I think el nopal is such a cute little restaurant with all the bright colors and welcoming servers. They are really fast and I always get a beef burrito with rice and beans and lemonade (which is pink). The only downside is karaoke night but it's only on Tuesdays or wednesdays I think so it's easy to avoid. read more

My "live affair" with El Nopal had a rocky start. But I have to admit, it's becoming a "go to" for quick, affordable, and good Tex-mex food. This time, I went with Tortilla soup on a chilly night. I wasn't sure if it filled me, so I added a steak taco. Silly me. I ended up taking soup home. I'm not sure if I've ever seen more chicken in tortilla soup from any Mexican restaurant. The broth could have used a bit more spice, but nothing a little salt & pepper couldn't fix. BTW, it seems that Tuesdays & Saturdays are karaoke nights. Normally, that would make me cringe. But on this Tuesday night a bunch of seniors, who are regulars, were pretty darn good. And friendly, too. Ends up, they were every bit as satisfying as my meal. read more

Went for lunch last week to check this place out. Service was fine as our waitress was friendly. But when the best part of the meal were the chips! Burrito had absolutely no flavor and barely half stuffed. Food should have been great since the place about 10% full. Will never go back. Sadly disappointed. read more

This is always a great Mexican food experience. I really love the atmosphere and the service is fast. They offer big 36 ounce beers for cheap price as well. I usually get the combination number 11, which is one burrito, one taco, and one enchilada. It is so good for $8.99. With all that food and free chips and salsa this is an excellent deal. Love their chicken special nachos and a 1/2 frozen 1/2 rocks margarita is the perfect margarita!! We love the chimichangas! They are doing a great job during Covid woth carryout! You can get delicious margaritas to go! It was wonderful. I love their salsa and queso. Plenty to eat and enjoy with our favorite mexican place! They cook fresh meats, fresh veggies. So much better than Gustavo's who just pumps out food slathered in onion and grease. I love this place. The food tastes sooo good. The service was good, the food was ok, nothing special like every other El Nopal, typical. But while I understand lunch portions are smaller, this is second time being there for lunch and the portions are getting smaller each time. Chips were stale, And when brought to manager attention, he didn't care. As I said to him, I am disappointed,. He gave zero cares. My friend and I have went to this El Nopel many of times over the years and just over the last year we have been getting our orders messed up, shorted on portions, or given lunch menu for when said dinner specifically. The last 6 months we have been paying more than we have to for our food and after today of getting tired of it and pointing out how much the food costs on the menu and how their trying to charge us for something different we got laughed at by the cashier and server overhearing the conversation and when asked for the manager we were denied of such things. This place deserves to be shut down because I have been here and seen people I know that's under 21 order an alcoholic drink and no ID was asked for, this is against food safety policy and even worse the LAW. LETTING MINORS DRINK OR ANYONE UNDER 21 IS AGAINST THE LAW. False advertising the food people are going to get is against food safety policies, I am deserved a right to know why this company would do such things, until so I will never come back to this restaurant ever again. I just had a friend tell me about this yelp site so I thought I'd dive in. I wanted to write my first review. So I choose a place close to home that I can speak to with authority. I live close by the Creswood El Nopal. I have been a steady customer since they opened. I do recommend them. Food: Good food. Between my wife and I, we have tried everything on the menu. We have enjoyed each dinner. And yes we have our favorities. Mine is the Casa dea. We believe their chips and salsa are the best in Louisville. Drinks: My medical status prevents me from providing info here. Darn-it. I will say I have longed to try that $1.99 Margaretta... Facility: The pride in ownership shows. Restrooms are consistently spotless. Due to my work schedule my wife and I usually eat late, just after the dinner rush. So I SEE the clean up as it happens. These folks are first class on clean up. Their approach to the dining room/rest rooms tells me the kitchen is clean. Staff: I have seen a help sign for waiters in the window since opening day. There has been a variety of wait staff. This has resulted in a few cases of "new waiter syndrome". The variety of staff as I perceive it, has mostly been waiters from other places picking up extra shifts to help fill the "holes". While this circumstance appears to be beyond control of the owners, and seems to me to be common at most places, this does prevent a five star review. Manager The manager is a pleasant, friendly fellow with a broad smile. I see him approach every table at some point during each customer's visit. And something refreshing, he is firm with his staff but treats he them well and with respect. This makes for a good dining environment. Overall: 4.6 stars out of 5 Great value for your food dollar. I am giving 2 reviews because it seems like they never get the order right. They are right down the road from us, so we order to go like 3-4 times a month. The food isn't bad at all, but the past 5 times we have went the order has been wrong. They have forgotten my sons kids meal, cheese dip, chips, and have completely give us something different than what we ordered. I have called every time and they tell us they will credit our next order, but when I call they say that they dont see where there is a credit for my name! The manager didn't really seem to care about making it right, so I guess we will stop getting food from there all together. read more

My father went there the other night and said he would never go back, so I don't think I am tainted. I actually want to like it, but I can only take so much. We have been dining at this restaurant at least weekly since they opened this location a year ago. The food is great, the service is fast, friendly and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you are taken care of regardless of how busy they are. The manager frequents all the tables to make sure all the guests are taken care of and happy. We aren't the only ones that frequent here because we see friends and familiar faces quite often - other repeat customers. When I travel, I always ask where the locals go because I know you can't go wrong with that choice. This is one of those restaurants this local recommends and one where you can't go wrong! read more

I like eating here. The food is always fresh and hot. I like their queso better than most Mexican restaurants. The staff is attentive and polite. Menu prices are for the most part what you would expect but I think there are some items that are just priced too high. It is always very clean and well kept up. But the final straw was when we got a long blonde hair in my food. What a welcome change this place took in the conversion to El Nopal. It looks shiny and new with a completely new kitchen is cranking out some great food. Food quality is consistently great and have had many freinds who eat at other locations repeatedly comment that this one is the best. Service is typically great as well, with the occasional new waitstaff small hiccups. The Manager is always on site and does a great job checking on tables and making sure everything is 100%. The weekly live music is very enjoyable as well. He is a nice addition to the place. Crestwood is fortunate to have El Nopal. read more
