hey, more for everyone else I guess. The restaurant itself has a cozy, intimate vibe and the patio outside is excellent for those warm days. I will almost always get the Birria Tacos or the fajitas as both have been consistently amazing. Stopped in for lunch today with my partner and we both had a great time. The first thing I have to mention are the pad Thai chicken nachos. I know what you're thinking... pad Thai nachos on wonton chips at a southwest/Mexican restaurant? Oh yes. They were unbelievable. Every ingredient involved was a win and they were deliciously flavorful. I highly recommend them. We also ordered a lunch special (soup and salad for 12) and it was a generous amount of food. The corn and shrimp bisque was good as was the salad with cilantro lime dressing. All the food was very fresh. The only advice I have for them is to punch up the flavor in the vinaigrette. It needed a lot more lime juice and maybe some fresh garlic or some cumin? The place is nicely lit and decorated. It was chilly inside! But on this 95 degree day I was grateful. First time here! Love the art and fixtures here. Were we're sat right away. Took a moment to look over the menu, reasonably priced looking. We started with some taquitos for an appetizer. Nice & crunchy with some yummy sauce drizzled over it. Their guacamole is fantastic too. Out waiter was very prompt and patient. Ordered dinner when the app came out. We had hot food in front of us within 10 minutes. I ordered the Chimichanga with chicken & the marinade on the chicken was fabulous. Great flavors all around. Hubs got the Enchiladas with pork.
