Ecuadorian food is so hard to find, and we drive an hour plus to eat here. Sorry if I can't name the different dishes, I don't know Spanish. I normally order the fried ball of plantain and pork, love their fried plantain chips and spicy dip, which is delicious and quite spicy, I always order more! For my main course, I usually either have the fish soup or the baked clay pot with the mashed plantains and shrimp. DELICIOUS! The servers are, I think, family; and they are always friendly but at times a bit overwhelmed. Also they have been (in my experience) confused when it comes time to pay and have overcharged us a couple times and we have to rein them back in to pay for what we received. It's in the corner of the plaza and down stairs, in an interesting room (?). We , my wife and I, had returned from our Miami trip to spend some time in Orlando and decided to try an authentic Ecuadorean restaurant. We read all the reviews and were kinda worried about this place. When i entered the place i was automatically transported back to my childhood in Quito. Don Hugo welcomes you and gets a table ready for you right away. He is a people person. He would make recommendations but will listen to what you are craving for. We started the first day with empanadas de verde ( plantain turnovers) OMG! with that amazing ají ( chilli pepper and hot sauce?). That right there is a meal. Then the caldo the bola was nice and frothy. Good portion. But let me tell you.... The corvina frita was hands down one of the best i've ever had in my humble life. For dessert, we shared the tres leches cake. C' mon !! We both closed our eyes to enjoy our dessert. I highly recommend you to try it. Next day we had empanadas de verde, shrimp ceviche ( Ecuadorean style) super good, and corvina frita and of course more tres leches. We hired This place to cater our wedding. The owner Yolanda Ramos had 4 consultations with us in addition to her daughter Gabby who attended. Our Venue recommended this place to us so we dined in several times and the food was great. The consultation was in English and Spanish so we made sure we were on the same page. We also decided to rent chair sashes and table runners from them. They advised us that the rental of the sashes and table runner included placing them on chairs and tables. I would later find out that Yolanda wanted to charge us to place them on chairs. She also convinced us to rent glassware from them in addition to cloth napkins and silverware. Although I was apprehensive about not having a contract, I chomped it off to them being old school, I mean they had great dining reviews! Since they came so highly recommended by the venue and their food was good, we decided to move forward with them. Here is what you must know: - They have nothing tangible that you can read with prices. She quotes you receive are quoted from her mind. There is no menu, no options to read over. You are given a verbal menu and the quotes change as you get closer to the event date. - Their book keeping is in a red notebook. You will not be provided a receipt or a copy of an agreed menu. I asked to take a picture of their red note book so that I can have proof of our meetings to go along with my payment (see below) - My family witnessed the staff take the left over food from my wedding in the back kitchen which is in open view. They watched them wrap and hand out amongst each-other as well as cake. I was sent home with a tiny tray of left overs. I had 10 cancellations and massive food leftover and was not provided with my leftovers. - My cousin had to stop them from dumping champagne that was not finished by guests because they wanted to go home. We still had 2 hours left. - We had a meeting with several times discussing the timeline. The appetizers would be served st 7pm sharp and dinner would be served 8pm sharp. They were instructed that each table would have its own bottle of champagne we had 7 tables. Gabby (Yolandas daughter told me that she would have the bartender open them at 8:15 and place on each table). That did not happen and we came home with 6 champagne bottles. We also had non alcoholic bottles for the teen table that was not placed. - Guests were not served on time because they were told not to serve until after toast. They had to return to their seats. I had to get up several times and stop my event to speak to staff to feed my guests. My guests did not eat till 8:45 pm. - I ordered 250 appetizers in total which was to be ready by 7pm. Not only were they served late they were slick and did not serve 250 pieces. I have photos to prove it below. I ordered 100 Large empanadas, 50 shrimp plantain cups and 50 chicken skewers with peppers (never even placed on table) and 50 salami and cheese rolls. I also ordered fruit skewer platter that was generous in the photos they showed me but was only served 14 skewers. They supplemented with small empanadas and the whole set up was inconsistent. They obviously did not prepare and shop. Do not let the photo fool you as theirs bread rolls there. That is not an appetizer. The day before the wedding Yolanda states that we owe her more money because she misquoted the price of the appetizers. She did not honor the fact that we paid her in full and it was bad customer service to drop a bomb like that the day before. We paid the extra reluctantly like fools. - Yolanda advised me that they would be Serving guests water and not to worry and convinced me to also rent toasting glasses from her and water glasses. My guests were thirsty for their meal. Water was never provided. They were told to go to bar if they were thirsty. I would have never rented water glasses from her if I knew this and I would have provided more water to the bar had I known. This caused me to again get out of my seat and speak to staff. - During consulting with Yolanda, she ensured me that they were educated on disassembling wedding cakes and serving. I had to stop what I was doing again to stop them as they were struggling and manhandling the cake. My guests were cringing. I had a 4 tier cake very tall cake enough to feed 200 guests. 48 guests showed up. I had 10 cancel on me. Maybe 30 ate cake. I only came home with some cake. I should have came back with 2 tiers. The left over food they sent me home with was in a 9x11x2 inch foil tray. Unacceptable. Upon cleaning and getting ready to leave my husband found an open wedding card gift for us on the kitchen floor. My husband was using the kitchen as a short cut to the parking area to load the vehicle. Several other cards were missing. We are still investigating with the venue and reviewing footage. read more

If you do not have a good navigation tool, you might not be able to find this place. It is hidden in an old renovated hotel that is filled with boutiques and shops now...kinda cool. This was my first visit here with my sister, we could not tell where the front door was, but we just walked until we found it. My sister and I walked in and were not greeted, but we approached the counter and eventually a man came out from the back. He was speaking Spanish and we were a little rusty with our Espanol, so we were responding in English and ghetto sign language. He sat us down and we ordered. I had the Ceviche Marinero. It is a mix of shrimp, octopus, calamari, fish, and conch. Sis wanted the same thing, but I told her to get something else and we can just share. She ordered the filete de salmon. It came with two sides. We chose salad and tostones. Everything was awesome, besides the fact that the salmon was a bit salty. If it wasn't, it would have been perfect. My second visit, I took my Spanish-speaking coworker to treat her for her cumpleanos (birthday...I'm practicing). This time we had a younger waitress who spoke good English with an accent, so it was easier for me, especially with my friend translating. She ordered the Ceviche Marinero and I had the Bandera Ecuatoriana. It consisted of shrimp ceviche, guatita, y seco (one is a goat stew and the other is a peanut butter-based tripe stew). If you have a diverse palate, you have to try this dish. They are similar to some Filipino dishes that my parents used to make. I would feel uncomfortable coming to this place alone unless I had my Google Translate app opened the whole time or mi amiga was with me, but I really loved the food. the food is good some of them. the shrimps tasted sour it was disgusting and i am a shrimp lover but those shrimps were just nasty. the only thing that was good was the flan which is why i gave it 1 star. the service was good the guy was talkative, making sure everything was good and making us feel like home but i think it was all a show since they scammed $30+ out of us, they didn't let us know 15% tips were already added and didn't even tell hs anything and we ended up leaving more tip since we thought there was none please be careful and read the check correctly. the ambiance wasn't as great the painting on the wall were coming off and definitely could use a bit more decoration and stuff to make it look more lively. read more

This is about the worst Ecuadorean food I have had. The Ceviche had no flavor, mind you no lemon juice. The Encebollado also had no flavor it tasted like if they just keep adding water to the existing plate instead of making new fresh portions. The Bandera also was horrible the only thing on that plate was the Chivo (Goat). Don't know how the restaurant is still open honestly. From all the plates we ordered not one was good. Found this hidden gem on a search for fresh seafood. The location is sketchy but worth the trip. The restaurant and restroom are immaculate, if sparsely decorated. But who cares about decorations when the food and service are excellent? A little bit of Spanish comes in handy, but there is English on the menu and the owner speaks sufficient English. We had the tostones, empanadas, papas huicainas, ceviche marisco mixto, and arroz with black clans, which the menu says is for connoisseurs only, but is really quite delicious. My dining partner says the ceviche is the best he's had in the US, comparable to the freshest ceviche he's had in places like Cozumel. The black clams, which are rare and difficult to find, were outstanding and worth the trip alone. The huicaina sauce was very well made, creamy and smooth. One of the best things on the table is the homemade fresh salsa. Amazing flavors, perfect balance of taste and burn. Had to get some to take home. Prices are very low, especially considering the large portions. If you're in the Florida Mall area, this wonderful restaurant should not be missed. Juan and I were looking for a place to eat while visiting the Florida Mall. We found this place through Yelp and after seeing the great reviews, we were eager to try it. Mind you, the place looks shady (from the outside) and once you are within the restaurant, the facility looks "humble" and thrown together with available furniture. HOWEVER, it's super clean, fast and servers are friendly and available to provide fast quality service. Now the food was great and represents authentic Peruvian and Ecuadorian food; also, you can't beat the prices. After breezing through the menu, I was excited to try the seafood with rice (which in Puerto Rico we know as "paella") and so was Juan. We were starving and immediately saw that they had "Bolón de quesoy/o chicharrón", (A fried plantain ball filled with either cheese, fried pork or both) as an appetizer and ordered one to share ($4.50). This "bolón" is very similar to a Puerto Rican favorite known as "mofongo" and we were pleased. Also, we ordered "Maracuyá" as our beverages (about 18 oz of Natural passion fruit juice for $3.50) which were refreshing and prepared minutes before serving it. You even hear the blender as the server is preparing it (which she assured me was fresh and prepared on the spot). Additionally, as an entrée, we both had, like mentioned, the Seafood with rice, ($16.00) a traditional Peruvian dish that was well prepared, huge serving size and VERY tasty. Finally, Juan had seen a group, at another table, ask for vanilla flan ($3.00) and was amazed of the sizable portion for the price. We decided to get one to share and it was perfect. Definitely a must. I personally prefer Cheese flans, but they only had vanilla flan and it was great!. Summarizing our experience, the place looks very humble, shady from the outside, but it's very clean and has excellent food, prices and service. Staff seems to mostly speak Spanish and limited English, but the menu is in English so as long as you can point out what you want, I'm sure anybody that doesn't speak Spanish will be able to manage themselves. I highly recommend this spot for authentic Peruvian/Ecuadorian food with fair prices and hope to visit it again when in the area! read more

This review is totally one sided because I am from Ecuador and I have missed Ecuadorian cuisine like crazy. But go in and try it because I don't think you will regret it. Even though is a small country in South American (the size of Nevada), Ecuadorian cuisine can vary drastically according to the region. Based on their name, Casa del Marisco, one can guess, before seeing the menu, that this restaurant focuses on coastal dishes. Coastal dishes incorporates fish, coconut, peanuts, lime and plantains, making for an exotic contrast. Since I came on a Saturday, they were serving one particularly popular Ecuadorian dish: Bandera. If you have never tried Ecuadorian food, then I highly suggest you go for this dish. It incorporates three traditional dishes: shrimp ceviche, seco de chivo (goat stew), and guatita (tripe stew). Now, most of you know what a ceviche is but seriously don't be afraid of trying the seco or the guatita. The seco is very smilar to a traditional stew but the guatita is a peanut based stew that will certainly perk up your senses. The restaurant itself is pretty darn basic (some old tables and chairs) and could certainly could use some Ecuadorian decorations but is the only Ecuadorian place in Orlando so we got to start somewhere. There is nothing to complain about the service. The server was very nice to me and to every table in the restaurant. A Chilean family walked in and were not sure what to order, the server asked them about their food tastes and what they felt like eating (a heavy meal, soups, etc). She was even nice enough to let them know that their dishes are pretty big and that they really did not needed to order a third dish for their son (who was about 4 yrs old). So in conclusion, please go east at this place and taste a bit of my heritage. I think the food and the service were great but again, that could be the Ecuadorian in me coming out :) read more

This restaurant has excellent traditional Ecuadorian dishes, is clean and has very nice owners. It is true that it is a bit difficult to find because it is within an oddly shaped older shopping center but let me tell you it is well worth the hunt! We started with the fish ceviche which was our favorite. My boyfriend said it was the best he has had in the states. The flavor of the marinade was perfection! I asked for homemade hot sauce and the owner was kind enough to bring me two. The red one was super spicy and the green hot sauce was milder but still hot. Both were delicious and accompanied our dishes well! For our main dishes we each ordered seafood lightly battered and fried. The seafood was fresh and tasty but the best part of our dishes was the salad each of them came with along the rice. So delicious with lots of lime and flavor! I had the corvina, Wich is a Ecuadorian staple. It was decent but I had better. My wife had the salmon, it was just awful. It did not taste fresh at all. I share the corvina with my wife, since her dish was unatable. The garnish that came with the dish was a simple onion vinaigrette, ok but nothing to praise. Beware. Only eat here if you have three hours to spare. It took about 40 minutes for one of the 5 servers to clean one of the three open but dirty tables so that we could be seated. Our server took our order about 15 minutes later. Now for the fun part. ONE AND A HALF HOURS! That's how long it took to get our food! This place is terribly disorganized. The servers run back and forth without purpose trying to firgure out what to do next. Also, we ordered appetizers. One hour later, when we asked our server when they were coming out, she told us that they come out with the main dishes....I can't tell if this is just what they do here or if it's because the kitchen was backed up, but it's definitely makes this disorderly "business" unappealing to me. To the owner who I saw running back and forth like a chicken with his head cut off, get it together. You can't have your customers waiting for over two hours not knowing where their food is.
