Well the day finally arrived and I opted for takeout. I went with the "Make Your Own Seafood Combo" seafood boil and went with: - Shrimp (head-off) .5 lb - Snow Crab Legs .5 lb - Lobster Tail 6 oz You receive one corn and one potato with this particular combo. You can substitute the potato for an additional corn, and vice versa. You also can add on additional at an extra fee. You get several sauce choices along with spice level preference. I settled on Cajun with Fire (which is supposed to be the spiciest/hottest but I found it to be the weakest out of all the seafood boil restaurants that I've tried). Was definitely more medium spice level than the HOTTEST that I requested. The snow crab legs and lobster tail were both delicious and had a lot of meat to be found in both. The shrimp didn't seem to be cooked very well. Even after peeling and taking off the tails it was still quite a bit crunchy. I had requested utensils/napkins, and absolutely nothing was received (so I thanked God I had visited Red Lobster previously and they had given me a reusable plastic crab leg cracker with my previous meal there) otherwise I would have been stumped cracking legs all night long! For the prices at Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood, I really was not that impressed. The fact they only give you one corn (I couldn't care less for the one red potato) and the fact they don't include any utensils or napkins (as this meal is VERY messy) is a complete turn off because the restaurant can definitely afford to compensate. Overall I'd rate them a 3.5, but since that's not possible, I'll round up to a 4 as the lobster tail and snow crab legs were delicious.

We visited on a Sunday and were charged full dinner price, even though it was lunchtime--but most of what was available felt like leftover lunch items. The food was cold, dried out, and honestly not appetizing at all. The meat was especially tough and hard to chew, which made it even worse. The biggest letdown was the crab legs. We were repeatedly told they'd be out in "10 minutes," but we waited over 30 minutes. When they finally brought some out, there was barely anything--just a few pieces--and they were gone almost instantly. Definitely not what was advertised. The restaurant itself was clean, but it felt pretty rundown and not well maintained. Several food areas were empty, including desserts, and the drink machines were nearly out or barely working. As I was getting ready to leave, I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and walked in and it was disgusting. It smelled like throw up, and it looked like somebody had thrown up. One of the most frustrating parts was the drinks. As soon as you sit down, they immediately come to your table and ask what you want to drink, which makes it seem like it's included--but sodas are actually charged separately. It felt very misleading, so just be aware of that. Overall, the whole experience felt disappointing and poorly managed. We will not be returning and would not recommend this place.

I haven't been to Timbermine in years…read more We finally went back tonight. We got sat in the back corner which was charming. It took a little bit too long for service but they quickly made up for it. My husband had the Filet Mignon. He said it wasn't the best he's had but still really good. He wants to come back for the Prime Rib. We both had salads with their homemade ranch. It is so good I just wanted to drink it. I had the fried Shrimp. I thought it was delicious. You get five giant pieces and their cocktail sauce had a little kick to it. It's really some of the best I've had anywhere. We didn't order dessert because they start the meal with delicious bread and butter then a salad and your entree so it is a ton of food. We live in Salt Lake. Every Steakhouse there is Ala Carte. It was nice for once to just get it all as part of your dinner. It's about an hours drive for us but I've made my husband a fan. Hopefully we come back often because I forgot how good it is!

It is definitely a challenge to serve 80 patrons at once. The food and service quality has to be on its game. i think that Timbermine Steakhouse did a good job. We had a banquet room to ourselves, which most restaurants do not have. We were in round tables that seated 10. Included with our dinner was a nicely flavored fruit punch, salad with Ranch dressing, dinner roll, choice of ribeye steak or halibut or teriyaki chicken, big baked potato that was delicious, and a strawberry cheesecake. All were good. We were not asked for doneness for our steaks, they all came out medium well done, but that wasn't a problem since the steaks were still tender and not dried out. For point of reference, I usually have my steak medium rare. A good steak that was sizeable, a half an inch thick that covered half of the plate. I didn't even finish mine. I think that was a good deal for $27 a person, which included the tip for the servers. The service was spot on. There were enough staff assigned to our dinner and they were on top of things. Water and punch filled and refilled, plates cleared, meal served on time and efficiently, friendly and pleasant. Our room was spacious enough for our large group. There were none of the idiosyncrasies that makes Timbermine, Timbermine. Walking in and out of the restaurant, I did notice the mine cars, the bathtub lined with Pez dispensers, things on the wall, etc. that gives it it's quirky theme atmosphere. Our event started at 4:30p and when I left at 6:30 the parking lot, which is huge, was jammed full as well as the regular restaurant space. So this place is definitely popular on Saturday nights! Good job, Timbermine, I think you are a good choice for large groups. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!
